Express Pizza & Subs

I just want to thank Express Pizza for assisting with a luncheon/celebration of life for my father right around the busy holidays. Express Pizza was my dad's favorite place to go after surfing at 1st street and the manager was open to hosting us after his service. A lot of our guests were impressed by the pizza and loved the crust! Thank you again for everything!

When we are in OC, only here is the best pizza.

we ordered 2 cheesesteaks and they barely out enough meat on them for it to be 1 cheesesteak… the onions were raw. Don’t waste your time or money.

Amazing pizza and even better service I get their pizza a couple times a week because I work in Ocean City often and the pizza is always great. Everyone who works there super friendly and they care about the customer. I ordered two slices today and asked for one with pepperoni and One plane and they put pepperoni on both of them by accident when they saw they did that. I told them it was completely fine. I don’t mind having two pepperoni but still they insisted on giving me the plain slice free of charge anytime I’m getting pizza. this is my go to spot.

Went to Express Pizza today for lunch. We ate in and got a large cheese pizza and a few other items. As a self proclaimed pizza connoisseur, the cheese pizza was fantastic. I have no complaints about it and was one of my top pizzas I've had. The cheese and sauce were perfect, high quality. The crust was magical. Crispy on the bottom but so light and fluffy (idk how you do it). The cheese and sauce were "tight" on the pizza, wasn't a sloppy mess. Perfection.

Disappointed seems to be an inadequate word here.... We have been coming to OCNJ for years and years and Express is one of the things we look forward to the most. This was our first visit under the new ownership, and likely our last. Pizza was way overcooked (should have expected that, given the example photos on their new website menu). The Italian hoagie used to be my favorite on the planet....but tonight, it was meh (cheaper meat supplier?). But the absolutely worst was my wife's Buffalo Chicken Cutlet sub.... see the photo attached. No buffalo sauce - and the sub was basically a few chicken fingers stuffed into a roll with a partially melted string cheese stick. There was nothing "cutlet" about it. We had heard the food quality went down and the prices way up - our visit tonight confirmed the food quality, but I didn't feel like the prices went up too much.... certainly reasonable for a beach town. I am curious about all these 5-star reviews -- looking at the wording of their posts and posting trends, I am not so sure those are all real people. Some are, I'm sure, but others are questionable.

We ordered for pickup so I do not know the atmosphere but I do know I got chicken parm sub. I lived my sandwich and everyone loved their food. I would recommend this business in the future.

Very Nice & cool people with fantastic service. Burgers are the BEST in the whole town, area! Very clean and they make it quick and fresh. Try cheese burger and you'll Love it. Pizzas are great too. I'm sure if I go there again I'll visit this place every day I stay in that town.

I got the buffalo chicken Caesar wrap and it was good. I feel as though it didn't have much of a Caesar taste. And I feel as though the dressing wasn't coated well throughout the wrap. I would get it again or try another one of their wraps. I placed my order over the phone and the lady that answered was great. She read my order back to me and spoke very clearly.

Ordered a take out Chicken Caesar salad late in the evening last night and it was superb. We have a place right around the corner and regularly visit for pizza, cheese steaks and in this case a salad. Always great food and ready on time! Definetly worth the visit

Did a phone order for a large pepperonis pizza and a cheese steak Stromboli. The young lady who took the ordered was very curt. I went to pick up the order and a different person rang me up, she was clearly new. But the curt girl who answered the phone wasn't any nicer to her fellow employee. Anyway, No pepperoni was on the pizza and the boli had no flavor. $55.00 for what? We have ordered here before and had problems with the orders being wrong. Turkey hoagie with roasted red peppers however we got sweet peppers on the side so I'm guessing they don't have roasted red peppers. Just say you don't have them and we would've gone somewhere else. As for ambiance it's about 95 degrees so do t plan on eating in.

This place was right next to our summer rental and my son deemed it as having the BEST fries (crispy but not too crispy) ever. The pizza was great and reasonably priced. My only criticism is that we'd like to see a white sauce on the menu. We ordered the chicken bacon ranch pizza and the red sauce takes away from it (but still good)!

breakfast was awesome- basically no wait and the staff was very helpful. Nice place for a family that is staying towards the gardens and wants a simple breakfast without the wait!

BLUF: Sparsely topped and dry. Very stingy with toppings. We came here because of some hype of some guy being back here? Seems like that's all it was, just hype. This is what I think of how they decided on their Chicken Parm Pizza. Someone over-cooked ONE chicken finger for their $10 chicken finger munchies order. Obviously they should still use it, let's keep it under a heat lamp and then cut it up and throw that ONE, over fried chicken finger on a cheese pizza. Done! Hey guys, someone ordered a pizza with broccoli and black olives. Let's chop THREE florets of broccoli and THREE whole olives and spread that around on a large cheese pizza. Done! Hey! White Pizza guys, too easy, no toppings? Just cheese, garlic, basil. Done! Two stars because at least their crust was nicely baked.

Just ordered Buffalo Cheese Steak wrap.. it was drenched in sauce... couldn't pick it up...Horrible sandwich

Great pizza and wings! Specifically had the buffalo chicken and meat lovers pizza. Placed the order online and it was ready quick on a Saturday night in season.

Get the pizza with the tomato sauce, pesto, and vodka sauce. Does not disappoint. 11/10.

we were looking for a place off the boardwalk because all that food taste the same so we found Express Pizza First time here, but not the last. Food was delicious the establishment is so clean. , the girl at the counter help me make a very tough decision on what to eat because everything looks so good !! As a fat guy highly recommend express Pizza

Ordered a cheesesteak at 7:30 p.m.. received a call back 10 minutes later from someone with an accent asking for my credit card information because they were closing, online it says they close at 9 :00 but I also saw they say it closes at 8:30? Still I don't give credit card information out over the phone. It just seems very suspicious. Be careful!!

Great if you're hungry big pies at an affordable price. Toppings were generous. Crust was disappointing. Giving this 2 stars as crust is King of the pie.

The pizza is elite, the best on the shore (and arguably the country), it does not get better. It is always cooked to perfection and the quality impresses every time. The service is unbeatable and they work hard at their craft. I am a pizza snob and I highly recommend Express to anyone. Eat it while it's hot and fresh out of the oven.

This pizza is off- the-hook... The crust is so nice and crisp, they dust it wth corn meal which gives this pizza it's incredible texture. The place came highly recommended by number one daughter, and S-i-L... The saturday night I went with number one son, and his super smart g-friend, the place was jumping in-house and with deliveries.. If your anywhere near OC I would definitely make a special trip to chow down on this superlative pizza...

I heard this piece it was really good so I was excited to try it so I called 530 placed an order. They told me in would ne out in 45 minutes. I had to give them my credit card !! I spoke to someone which I was surprised when I called! So it's 8 o'clock still no pizza! I've been calling for the 2 hours can't get thru to anyone! I think they need a new phone systems!

I have to agree it the best pizza on the island. (Preps on the boardwalk is good too) The location is closer to the Gardens and not near the boardwalk. Quick little strip section of retail. They have a couple of versions of crust, but I like the super thin version which is almost no dough , but has a great crunch to it. The sauce is sweet and does not have the acid taste some pizzas do. Overall, it is worth a few minutes away from downtown to grab a bite. Not sure about the cheese steak, but will grab it before heading home to MD.

Closed...Out of business. Called many times and their voicemail is many months old but still has not re-opened. This was a great business that made wonderful food but something must have gone wrong

I made a yelp account just to tell you that the new owners doubled the prices and mismanaged the place so hard that now you can't even order individual slices. But hey, at least you can sit around and watch non-stop ads on the tvs they installed.

YUMMY!!! My boyfriend has been raving about the "best pizza" in OC and we finally had the chance to stop here. They were very quick with making our pizza. We got a small half buffalo chicken, half chicken parm pizza. It was DELICIOUS!!! I think they put corn meal or something on their crust but it definitely makes their pizza unique and more tasty then any pizza places on the boardwalk. Cannot wait to go back!

We are in Ocean City, NJ, for a long holiday weekend and to take in the downtown block party celebration. We never anticipated the thousands and thousands of people that showed up on this beautiful October day. When it came time to make a decision about dinner, we found that our top 4 choices were either not doing take out or their wait times were were up to an hour and forty five minutes. We ultimately decided to take a chance and try delivery from Express Pizza, and are delighted we did! Between the six of us, we ordered 4 Express Steaks, a plain Chicken Chessesteak, and a Fajita-style Chicken Cheesesteak, two orders of onion rings and two orders of fries. The person who took the order was polite, informative, and amenable. She told me that it would be about 40 minutes, and she was spot on. Very reasonably priced, generously portioned huge cheesesteaks (not one of us could finish more than a half), and delicious to boot! Can't recommend them highly enough. They came through in a pinch, and we will be sure to order from them again on our next visit. Thank you Express Pizza!

My friends and I ordered from here while staying in Ocean City and I must say I absolutely loved it. I am kind of a pizza snob in that I don't like the kind of pizza with the burnt bits on the crust and the floppy bottoms (you know the neopolitan style fancy kinds), I love just regular crispy pizza. This pie definitely stood out. The crust was super crispy, the pepperoni was on point, and the cheese and sauce were perfect. I only wish we had ordered more! If you're staying in OCNJ, I highly recommend their pizza.

Pizza is great. My kiddo loves veggie pizza and they do a great job. Most places overload the pie with spinach, but here they have a nice amount of mushrooms and broccoli on too. I love the buffalo chicken cheese steak. I can't stop eating them. The rolls are always fresh. Their regular steaks are great too, but they do such a good job with the buffalo chicken one's that I am hooked.

Loved the "Pizza Jew's" pizza at Bakeria in Linwood and this version doesn't disappoint. Didn't think I'd be a fan of the cornmeal base, but it's very good. Service can be uneven as it's very busy in season, but it's worth the try!

The food I'd decent but they start shutting down long before posted closing. It's basically an order place only at night. Good luck getting a slice at night. I went in this evening and was told they don't do slices at night. I would go there as it's convenient parking compared to other places in Ocean City but I usually wind up driving to the other places anyway as I know I can get something there. I'm giving up on them.

Good north end of island pizza, lost a star for (a) not having on line ordering, (b) difficult to reach by telephone / busy signal ( even during out of season, so can not imagine what i will be like June 1 to August 31 in season ); and ( c ) does not take credit cards ( who in their right mind does not accept credit cards after covid ). Pizza was good, Stromboli was good, but the wait was longer then given at time of the Order, which is always a negative. Overall, good food, but business model needs some more thought, especially on-line ordering to avoid the busy phone line experience and credit card processing that will literally drive people to other providers.

Love me some express when I'm down in oc. The special is $6 and it's big slices of pizza. And I also love the chicken cheese steak bc it's the best after a long traveling day.

Very average, good place to check in and grab a bite, little expensive but still decently priced. Would recommend!

Really good pizza ! Great service and convenient to where we were staying. Very reasonably priced !

Cheese pizza was amazing. The base/crust was baked perfect and there was a perfect balance of sauce and cheese which made it easy to eat. The cheesesteak Stromboli... wow! I wasn't expecting it to be so tasty, but the dough was soft but well baked and the ingredients inside were so good. Some other friends had various other items like their Philly cheesesteak and loved them. No complaints here!

Went on a Saturday, Aug 22@615pm to pick up my order The good: Cheesesteak s were very good. A lot of meat and enough cheese to make it taste just right for me. Rolls seemed like a good quality roll. As for the pizza, the dough I thought was excellent. It is thin crust with a little semolina on the bottom baked in. Now the sauce and cheese were a little harder to evaluate as by the time we drove to 41st street,, we had to reheat the pizza so it seemed to dry out a bit. Salads were good, as were french fries. The bad: the place seemed chaotic. I walk in and the owner(male) is yelling at the front counter help. Clearly someone messed up an order. However, he kept going on and on about how he needs to have the orders so he knows what to make. The wife owner(I'm assuming) was marginally better in that she was trying to correct the inadequacies of the front counter help, but again felt it necessary to voice her disapproval in front of all the customers Completely inappropriate!!!!! You do not correct your employees in front of your customers and furthermore you don't lambaste them within earshot of everyone. Management may think that they are sending the message that "it was the kids fault" but in reality it only makes them look stupid. As a parent I was disgusted how they were talking to kids.

Best buffalo chicken cheese steak around.. Pizza is great.. Service is excellent!

Tried both Express and Primo during our visit. Express was hands down far better for both regular and buffalo cheesesteaks. The pizza was excellent as well. The employees were also far more engaging and welcoming. If you want ice cream to top off your meal there is a good place right next store.

Pretty cool quick server pizza joint off the beaten path. Not a tourist trap and you can get an affordable meal. Pizza there too is good. Typical flat crust no rise dough shore pie.

Place is a gem. I've been going since I was in high school (9? Years now) and I've only ever gotten one thing; cheesesteak. I'm a shoobie, and being from Philly it pains me to admit how good their steaks are but they do it right. Solid roll, they chop the steak and mix the cheese right into the meat (not positive but I think they only do American.. but that is all I've ever had from there) and then onions. It's a HUSK® cheesesteak, so make sure you're hungry if you stop by to grab one. Cannot speak to one other thing on the menu other than fries and I never will but Express is worth a going out of the way for.

Change your yelp site from saying accepts credit cards to the truthful fact that you accept cash only and charge a 2.50 usd atm fee

I seriously crave this pizza! It's not your typical thin crust pizza but the flavor and crust are so good! I've had wraps and sandwhiches here before too and they are good also! Can't wait to be in OC again, have to get Express everytime! Skip the boardwalk pizza hype, this is the best pizza in OC. Plus there is an awesome ice cream shop next door!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE M&M as much as the next OC'er. But, for lunch at the beach, I can't help myself from hitting up Express. They have a super cheap meal deal (or did as of last summer, I'll have to check as I just got here for the summer) around lunchtime with something like 2 slices and a soda for around 5-7 bucks. The crust is perfectly thin, which I love. Whatever extra crispy stuff they put on the bottom (if I were a real foodie, I'd know this, but trust me, you'd like it/know it if you had it) adds a rough texture that gives the pizza a very homemade feel. I like how they push the toppings all the way out to the edge, as if to say "Crust? Crust?! Crust is for suckers and saps, this pizza is ALL saucy". I'm a HUGE fan of their buffalo chicken cheesesteaks, which are just filled to the brim (do rolls have a brim?) with juicy, spicy chicken and sauce. This is my family's go-to spot for takeout the 70-80% of the time we're not feeling the Manco & Manco (goodness it feels weird to write that) prices but STILL craving a delicious pie. Bonus, while there's not really a "Parking lot" there are normally some pretty easy spots right in front if you're picking up.

For years my father in law has insisted M&M for our annual pizza night, but this year he caught sight of the price per pie ($18) and we decided it was time for a head to head comparison. Three pizzas from M&M, and three from Express, based on prior Yelper's 5-star ratings. Orders were phoned in, and we waited. Express was the first to arrive, in an astonishing 15 minutes...on July 4th, nonetheless. M&M arrived about 20 minutes later. Advantage? Express, especially as there were about 8 hungry and whiny children involved. Price also was a decided advantage to Express. Tab for three pies was $46, where M&M was $58. Of course, it comes down to taste, and despite the split decision amongst the adults in the family, I have to give clear nod to Express. The top half of the pizza- cheese and sauce- was, imo, much more flavorful. Better ingredients, better pizza, right? The crust for Express got mixed reviews, as some thought it had a weird texture...but I thought it was better than the somewhat blackened crust of M&M. Summary? It was good, and probably better, than Manco's. Cheaper, better, quicker. Perfect ingredients for a dinner at the shore!

I go to express whenever I'm in OCNJ. They have great staff and the owners are very good, hard working people. The food is always delicious whether it's pizza or sandwiches! Always a reliable place to go to!

Good food. Chicken parm pizza is really good, just make sure to order extra sauce. We also got three different wraps, all were very filling and had a lot of chicken. Price is normal for a resort town. They were very busy when we picked up out food, some of the girls at the counter were flustered and a little rude but nothing bad. I would recommend for sure

After a long ride to the beach from New England, I was starving and in charge of finding pizza and salad for dinner. Express Pizza is located conveniently on the north side of town (where we were staying) and easy enough to find. We ordered a pizza (half cheese, the other half sausage and pepperoni) along with a large salad to split. The girl that took our order quoted us a 15 minute wait. I arrived 15 minutes later to find the pizza coming out of the oven and the salad (and dressing!) ready to go. $23 later and dinner was served. The pizza was really good! I liked the thicker crust and the sauce was a little on the sweet side. The half with the pepperoni and sausage was a little greasy, but what did you expect? However, it was fresh and fast, and it tasted awesome! Definitely put this on your list for takeout/delivery when you are at the beach.
