Eyja Guldsmeden Hotel

Like staying with relatives- inviting, cozy, great location, and top tier breakfast My partner and I flew in from America. We arrived in the early morning, with a reservation that night. The hotel welcomed us, with open arms, early. They had a delicious, decadent breakfast buffet. We ate to our hearts content and took a nap. Our 1 night stay turned into 3 or 4. The hotel was very boutique. Everything was small and cozy with a wonderful lobby area. The staff was incredibly helpful- going out of their way to take care of us. Laura was particularly wonderful. One of them overheard is was my birthday, and we arrived back from dinner to find a great bottle of champagne. They accommodated my gluten intolerance, had coffee brewing all day, and great local information.

Really lovely hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The breakfast is absolutely delicious. Found it easy to walk to the sites we wanted to see in Reykjavik but the hotel is close to tour and bus pick up stops. Highly recommend

I loved this hotel. It looked so welcoming on a cold evening in the snow. We were kindly upgraded to a sea view room. I loved the decor and atmosphere. Breakfast was great with attention to detail and some thoughtful plant based options. Friendly staff. I would recommend and it was my favourite hotel in Iceland.!

We started our travel to Iceland by driving around Iceland in a campervan, so we were hoping for a relaxing hotel stay in Reykjavik at the end of the trip when we pre-booked. We were not disappointed by the Eyja Guldsmeden. The location was only a few blocks away from downtown where there were tons of shopping and dining options, and the hotel itself was beautiful. In the lobby, we grabbed (included) coffee in the mornings and a reasonably-priced drink for happy hour. The service at the front desk was friendly and cordial. The room itself had a nice view of the mountains and was warm and cozy. It was a great stay and we would definitely go back to this hotel again if we are ever back in Iceland!Our only difficulty, understanding this is mostly outside of the hotel's control, is that some of the sidewalks on the walk to downtown were extremely icy and slippery after a day or so of wintry mix that froze over. We had to be extremely careful making our way down to Laugavegur, which had much safer sidewalks. There were even a few buses and cars that couldn't make their way up or down the icy, hilly streets and had to work their way around. So if you are going in the Winter, be cautious and walk slowly!

I just recently stayed here for 4 nights. I'd asked to be placed in a room that wasn't near lift shafts or fire doors, and when I got there, they'd given me an upgrade from a single room to a double, which was really nice. The room was large, with a big wardrobe and a safe. The mattress was memory foam and very comfy, but I do sleep hot, so I found myself waking up in the night from being too warm. The atmosphere of the hotel is very relaxed, and the dinner nice. I had lasagne 2 nights in a row, it was so good, and much cheaper/convenient than going back out to eat. The staff were all very pleasant and didn't hesitate if I needed anything. I did notice the room doors are very heavy (being fire doors), and they really slam if you don't control it when closing, but my fellow guests and I figured out very quickly that you need to hold it until closed, so as not to disturb others. It was in a good location, fairly quiet but within walking distance to the main city. I'd definitely recommend it.

Nice hotel. Clean. Spacious room. Quiet location. Just a short walk to downtown. A select pick up spot for tours. Pleased with my stay.

If you’re planning a trip to Reykjavik, I highly recommend this hotel! It offers free parking right outside and complimentary tea and coffee in the reception area. The rooms are beautifully decorated, super clean, and provide a cozy retreat after a day of exploring. The receptionist is incredibly friendly and goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. For example, my daughter was so excited to play in the snow that she accidentally left her backpack outside. We didn’t realize until we had already left the hotel. When we called 30 minutes later, the receptionist immediately went to search for it and found it for us. Her kindness and quick response made such a difference. The on-site restaurant serves delicious food in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Plus, the location is unbeatable—everything in town is within walking distance. It’s the perfect base for your Icelandic adventure!
