The Best Italian Restaurants in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"Admittedly, this North Peoria restaurant’s name is open to interpretation, but chef-owner Fabio Ceschetti, a third-generation pizzaiolo, does, indeed, cook with fire, turning out excellent pizza as well as soulful Italian classics such as cioppino, lasagna, and wood-roasted porchetta or lamb. It’s entirely possible to make a meal of his bread alone, but that would mean missing out on gnocchi Bolognese, butternut squash-stuffed ravioli topped with sage-scented cream sauce, and veal piccata, tangy with lemon and capers. The small wine list is exclusively Italian and the patio is charming, so it’s safe to say that Fabio is on fire in more ways than one." - McConnell Quinn

Best Pizza Restaurants in Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"From his homey Italian storefront in Peoria, chef-owner Fabio Ceschetti turns out antipasti, handmade pastas, and light Neapolitan-influenced (but not strictly Neapolitan) pizzas, topped with ingredients imported from Italy. Ceschetti calls it “Pizza Italiana,” although his pies do have the soft, soupy quality associated with Neapolitan pizza. It’s worth noting, too that Ceschetti makes the dough from his grandfather’s starter, brought over from Italy before the restaurant opened. Check the pastry case for classic Italian dessert options such as tiramisu and cannoli." - McConnell Quinn

The food is absolutely fantastic. Fabio sources the flour and other ingredients directly from Italy and the yeast for the dough has been passed on generation to generation to make the fabulous breads and pizzas. The genuine ingredients make for a filling meal that doesnt leave you in a coma. The diplomatico and the oven baked lamb are great, the bolognese the best Ive had and the polpette are delicous! Coming from Sicily, this feels like home. Our office is close by this restaurant and it happens to be the best genuine Italian in Peoria. We come all the time. We love you Fabio 🤩

I am sad to see the quality slipping here. We moved into the area last year and started going to Fabio's in February of '25. We were blown away by the food and the staff, excited to have this true neighborhood gem so close. We would occasionally dine in but more and more, ordered take-out to have a weekly no-cook treat. About a month ago, my wife was out of town and I ordered a pizza on a Sunday afternoon. They quoted me a half hour which seemed odd but I went in at 25 minutes and found the pizza box sitting on the bar, confirmed it was my order and took it home (a 3 minute drive). I opened the box and the pizza was cold and dead, still delicious but was probably sitting on that bar for a good 15 minutes or more. This past Friday, I ordered a pizza, lasagna, meatballs and a Diplomatico for dessert. I was quoted 40 minutes so I went in at 30 to be safe. I was told that it would be about 10 more minutes so I waited outside. 10 minutes later I went back in to see them boxing the lasagna and they told me my order was ready. Great, I thought, better I wait for fresh food than the food waiting for me. After the quick drive home we were ready to dig in to all the foods we normally order. I opened the pizza box first a found a doughy blob of a pizza that hadn't been stretched enough and was literally raw around the edges, there was no way to properly cook a pie that had not been fully stretched without burning parts of it. The lasagna was basically 6-7 layers of undercooked noodles with almost no filling between layers. The meatballs, normally to die for, were tiny and TOUGH. The final insult was the dessert which was about 1/2 the size we normally see, broken into two parts and with only 1 slice of strawberry. Yes, it was a Friday night, but this was before 6:00 and the place was less than half full. There is simply no excuse for the poor quality all the way around. We will probably try again to see if this was a one-off but things seem to be heading in the wrong direction here, which is very sad to see.

The staff was friendly and inviting, and the place was nice and presentable, cozy atmosphere, but the food was extremely generic-- the definition of "mid". We ordered bruschetta, the bread was good but the crust was super hard and the bruschetta part was just store-bought cherry tomatoes and store-bought balsamic glaze. My wife ordered the Bolognese, which was decent but bland. I ordered margherita pizza. Typically, margherita has sliced tomato, basil, and fresh mozzarella on it. I asked for "a lot of basil". What came out (and I'm not even exaggerating) was a cheese pizza with exactly 4 pieces of basil on it. The pizza was thin, which is fine, Sicilian style is usually a small pizza with thin crust, but the cheese just fell off the pizza, was a bit stiff, not melt, and the crust was soggy and floppy. We also ordered a gelato to go as we were on our way to go walk around a neighborhood and look at decorations. When we got the bill, we paid for the gelato but were ALSO charged an extra THREE DOLLARS for the gelato being to-go. Overall, we won't be returning. Again, the service was fine and the staff was friendly, nothing against them, but there are a ton of great restaurants out there with unique flavors and dishes, and if we're going to go spend 60 dollars on dinner, there's absolutely nothing Fabio On Fire offers that we couldn't find elsewhere. I'm always incredibly disappointed when we go to an Italian restaurant that appears to be mom-and-pop authentic, and we end up getting Olive Garden quality.

Google
The servers weren’t very friendly or nice in general. I didn’t see a single smile the whole time I was there. The food, however, was really good! Bread was excellent. Person who was running the place was pleasant.

Google
This was my second time at Fabio's. It's amazing every time! This cute place is tucked away and when you step inside, you're transported to Italy. Hands down best Italian in Peoria and maybe even Phoenix. I've never had a bad dish here. The lasagne was layers of flavors and the ravioli are butternut squash in a sage cream sauce with prosciutto. It was perfection. Worth the drive from anywhere in the valley!!

Kaylee F.

Google
Gluten free tarantina was amazing!!my husband had the veal and Marsala sauce for his gluten free penne noodles, said it was the best he’s ever had. The piccolo gli antipasti was also amazing.

Google
Authentic Italian! Our party of four enjoyed the fine service-- not rushed, with perfect course pacing. Erika was attentive and responsive to our every question and request. We started with the complimentary bread plus olive oil/balsamic vinegar to dredge our bread through, and an appitizer of calamari fritti, then butternut squash ravioli, salciccia e fungi, pear salad, strawberry salad, and a pizza with sausage and mushrooms. Everything was delicious, the sauces rich and co plex... excellent! We will return and highly recommend.

Fabio On Fire is one of those rare gems you almost don’t want to tell people about—like a Michelin-star restaurant hiding in the most unsuspecting location. This was our second visit, and somehow it managed to be even more magical than the first. From the moment you walk in, you know you’re in for something special. The open kitchen is a show in itself. You can watch the chef work with dramatic fire flares, a blazing gourmet pizza oven, and authentic ingredients that feel straight out of Italy. Every dish is made to order, and you can taste the care, skill, and passion in every bite. Dining here genuinely feels like taking a trip to Italy—without leaving the neighborhood or breaking the bank. And don’t skip dessert. The sweets are just as impressive as the main courses: fresh, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious. The experience is elevated even further by the staff, who are warm, attentive, and treat you like family. It’s telling that many regulars know the team by name—this place creates real connections, not just meals. Fabio On Fire isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. A hidden treasure that rewards anyone lucky enough to discover it—and one you’ll keep coming back to, again and again. 🔥🍕✨

Yelp
Great service, food, and atmosphere. We love the food at Fabio on fire. We decided to cater their food for a party after a few visits to the restaurant. It was a big success!

Yelp
Felt kind of stuffy walking into this place... almost uncomfortable from the stares. The hostess finally came and asked if we had reservations...2x... to which I replied (both times) - no. Finally seated... waited about 15 minutes before someone came to greet us and take our order. Ambiance- honestly not my favorite cup of tea- was very loud.... could barely hear the music. Food: check out the pictures attached for what we ordered and what we rated it... average place... pizza and meatballs were the highlight of our order. Would I come here again- no. Feeling slightly uncomfortable can change the mood of an entire evening- including dinner.

Yelp
The food was amazing, everything felt so authentic. The menu is in Italian (with helpful translations), which added to the charm. I had the lobster ravioli, affogato, and tiramisu... wow. We'll definitely be back. Thank you, Fabio on Fire! TikTok: @alainaater

Yelp
I love this spot! We have never had a bad meal at Fabio on Fire. From the pizzas and pastas to the gelato, nothing disappoints here. We always enjoy the ambiance, either inside or on the patio, and are always met with top-notch service. My favorite dish here is the bolognese. It is hearty and filling and I typically get two meals out of it thanks to their generous portions. We really enjoy this lovely local gem.

Yelp
Their food was truly fabulous and took us all back to a nostalgic memory of Italy! Their food is authentic, their service is impeccable, and their restaurant is esthetic. I highly recommend you call to make a reservation to be sure you get a table!

Yelp
Amazing the selection of dinner items. We were a party of 3 and this was our first time trying their food. The server we had was so awesome. She wanted to know what food allergies we had at our table and was able to assist us with the food. Restaurant was very clean and staff was friendly and helpful. I loved my ravioli stuffed with short ribs and sauce. So delicious

Yelp
Great find with other Italian and non Italian friends. Menu is legit. Great serving staff.

Yelp
Visited here for a weekend lunch with a friend. The atmosphere so cute, like a cafe in Europe. I just like the furnishings and decor. The food was wonderful. I really loved both the pizza and the pasta. The pasta was very rich and incredible. The tiramisu was gigantic and oh so delicious. The service was wonderful as well :)
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic takes on Italian dishes that show a high degree of sophistication and understanding of this cuisine. The CA sea scallop and white bean purée was to die for. Grandma's meatballs were pitch perfect. Pasta was perfectly cooked. My highest recommendation.

Yelp
Amazing food. To go or dine in, worth the trip. This time we had Myra as a alleged server. 30 minutes sitting there. We finally got a drink after drinks dropped didn't se her for another 30 mi test. One person said to much salt on her butter nut sqash I had the lamb chops had to add salt. Another 30 minutes and no waitress still. Fabio sorry for sharing the truth.

Yelp
HORRIBLE SERVICE-- server Courtney handed my husband a hot plate and burned him - when. we complained- the waiter told us not to cope an attitude with him and left- The food was bland and awful There ok with injuring customers

Yelp
We were craving Italian and found Fabio On Fire on Yelp. Since we'd never been there before, we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and with the nice weather, we chose to sit outside. The tables were a bit close together, and there wasn't much in the way of decor, but it had a relaxed vibe. Our server was super busy--seemed like he was handling all the tables--but he was still really attentive. We ordered the Calamari Fritti with Zucchini, Lobster Ravioli, Salsiccia E Funghi Pizza, and Capricciosa Pizza, plus some gelato for dessert. The calamari was a little small and crunchier than we expected, but everything else was delicious and nicely plated. Glad we found this place--definitely coming back to try more!

Yelp
My buddy and I stopped by Fabio on Fire | Pizzeria Italiana for dinner. Located in a shopping center, parking won't be a problem. The name of their restaurant makes me think of the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Fabio commercials back in the day. IYKYK. Fabio was definitely on fire. Service (4.5/5): We were seated close to the open kitchen and our waitress did a great job throughout. She was friendly, checked in on us, and gave us recommendations when we asked. She's also a Michigan fan so you know that's a winner in my book. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pretty much a traditional neighborhood Italian restaurant. What I expected in the 'burbs. There aren't a ton of tables but it's homey and welcoming. Drinks (N/A): I had an Arnold Palmer so not much to report here. Food (4/5): I had the braised rib ravioli which was delicious. The braised rib and the pasta were tender and the pasta sauce was creamy. They complimented each other well. My only complaint is that the portions size was relatively small and overpriced for what you get. But still delicious. I finished things off with the gelato where I was able to pick two flavors. I went with the watermelon and the cookies and cream. The watermelon was delicious and you can never go wrong with cookies and cream. Perhaps my favorite ice cream flavor of all time. If you're looking for a solid Italian meal in Peoria, get lit at Fabio on Fire!

Yelp
Came in for some gelato without friends. Their flavors are so yummy and elevated, without being too sweet. The cups are smaller, but they do not level the gelato across the top, but they top it off with a heaping mound of gelato. Service always just as sweet. Highly recommend their pizza and paninis. They will make you paninis to go so you may make your own creations at home.

Yelp
We were looking for something out of the ordinary and boy, does this place fit the bill! The food was fantastic, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was cosy and unpretentious. When my friends from Italy come to visit I will take them here without hesitation. We will definitely be coming back regularly.
google avatar

Yelp
Tried Fabio's for the first time. I definitely understand the hype. The artesian style sandwiches and bread were amazing. The serving size is also pretty large and very shareable. Really small restaurant mostly meant for takeout but definitely worth the trip. They also had a ton of gelato flavors which just looked amazing. Next time we're going to try dessert.

Yelp
Hubby was looking for places we hadn't tried in the area and found this Italian restaurant not too far from home. We arrived at 4...they open at 4...and were the first ones seated. When you first walk in, it doesn't look too big, but after looking around, there were a few different seating areas (including outside). The pizza oven is front and center, plus the kitchen is open, so we were able to see the chef cooking. When we sat down, we were immediately brought Italian bread with olive oil/balsamic for dipping. So good!!!! Our server, Maurizio, was funny and friendly. I ordered the Gnocchi Bolognese...the gnocchi were like tiny pillows, literally melting in my mouth. The sauce was wonderful and the gnocchi so light, it was delicious! Hubby got the Lasagna, which he adored. The sauce tasted like Nonna's been cooking it all day and the pastas were definitely so fresh. We decided to try one of the pizzas, so ordered the Salsiccia E Funghi Pizza to go. We each tried a taste of it after getting home and am so glad we did. Since it was an early dinner, have a feeling we'll be digging into the pizza a little later...LOL! We're really looking forward to coming back soon!!

Yelp
I made a reservation for 2 of us for a Friday dinner. Best way to kick off the weekend and distress. It was so so hard to choose what to eat, everything looks so good from the menu. I showed up right on time for the reservation and they were not ready. I had to wait 10 mins, no problem. My friend was late anyways. When I sat in the other room with the bar, it was very cute and cozy. Read the menu again until my friend got here. I ordered an ice tea and beef short ribs raviolis and butternut sauce. They give you complementary bread & butter. Ravioli Al Brasato (Short-Rib Ravioli) - Braised short-rib ravioli with a buttercream sage sauce. WOW, I want a second order of this amazing dish. I got hazelnut gelato for my dessert. YUM! Service was ok. Friendly when you can get their attention.

Yelp
I conspicuously noticed that was indeed Fabio spinning pizza dough near the wood fired oven upon entering. I immediately had the sentient to know I wanted pizza. Quick glance at the pizza menu and we ordered the Americano pizza. I thought the pizza may have been a little undercooked. It lacked crisp on the outside, and was a little floppy in the core. I did enjoy the pasta dish. House made pasta is unequally always a treat. The sausage was flavoured delicious. Decent Italian food overall. Solid 4 stars imo.

Timothy B.

Yelp
The food wasn't bad, it tasted ok but what you get is ridiculous considering the price. We placed a pick up order for the ravioli, diavola pizza, and the diplomatico for dessert. The ravioli, this was ridiculous for what you get. This was an $18 dish and we got exactly 4 raviolis. The menu conveniently did not show a picture and I'm guessing this may be why. They tasted good, but for $18 would never order again. The pizza, it tasted good, but it was extremely salty. I know salami is salty, but this was almost too much to eat. The dessert, the picture showed a dessert with a ton of strawberries. Ours had exactly ONE sitting on top. We will not be returning to this restaurant. It's just not worth it.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
This was our third visit and we've been pleased each time! The food is truly authentic and house made which is hard to come by these days. We are big fans of the gnocchi bolognese and the tagliatelle bolognese. Our kids love the pizza of course. Service can be slightly scattered but overall everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Only reason not 5 stars is that the seating is a bit crowded and the consistency of the gnocchi has been variable - from the best I've ever had to moderately good. Nevertheless a go to spot for our family!

Yelp
First time at Fabio on Fire after hearing rave reviews. Went and found a charming decor, typical of an upscale pizzeria. Front and center was a large domed pizza oven. Service was very attentive. Drinks refilled frequently. Table ordered a variety of pizzas and gnocchi quattro formaggio. All pizzas and the gnocchi were excellent. Finished with cannolis. Host is a proud Roman, and had a pleasant chat about the beauty and charms of Rome. All in all a very enjoyable evening. We encourage people to give Fabio on Fire a try!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Today was our first time getting pizza from Fabio's. It was horrible. The crust was burnt as well as the entire bottom of the pizza. I guess it's a good thing I didn't select well done when ordering or the entire pie would have been black. If that wasn't bad enough, when you picked up the slice to eat the crust was so flimsy all of the cheese and pepperoni fell off onto the plate. Save yourself the trouble and select a different pizza place. Save yourself
google avatar

Nicholas T.

Yelp
We came for the Pizza and were pleasantly surprised. I would easily put this near the top of the pizza and Italian restaurants in the Phoenix area. The server was very attentive and it truly was a great location. This will be one of our new favorite places for Pizza and Pasta.

Joseph A.

Yelp
Fantastic experience and dinner.... Lasagna was excellent very reasonable pricing!!! Definitely a must try. Fabio the owner is the best!!
google avatar

Tiana G.

Yelp
Service was slow at first, but they corrected the issue relatively quickly. Food was good. My husband especially enjoyed the cannoli. Wasn't impressed with the charcuterie board. Pizza was good. We will be back.
google avatar

Sandy H.

Yelp
Pizza is watery and flimsy and everything fell off when picking it up. Wasn't impressed.

Damaris T.

Yelp
pizzas are super good but forget it if you're trying to place a to go order. they just don't care to answer the phone! I can't count the times we're tried to call and no answer. One time we tried to place a to go order and called three times with no reply so we decided to just pull up and place an order. Just out of curiosity we called while we were in the parking lot and literally watched from our cars as they picked up the phone and ignored the call (it's on a cellphone).

Mary M.

Yelp
Food is excellent here! Friendly, quick service. The paninis are amazing. I have not had a single one that I didn't like. There are several to choose from. Each choice is unique and tasty. The bread is phenomenal. Make sure you read the history of the bread on the wall! The gelato and desserts are outrageously good. Eat here because you will not be disappointed. Always get the full sandwich and take half home - much more cost effective that way.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Fresh pasta and friendly service! We love Fabio's! Always a good experience here and the pizza is our favorite to take home.

Yelp
Had the seafood Cipionno. Wow!! Excellent Salad was delicious Service amazing Server was Joe.

Yelp
Wonderful meal. Dined on a Friday evening. Service was excellent. Nice ambience. Wife and I will be back in the future.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner last night at this restaurant . The food was excellent the ambience lovely the recommended wine to match . Erica was a fantastic host she recommended the best dishes . A gem in Arizona we will be back for sure . Don't miss visiting this restaurant you are in for a treat . Thank you
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
Great pizza, nice selection of wine and loved the patio seating. We had a couple of different pizzas to try and all were excellent. Our server was nice but a little forgetful at times but still a good dining experience. Would certainly come back again when in town.
google avatar

Sindy E.

Yelp
Saturday night and the place was full. Family style not super loud, but very busy. Service was friendly. The food WOW delicious! I got the lasagna and wow what a flavor. Pricy but worth it
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
Another great dinning experience at this little Italian gem. This place offers quality food at an affordable price. They've expanded since initially opening which helps with availability. During busy weekend hours, reservations may be needed.
google avatar

Lucille M.

Yelp
I went there with my brothers and sisters., There was seven of us. We all ordered different types of pastas. The food was amazing and a charcuterie board to die for I can't wait to go back again and let my friends know what they were missing, the server was very attentive And pleasant. And the restaurant was casual and quiet atmosphere. The food was authentic Italian.
google avatar

Ethan S.

Yelp
I have to say the experience here was truly one that reminded me of Italy (I've never been). The ambiance was dim light and dark wood tables giving a romantic vibe. The bread that came out to the tables was delicious, though a bit cold. However, the extensive wine selection and main dish made up for it. The lamb chop special I got was excellent. Seasoned well, cooked perfectly medium, tender, and the potato's just the same.
google avatar

Joyce L.

Yelp
I came for my birthday last night with family and the service was not up to par, based on my previous experiences. Our server was slow and inattentive.
google avatar

Ethan N.

Yelp
They make great food here. I had them cater for my high school graduation party a few years back. I like coming here, it's just far from where I live. When I do go, I am a huge fan of their short rib ravioli and CESCO salami piccante sandwich.
google avatar

M B.

Yelp
Food-amazing. Strawberry salad was good, but dressing maybe too sweet. Bruschetta Moderna so incredibly fresh! Had a pizza (gotta try house specialty at any restaurant) and loved it. Crust was flavorful, toppings were great. Lobster ravioli was yummy. Cannoli was perfect. Service-great. They were busy, so while not prompt, service was sincere. Alisha, our server, was a joy to talk to and very helpful with the menu. Decorating-nice. Walls felt slightly incomplete, like they had a little more decorating to do.
google avatar

Jacquelyn H.

Yelp
Unbelievable... I had an idea of the sandwich that I wanted and it's like they went into the depths of my heart and found my favorite things and created the most delicious sandwich. A small strawberry gelato to go and I am hooked. From the moment you walk in it is just this quaint little restaurant that just glows with welcome. Smiles from the moment I walk into the moment I left. I can't believe it took me so long to find this place.
google avatar

Victoria V.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out. I'm SO glad I made a reservation because it was poppin'! After getting seated, our waitress didn't come by for about 20 min. It was busy. The shrimp appetizer was delicious!!! Also my pasta with seafood was great, just know it has a little kick to it. My wife had the deep fried raviolis and she wanted more. The only thing I could say was the service was a little slow, only cause it was busy. Our waitress was great and very friendly.

Alice C.

Yelp
After travelling throughout Italy, this was the first place we visited! I have to say, it was Better than anything we had in Italy! The only thing is you have to get your reservation in early, if you're walking in at dinner time, you're probably not going to get in OR you will be seated outside. Which is Not a bad thing, unless its December....brrrrr!
google avatar

Raquel H.

Yelp
This place is super cute for a date night. Restrooms are very clean and staff is super Nice. The food was amazing, everything we had was delicious, I also love that they make their own pasta. Would definitely recommend this place our favorite was the pesto gnocchi. The ravioli was good but it Does have a strong sage flavor. The lasagna was amazing that was also One of our favorites.

Yelp
Back in the day I had seen Fabio On Fire on check please Arizona on PBS and have since wanted to try it! A friend and I happened to be in the neighborhood so this was our chance! Got seated right away got there a little after opening so there was a decent amount of people but nothing crazy. We waited quite a while to have someone come over to our table.....there apparently was a conversation on who had our table (which is always pleasant to overhear within earshot ) so the server who I guess won the coin toss was friendly but very scattered in fact I don't know exactly what they did since someone else brought out our food and we had to wave him down for our check. FOOD California seared sea scallops were very good lightly breaded which was surprising but tasty none the less served on a tasty hummus. Bianca Parma pizza which was buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula and shaved Parmesan.....let's just say they don't skimp on ingredients it was piled with prosciutto and everything seemed very fresh a little difficult to eat with all of the toppings but it was good, I wasn't salivating but it was a solid pizza. I don't know what was going on with the service probably a one off, if I happened to be in the neighborhood I would probably go back but I'm not going to go out of my way.
google avatar

Kelly B.

Yelp
We went here while visiting our daughter in Arizona. And all I can say is wow the pizza was amazing. Everything here was outstanding. And the service was top notch. Ask your waiter what do they recommend. And just wow you'll be blown away. It was really busy, so that's another sign that this place rocks. Please if you're visiting Arizona it's a must go to place .

Yelp
We had a delightful culinary experience! I The homemade pasta, wine, bruschetta, pizza, calamari, and bread were all delicious. The high quality cuisine was this restaurant's dedication to authentic Italian food. While the ravioli servings may have been small, it seems like everything else more than made up for it. It's always great to find a restaurant that excels in so many aspects of the dining experience! There is ample parking and the two patios were quite attractive.

Came here before a concert. Service was slow. Think some people called off. They give you complementary bread & butter. We the charcuterie board. Also the Aranci. I got the bolognese it was good. They give you plenty. We got a dessert and it was huge! Couldn't finish it. They have a patio outside.
