Awesome place to meet up, have coffee and get cool books. They have great gifts too! My sister lives in Dallas and I live in Austin. We meet up in Waco and this is an awesome place to meet. They have a kid friendly children’s book area. Ella made us all our coffee and she was quick and friendly. My nephew loved Melinda the Dragon and apparently she guards the bookstore at night. We agreed I would buy him a book here every time we come to Waco.

Wonderful little bookstore, we didn’t realize it was as large as it was. It’s so warm and welcoming, it smells good. The furniture is worn and comfy. The books are curated so great. We found so man books. You can get a nice drink and snack, find a cute spot to read or work. There is a cute little spot for kiddos and lovely gifts all through out. We are always planning our next trip.

This is one of the best little bookstore I've visited. Quint and charming come mind when thinking about this place. Amazing variety of books for a small bookstore when compared to BN size. A charming feature is a lot of handwritten notes on the books throughout the entire bookstore. A lot unique gifts. A strong college vibe here. The staff is friendly and cheerful. There is a wonderful coffee/tea shop inside wirh great seating, if a college student with their laptop ever leaves. However there is seating throughout the store. Leather chairs, leather couch, living room style chairs and in back a wonderful children areas. I really like their decorations with popular books theme decorations. There is street parking and downtown.

I was driving from Dallas to Austin and wanted to make a stop at something other than fast food or a gas station. This book store is most readers dream come true. Books and books and more books. There is also plenty of seating, cafe and adult beverages. I wish I lived closer. So many women sitting, laughing and just seemed happy!

What a great bookstore. You can tell they really care about the books and the customers. I love places that have staff recommendations. It is so helpful. The kids room is a lot of fun and they had a dragon on the wall! I didn't try the coffee but it smelled delicious. Check them out in Waco.

Google
MAGICAL! From the coffee to the decor to the wonderfully curated books with notes from the staff, everything was just perfect. The hunny pot coffee was sweet and delicious. The Turkish delight coffee was another winner too. I spent hours here just reading the "staff's pick" notes. The children's area is magical with a door from The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. I could come here everyday and not get bored.

Incredible experience! It's definitely not just a bookstore. There are dragons peeking out and bits of Narnia everywhere and an amazing coffee bar with delicious sandwiches and snacks!

Atmosphere: Upon walking into the Bookshop/Cafe, you will see a tall owl statue, but don't let that distract you from all the industrial shelving containing books and the Cafe along the right side of the establishment. The ambient lighting and decor really give a nice ambiance and can see myself lose hours just being there. Product/Service: Regarding the Bookshop, the vast books ranging from cult classics up to today's best-sellers were great to see in such a nice tidy display/shelving. Being able to see some limited editions on the shelves to purchase for those who appreciate those variants. For the Cafe, having drinks named after literary classics/characters was a nice subtle nod to the Bookshop. Being able to pull elements from that and create specialty drinks was a true experience. The barista really showed her true craft and knowledge when making the drink. Quality: As mentioned before, it was great to see the cult classics alongside some new best sellers, each of which have their own section in the store as well. All the books looked like they were properly taken care of, and I appreciated the presentation. For the cafe, it looked like they used a good selection of roasted beans, and having house made syrups was a nice touch and great to see to have that available. Fili's Fave: It's kind of hard to select one thing from th whole establishment, seeing that it's a cafe and book shop, so I will choose one item from each. Book shop - I enjoyed how everything was neatly organized, as well as book reviews hanging off the edge of some popular reads. Cafe - If you are a fan of honey and cinnamon, such as myself, do yourself a favor and order the Hunny. For the kids - Be sure to visit the children's area from the "hidden" entrance.

Yelp
Love this coffee shop I've been here many times and really appreciate all the thoughtful selections in the bookstore. There's always something new and delightful to find on the shelves every time I go. ...and also loved this barista's handwriting

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful bookstore. The outside has a very welcoming storefront. When you first walk in you are greeted by the signature owl-I personally loved it!! The store is very warm and welcoming, with soft worn comfy spots to sit. There are chairs to sink into and play chess, seating areas to discuss, working areas near a coffee bar. The books arrangements are so well curated. They do staff recommendation cards and I genuinely enjoyed reading those. It helped me pick a few new books I had been considering. They have little gifts, small little fun surprises through out the store. It's much bigger than you think it is, so you are not crowded as you browse. There is even a thoughtful kiddo reading area. We left planning our next visit. Definitely a place to feel at ease, relax with a friend and a book and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Yelp
The very best indie bookshop around! I started coming here when my son began to consider Baylor for college. Every time we took a tour or he came down for a scholarship event, I would pop in. Now, it's my local shop! The merchandising is phenomenal. Even if I don't end up purchasing a book, I always find some other must have item to buy - from cute totes to fun puzzles, notecards and bookish planters! They always have amazing author events and there are suggestions for books all over the store! Not to mention - delicious coffee! Books + Coffee = happy customer.

Yelp
What a fantastic locally-owned books & coffee shop. The book selection is overwhelming. It's almost like being in a library where you can access almost any and every book you can think of. The availability is extensive. The staff are so informative and their recommendations were not disappointing at all. It is such a relaxing environment to sit and sip on a latte while perusing a newly purchased reading material. The kid's book section is adorable and inviting. I can't wait for our next visit to Waco to come back. Highly suggest folks check this place out.

Yelp
Very cute bookshop in downtown Waco. Walkable to other great shops and stops. The books store is charming with a cute kids area. The cafe offers wine, coffee and tea. They have all the latest books I have been hearing seeing in one spot. Many customers treat it like any other coffee shop and are reading or working on laptops .

Yelp
When on vacation, it is a must to stop into a local bookstore. Fabled was easy to find and parking on the street was free. The store is organized and clean with comfortable seating and books about TEXAS at the front of the store. The cafe menu looked inviting but alas we had just eaten. As my current TBR list is all about Ann Patchett, I perused the shelves for her books. Only 2. I was surprised. However, there were several Kristin Hannah books, not surprised. I couldn't decide so I didn't get a book for me. I did get books for my grandchildren and a bookmark and sticker too.

Yelp
Adorable bookstore! They had many of my top romantasy picks! Walked out with a few new ones that had staff recommendations written on them that I had never seen before. Love finding a cute bookstore as there are not many around these days.

Yelp
Fabled was probably one of the best local or independent bookstore I had ever been too. The interior was very welcoming with warm decorations. There were plenty of comfortable seating and tables throughout the bookstore. There was a seating area for the cafe portion of the bookstore. Books were nicely organized in beautiful bookcases. I loved the facts that staff members actually read and review books of the store's inventory. Each staff member handwritten the review and signed it on a card that was placed in front of each recommended book. Out party of three really enjoyed reading the reviews from ordinary book lovers. There was also a separate room for children books. We didn't buy any books, but we enjoyed browsing tremendously. We also had our coffee break in the cafe. Coffee was good and staff was very friendly. When I come back to Waco, I will drop by again for book browsing, book reviews, and coffee for sure.

Yelp
I love going to different bookstores and this one is just so cute. Everyone is nice and it was so relaxing to be able to read a book that I purchased and not feel rushed.

Yelp
The drinks were amazing! I am a Matcha girlie through and through and I will never be caught skipping on a matcha lemonade...especially one so delicious! We also got the Junie B Jones Italian soda, and while I thought it was amazing my less fruit and adventurous friends were a little disappointed. The cookies they have on the counter and the perfect sweet and salty dough! Do not skip on the chocolate chip!!! The vibes in the store are truly every book lovers dream it's the perfect blend of cafe to book store with lots of options for books and bevy's!

Kori B.

Yelp
A must visit place for book/coffee lovers! If you're in Waco you have to stop here! Good coffee, SO many books and super cute little gift stuff (stickers, mugs, *cute* shirts, etc)

Yelp
Visiting Waco was on the backend of a five-plus day vacation. I was headed back to North Texas when I decided on a few stops in Waco as a last hurrah of sorts. This was an outstanding coffee shop and bookstore. There was the "Wardrobe" from the Chronicles of Narnia that the kids would walk through in order to get to their section. Very well done! Of course I purchased a cup of coffee and sat down in order to rest and tie up some loose ends. The blend was Guatemalen and Colombian. Delicious! I could tell this was a college hangout for studying and social fellowship. This didn't deter me from enjoying the ambiance. If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely make another visit. Great job!

Yelp
Who doesn't love a good book store? Stopped in here after visiting the area and it's a good vibe with a lot of selection. The kids section is nice for the young ones and I love that there are plenty of staff recommendations. If you visit the area definitely stop in for a coffee or just to check out the shop.
google avatar

Mindy L.

Yelp
Adorable local bookshop with cafe that has something for everyone. There's even a "closet" in the back of the store in the kids section like the wardrobe from the chronicles of Narnia. Super cute! I enjoyed browsing the books, their selection of Christian merchandise, as well as the bookshop's own merchandise. There's also plenty of sofas, couches, and chairs and tables for guests who want to read a book, study a bit, or just get some work done. The kids section had classic kid novels such as Harry Potter, the little prince, charlotte's web, secret garden, etc, but with revamped covers and illustrations. It reminded me of my childhood so much, but with even more attractive presentation to lure you to read them. There was also a table with a chessboard and chess pieces near the entrance that my son and his friends had so much fun playing. Highly recommend if you are a book lover or if you need a place to study. I didn't get a chance to try their cafe since I was full, but there was always a steady line of customers making orders.

Yelp
This bookshop is located in the downtown area of Waco. There's a small shared parking area in the back but if you're in a big truck or SUV you'll definitely want to locate a different option for parking. The book store has 2 wonderful table displays right in front at the entrance and then book shelves both to the left and right before you get to the 2 top tables lined up across from the cafe and restrooms. Just across from the cafe there's a sofa and armchairs. My daughter relaxed there while I shopped. There's a children's bookstore tucked inside the main bookstore just before you get to the Young Adult section. I discovered a shelf titled Local Authors. These are all Waco writers. I shopped from that shelf and I'm definitely looking forward to enjoying my book!
google avatar

Candyce P.

Yelp
Cute bookstore! The coffee was delicious and the store is beautifully set up. They have so many books and I loved the staff suggestions. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
This quaint downtown Waco bookshop offers a strong selection of books, bites, and beverages. It's easy to lose track of time here taking in all they have to offer. While books are the primary focus, Fabled also features games, puzzles, stationery, and more. Shelves are clearly labeled, and the staff seem upbeat.
google avatar

Elizabeth A. H.

Yelp
Amazing local bookstore. Loved the author tables! It was great talking with the authors and browsing books!
google avatar

Yelp
While making my list of places to visit in Waco, Fabled was at the top of my list! They had such a great selection that you could spend hours perusing. I loved the displays they had up front including an Eras one as a nod to Taylor ;) They also have a coffee bar and plenty of tables/seating so you can make yourself comfortable. This indie bookstore is a must if you're in Waco!

Yelp
In town visiting family for Thanksgiving and our goal was to get coffee from a local shop. Fabled was the perfect choice. From the selection of in-house coffee syrups to the rustic decor, everything about this place felt just right. The best part of our visit was chatting it up with baristas Thet and Piper who happily answered all our questions about coffee. I absolutely recommend Fabled Bookshop & Cafe when you're in Waco. That place down the street with the Silos might get more "press", but Fabled provided the best coffee experience!

Tori J.

Yelp
The best bookshop and coffee shop in town!! The baristas are all so nice and make amazing drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute whimsical bookshop with coffee, tea, beer and wine. I got their seasonal wildflower with the help of their sweet employee. It has a slight Harry Potter, Narnia ambience. There were many students studying when I went so I assume it's a great place to study. There were great selections of Knick knacks and an awesome collection of all kinds of books.
google avatar

Abby S.

Yelp
I was in town for Spring at the Silos, but absolutely fell in love with Fabled. I spent way too much time and money here, but I'm not mad in the slightest. They have a million trinkets: stickers, pins, mugs, bags, bookmarks, accessories, annotation supplies, and other great gift options for readers and non-readers alike. It goes without saying that their book collection is extensive, with a whole room of children's books and gifts. There is also a wall of games and puzzles and a section for small business purchasers. There is ample seating for reading, working, eating, or chatting. If I'm ever back in town I will most definitely be back here.

Cassidy B.

Yelp
The bookstore is well organized and has so many little additional things for purchase! Think stocking stuffers and paper goods. All of the books are organized and many have recommendation tags from staff members. It was fun to read their thoughts on books I've read and those I haven't! Will be back next time we're in Waco!
google avatar

Ramey W.

Yelp
Incredible local bookstore and cafe. My hunny latte was delicious, and the ambiance in this place is next level. As an avid reader, I could spend an absurd amount of time in here. The baristas were all very friendly too and helped my group figure out what sounded good. I wish I had one of these back in my hometown!! Cannot recommend enough.
google avatar

Yuri C.

Yelp
Cute little bookstore in downtown Waco. You won't be able to see it driving from Franklin Ave, but it's still recognizable since there's a huge mural on the side of the building. The bookstore also has a cafe inside, along with board games to play. It's a perfect place to relax.

Yelp
Bookshops and coffee shops go good together? Who would have thunk? This place is great for getting some work done or hanging out with people. There is a book shop which takes up about half the space but the place is huge so everything fits together nicely. The coffee here is great as well as the selection of books! They also have sweet rewards program so ask about that when you get your coffee. Overall great, unique coffee shop!

Yelp
I went to Waco a while back with some friends, and this place was one of the highlights of the trip . Not only was the covfefe delicious, but the bookstore itself had immaculate vibes. Their book curation was out of this world, every cover was so beautiful and I walked out with several pictures of books to buy. RIP my wallet. Also, The entrance to the children's books area was an actual wardrobe!!! I'll be coming back to Waco just so I can experience the magic here again and go to Narnia . ------------ I had a Goldilocks cold brew (which was actually just right ) with butterscotch. It was not too sweet and had great flavor, 9/10 for me. They had many drinks inspired by different books and characters, I definitely want to come back and try more.

Yelp
Fabled is my family's happy place. Like instantly in a happier mood once we walk through the doors. We are always so excited to bring guests here, and everyone we bring is so taken by Fabled's charm. Their collection of books is meticulously and thoughtfully curated with classics, new titles, and interesting, beautiful copies that are perfect as a special addition to your own library or to give as a gift. The atmosphere is friendly and magical-- make sure you give the kids' section a good visit. The staff are knowledgeable, kind, and helpful with their suggestions or conversations on selected titles. They never seem to mind that our toddler runs around the place like it's his own, personal playground. Makes it a comfortable place for our whole family. The bar serves up delicious, thoughtful, and creative drinks for everyone-- refreshing lemonades, well-crafted, literary-themed lattes (try the sleeping beauty), fun cocktails, and tasty brews. Toys and gifts are just as thoughtfully curated as the books. And we love ourselves a good Fabled tee!!-- smartly designed tees we've been buying since they opened; we're always eager to see what the new designs are. We love ourselves a good, independent bookshop and have been to some of the best. Proud to say Fabled is our favorite, and grateful that it's in our hometown.

Yelp
This shop was recommended from the Magnolia staff and I could have easily cozy-Ed up here for hours. They have a coffee bar and several tables and chairs, as well as a fun children's room. The staff recommendations of books have hand written cards about why and there were so many fun gift ideas too. Highly recommend this shop!

Le I.

Yelp
Kind of insane. Ordered and tipped well. But when I get it back, it wasn't a cappuccino... jt was 4 sips of espresso. Ridiculous!
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
Lovely little baby bookstore and coffee shop. It's not that big, so be prepared to not sit, but we had such a lovely time browsing books while sipping our coffee.
google avatar

Sophie K.

Yelp
I come here often, it's one of my favorite coffee shops because the inside is so cute. The coffee is pretty good, you can probably get a better latte elsewhere in Waco but this is a great place to meet a friend and chat or browse the books. It is always very crowded though because it is quite popular and students study here often so they will take up seats for a while. Definitely worth a stop though!
google avatar

ally k.

Yelp
waco favorite of mine! super delicious coffee with cute options, themed drinks, and passionate baristas. love all the little knick knacks you can buy too. been here lots

Yelp
MY FAVORITE BOOK STORE EVER! My family and I were in Waco for the week visiting some family. The airbnb we stayed at had this lovely coffee shop underneath. This was truly the cutest shop I've ever been to. We went there every single day because we couldn't get enough of the delicious coffee and relaxing atmosphere. They had such a great selection of all sorts of books! I bought Live No Lies by John Mark Comer :-) Need this place to stay open forever and I would literally come back to Waco solely for this book store!
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
After visiting Chip and Joanna Gaines' Shiplap Museum we decided to track down a coffee shop in Waco. My fellow yelpers did not lead us astray. Every coffee shop would do isle a favor to give access to books so that concept alone puts the coffee shop in its own category (I don't count a Barnes with a Starbucks dropped in as a category). They've got clever storied themed drinks, some regular and others as specials. I took a Muffled Mocha and my wife ordered the Bronte special. She couldn't wait to text our three girls with the "guess which of these drinks I just ordered" trivia question. The drinks were fabulous and two hours and 4x books later we continued our exploration of Waco.
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
This is the most charming bookstore I've ever visited. Fabled Bookshop is more than a bookstore. It has a magical quality that welcomes you and invites you to stay. With dome chairs and vintage telephones, a wardrobe leading to the children's section, and a carefully selected book and bookish inventory that would made any reader giddy, it's an unforgettable place. And a must-visit if you're in Waco.

Kylie H.

Yelp
I loved the coffee shop and the book selection! I got the muggle mocha and it was SO good!
google avatar

Carly H.

Yelp
Really cute Bookshop and cafe. The cafe had lots of yummy things on offer but I didn't have time to sit down and enjoy them. Love the set up of the bookshop. Lots to browse and the booksellers were very helpful and offered suggestions. Will be back to shop more when I'm in town again!

Kristin B.

Yelp
They have a great atmosphere ! Coffee is good and I love their seasonal drinks. They often have themed drinks. For example when Taylor swift released 1989 her version , they created a couple in house drinks for a few days surrounding the album release. They often have author signings , book talks, a book club and special events . They have an event for Harry potters birthday each year and it's super fun! Upcoming in January they are having a release party of Onyx storm! I did have to buy a ticket but the price is always worth it!
google avatar

Elaine M.

Yelp
Cool little coffee shop bookstore. I absolutely love the book themed drinks! We totally enjoyed a nice break here after walking around magnolia in the heat. We also had a gluten free chocolate muffin as well. The book selection is great for what's new and best sellers fiction and non fiction. I just wish they had more personal development section :). Loved the tiny gift shop next to the cafe, really adorable stuff.

Lukasz K.

Yelp
I was asked to leave with my dog, and they lied that there was a sign outside. Well, no sign, rude service... well, you lost a customer.
google avatar

Makayla N.

Yelp
My happy place The coffee is superb (ask for an iced siren if you like your coffee sweet but not too sweet). They have literary names for their drinks which I just adore. My husband prefers their iced chai, he hasn't come to the dark side yet (that's coffee humor). I love all their knickknacks and books, I can shop for anyone for any occasion here. Their love of local is shown by supporting other local vendors, authors, and by hosting events that showcase the community as a whole. They also have a fun story of the month that ships to you, as well as local book clubs. Also, they have wine. It's literally my happy place. Oh! The best part (I know, there's MORE?!). They have a door to NARNIA. It's technically for the children (my kids seem to love it), but I've gone through it a couple of times and let me tell you - it was as majestic and magical as the books portrayed. I tell people if they have one day (or one stop even) in Waco that THIS is the place to stop. (Sorry Silos!)
google avatar

Deborah N.

Yelp
Pretty cool bookstore nestled in the heart of downtown Waco! Perks: -Offers a beverage and bar station offering wines, beer from tap, savory goodies, coffee, and other small bites. -plenty of seating and small nooks to read a good book -gifts and huge children's book area with toys and gifts and super cute books located towards the back right of the store. -I really appreciated that they displayed "staff picks" throughout the store. Thought it was fun and helpful too! I'm not a huge book worm, but I do occasionally love a good book! They are practicing social distancing and he a lot of aesthetically pleasing displays of gifts and such. I really liked that the ambience was really homey and inviting. Well lit and well decorated too. My sisters and I walked around and then grabbed a beer, and strolled through the bookstore.
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
What a great place! The bookstore is great, but they went and added a great coffee bar with food and seating, and a very fun kids book area. It is a don't miss place if you are in Waco.
google avatar

Jodi V.

Yelp
Amazing! So happy to have a place like this in Waco! Great selection, good drinks, and overall just a great place to hangout. We frequent this place for date night.

Kenny B.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. We've hit a number of coffee shops across the country the past couple months and the one we keep talking about is Fabled. The cold brew and the latte were delicious, and the ambiance was a book lovers delight. Staff was friendly and answered all the questions we had.
google avatar

Lori W.

Yelp
Super cute book store and coffee shop! Plenty of places to sit and read a book. Great cookies too!

Sarah R.

Yelp
So cute, yummy drinks, and the perfect place to spend a hot afternoon indoors. Employees were kind and it's a great place to buy gifts for any age group.
