This Massive Hotel Company Is Registering Its Guests to Vote - AFAR

"Extended Stay America, one of the largest hotel operators in North America, is taking civic responsibility by launching the 'Stay Counted' initiative. This program aims to help guests register to vote ahead of the 2020 U.S. presidential election by transforming its 561 company-owned hotels in 41 states into virtual voter registration centers. The hotels will have voter registration 'ambassadors' to assist guests, and will provide resources like stamped envelopes for mail-in registration. Extended Stay America offers accommodations suitable for both long-term and overnight stays, with full kitchens in every room and pet-friendly options. The company maintained operations throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, achieving occupancy levels nearing prepandemic rates. Extended Stay America emphasizes the importance of voting as a civic duty and provides a countdown to election day on its website." - Michelle Baran

My mom.was staying there for a week. And the hotel is clean always smells good. The housekeeper on duty 4/26/2025. Was sooo AMAZING and very helpful with the situation we had going on. She needs a well needed accommodation! She was great in which she didn't have to help. So Thank you for that. Employees we have encountered are very friendly. No negativity in this building.

The bad: Our room had horrible carpet with holes and bad stains on it. The oven had sharpie numbers on dials, since original numbers wore off. Red pain on carpet, ceiling and bathtub. Rooms will be renovated by end of year. The good: silent room. Did not hear toilets or showers or even doors slamming at all. Super comfortable beds, reason why we booked here. The air conditioning was good set at 65 to 67. Great location.

This is an excellent hotel! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was clean and the room we stayed in was huge! The price was good too. Other hotels I looked at in the area were very overpriced and the rooms were standard size. We took a chance with this hotel and I'm glad we did! We will definitely be back and thank you so much! Keep up the good work!

Google
Nice quiet place w great service. Staff is accommodating & room was clean & cozy. Beds are super comfortable! Better to book on Priceline or similar site in advance to save $. If you just pop in, you'll pay nearly double at the desk! ☆North location seems quite a bit Better & more popular than the South location☆

Positive: I like the room set up. This is my 3rd time staying here. Having a complete kitchen is a game changer. Negative: It is sort of dated, but it is reflected in the price. It exceeds my standards for a bargain hotel.

Honestly the only critique I have has nothing to do with the hotel, but needs to mentioned. The short access road to the hotel is riddled with potholes, some of them severe. As for the hotel, the room was clean, bed was soft, and kitchen area was a big plus. The "table" is like an open kitchen island. It was big enough that I could work a 22x26 puzzle on it.

Horrible place to come to I have been here for a while now due to a house fire and my downgrade in health. I was refused a different room after my refrigerator went out after I put 400+ of groceries in it. They said there was NO Maintenance on the weekend but didn't even get moved after Monday. All my food got thrown away it took an employee from the sister hotel to fill in for someone to get my room moved I called corporate several times with NO CALL BACK until I got attacked by a nurse in the lobby, over handicap parking spots being taken. Cause they didn't want to walk 3 spaces. They filed a false police report saying I was the aggressor, I have video proof of what happened. The corporate lady MISTY on a recorded phone call threatened me that she was going to take everything from me, an tried to extort me and intimidate me to leave in 5 hours and when I declined any wrongdoing and refused to leave they began to discriminate and wrongfully evict me, they refused me keys to my room, the GM DEINA, TOLD STAFF TO TELL ME THEY HAD NO bedding, towels, wash cloths, I was denied EVERYTHING I have been receiving my whole stay up until I wouldn't let them violate my FHA rights or the disability act. I am currently still being denied anything that they have provided the whole stay starting in Aug 2024 until currently I call the corporate office to get told they are not allowed to speak with me and I cannot speak to a higher up rep. The haven't filed any evictions currently but are breaking all my rights I have turned to several agencies to figure out my rights as a tenant with a terminal illness. I had mail delivered it was here the day B4 I went down to retrieve it there is tracking info pictures and I have 2 employees one being management stating it was here when they got off work when the GM came my $80+ worth of perfume was gone disappeared the company I received it from didn't get a returned package. I had to file a police report and theft charges. Sad. This is just the beginning of many more documented recorded incidents not to mention the homeless man living in the stairwells smoking drugs ( management admitted knowing the man was there just not doing drugs!! Also recorded proof) they deny my rent payments EVERY WEEK since the attack. I'm getting punished for something I NEVER done it caused because the G. M doesn't like me, I have also had NO COMPLAINTS AND I HAVE WON GUEST OF THE WEEK 3 TIMES! I'm fighting to live while they force me to live without cleaning services or clean bedding or hygiene materials. Nothing. Please read an make your own determination I'm not telling you not to stay. Just a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. AND A STRONG WARNING!! I WILL UPDATE WHEN I HAVE ONE, or they make me sicker than my failing liver is. 😞😞😞☹️☹️☹️☹️

Disappointing Experience with Booking and Check-In I booked this hotel through Expedia, and when I arrived to check in, I was told by the hotel staff that they were sold out—even though I had a confirmed reservation. I immediately contacted Expedia, and they told me to cancel the booking, even though my confirmation clearly stated it was non-refundable. After some time, a room did become available, but Expedia informed me that I would have to pay an additional upcharge to get it. This was incredibly frustrating and stressful, especially after traveling. I had a valid booking and should not have been put in a position to pay more or risk losing the entire reservation. Overall, the coordination between the hotel and Expedia was poor, and I felt caught in the middle of their miscommunication. Be cautious when booking here through third-party sites. I do want to note the lady at the front desk was very nice and kind and helpful at getting the issue resolved.

Yelp
Worst hotel to stay at. My original room smelt like p***. So I asked to be moved they moved me into 225 and in the midst of me moving. I forgot some of my belongings and they told me my stuff was not there anymore. Housekeeping. Stole my things. And all the manager had to say. We didn't see it so it must not be there. How about you ask the housekeeper?

Yelp
Place is a dump. Our room smelled like someone cooked chicken inside the room everyday for a year.

Yelp
In a word: disgusting. I got my own cleaning supplies and sanitized everything (and I mean EVERYTHING). Whoever gets my 3rd floor room next (mid June 2022), you're welcome. They charged a cleaning fee for my pet, which is reasonable and understandable, but could they at least use that to clean the room? The run-down: "Clean" towels had various hairs all over them (one long blond, one black/African American, neither of which could belong to me or my partner); stained sheets; all vents were filled with dust clumps; bathroom sink clogged and had an earring part lying in it (we don't have piercings); sticky, stained, & smelly carpet; place reeked of grease/fried foods; leak inside fridge so bottom shelf had 1/4 in. standing water (I put in a catch tray and a towel); I wiped down the fridge, stove, counters, table, and sinks and nearly gagged at the color the wipes turned; even after sanitizing shower, I still wore shower-shoes as the bottom felt slimy; ripped, stinky curtain on window; pillow cases look clean but don't look inside at the actual pillow . I hate giving bad reviews (I really mean it! I am usually super nice), but I think people should know the truth before deciding where to spend their money.

Yelp
This was one of the absolute worst hotels that i've ever stayed in. This hotel was smelling of weed and me and my family told the man working at the front desk. This is completely unprofessional. Then once we get checked in then we go to our room which was 210. We walk in and then we see that there are spots on our sheets. I was disgusted. The whole hotel smelled like weed. I think that this is just gross. So this needs to be dealt with.

Yelp
My husband and I came to Ft Wayne for a wedding. It was a cold rainy weekend but the ladies at extended stay made it bright and cheerful. We checked in super late Thursday night and the young women who checked us in was fast and friendly and even made a few recommendations on places that were still delivering. The beds are comfortable and the room temperature was easy to adjust. The bathroom was clean and the small kitchen was convenient for storing our leftovers. I took away one star because they do not provide a kettle or coffee pot in the room. It would have been nice to have tea in the evening or not have to go downstairs each morning for coffee.

Yelp
Spend the extra $20 for a different hotel. I slept on the pull out couch. Why you ask? Because believe it or not that terrible thing was more comfortable than the bed in the room. Would never stay here again. Feels old and run down.

Yelp
Shabby. No shuttle according to desk clerk, although we keep seeing a van with their logo loading and unloading passengers with luggage. Old, shabby furniture and carpet, fairly clean lobby. Rude desk clerks. No breakfast service, housekeeping every two weeks and no discount for the inconvenience. No common area, no I don't know where they would serve the breakfast they claim in their advertising. No pool or exercise room. No coffee maker. Kitchen tools available by request only and limited items. Doors slamming down the hall shook the poorly constructed, non insulated walls. Poor accomodations for disabilities. Window was open when we checked in and the room smelled smoky. Three hangers. No hair dryer. Seriously. We were told we had to bag our towels and return them to the desk if we wanted clean ones. Visible dirt on the phone. The carpet had smutz on it and what looked like popcorn and dry beans, even after our every other week cleaning, and there was also debris behind the bathroom door. I had to argue with the desk clerk to get a cleaning, she kept arguing that our room had been cleaned the week before, which it had not. I fail to see how only cleaning twice a month helps with Covid19, and why we weren't told about it until after we prepaid for a month. The top sheet was wrinkled and not crisp, as if maybe the housekeeper put a dirty one back on, so we checked with ultraviolet light, and there were bio stains on the side of the bed that had not been slept on, and since we got the light, I checked and they were also on the carpet. My companion was afraid of retaliation if we complained so he used the stained sheet. Some small spills on the dresser were not touched. The cable frequently lost signal for extended periods of time. The halls smelled like old salami. The vending machine was not refilled. The reviewer who said to spend $20 more on another hotel was right. The Sunday housekeeper slams and bangs door or something in a steady, wall shaking rhythm. So much for a day of rest.

Yelp
3 stars for the hotel, but one extra for the great service. I was in town for a very unfortunate situation. I needed to check in early (approx 10am) before spending the entire day at hospice. I called them and they did accommodate me. Then on my day of checkout, I had to unexpectedly leave urgently that morning. It was very early, about 6:45am, front desk clerk doesn't arrive til 7am. I arrived in the lobby unsure what to do. Luckily, another employee, who was on the phone in the back, had heard me come down. She came up to the front to assist me. She took my keycard and my email info. Not too much after that, I did receive an email with my receipt. This was such a huge help. Thank you! This hotel was well priced ($70 approx plus taxes). The hallways definitely need some ambiance.. add some artwork, lighten the paint work and change out the fluorescent overhead lighting... and yes, the elevator has an odd odor. For the room, I again suggest to add artwork to the walls. The furniture and decor could definitely use an upgrade as well. But, this is a budget destination so you do have to set your expectations. I was only there for two nights, and was truly only there to sleep, so I didn't get the opportunity to use the kitchen (other than the refrigerator).

Yelp
It was a terrible stay. The people above us not only had a large dog that ran and jumped off furniture all night, the had children opening and closing the kitchen cabinets and slamming them. This was from 9pm to 12am then 4 am until we left, called office twice, the flooring between the rooms creak making it sound even worse. There was an odor and the elevator sounds like it's getting ready to break down. Will not stay again, too many other good options in the area.

Yelp
I've stayed here twice. The rooms are nice and big. More importantly they're clean. Fridge and microwave in the rooms. Beds aren't the most comfy which is the only reason I am not giving 5 stars. Worth every penny.

Yelp
Stayed here twice. First time was in 2014. Rooms are good sized, beds comfy- regular sized fridge. Allows pets. First time we stayed reservation was handled fine - price was what was quoted. There was however a huge party going on above us - front desk kept blowing us off about noise. Finally said we would call police ourselves - then - boy oh boy - things got quiet above. Fast forward to March of 2016. Call to make reservation through national reservation line. I'm quoted one price because I have a discount code - get a confirmation email without that price - advise the agent of that - she says it's coded in their system - will appear at check in. I say OK - since that is what happened the first time. Come check in time - no discount applied. Manager cannot be reached for 45 minutes - finally get her on the phone - offers me 20% discount & says corporate has to review. I say no to discount with manager because my discount code was higher. Our room was on the 2nd floor - elevator smelled horrific. Room was ok - but there were 4 of us staying in it. 2 adults, 2 teens. Only 2 sets of towels. Went to ask for more towels - was told NO!!!!! Not allowed. Really - then how are we all supposed to have good hygiene? Ended up making do with what we were allowed. Corporate conveniently couldn't find the email or that part of the recorded conversation was missing. I will never ever stay there again. Was it really worth losing a customer over $35? I think not.
