She’s incredibly friendly, professional, and always makes a point to greet me and other clients with a smile. Her welcoming attitude and attention to customer service create a positive atmosphere that truly stands out. The staff at this location is excellent, upbeat, positive and fun, they care about the clients and go out of there way to make sure the customer's are happy well taken care of and safe. The facility is clean, bug and rodent free, and secure. One staff meme er even went out if his way to stay late and accommodate me in an emergency situation. The manager is obviously a great leader and the employees are happy and enthusiastic, all in all this is a great facility. My only complaint would be the extreme expense, but this is a corporate issue that is in no way caused by the management or the employees. 5 Stars all in all.

Top notch customer service at both the Otis St and Fulton locations. The space I'd reserved at Otis wasn't big enough (my bad) and the next size they had available was more than I needed. They found me the perfect size space at Fulton. Everyone I worked with at both locations was super helpful and friendly. Spaces were clean and feel very secure.

This is basically a shout out to a lady named Janica who was running the place when I rolled up last Friday night 30 minutes before closing. There were several people who wanted her attention at the same time but she maintained unfailing courtesy and composure throughout. It took me about 60 minutes to get my unit squared away and loaded up and it looks like the other customers went away happy, too. Serious People Skills. Whomever talent-spotted and trained her deserves a pat on the back as well! As to the place, it seems clean, well-lighted and well-organized. Parking is a bit tight but overall, I was happy with the deal and glad to get the item off my to-do list.

The staff could work on their customer service. I got my unit 2 weeks ago. While organizing it today I shut the door for privacy because of sensitive items contained in my unit. When a migraine came on, I put my head down on my couch. Then my door was thrown open and a mannish woman was screaming at me to get out. What the hell is that all about? So, I got in my car (nice car) and left. In addition to Mr experience, the location sucks.

I have been using Extra Space Storage since this past February, and they are easily the BEST storage place I have EVER used. I have used various other storage places in my life, and the standout aspect of Extra Space is, besides their EXCELLENT customer service, is that, unlike other storages places, Extra Space gave me an extra day to pay my storage, AFTER the date by which my unit should have been foreclosed and gone to auction (also they text you AND call you on your last day to pay before foreclosure, which is SO helpful because i cant keep track of anything). Finding out that they would still give me an opportunity to pay (which I did) was SUCH a good feeling! I was SO relieved I cannot EVEN tell you. Other storage places I've used did NOT do that. The day it was foreclosed was the day it was foreclosed, although I was welcome to bid on my stuff once it went to auction. Obviously I cannot promise that if you get too behind on your payments w/Extra Space, that they'll give you extra time to pay like they did with me. But it certainly seems that there would be a good chance of it, unless you did something, broke the rules of the place, or irritated them in some way, I don't see why they wouldn't show other people the same understanding that they showed me. Obviously if we're going to the trouble of putting our things in storage, it's stuff that we care about, and Extra Space is the only storage place I've ever used that seems to be aware of that.

People are bringing their valuable possessions in order to keep it safe. This place is the opposite from safe. If you want to give them ur money and donate all your possessions- then it's the right place to do so. I was renting the space originally for a friend of mine for $80 a month.. which supposed to be under $1000 a year...hmm i paid double of that sum and they stole all my possessions including passport SS card, diplomas etc. Why did I pay $2000? For what? Manager is a lier. Do not trust her. She looks friendly at the beginning but don't buy it. She is a criminal and using her authority to jack the customers. After I overpaid twice for that storage.. she denied my access to my possessions..put the lien on it charging $600. After I spoke to her in person asking how much time I have to pay this off she lied to my face and without any notice auction all my possessions estimated cost of $20K a week before the date she told me in conversation. It is a biggest fraud and scam I ever faced in my entire life. I believe that kind of practices are illegal and should be prosecuted. Later on I found out that it is a common pattern for them to rob their costumers..BE AWARE.

Beware of the web pricing bait and switch. They nearly doubled my rate after only three months. When I called to complain, they person who tried to help me said that this is a common issue the company is making their employees and customers deal with.

UPDATE: My unit was burglarized. If you saw my earlier review, I have only had the unit for about a month before this happened. This tells me the units are unsecure. Very disappointed. I have had extra space storage units in other cities in the past, so this review is for this location. I hate to say this but I figure I should share it.

I was a previous customer of public storage and moved into extra space for a closer to home location. As noted in another review as well they raised my rate considerably as well without warning. When I complained they told me that is how capitalism works. My rate was lowered slightly but still way above the initial rate I had only for a few months. Public Storage had their issues but never did anything to me like that. Shame I'll have to move again as I would have kept the unit for at least 6 years.

All the excellent reviews on employees are true. Unfortunately, the owners are duping you with their "web rate". They give an ambiguois answer to term of rental rate in their FAQ. I got my space in MID march and my rent is being DOUBLED AS OF JULY! That is simply predatory. Nothing says web rate expires but their notice of increase. Not even 30 days notice. My mother passed and i had to store her things. Owners are greedy scumb. DONT RENT HERE.

I wanted to downsize my storage unit because I was getting rid of some bulky furniture so I basically just showed up at my unit on Saturday, Jan 21, 2023. Curi was working that day and went above and beyond to help me with really everything I needed. She was kind, courteous, helpful, and patient with me and what I needed. She also took time out of her lunch break to help me with some of the logistics of my move. She also helped find me a lower rate and the perfect unit. I was extremely impressed with her professionalism, her positive attitude, her helpfulness, and her customer service. While moving is normally a very stressful time for me (and most people), she made it so much easier and more manageable with her assistance. Thank you so much, Curi! You were amazing.

Without warning, Extra Space Storage sent me my monthly bill with a 100% mark up!! I complained to the local office and a kind person negotiated a lower increase; however, the increase still is almost a 50% raise in the monthly amount. This is terrible and really unheard of. I have never seen a company do this kind of sudden mark up, and with no warning. As soon as I am able to, I will change to another company. SHAME ON EXTRA SPACE STORAGE!!!

I've been with this facility for about 5 years now. I've had stellar service ever since. I recently went through a unit transfer, and the process couldn't have been easier; made even more seamless by the tireless effort of the staff. The staff at this location is so courteous, and went the extra mile to make sure I had the right size for storage.

This company has changed hands, location, management and of course, names, in the many years I have been with them (over 30) and I keep waiting for them to get a team that can last more than a year. Their accounting department is inept. It is so poorly run. They cannot find payments, they send nasty letters which have no basis and then you have to find someone who has been there for more than a few days to try to help but their personnel do not last. Very disorganized and unprofessional. It used to be a very good place in its original location and name and then like many other companies, they get greedy, try to expand, and cannot run a good business (hello, Comcast!!!). So what do they do about their failures and poor customer service???? Raise rates!!! As soon as I am able, I will get my stuff out. Sick of paying more, getting less and dealing with inept management. Every year there are changes in mgt. and then the accounting gets messed up. This location needs help!!!

Im not sure how a place where both needle addicts and the genuinely homeless are living in droves inside the storage units gets anything above 1 star. My boyfriend and I are native SFers so it should probably come as no surprise that our city and police either dont know or care about the state this place. This business appeared innocuous on our quick tour but we have since realized the reality. We have to bring mase and our dog when we visit and we never visit alone. Clearly after a few months here we are ending our contract. While we of course empathise with the truly homeless living here (we see them getting up and dressing for work and interviews and often say hello) the number of needle addicts and mentally ill is shocking. Their living conditions are shocking. They live in storage units among nests of torn newspaper and piles of collected things. On our floor alone there are probably 20 people living. Possibly more. We are torn about reporting this place. On the one hand some of these folks trying to work or find work will be out of a roof over their heads. On the other hand, our encounters with those who are using or memtally unstable have been downright scary- and their living conditions are not great. Please not support this front and these unsafe living conditions and unsafe renter conditions by storing here. There are several other well run choices in Mission Dolores listed on google and yelp.

This rating is for my experience renting a unit which I did this morning. It was very quick and the ladies at the front desk were super nice and helpful. I was shown the unit which was clean and the building seems secure. My 5x8 unit had the lowest price out of everything I had seen online even with the insurance they charge. Do note that some websites might not factor in the insurance costs they charge. The lowest tier of insurance costs $14 per month which is for $2,000 value estimate for all your stored items. I would overall recommend this to anyone who needs a unit immediately which was the case for me.

This is by far the best storage facility in San Francisco. I have to say that even with the occasional questionable character you might see around the place from time to time theft is not an issue as people are very respectful towards each other and property that isnt theirs.... the security cameras are a big help so is the willingness of the staff to review the footage of requested.. Keisha Ricardo and John are amazing they have wonderful report with everyone I've seen them interact. They are friendly and they know every person that steps onto the property. These guys run a very clean respectful facility they treat people the way they want to be treated, they're fair and are always willing to work with you in the event something comes up. I would give them 20 stars if I could.

Everyone know's moving is tough. Customer service from moving companies, etc., is not the best. I recently moved from East Bay to San Francisco (previously Seattle), and it was one of the toughest moves I have ever made. I came to Extra Space storage in a jam to unload some stuff on a Sunday, before starting a new job on Monday the following week living in my new place. It was 15min before closing, and I signed the contract. Keisha, the lady that helped me at the front desk, has great customer skills, and is probably one of the nicest people I have met. The first storage spot she showed me was exactly what I needed after a very short conversation in the front office. She warned me about the closing time was soon while I was signing the contract because I am sure she could tell I was in a jam for time. She offered to do everything else she could to close the building/office, before having to stop me from loading stuff into the locker. After doing everything she could, she could tell I was still rushing, and she even helped me a bit with two loads to my storage locker, staying a little extra time after hours I am sure (out of kindness). I couldn't be more thankful for this. Thank You @Keisha, and I hope this review finds you. You are the best. I still reflect fondly on my move due to this one helpful experience.

I recently fell on hard times and became homeless due to a bad break up with my ex GF, so I'm staying with someone I thought was a friend but he would steal my belongings so I decide to get storage to keep my items safe. Now today was hot as hell and I wasn't' dressed the part so I went to my storage unit to get a quick change of clothes so I wouldn't keep sweating. Within 3mins of me being in my storage unit the manager Keysha decides to open my storage unit without fair warning and I'm half naked she's telling me I'm not entitled to any privacy - I told her I'm just changing my clothes due to the heat she continued to yell at me and became overly aggressive by constantly opening my storage while I'm in there getting dressed. I told the manager I was half naked when you opened my unit and I continued to tell her I'm getting dressed BUT yet she kept opening my storage that I just paid $175 which is way too much as if to catch me in the act of something that I wasn't doing. I told the Manager Keysha I just need 5mins and I'm leaving she told me I needed to leave at once otherwise I WAS CONSIDERED LOITERING despite having just paid for this piece of crap. The Manager Keysha told me I needed to have my storage unit completely open despite the fact that door is 7 ft tall which makes no sense, I can see having the door half open but to have it all the way open is absurd and a complete evasion of privacy. I was also given a 1st and final warning all because I was changing my clothes in MY STORAGE UNIT THAT I PAY A ARM AND A LEG FOR MONTHLY CONGRATS YOU PLAYED YOURSELF, YOU LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER!

The basic part about storage is fine. Units seem clean, secure, etc. You need your personal code to access your floor. Cart access and management is another thing. There's only one person on staff, so if they are not at the office, you have to call the number posted on the door. The first time we called, the manager showed up right away and gave us the only remaining cart (in exchange for our ID). However, 20 minutes later when we are finished with the cart and just want to get our ID and leave, he is nowhere to be found and there's no answer on the phone number. We waited 25 minutes for him to come back (and there was someone else ahead of us who had waited longer)! By this time a crowd had formed of other people trying to use the bathroom (also requires ID exchange for the key), drop off or pick up a cart, etc. The only positive about having to wait this long to leave was the car blocking our van (whose driver was nowhere to be found when we got to the office) had finished and left at the same time as we were finally able to leave. This location is close to a large homeless encampment, so I understand they have to be cautious about who has access to carts (I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the occupants in the encampment also use this facility for storage). But weekends (especially the last weekend of a month) are a popular time for storage units, and they should really staff it such that there's ALWAYS someone in the office and available to check equipment in and out. Other tip: Driveway entrance is only for one car, so you have to be careful coming in or out. There's enough room to back a van into the loading bay, but just barely.

First time using a storage unit in the city. We made an online reservation with Keisha she helped me figure my lock and set my code. Came in on a Saturday afternoon and the office was pretty busy. John was efficient and SUPER helpful. He helped us find our way to drive right up to the big garage door and even directed us so we didn't back in to anything. He made sure our codes worked and brought us a cart (we didn't even have to ask) he was friendly and went way above and beyond. Whole facility is super clean!

This is not just the worst storage facility I've ever had the misfortune to utilize, it's the worst...anything. Ever. Others have commented on the homeless and junkies who live in the area and/or on the premises and it's true. The elevators smell like piss. The parking is cramped and inadequate. The hours are not convenient (especially on Sunday). The staff are not helpful, and occasionally downright rude. When, upon moving out, I discovered extensive flood damage to my goods, the woman at the front desk absolutely could not have cared less. There was nothing like an apology or even a simple expression of regret or concern. Just a flat denial: "That must have happened before we [Extra Space] bought the place." "What are you going to do about it?" I asked. "Nothing. That's what your renter's insurance is for." "Well, don't you even want to see the damage I'm talking about?" She didn't move an inch. "No." I could go on, but I think I've made my point. If you rent here, you will regret it.

May not be The most glamorous place but it gets the job done. I live walking distance so thy was key for me. It's cheap and clean. The staff is helpful and my stuff is safe. There are the "elements" of the neighborhood to deal with but you cannot blame the storage staff and facility for that.

I had to move all of my belongings into storage on incredibly short notice, which meant that I had a delay in packing and getting my stuff loaded onto a truck. By the point at which myself and my truck arrived at the facility they were getting ready to close however Luis remembered me from before and he stayed late so that myself and my movers could get everything of mine into the storage locker! Luis was an absolute lifesaver and has some seriously amazing customer service!

We had to move all our furniture into storage on extremely short notice. I Googled some local storage units and Extra Space Storage allowed me to reserve a unit online the night before. I found convenient since the movers were coming 9:00am the next day and I wasn't sure where I was going to store our things. Their website even shows what furniture fits into each storage space which was extremely helpful. The next morning I showed up and I thought it was going to be a disaster. There was water on the ground and customers with attitudes flying around to find out there was a fire the night before because someone was stealing power. At this time I was skeptical and thought to turn around and find another storage unit, but I didn't have the time, so I found the Sales person, Kiesha. Calmly and professionally she explained the situation and helped me find a unit that was perfect for my situation. I CANNOT express how amazing Kiesha was. While customers are coming in worried, stressed, and angry, she stayed calm and made sure everyone was taken care of. My personal opinion, a storage unit doesn't usually change from one company to another, but the service I received and saw others experience, was worth me recommending this place to others. Kiesha knew all customers by name (literally, each and every person) and even followed up with me when she saw my unit was empty. At a time where my stress and anxiety was at its highest, Kiesha made one step in my move A LOT easier. Thank you so much!!!

I reserved a 10x10 unit to store my belongings as my family relocates after a fire in the apartment above our unit. After lengthy research, I reserved space at the Extra Space Otis St. location based on price vs. numerous other locations in the area. I arrived with my movers on the clock and all my belongings and was shown a unit that was 14x7 with a 3' door opening and a large structural pole inside. When I told them this was not the unit I reserved and that I could not fit my items through the door, they told me it was actually a 10x10 unit (very confused, I responded that a 10x10 should be a square, not a narrow rectangle). The woman told me this was the only unit with ~100 square feet available and that my only other option was to go to a 10x12 unit that was almost twice as expensive. The representative then said she had no control over pricing, but could give me 1 month free, which I appreciated. However, we will likely be there for up to a year, and at 2x the price, 1 month free does little. Customer service basically told me that even if you make a reservation, someone can walk in an take the unit if it's the last one there (despite no mention of this in the reservation). Don't be fooled . . . avoid this place / company. And anywhere you go, call ahead to make sure the unit you reserved is the *actual* dimensions listed and not the last one available or you might just get something that you didn't bargain for.

They are painting over a BELOVED mural on the side of the building that has been there since 1998 due to "business decisions." The mural is of the clear blue sky and clouds and has provided spiritual relief for commuters for almost 18 years. Call the manager of the store at 415-214-5706 and/or corporate office at 1-801-562-5556 to complain and demand that the mural be repainted. The artists are still available and can repaint.

Do not rent from this facility. The Otis Street location was acquired from another storage company recently and suffers from deferred maintenance. The building was constructed in the 1920's and the sprinkler system is not zoned properly. There was a fire on the 2nd floor in April 2016 - when the sprinklers went off on the 2nd floor the fire suppression system backed up and partially flooded the 7th floor. My unit was one of those affected and I sustained over $1000 worth of damage to my property. The company refuses to offer compensation. A properly zoned fire suppression system would not flood a floor 5 stories up from the location of the incident. I was not notified that the 7th floor had flooded until I moved out in late April and discovered the water damage. Caveat emptor - renter beware!

They sent us a letter that our lock wasn't a personal lock (which it was, and an expensive one) and had been in use for years. They broke off our own lock and put a cheapie lock on our unit and sent us a letter informing us they had done this and were charging us $12.00. They had no one there to answer the phone and in a week no one has returned my call. They just took over the facility and this is one of their promised improvements. Actually the other "improvements" are no one to answer the phone, or return calls. Me thinks the service has slipped grievously and they are shameless money grabbers.

I was in need of an immediate storage and Anthony was very helpful. He explained things well, he assisted me in finding just the right storage for my things, he even taught me practises to protect my privacy. Thumbs up!

The office staff is very rude. I a disabled customer happened to have an emergency requiring me to use restroom. Well It happened to take a while as I have urinary tract blockage, bleeding hemaroids, and was experiencing diarea from antibiotics for UTI. The woman in office pounded on the door many times and hollered that she was going to break the door down as there were others weighting. I finished and i left a toilet full of blood and shit as proof that I was having a medical emergency. The woman told me when I came out that my restroom privilege is seeing revoked because I took more than 5 min. I told her again I was having medical problems. She told me so what you took more than 5 min. That is when I called her a stupid c_nt and walked off. Office staff is very rude and have no companion and discriminate against the disabled. Don't have a medical emergency there they might kick ya out. Don't do business at this location if ya don't want to be disrespected
