Ezell's

It's an old school restaurant and I liked it. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and crispy yet juicy. The hush puppies were crispy and yet still soft soft. The snapper was cooked nicely, as well as the fried okra.

Lunch menu...food was seasoning just right. We will be back. Waitress was attentive and was seated with a minute. Outside patio and complimentary hushpuppies and coleslaw.

We always love to eat at Ezells. We make a special trip every time we go into Georgia for holidays to stop by and eat. Always the best food. The bathroom floors are starting to get sticky and look dirty the building is old and seems could use a good cleaning but the food really is amazing and it's not dirty just old building and sticky floors bathroom was overall clean.

I forgot how good their food was. It's been over 30 years since I ate at Ezells. Their food still taste the same. I have to stop myself from eating all of the coleslaw or I won't have room for my other food.

The food and service were good except the shrimp should have been cleaned before serving and the onion rings fried a little longer. The restaurant could use a good scrubbing. The grilled catfish was excellent.

My wife and I treated her parents, for their birthdays, to a great meal. Our server, Brianna (#23), was super. Friendly, attentive, and comfortable. The manager/cook was great. My Calabash and Blackened Fish was delicious.

Food cooked and served hot. Ordered fried catfish with baked potato. Hush puppies and slaw very tasty. Restaurant was almost empty. Besides me, their was only one other family of 3 close by. Could have been that I arrived at 7:40pm, (and the restaurant closes at 9pm), nonetheless, that was the crowd count. Waitress didn't take long to serve me, and food was great. This use to be my go to spot prior to 2020, and the restaurant had been full of patrons. Not sure what changed or if I'd eaten out here during a less busy time. Overall, I'd return again, but I always keep an eye out when booming restaurants are no longer filled with patrons.

Food was hot....seemed to be right out of the grease!!! Very good food.

Not like I remember. I have been here several times but it's been a couple of years. Tables need refinishing. It has a sticky feel. The slaw recipe has changed. I remember it being sweeter. It tasted more vinegary this time. Hush puppies were still good. The slaw is the one thing I used to love, but I was disappointed. The catfish filets were ok. They didn't taste clean. If you've eaten a lot of catfish you know what I'm talking about. Sometimes catfish can taste "dirty". They just need to pay more attention to the recipes. It's still an ok place to eat, but it could be better.

From the service to the food, it was neither great nor awful. The complimentary hush puppies and slaw were possibly my favorite part of the meal. The grilled catfish and cheese grits definitely left a lot to be desired.

My favorite catfish place in the area. Food is always hot and fresh. I have never had bad service. They are always kind and accommodating. Restaurant is very spacious and it was not really crowded as normal. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Great fish, shrimp and the gumbo is very good as well. My other favorite is the crab claws when in season.

We Love the Food, the Service, and Ambiance!!! Patrice is such a Delightful, Friendly, and Extremely professional lady. We Love her to death. Always know what we want and brings it out with a Beautiful Smile!!!

The food is always the greatest. Customer services is an A plus, plus! Prices are great and portions are phenomenal.

Stopped in while visiting my son at Fort Moore. It's on the Alabama side which is so much nicer than Georgia BTW. The place smelled clean and the tables were clean but the floor was really sticky everywhere! The waitress was amazing, helpful and very good at her job! I loved her enthusiasm! We ordered some beers, 3 Po boys and fries. We were given huge , delicious, crunchy , spicy hush puppies for the table to enjoy before we got our food. Also some cold slightly sweet coleslaw. What a nice surprise !! The oysters on my sandwich were slightly breaded and just delicious!! The sauce they gave us on the side was such a compliment to the sandwich! We were welcomed with open arms and I would def recommend this restaurant to all!

I can't speak on the service or ambiance because this order was a pick up however, the food was pretty good. I had the grilled shrimp and they were seasoned to perfection. As my side I ordered cheese grits, They could have used a little salt in my opinion but they were still good. My plate also came with coleslaw and hush puppies. The hush puppies were delicious.

Everyone knows that you have to go to the coast to get good seafood, at least in most cases. I stopped in Ezell's the other night, my first time, and I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, it is not a "fancy" place but it does have atmosphere in the form of a certain rustic charm. The food was sooo good; it rivaled the better restaurants on the Gulf. Now of course I didn't try all of their offerings, but what I had was superb. The hush puppies were great- moist, well-seasoned, and flavorful. The cole slaw was waaay above average, great flavor and NOT just cabbage swimming in a pond of mayonaise, and the fish- simply spectacular. I stopped in for catfish, but when I got inside, there was a sign about a red-fish special, so I went with that. Oh my goodness I enjoyed it so much. And the service, I was waited on by a young woman named Brianna. She was awesome. Very friendly, attentive, and personable. The entire meal and experience rates 5 stars with me. Needless to say, but I'll be back on my next time in Phenix City!

Been here to eat twice and have thoroughly enjoyed both experiences! The customer service and wait staff are awesome! Probably some of the nicest waitresses you'll have in Phenix City. Complimentary hush puppies (which are always served hot and fresh) and some of the best cole slaw I've ever had. Love the variety of options on the menu from fried to grilled. I've gotten the grilled shrimp, baked potato & chicken wings and all were great! I'll definitely be back for my seafood and cole slaw fix!

Happy to have visited Alabama! Stopping at Ezell's was a treat. Tried "hush puppies" for the first time ever! Absolutely delighted, and even more so....It's complimentary on the house. I did go on the naughty "everything fried". Now I will pay for it cause Santa now might not pass by. Service was quick. Had their cat fish and shrimp. Taste and serving size (small) to main dish was near perfect, as there is so much more you may want to try from the appetizer selection. And remember the complimentary hushpuppies on the house? oh and coleslaw. Highly recommend this place. Sport fanatic friendly. Prices are easy on the wallet. Food delish. Easy parking. Funny hunting and fishing theme decor. Restaurant location off a major highway. Can't miss it! Enjoy.

This place is good. It has a country decor that is very fitting for the restaurant because it gives the impression that the animals were hunted in the process of securing the food that they are preparing for the customers. The food and service is really good. The food is cooked upon order. Ezell's serves hush puppies and slaw while you wait. I ordered fish, shrimp, and grits. My food was well seasoned and very good. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling through the area.

Ezell's is an excellent place to go if you are craving whole (or filet) catfish. Great service, food, and good old-time ambiance. But be advised...they are on Eastern time zone and close at 8pm Tuesday thru Thursday and are open later on Friday & Saturday. My buddy & me made the mistake of showing up at 7:15pm on our Central Time and were out of luck. So, lesson learned...be aware of them being on Eastern time or call ahead. You won't be disappointed.

This is the best catfish I have ever had (and I've had a lot). The very light breading was so good. They offer free hush puppies and the coleslaw is awesome (we got seconds on both). There were so many great options to choose from. As an appetizer we got the fried oysters and they were yummy. For our entrees, we got catfish, alligator, and shrimp-all were great but we were both wishing we had only gone with the catfish! The service was excellent and the young lady who served us on 6/15/23 was absolutely wonderful!

Horrible odor in the restaurant the place is dirty as well. The employees look terrible.

Love this place the calabash shrimp and fried crab claws and fried green tomatoes are AMAZING But the best us the free hush puppies and delicious coleslaw I'm always so stuffed when u leave and I always have left overs go try them u will love the my waitress to just look for the loudest friendliest larger than life best waitress in the world oh only in phenix city location sorry

Gumbo was excellent. I had the shrimp po boy which was also very good. The rest of my group had the alligator po boy which they said was excellent. And the hush puppies were on point!!!!

Went here a few days ago with my family and we had a nice time. The ambiance is good, it's like your typical fisherman's-themed restaurant. The service is great, everything came out pretty quickly and our server took care of everything without us even asking. The only downside is the food didn't have much flavor, even after giving it another chance. The coleslaw is great but the hush puppies could do with a little more flavor. They taste like they're made with just cornmeal and jalapeños. My parents ordered butterfly and popcorn shrimp, my gf ordered peel and eat shrimp, and I had the grilled catfish fillet. My parents enjoyed their food but on my plate the only thing that had some flavor to it was the catfish. I tried a piece of shrimp and it tasted like just plain boiled shrimp. The cheese grits my gf ordered could've used some salt and pepper. It's a good restaurant and the service is great, but the food could use some improvement. Also, expect to pay an extra fee for using card instead of cash for some reason.

Yummy seafood goodness. The atmosphere is as expected for a 'catfish camp'... simple, rustic. Nothing fancy- just good food.

My first time here and won't be my last, everything we ordered was just amazing, keep doing what you doing. Next time we are back to your side of town we will be stopping by.

A hole in the wall gem. So delicious. The hush puppies are the best I've had in a long time. Will definitely be back.

Catfish and fries were very good. Lots of food for what you pay for. I had to get a box to go. Service was great and the young lady waiting on me was very friendly. Four stars instead of five was because the hostess seemed annoyed to have to seat me when I got there.

Delicious! I love the fried shrimp! And, the hush puppies are the best I've ever had! And, I'm from the south, and I've had a lot of hush puppies! Yummy...they serve the hush puppies and slaw, first (while you wait to order)/ like an appetizer. Unlimited refills... and you can fill up, before your main entree arrives. No complaints, just ... save room. Tip... If you aren't used to eating fried foods, you might want to take Nexium (indigestion medicine/TUMS) prior to eating. It's great! But, it's a lot of fried items! You can get blackened fish, peel and eat shrimp. There aren't (near) as many options as the fried ones. It's a treat! It's not for someone dieting or trying to eat healthy. Possible/but, hard. Most people come here for the fried catfish/catfish filet, and it's to die for! Very good! I just love shrimp, too. Fried pickles are awesome. Reasonably priced... they have a lunch menu/dinner menu. Specials for seniors and kids menu. Anyway, try it! There's 1 in Phenix City, Alabama. And, the original location in Columbus, Georgia. Both, are great! Hope you like it!

You can fill up on appetizers alone! The jalapeño cheddar hush puppies and coleslaw or very good and you get refills. The alcoholic drink menu is extremely small, so do not go here and intend to drink but the food was very good. The fried gator appetizers were amazing and the shrimp Po boy, fried catfish and cheddar grits were also great. Service is also excellent and food came out fairly quick. Will definitely return.

Fantastic meal and great service! Our waitress was super nice! My hamburger steak was great and everyone else enjoyed their fish and shrimp as well!

First time being here. We had kids corn dog and fries, gator ,fried pickles, fried chicken stripes, shrimp poboi , it was good. Hush puppies was a little to greasy but as far as everything it was good. The batter for the gator ,pickles and chicken strips could use a lil Louisiana seasoning. Other than that qe are happy.

I was in the city for my sister's graduation. Afterward we stopped in to this little place to eat..I was to my surprise very delious. They are strictly a seafood spot so don't go there expecting much more. We had one in our party that wanted scallop but not on menu. There is hot wings on menu which appear to be good..at least many customers were ordering them. Which they appeared to be locals. No a bad choice st all. The hushpuppies Greeeat!!

I've always seen signs for Ezell's and packed parking lots. I decided to give it a chance and the food was pretty good. I enjoy the side dishes but the main dish especially the gumbo was very salty. The gumbo was actually so salty I literally felt like it would give me high blood pressure after eating. The employee's were very nice and welcoming. I would just recommend less salt in the seafood gumbo. Also the kitchen needs to be updated it looked very dirty. This actually made me a little nervous to eat the food after seeing the kitchen. Overall the food was okay and cooked well just too salty.

Always great food, prices are fair and the portions are decent. Servers are fantastic. The manager Channing is a hoot. The place is like family.

Always wanted to try this place so we went here for lunch. The food was decent ... but *super tiny. I got blackened catfish (regular size). They brought what looked like an appetizer plate with fries. The fish was under the fries. $30 for lunch for 2 people. Insanely overpriced for the amount and quality. I'll never go back.

Arrived with a party of five. Restaurant was not busy. Went to Ezell's on the recommendation of a family member who had been to another location. The restaurant was clean and spacious. Not too loud, more leaning toward quiet. Server was friendly, but really slow in checking up on us, getting refills and even placing our order. The coleslaw was great. Hush PuppiesHushpuppies, nothing special. The fried alligator was really good, but there was more breading than meat. No one raced over their meal. Chicken plate cost an arm and a leg for the few strips and wings. Had to hunt down the waitress to get our check. Manager apologized, but took just as long to bring the check. We won't be back if we are ever in that neck of the woods.

If you like grease, Ezell's is your place! Sometimes a southern gal just needs good ole greasy meal in her life, and Ezell's was the sweet tea to hit the spot for this on this night. We were met by a friendly hostess/waitress. Ezell, whoever you are get that sweet bubbly gal some help, please! Let me tell you that gal held her own when it came to good service even on her own! The hush puppies and slaw she brought out for us to nibble on while we waited on our food was amazing! I call these items, "Shut up! We are making your food as fast as we can items!" They were tasty and did their jobs well! When the entrees arrived we were not disappointed! Super Dave could not wait long enough for me to take a picture before digging into his Catfish! He said it was the best Catfish he had since the last time he made some in 1997! That is high praise! His cheese grits were creamy and hot! I had the chicken fingers and fries! I wanted a greasy meal, and that is what I got! I loved every last bite of it! Now why did I deduct one star? Because there were three different groups of dinners in the restaurant the same time we were. Each group had a toddler. Apparently a new toddler language has been developed that is spoken in ear drum piercing whoops. These toddlers were practicing the language throughout the meal, and their rude parents were doing nothing to make them stop! Manners people! We live in the South! Otherwise, Ezell's would have been a straight out 5 stars!

Every time that I am near Columbus Georgia I always like to go to Ezell's. I love their catfish and hush puppies. However this last time that my family and I visited we were a little disappointed in the service and the quality. Even though the restaurant was not very busy our male waiter was preoccupied with the female staff. The hush puppies, normally hot and crispy and filled with deliciousness were a bit over cooked and on the greasy side. Every time in the past when I have visited here we have very satisfied with the quality and service. I will return here someday hopefully everything will improve.

Really enjoyed dinner tonight. Our waitress made us feel so at home. Everything was delicious from the fried green tomatoes to the seafood gumbo. Hush puppies were fabulous and slaw was great as well. Everyone there was wonderful. Would go every week if we lived closer!

Ezell's Catfish Cabin in Phenix City was on point. There is another location over the border in Columbus, GA, and I can't wait to try it. Our waitress got to the table with steaming hot hushpuppies and they were some of the best hushpuppies I have ever tried! Outstanding and you are able to have them replenished! Both myself and the hubby got the catfish filets and they were SO good. Perfectly battered and fried. We had the collard greens as a side and they were also nicely seasoned and perfectly made. The catfish filets were not the ¨size of fish sticks¨, in fact, they were were three normal sized filets, which I devoured. I haven't tried the appetizers yet, but the fried pickles are calling my name. The fried shrimp also looked amazing. They also have desserts--the waitress kept telling us about the peach cobbler. I think I will take advantage of the M-Thurs $6.99 select entrée dinners and try some appetizers and sneak in a dessert in the future! Ezell's was definitely worth it. Darn good catfish and a nice family environment.

We went on Sunday on a couples date. They were slow and we were seated rather quickly. We ordered the fried alligator. It arrived quickly but it was slightly burned. The cole slaw & hush puppies were delicious. I ordered the combo plate that included the fried shrimp and the catfish. The shrimp were very tiny and had to much breading. The catfish tasted awful & the breading tasted like corn mill and was also over battered. The waitress was nice and attentive. The women's bathroom was horrible. I stepped in and was sliding all over the bathroom floor and one of the stalls had a door missing. Just awful. I have eaten here before but they have went down terribly.

I was amazed by this eatery; everything was good and most enjoyable. From the generous portion of Hush Puppies and coleslaw, served to us while we were looking the menu over and the delicious ice tea. We ordered Cat fish, Alligator nuggets, Fried Okra, Onion rings and fried pickles. Everything was excellent and fried to perfection. The service was attentive and friendly and I loved the décor, specially the collection of antic outboard boat motors. We had a most very pleasant experience and I will certainly be back!

We visited here with family. I enjoyed the fried alligator appetizer-- never had alligator before. The rest of the family went for the catfish and shrimp dishes and enjoyed it. This is a classic fish camp. Lots of fried food. If that's what you want, it's nicely done.

Great experience. Came here on a whim passing after passing by a few times. Nice southern atmosphere. The meal came with hush puppies (very fresh and crispy on the outside while fluffy on the inside) and fresh cole slaw. Fried green tomatoes were great. All the seafood on the entrees, like rest of the food, was great. Just be careful not loading up on too many hush puppies early on. Also, great and friendly service with clean bathrooma.

Ezell's has the best catfish in town! The customer service and the food here is on point. My kids love coming here. It's definitely a good environment to take the family. I would highly recommend Ezell's Catfish!

It was my first time here on tuesday 2/10\15,and it was just ok,i wont return again. The catfish was heavily breaded with cornmeal and was overcooked and the shrimp seems like frozen.

The Gumbo was horrible as well as the catfish po boy But the Tea was fire . Customer service was good, and employees were manner-able.

Seated pretty quick, no problem there. There were about 20 to 25 tables filled when we got there, not really that crowded. The waitress immediately brought us a bowl of slaw and left. We thought that was kind of odd. She came back and said they were out of hush puppies that it would be another 10 to 12 minutes. I find that odd that a fish fry house would be out of hush puppies for any time at all, but no big deal. Overall waitress was good. Problem was the catfish, very salty, very thin, and WAY over breaded. Not a really bad meal, but we would never go back.

Food tastes terrible and top of that had a bitch of a waitress will never return highly disappointed if this is what you call good food people in the south need a lesson

This is my favorite place to dine out while leaving out of Columbus. The last 3 times have been the absolute awful. This last time topped it. I ordered shrimp and grits. Easy right. The shrimp half way done and the grits were lumpy. Man come on now. I'm spending $25-$30 for nothing. The hush puppies were hard and stale. Like not acceptable. I tried to call and were kept on hold this last time. But no more from this restaurant. Not until they show me improvements from the reviews. Please straighten up. I love this restaurant. But not the last 3 times. Big no for me.

Great hush puppies and coleslaw! Very clean, bright, spacious and friendly atmosphere. Entree prices are $14-18 on average. It's a "mid scale" restaurant. Has a "new south" feel to it. Great for groups or families. Love all the deer mounts.

There is a huge difference between this location and the one in Columbus. First off, for $10.99 I didn't expect catfish filets the size of fish sticks! I would've been better off going to Shark's! Then, the taste of the food was subpar. We were highly disappointed. From now on if we want to eat out for fish we'll make the drive to the Columbus location or just bite the bullet and go to Shark's. A friend warned us that this location sucks and that we should drive the extra miles to the other. However, we decided to give them a chance anyway. Big mistake! You'll be better off getting some Gorton's fish filets from the grocery store!
