"Explorateur, located in a historic masonic lodge space at 186 Tremont St., across from Boston Common, is closing today, March 2. It has been open for about two and a half years and was a popular place for working remotely while sipping on matcha lattes in the morning and cocktails in the evening. All employees are being offered jobs elsewhere in the Big Night universe, according to an announcement from the company." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"The Big Night hospitality group opened Explorateur about two and a half years ago in the former masonic lodge space across from Boston Common (186 Tremont St.). It was popular among remote workers. The group closed Explorateur on March 2 to replace it with two Guy Fieri restaurants, Guy Fieri’s Boston Kitchen + Bar and Chicken Guy." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

"This large and lovely European-style cafe at the edge of the Common is one of the best spots in Boston to grab a coffee and work on your laptop. But at 4 p.m., Explorateur quietly opens its bar to offer patrons a spectacular menu of classic and original cocktails that you’re welcome to sip on while finishing up your work." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

I come here as often as I can. But its usually for coffee and the random breakfast pastries, and pizza. Good space to work by yourself, kinda what you want out of a coffee shop. Huge space at the foot of a Masonic lodge. They have a cafe, bar and a fine dining area. Definitely want to come back to see their dinner menu.

Tasty desserts and a warm ambiance ar the signature here. The restaurent is in a historic building with intact interior with brick walls and traditional old theater style roof. The espresso tort was super tasty and so was the fruit tart. The ambiance is alive and warm. Highly recommended

Food The chicken wings were great. As for main course, we ordered steak frites and burger. Both were okay. While we were having main course, a stack of desserts was placed on the counter and initially we thought someone ordered the whole selection, but the desserts were sitting on the counter for more than 30 mins. When we asked for the dessert menu, the waiter brought the stack over and we thought maybe they use real food as menu. Shockingly, they served us the cake from the stack! I couldn’t believe that actually happened. Everything else The decor is very classy and their lounge looks like a library, which is interesting.

This was a really cute little coffee shop. It was expensive but good. It was full of young 20's doing work on laptops or having coffee. There is a restaurant in the back but it was not open when we went. The chocolate croussant was very good. My daughter wanted to go there since it was special as its out of the budget for a college kid.

Great for just stopping for a coffee and one of the delicious pastries or having brunch/lunch with your friends. I really like the interior. The only remark I have is, that during prime hours it feels a little bit like a train station and sitting in the coffee area can become a little uncomfortable.

Very nice place with plenty of options of pastries. I tried the ham and cheese croissant, the Danish, the chocolate almond bread pudding and the hot chocolate. The best was the Danish, crispy and custardy

The food was good, the atmosphere was great, and the hostesses were very nice, and were very accommodating about finding a table for 6 (and not requiring the whole party be there which is super annoying if you are waiting on that 1 always late friend). Prices are a bit steep, especially the $9 for 5 halved & fried fingerling potatoes - I mean, come on

Interesting location: the entrance area looks like a coffee shop, but they also have a full cocktail bar and they serve food. Had an exceptional risotto (butternut squash, bacon, Brie and kale) and a very good cocktail. Service is really good too
