Highlights

This local fast-food gem is beloved for its housemade fried chicken, haunts with extra crispy cajun fries, and old-school desserts get a nod, too.

"The recipes at all Ezell’s are basically the same, but sometimes you come across a location that seems to put a little extra “oomph” into everything. Here at the Renton Highlands outpost, the chicken is just a bit more seasoned, the cajun fries are extra crisp, and even the soda tastes like it has a pinch more carbonation. It’s no wonder you can usually find a long line of people waiting for their weeknight chicken dinner." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Google
It's hard to recommend this place when they increase their prices multiple times per year. The 1lb chicken strip combo have gone from $19.99 to $24.79 in the last few years. Same quantity of food but nearly $5 more. There are better deals elsewhere.

Google
Ezells usually hits, but this location is lacking far behind. The skin of the fried chicken felt tough and leathery, very difficult to chew on! The Mac N Cheese was gross. Watery, no taste, where the cheese at?? Corn and potato salad were alright.

If you're planning to go, don't bother ordering online. I ordered spicy tenders and received regular and they forgot the dipping sauce.

I placed a pickup order since I want to skip the line. I placed it 20 mins before I came in. I come in and a group of teens walk in order and I get my food 10 mins after. They got their meal first.

Let me start off by saying I’m a big fan of ezelles, I have ate here for as long as I can remember. However recently I feel that this location has started going down hill. The last few times I’ve eaten here the spicy chicken strips have been flavorless, dry, and not spicy. On top of that I ordered the Cajun fries and the employees only sprinkle a tiny amount of the Cajun seasoning on top, so underneath the first couple fries they are completely bland. I hope my next experience is better because I love coming to this location.

Google
Normally, the chicken here is pretty great. So I decided to order the four-piece (original, legs) which was a mistake. The chicken was dark in color (perhaps from old oil?) which might not seem like it in the bright light of my kitchen (in the picture below) but it was much darker in person and smaller than what I’ve had previously bought. It looked old and not as fresh. When I ate it, the breaded skin was thin and flaky in a bad way while the chicken tasted a bit rubbery and unseasoned. I’ve previously ordered the two-piece (original, legs) which were definitely worth the money in both color, taste, and size. So seeing the contrast is disappointing, especially as someone who comes here quite often.

It will never go wrong with them. I love their spicy chicken gizzards

Yelp
It was okay. I had heard so many people talk about how amazing the food is here. I don't know if that made me go in with too high of expectations. The food was just ok not amazing. The potato salad is super bland so I wouldn't recommend that. They were out of Mac and Cheese and didn't have spicy fried breasts when I was in. I assumed that meant they would put in regular but they just didn't put any breasts in so that was interesting. Also, the price is pretty expensive. That is just my opinion though, if you love it then good for you.

Yelp
I placed an order through DoorDash. This was the first time ordering from here. The chicken and the bread was OK. However, the side of potato salad and coleslaw didn't have much taste to it. They were pretty bland. It's amazing how the cost to order through DoorDash with fees and stuff, they still increase the price for the food. Definitely not worth a second try. KFC or Popeyes would definitely be better. ***Oh I forgot to mention that I ordered the 8pc chicken dinner and received only 7pc. So make sure you count the amount of chicken you get. Be aware you might get shorted.

Yelp
Love Ezell's!!!! It's always consistent with great fresh fried chicken Helpful staff Lots of parking and places to sit

D C.

Yelp
This is my favorite of all the different Ezells restaurants! Their whipped potatoes are amazing with extra black pepper that I adore! The chicken is always perfectly crispy. I drive over from Seattle just because they are the best!

Michael H.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting. It was good. The service was very good. I need to try some of the other side orders. The baked beans were delicious.

Robert S.

Yelp
The food was not great but was OK. It seemed more like fast food but I do not think that is what they were going for. The sides seems nice but they were missing most of them. We did try the peach dessert but it seemed like canned peaches mixed with vanilla. The food was not horrible but we won't go there again. I have a feeling that this place was very good when it first opened but the owner lost his focus so he puts a pick of himself with a famous guy on the food channel in the store to impress us.

Yelp
I was reminded why I don't go to Ezelle's anymore Here's my recent experience at the location off of fourth Street in Renton. - I tried to place an online order and got errors when attempting to submit - apparently they stopped taking online orders after 730 and they refused to take my order over the phone - I was told that there are three items that can be taken over the phone (gizzard is one of them and was part of my order) - I made the journey over to the location to place my order and service was not great. The male employee working the register (who I believe I spoke to over the phone) was dismissive and not helpful. On top of everything I would've expected my food to be fresh since I was required to come in and order, but it was not. I will not be returning to this location, and will likely avoid Ezelle's going forward

Yelp
Ordered a pound of strips through door dash. Paid extra for a "bag fee" only for them to have my box of strips turned sideways in a PAPER BAG?! With the rain and condensation ALONE, this could've been a disaster! Common sense would tell you not to be cheap and package food in this manner and to go back to the plastic bags you used to use, especially for as much as you charge. To make matters worse, I found a long dark brown hair in one of my strips. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Why aren't you all using gloves and wearing hairnets?! I am very angry, disgusted, and disappointed.

Daniel D.

Yelp
12-28-23. Something wasn't right with the food. Chicken dinner, mac and chez & beans.

Yelp
Ordered EZells chicken from Renton Highlands store. It's sad that that's all they ever use is DoorDash to deliver first time I have them deliver took forever for it to show up food was stone cold hard to communicate with driver as they did not understand English through text. Got brave and ordered from Ezell's again on a different day driver never showed up with order sent picture of wrong house. Try to communicate with them. Every text was sent to me in Spanish which I don't speak Spanish. I am an English speaking American so I texted back by using a Spanish translator, which they should have to do not I. Never received my order contacted DoorDash so they sent the order back out as a re-order same problem they deliver to even a different house as it was a different picture they sent this time and what really is bad as you say hand to customer and they just drop it off at random houses I texted back to let them know that it was the wrong house no response from this driver at all contacted DoorDash again to get a refund ended up having to call Ezell,s again to re-order and pick up myself DoorDash never fixes these issues. They just continue to hire incompetent drivers and expect you to pay service fees and tip them. What a joke. I sure wish these restaurants would quit using DoorDash. Note this review is about ezells using doordash the restaurant is fine they just need to stop using DoorDash so I was going with someone else don't order directly from the restaurant because they always use DoorDash. use a different delivery service. EZELLS SHOULD REFUSE TO DO BUSINESS WITH DOOR DASH!!! It's costing them customers

John C.

Yelp
The chicken was tender, the fries nice, service was prompt, service was friendly. Small but nice. Pleasurable experience and food.

Polina K.

Yelp
Best chicken around. Everything was great. One of my sauces leaked and the person working at the counter replaced it. I'll come back again.

Marina f.

Yelp
If it wasn't for the rude employees and the drug deal in the back parking lot - my first time visit to this franchise wouldn't have been so bad.......

Chelsea A.

Yelp
Whenever I order my order is always right, fresh, and delicious. I've never had an issue with my order, and this location seems to be pretty well stocked as I am able to order what I want and it's not sold out.

Sheri H.

Yelp
I've lost count how many times I've been here. Life has been crazy, and I haven't written Yelp reviews in awhile. Ezell's needs some love and recognition. Can I say this is the best chicken I've ever had? No, but the best chicken I've ever had is made in a Dutch oven out in the Nevada desert with onions and potatoes. Nothing comes close. Ezell's fried chicken is really good, it isn't greasy, and add the other food and service here, and it's the best place I have found in Seattle to get chicken. If there's better, tell me, but I'll still come here because it's freaking good. They have regular or spicy chicken, and I'm very white so I stick with the regular. Buy the peach cobbler. It's pre-made and in the cooler, waiting for you. I have no self-control with this cobbler. The potato salad is all right. The rolls are the BEST. The coleslaw is good. The mac 'n cheese that constantly sells out in the summertime is good. Every time I've walked in here to buy food, the people working here have been patient, friendly and fast, even when I've talked to them too much and/or they are busy.

Anthony D.

Yelp
Amazing. Every time I come here, the chicken does not dissapoint! The service is amazing and quick with making the chicken, The location is in a very good area; My go to restaurant.

Christine L.

Yelp
We had to try Ezell's after we heard the hype on being one of Oprah's go tos... got to be special if she's going to have it mailed to her, lol! We ordered chicken thighs and a large fried Okra. What are my thoughts? Ezell's Chicken is quality. They serve large chicken that you can tell have been fried in fresh oil. It is crispy on the outside, kind of a texture between Popeyes and KFC. Oddly, it stays this way the next day too. The best part is the inside is moist, yet not oily. It's not the best chicken I've had... but it is good. The Okra was cut in bite size chunks, battered and also fried. I imagine these would be crazy good with ranch dressing, but they didn't offer any. I would eat here again if I craved chicken and was in the neighborhood!

Chris R.

Yelp
Good fried chicken, good fries and sides. Good customer service. Would definitely recommend.

Christian C.

Yelp
I will never come back to this location. If I can give zero stars, I would. On this day, I ordered 1 lb of spicy gizzards. I expected to wait since this item is made to order. I waited 20 minutes which I felt was excessive, but I understood that there would be a wait so it didn't bother me at the time. What bothers me is when I brought the food home only to discover half cooked gizzards. The breading was half fried and half soggy and uncooked. You can tell the person doesn't know how to fry food. All the person had to do was shake the basket so the pieces don't stick together. When that person packaged these half raw gizzards, they should have seen it wasn't cooked all the way and that person should have put them back in the fryer. If I get sick tonight and have to go to the hospital, best believe I will be contacting a lawyer. Do not waste your money here. They do not know what they are doing and people will get sick eating here.

Disco B.

Yelp
If there was a chain called Ezell's Famous Sides, it would be 5-stars allllllllllll day long. Because all the sides I ate were delicious: corn kernels, baked beans, mashed potato, sweet potato pie, and the rolls. But the chicken.....the 8 piece original pack....that was not good fried chicken. It's baffling to me that a fried chicken chain serves up everything else deliciously, except the fried chicken. *Disclaimer - I have eaten at different locations of Ezell's from Seattle to Federal Way over the years, and it's always been mostly underwhelming, but this is the first time where I felt like I had to write a review because the chicken was prepared so poorly* My kid....he says to me...upon eating a thigh...."this chicken is dry and has no taste".....I'm thinking come on kid, can't be that bad....and then I took a bite....no taste, no saltiness, no moistness, not even the crunchy skin had any flavor. My kid had to use the Chik Fil A sauce we had in the fridge just to be able to eat a little more of it. So I'm thinking, ok maybe it's just the thigh, I'll try a drumstick.....nope, same result, except it was a bit more moist, but still no taste.....the meat literally tasted like plain boiled chicken. I couldn't even finish the tiny drumstick because of the lack of taste. Did the restaurant run out of salt or other spices that day?!?! If I ever go back, it would just be for their sides.....I'll go to Albertson's on a Monday for Cheep Chicken Mondays ($5 for 8 pcs), and then buy some sides at Ezell's for a much better fried chicken meal. (Also there is no way Ezell's chicken is better than Jollibee...I read that opinion under a different reviewer....super disagree)

Alice L.

Yelp
Take out only during times of COVID, but no one really dines in here anyway? (Edit: didn't know they were take out only all the time!) Friendly staff that's family run. Chicken is almost always delicious. We always get the spicy chicken. The rolls are so good - a little sweet and perfectly fluffy! Personally not a huge fan of the sides besides the Cajun fries. Mashed potatoes don't have enough flavor for my preference, and the mac & cheese isn't cheesy enough. Deducted one star bc they often forget my hot sauce that I pay for because I LOVE it. I should've learned to check by now, but I guess I'm always rushing out in excitement to eat my food lol. The hot sauce is a must. Always a good option for a late night cheat meal and some comfort food!

Colin B.

Yelp
fried chicken with a warm roll? perfection. always order spicey 3 piece with roll and come away happy. great for lunch ordering!

James J.

Yelp
Awesome fried chicken! A bit pricey. The service is always friendly and very clean. The crinkle fries always hot and fresh!

Jaynne L.

Yelp
We ordered Ezelles the day of for our rehearsal dinner. I called earlier that day to see when we should order and the groom and groomsmen ended up getting going there and getting the order. I didn't try much but we ordered a 24 piece meal with additional tenders and they came out great! The customer service I wasn't sure bc I didn't handle that but the food was great! The skin on alll the chicken was crispy and not super oily. The gizzards and lived were amazing!!! I will definitely be ordering more and the sides of coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and beans were good as well. I just wish they were bigger.

Ronalyn P.

Yelp
Been past Ezell's repeatedly on the way home, and finally got to try this place. My first impression was that the chicken is surprisingly not that oily. I really really liked the flavoring on the spicy chicken, and that the chicken is crispy on the outside (without much oil) and tender on the inside. I ordered sides of mashed potatoes with gravy and corn as well. The mashed potatoes were kind of cold and the gravy on it had some kind of taste that I wasn't accustomed to, so it wasn't really to my liking. But the corn was good, nothing too outstanding though. The price is a little on the expensive side, if not average: $16.70 for 4 pcs of chicken, 2 reg sides, and a fountain drink. I was kind of surprised that the place isn't that big though: three tables on the inside and maybe two outdoor tables. But the customer service was fast and the staff were friendly. I'm kind of curious about what my next experiences here will be like, so I'll definitely be back. I'm not as crazy about it now as I am about other chicken, but who knows? It might just be an acquired taste and eventually I might just be converted to an Ezell's fan, just like Oprah.

Lexia S.

Yelp
I'm so blown away by how good the chicken is here! After many years of hearing about their juicy chicken, I finally tried some for lunch with my friends today. I got a half a pound of spicy chicken tenders, Cajun fries, and a roll for $10 and a small Mac & Cheese. Hands down the best chicken I've ever had. They are not stingy with this chicken, I felt like I got a lot for a really good price. The chicken was so flavorful, perfectly fried, and had a good amount of spice. The Cajun fries were okay, nothing too special but still really good. I wish they mixed the Cajun seasoning in more instead of just topping the fries. The roll... I wish I got more than one because it was so moist but in a good way. Their Mac & Cheese was average to me but again, it was still yummy! I think I'm going to be hooked on Ezell's chicken and I can't believe it took me this long to try it!

Hillary A.

Yelp
Ordered a 4 piece meal tonight half spicy half original got home and it was all original. I called they said oh our spicy isn't that spicy I'm telling them there wasn't any spicy chicken and the lady proceeds to tell me I'm wrong Then I open my mashed potatoes and gravy they are dry and only a drop of gravy. The coleslaw was mushy. I will not be going here again and would never recommend to anyone Oh my rolls were good that's 1 positive

Mya N.

Yelp
There is plenty of parking available at this location. I have been here numerous times over the years and the food is okay. I think the Seattle location is better. When I walked in there was a funky putrid smell that was hard to handle but just covered my nose with my scarf. The tables were dirty even though there was three employees and only one other customer. We ordered a pound of spicy chicken strips, spicy chicken breast and fried okra. You usually get a roll that comes with your order thats pretty tasty. It wasn't as good as I remembered the food to be. The okra breading was mushy, the chicken tenders weren't spicy enough and a tad dry and I am assuming the chicken breast was fine because my husband didnt complain about it. I had a bit of a tummy ache after I ate and I am not so sure if I will come back to this location. On the upside they have plenty of Faygo and their livers and gizzards are usually good.

Richard H.

Yelp
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN... I was introduced to Ezell's Chicken 25 years ago at their downtown 23rd and Jefferson location and have been a big fan ever since. Now living on the Eastside in Newcastle my family friends and I often hit their 4th Ave Renton spot which is one of 13 locations (worldwide). What's so special about Ezell's you ask? The CHICKEN! Their recipes and great staff simply make the best southern fried chicken offered anywhere. Whether regular or spicy it will make your mouth water and make you plan your next visit. WARNING: It can become habit forming. Oh...they also make the best soft puffy rolls in the world...some come for just the rolls or order extra...really. Round it all out with strips french fries cole slaw deep fried okra and delicious peach cobbler and bread pudding. You can get a two piece snack a three piece dinner or a bushel basket full of crazy good chicken for a party...don't forget the rolls. Folks if you happen to be close to a location (within a hour drive) make the trip and see what I'm talking about. You will be happy you did...promise. Don't forget the rolls, Ricard y Julia

J'Anne C.

Yelp
The chicken tenders are to die for, and I leave my comfort zone and get the spicy version - they're super good and not overly spicy. My favorite is the honey mustard dipping sauce to dip them in! I only wish they'd let you order chicken tenders by phone to pick up. I was told yesterday they only take phone orders for over 5 lbs of chicken tenders. Doesn't make any sense to me - 5 lbs is way too much for two in a single sitting. I was rushing home from work, had to stop by the post office and Walgreen's, then Ezell's The last thing I wanted to do after a 10 hour workday is to have to wait for my order of 2 lbs of chicken tenders for hubby & me, when it could have been ready and waiting had they let me call it in. They also forgot my peach cobbler on a recent in-person order, but even with that, I still return time after time for their delicious chicken tenders.

Nava O.

Yelp
Ezells... many pros and cons in general. This location though, I may not return. PROS: Their locations are in just about every city. Their chicken is pretty good. Crunchy and flavorful! Their biscuits are amazing, and they also have gizzards and fried okra on their menu. CONS: The wait is sometimes ridiculous... I've also called in my order before and it seems to be forgotten when I arrive to pick it up. The prices are extremely high! Their mac and cheese is lacking. Portion sizes for their sides are just the worst. My last visit, I ordered the half pound spicy tenders combo that comes with a regular side and a biscuit. The side I chose was the mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was dry and did not taste very appetizing, like it was made the night before, heated up, and dried out. I know I am not a Seattle native, but hearing history from the grape vines, their food used to be on point. Now, apparently, it's just not worth it.

Harrison L.

Yelp
Trash service from cashier. That attitude can't give him a job. I can't even imagine what kind of job he would be good at if he can't even respect people and customers. this is specifically for Renton Highlands location. Management needs to clean house

Jasmine T.

Yelp
I come over here with my sister for lunch to go, she just highly recommended this local famous fired chicken so I give a try. Ordered fried chicken combo with a roll cake, have to say some corner store probably do better. Sorry Jane, 3stars is pretty fair.

Daily Devotionalz W.

Yelp
I went in the Renton location because thanksgiving is approaching and I didn't want to cook. BAD IDEA! My whole house got food poisoning. It has been horrible! Uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea and stomach contractions. My one year old, 14 year old my mom and myself have been down for days. It had literally messed up my thanksgiving! I will NEVER in this lifetime eat Ezells again. You couldn't pay me to eat it.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Based off some of the most recent reviews, I don't doubt the chicken is good here but man, the employees are some of the worst I've ever encountered. I've gone to this location twice now. Once 2 years ago & again a couple days ago. Employee attitude is just as bad now as it was then. The girls that work there simply don't give a rats bottom that this is their job. It's more like a second home they can be their awful little selves in. If they're out of something you're trying to order, don't expect them to show any signs that they care. They're just there to push some buttons, take some money and throw what they have in a box for you. With how little effort they put into their work, you'd think they sleep like babies but doesn't seem like it since when you walk in you'll be met with some grouchy, unkempt faces.

Cheryl G.

Yelp
Ezells is a local favorite that's been around for quite some time. Their new spot opened up near the Renton airport and is in a better location. The dining area was clean and welcoming. I ordered the half pound chicken tenders with fries, and bbq sauce. They accept cash and debit cards but not Apple Pay. Chicken is freshly made and seasoned well. And their plenty of side dishes to choose from. I recommend their peach cobbler if you're in the mood for something sweet.

Bobbie W.

Yelp
Ok- so I order from this place weekly- their chicken is amazing, rolls are to die for. However, their fries ARE AWFUL. they're undercooked, I called and requested the fries extra crispy due to the other times they weren't cooked properly (fries). They were raw and under cooked. I spoke to someone when I called and SPECIFIED that I wanted them crispy, I called and asked for the manger and I couldn't understand him at all. What I could make out, was he blamed DoorDash. I contacted DoorDash to no avail. Just a recording. Bottom line, I don't know whether to blame door dash OR EZELLES. Either way, the money I spend - I'm done!!!

Eryn W.

Yelp
This has been my favorite fried chicken place in Seattle since I was a kid! Today I had their spicy chicken strips and they were moist, flavorful and delicious. Unfortunately, the spicy chicken wing I ordered was very dry and I couldn't finish eating it. The perfectly crinkly and crispy fries were wonderful, along with the tangy barbecue sauce that I got with the strips. Only reason a star is lost in this review is the dryness of the wing.

Bobby N.

Yelp
The staff here is rude and made my first experience here a bad one. They messed up my order and even got defensive when I told them that they got my order wrong. The food is good but the workers need to go get educated on customer service.

Ed H.

Yelp
The sides were great, especially mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as the BBQ baked beans. The chicken was ok. The rolls were great.

Kelz K.

Yelp
Customer service at this particular location is extremely terrible. The girl who answered the phone the 1st time hung up on me as if she couldn't hear me, I called back and she had a nasty attitude. They wouldn't take my order for chicken strips over the phone because they claim it onlt takes 5 minutes to make, but every time I make an order in person I'm waiting well over 30 minutes for my order. I tried to explain I'm 5 minutes away and she claimed it was "policy" then hung up on me before I could even try for an alternative option. I'm sorry that you hate your job but you should not take your negative attitude out on your customers. This is not what Ezells used to be about, the founder was kind and you could taste the Love in the food. Definitely won't be coming back, and making sure friends and family don't have to go through the same experience.

Jaqueline A.

Yelp
I ordered my food by phone, it was my first time to buy food at this place, the lady that took my order was not polite over the phone but I assumed it was because she was too busy, when I asked her if the order of chicken includes mashed potatoes and gravy, she told me that it comes with the order. So I picked up my order, and my first impression when I get there was negative because the ladies at front were not friendly with the costumers. When I got home I noticed I didn't get the mashed potatoes and gravy, well, I went back then the lady checked the receipt then her reaccion was this "what do you want? you not even paid for it" I was embarrassed and confused, I told her: I understand if it doesn't come with the order, but I had told it comes with it! well I desided to buy it , I proceeded with my order of the Mashed potatoes, then the ladies looked at each other rolling their eyes on me! One of the ladies looked impatient steering on me and she asked me: so you want all or not? very disrespectful. I end up not order anything and walked out! I am Disappointed with the COSTUMER SERVICE at this place!

Paul C.

Yelp
So been to ezells ALOT all over Washington. The Seattle one is still the BOSS. The chicken strips here were on par with most others. The were out of spicy thighs so got a couple of fresh ones. My 2stars is this one compared to others. Reason for 2 stars is sides were horrible. Mash patatoes were dry and no gravy. DONT ORDER THE MAC & CHEESE. Was like day old craft Mac and cheese. Not like at the other Ezells

Kevin F.

Yelp
By fary favorite chicken joint. I love the spicy batter and the original. The gizzard's are great. The prices are reasonable

Michelle L.

Yelp
This place is a really solid option if you're craving fried chicken. I think of it like KFC or Popeyes but actually good quality. Although it's been quite a franchise-esque itself with many locations they haven't sacrificed in quality. This time around we ordered the one pound chicken tenders combo with two sides which I felt was perfect for two really hungry people or three semi hungry people. I am in loveeeee with the new Cajun fries (unsure if it just came out or it's been out a while). They are like those crinkle cut boardwalk fries except not as thick. The tenders were really yummy. I almost wish their spicy tenders were even more spicy as I couldn't really tell the difference between that and normal. Mac and cheese also solid.

Carina M.

Yelp
I do like Ezell's, but I prefer their chicken strips to their actual fried chicken. Love that they serve crinkle cut fries and their biscuits are to die for! I've always had good customer service each time I've come here. We've had to part ways with them (well, hubby more so than me!) because they use garlic and onion in their batter. Yummy for my tummy, but for hubby's tummy it sets him off in ways that no one should ever experience. Parking and area can be a bit sketch when the sun goes down...well, and maybe during the day, too...but I love this place and the workers. Always super friendly and so pleasant.

Yelp
What a waste of money. On Oprah's recommendation, I tried to like this chicken but I cannot. I have given Ezell's two tries, two different locations both consistently awful. Tonight the weather is cold and wet so I opted for Doordash (who I love using) and Ezell's in Renton...10 mins away. Three pieces of white chicken were hardly recognisable and I HOPE were old chicken pieces that sat out for a few hours because they were not edible. One was too dry and the other pieces seemed old. I don't know nor do I care what rancid oil they are using but stay the hell away from this place. I ate a few bites (I was very hungry) but ultimately tossed the whole order. The sides (mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw) did not measure up to even cafeteria food. I cannot believe that people eat this stuff. If this was my first try I would let it slide to a bad night, but as this has happened twice this must be their regular way of doing business.

Yelp
I LOVE Heaven Sent Fried Chicken and knowing their back story, I decided to see how the company originated from Ezell's Famous Chicken. Maybe I'm jaded towards Heaven Sent but after reading other reviews, I think I'm on point for giving Ezell's on 4th St in Renton a 2 star rating. Like many have experienced, the customer service at this place is non-existent! I waited for more than 5 minutes before one of the wait staff acknowledged my presence. Compare this to Heaven Sent on 3rd St in Renton where it's a FUN experience that makes you feel like you're in the South - I like going to Heaven Sent just for their Southern hospitality. Being that it was my first time going to Ezell's, I asked the cashier what she thought about Ezell's versus Heaven Sent Fried Chicken. Sadly, the cashier did not know what I was talking about and could not give an opinion. My go-to meal at Heaven Sent is their spicy chicken strip combo. The same spicy chicken combo strip was found at Ezell's and suprisingly, for the same price. The quality of the spicy chicken strips at Ezell's cannot compare to Heaven Sent. The strips at Ezell's were very dry with thin batter that lacked flavor. A fellow Yelper informed me that Heaven Sent uses buttermilk and that makes all the difference in flavor/taste/texture. I almost did not want to finish the chicken strips from Ezell's because they were so chewy but alas, I cannot waste food. The side dishes of coleslaw and potato salad tasted almost identical. The rolls were dry whereas, Heaven Sent were flaky, warm, sweet, and one of the best parts of the meal. If you're a Heaven Sent Chicken fan and curious to know where the chicken originated from, do not go to Ezell's. Just trust that Heaven Sent is far superior!

Yelp
We love the spicy chicken! The potato salad and baked beans are amazing too. We always call ahead to pick up to get it quickly!
