12/28/25 I drove up on a rainy afternoon to check out what Kalamazoo has to offer compared to the chains of the area. I ordered a shot of espresso and a pour over of the Guji. The espresso was actually quite pleasant! It was very vibrant and juicy. Most of the shops I go to have this very toasty/burnt espresso taste and I was surprised at how well executed it was. The pour over was a little to underwhelming, I feel like it didn't have enough time for extraction. You really have to search for flavor profiles. I don't know what their ratio but I'll ask someday Overall I really enjoyed the shop, the fact that you can CHOOSE the choice of beans for a pour over gives me a chance to come back over and over, to see new selections or see what they're capable of. Personal opinions; I liked the look of the shop, everything seems to look run down, but not super dirty. No parking is a downside, but having it on this side of the neighborhood is what I like, I can actually walk somewhere and not have to cross into downtown. I also purchased a bag of beans from there, I'm quite excited to see how it comes out at home. Highly recommend if you live in the neighborhood.

Always love coming to the Frank St location! The coffee special can usually be made as a matcha, which is how I ended up with an amazing iced baklava matcha latte (that I went back for a second one of that week!) If you can catch any of the events going on they are well worth going to. The space is beautiful to hang out in with board games and a photo booth, and staff is always polite. Highly recommend coming in when you have the chance.

Google
Really cool spot with a good selection of beans! I tried the caramel corn latte and give it 2 thumbs up, highly recommend this place

Google
Good, but espresso tastes a bit bitter. They assured me that it’s not overoasted but on the lighter side and using highly-rated green beans, but it still tastes smoky or something. They think I may have had bad shots in my cortados and offered a credit. So I increased my rating until I try it again. Otherwise, the preparation seems descent, but can vary depending on the barista. The place is a cozy old house with different sections - nice to go with friends.

Google
I was visiting family in the area and needed a place to work for a couple of hours. The coffee is excellent and I love the location in the repurposed factory. I ended up buying another drink and a bag of coffee to take back home. They were two of the best lattes I've ever had, and I am a bit of a coffee snob. Can't wait to come back the next time I am in the Zoo!

Google
Factory coffee is pretty nice. They make their own coffee. They refurbished an old building and the decorations have a nice mix.

Google
I was staying at the Raddison and wanted coffee that wasn't Starbucks. Factory Coffee is about a 15 min walk (although if you're wary of homeless and train trucks, it might be better to drive there). Coffee was delicious, and they had bagels and vegan muffins (blueberry and banana nut chocolate chip). Will definitely go back when in the area again.

Google
Absolutely great, atmosphere!! The hard wood floors and decorations are beautiful. It give a homey, relax vibe that would be great for meeting to catch up with friends or work/study! Plenty of seating whether you have a group or your a hermit like me. The coffee is decently priced and hot. The batista was very fast with my order as well!

Yelp
Single origin beans How do you find where to go when you're out of town visiting you can't just search for coffee shops because that'll get you a Starbucks and that I'll get you like a doughnut shop that serves really bad coffee flavored water so you search Reddit and find out who has single origin beans, and you find a place like this

Yelp
Perfect quiet place to enjoy a cup of delicious coffee and either do some work or read a book or chat with a friend. The latte was made perfect and the person making it was so nice and brought it and a warmed up bagel sandwich right out to me. I also got to snag the comfy leather couch to enjoy my breakfast and book which was nice.

Yelp
My first experience with Factory Coffee was at the Delta by Marriot in Kalamazoo. For 4 mornings I indulged in the fabulous aroma coming from this coffee shop. The coffee is phenomenal and the service, even better! It was a surprising treat each morning. It exceeded my expectations!

Yelp
Nice staff, decent coffee and prices. Relaxed atmosphere. Area is a bit iffy, but during daytime seems fine.

Yelp
Best black coffee I've ever had comes from this place. They roast their own beans on-site too.

Yelp
Factory Coffee is very cute. The ambiance is that of a traditional coffeehouse. Clean, tastefully decorated, and open. The service is chill, and the refreshments are what you would expect.

Yelp
Very cool vibe... Laid-back with great coffee, friendly service, and no pressure :-) Great for a conversation, or a quick coffee break.

Joyce P.

Yelp
Food is great! And I don't even drink coffee. I go to the branch at This is a Bookstore

Yelp
Love the original shop -- it has the best energy! The coffee is always fantastic, whether you like espresso, drip or pour overs. They have incredible lavender syrup, which I usually get in a matcha! Their decaf espresso is also very good, which is a true testament of good roasting. There aren't many coffee shops where I feel comfortable ordering a cortado, let alone decaf, but factory doesn't disappoint! Milk steaming and texture does vary from barista to barista... drinks are always made correctly, but the milk texture isn't always spot on. Overall, still my favorite kzoo coffee shop!

Yelp
What can I say about this local gem? They have great drinks, friendly staff, events, and merchandise! Did I say great drinks? My favorite which I downed before I could even snap a pic. Is actually a green tea in the form of a latte. It's a matcha latte lol totally a matcha latte! But the chai and signature house brews take the edge off~

Yelp
Factory Coffee is an excellent coffee shop! The service is wonderful and the coffee is outstanding; over and above this, they've even got an assortment of fun merchandise for sale.  Some of the things they offer are mugs, howlers, and Grayling growlers :-) I'm glad we stumbled across this place - it's certainly worth a return visit.

Yelp
I'm so excited to see this fab space is expanding. This is such a versatile venue and they're there kings of collaboration (see the stellar ceramics studio in their basement, cool concerts they've housed upstairs, and their recent partnership with Portage's Paradise Cafe, which will be featuring their coffee as they offer Paradise cheesecakes in their pastry case). I'm really excited to try more of the roasts they'll be producing in their new roasting machine. Be sure to ask the owner, Dan, for details if he's around while you're in next. It's a fascinating process and sounds like it creates a highly consistent product in a nearly carbon neutral way. So cool!!

Yelp
Wanting to do a coffee shop marathon I popped into Factory Coffee. I was immediately welcomed by Dan, one of the owners. The place was simple yet nice with an eclectic feel from furniture to decor; it all worked. Being my first time (not the last) I asked for whatever he thought was their best drink. He made me a Decaf Ristretto Americano (decaf and ristretto were my requests). The Americano was one of the best I have had in a long time, I thought I found the best one a week earlier in Niles, MI at Top Heavy, but this one was better. Imagine taking a sip of something so flavorful it adds the feel of a heavy body to the drink where there is no body. The aroma was that of freshly ground espresso, the bouquet was slightly nutty, and the flavor was earthy with a non bitter finish; it was good. I ended up spending my afternoon there talking with Dan and drinking more Americanos instead of continuing my marathon. I would encourage you to give this place a visit. It feels like it's a little off the beaten path but its only blocks from down town and parking is EASY. If your there, get yourself a house made ceramic mug for your collection.

Yelp
This place has become a staple of my weekly routine! We love their space and location. It's pretty quiet. There's a comfy lounge with various board games. I love grabbing coffee with my wife here to spend our sunny afternoon and/or just hang out with friends for game nights. Depend on the barista, the drinks and latte art can pretty inconsistent but overall, the experience is great.

Yelp
New location for our favorite coffee shop!!!! Same great coffee, another fun location. Happy me!!!

Yelp
This location is only blocks from the Amtrak station, and I started and ended a two day bike trip from here. I adore this place. Delicious coffee, very welcoming atmosphere, and kind and earnest staff. They literally saved me from heatstroke and I am forever grateful.

Yelp
I came here twice, and I love this place ! Here's why : - The place is in a quiet cozy area, which makes it a perfect place to enjoy your coffee peacefully. - I like how the place is simple and feels like home, also not so many options of drinks that distracts you on the menu (which is good for me) - The prices is great for sure, and the quantity is good. - The employees are super nice and friendly ! I enjoy coming to this place !

Yelp
I am disappointed. I brought my parents here because I enjoyed the coffee that I had at the downtown location and we were served old coffee that was extremely bitter. We took it to go because there was not enough seating and immediately dumped it out.
google avatar

Eve D.

Yelp
This is prob one of my fave places in kzoo coffee spots that makes a good and delicious matcha latte. It's always a must for me to drink this here and only here. We came here yesterday for unofficial yelp coffee club and I'm glad we came. The patio was nice and clean. I could imagine myself with a book and just sipping matcha latte at their patio. The space was clean and the barista has stellar customer service. He was patient when my husband asked for some suggestions to try new coffee. Two Thumbs up!

Yelp
Nice little coffee shop, cool looks from the inside. Everything you'd expect from your local cafe. Breakfast sandwiches in the fridge that were Heat and Eat but gets the job done. I'm not sure if they allow dogs in but they were nice enough to let my little fuzzy friend come in on a snowy day.

Yelp
Spending a lovely Sunday afternoon here. I wish I'd known about this place sooner! Their lattes and iced chai are great and the atmosphere is comfy and eclectic. My wife has already resolved to switch from Starbucks to here on workday mornings at the Family Health Center. I also love that they serve "for here" coffee in cups from Grayling Ceramics, which is located in the basement of the same building. There's nothing comfier than good coffee in a handmade mug! It appears that Bent 9 Yoga occupies a space in the same building as well.

Yelp
The single star is not for the coffee but the customer Service. I visited the Factory based on a recommendation. I actually enjoyed the coffee. What I did not appreciate was the unexpected response to my inquiry into the hours. When asked about the hours of operation. I was given the hours and then was told, "you people don't get up that early anyway". I was completely taken a back and felt the need to express being a morning person to dispel stereotypes about "my people". I definitely did not expect this in a business located in "our" community.

Gerald C.

Yelp
The good coffee is good and strong and was served up quick. The bad beakfast bagal sandwiches were not very good. Bagal was extremely tough, chicken sausage was mediocre, and the egg was so so. Not what one would expect for a $7 breakfast sandwich. Add to that it took almost 30 minutes for them to make our two sandwiches. Not recommended sorry

Yelp
Cool eclectic gem with a delicious chai tea latte. Also very much appreciate the oat and almond options for us vegans.

Yelp
Hip, industrial-chic, and friendly to all (note the inclusive welcome sign on the way in), this new addition to the coffee shop landscape in Kzoo's North Side is a welcome one. Tons of space to sprawl and relax or work for a few hours, inside or out back in the sun, and built for groups to hang out, too, in a variety of different rooms. Coffee quality is first-rate -- I've only tried a pour over so far, and it was on par with my favorite spots in town. Food items look tasty but I can't report on those yet. (Also available for delivery with your coffee via Grubhub, if that's your thing.) Apparently there's also an upstairs space used for yoga classes and that sort of thing. This is a find!
google avatar

Pam W.

Yelp
Coffee is something I take pretty seriously and Factory Coffee ranks right up there as top notch. A very laid back atmosphere inside makes it very comfortable for everyone to relax, read, or work. My pour over was prepared perfectly and was very smooth, not bitter at all. They also offer some bake goods, but they were sold out the evening I was there. It's a little off the beaten path for me to frequent, yet I will make it a point to visit again soon.
google avatar

Reyna R.

Yelp
Excellent service! Good place to do some work. Could be cleaner and a bit more elegant. Not a place for pastries, coffee is decent.
google avatar

Kathryn K.

Yelp
Cool building. They have games and such for kids. Get the babyccino for $2 for an extra treat for the kids. I also got the crunchy brittle which was super good. Check this place out.
google avatar

Brittany A.

Yelp
We've been to Factory Coffee a couple times and had a lovely experience both times. Most recently we went on Mother's Day, where we got a coffee, a chai latte, a babyccino and a couple orders of waffle darts. My husband enjoyed his coffee. But my chai latte is the best one I've ever had. It was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy as a chai should be and clearly not made from a stock syrup. The waffle darts are a great fun little brunch snack and the child friendly babyccino is adorable. We enjoyed our little breakfast, played a game of chess and our four year old colored on the ream of butchers paper they have available. Staff was super friendly. It's not super close for us, but we'll for sure be back!

Yelp
Love the service, ambience, and food at Factory! Love supporting business in Kalamazoo! Almond milk latte made perfectly, served in Grayling ceramics pottery. Would love to come back in summer time for outdoor seating.
google avatar

Tala H.

Yelp
I am a big fan of trying new coffee shops. Factory coffee was a nice experience, we tried their brewed coffee and the croissants they offer; the almond croissant is a must! It is spacious but it was not crowded and it does not have a lot of tables. They sell their own products as well, mugs for coffee tea and espresso. It is a nice place for a quick coffee with a friend or if you want to finish sth on your laptop. Recommended :)
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Quickly becoming my favorite spot in town for coffee! Their tableware is all made by Grayling Ceramics, whose workshop is located in the same building. Laidback vibe, warm wood floors, and clean, bright, homey aesthetic. Competent and friendly baristas. Great energy and I'm excited to see what creative projects they're hosting!
google avatar

Audrey G.

Yelp
They are just nice people. Way better than "Something's Brewing Kalamazoo". Yes the coffee is expensive... but I feel fancy drinking it! That's the point, right? The interior of the building and ability to use WiFi/ have a community hangout there is the reason I let the prices slide. I always tip the barista too (because they hire cool nice people!) I swear to god I only passed some of my classes because this place existed while I was in college. I do wish there was MORE vegan options. There might be one thing every now and then but otherwise there aren't many options... I've stopped going as much because there aren't many vegan options (I've been vegan for a year) and I'm not in school anymore.
google avatar

Mack C.

Yelp
If you know Dan Kastner (one of the owners) then you know how passionate of a guy he is. Factory Coffee is the culmination of years of hard work. His ability to put together such a cohesive concept is of no surprise to me personally. I love the OG La Marzocco espresso machine. I love the roasters they bring in. I love the staff they've brought in to the family. And I love the space. Truly a positive addition to the Kalamazoo coffee scene
google avatar

Lindsey L.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee places in kzoo! The coffee is strong, the baristas are always friendly and there to help you make a decision. They also have super cute products in store like hand-made pottery and t-shirts. The only thing I wish they had was more seating.
google avatar

Steph M.

Yelp
Factory is an amazing coffee shop. Cool motorcycle vibe in an old building. The coffee is best in town and their breakfast sandwiches will not disappoint! And while you're there you can shop local ceramics made in the basement.
google avatar

Mya H.

Yelp
There are a handful of great coffee places in Kalamazoo and Factory Coffee definitely makes the list. Though I have only had their drip coffee and cannot speak to anything else, it was spectacular. Moreover, the vibe is perfect for meeting up with friends, doing work, and even swinging by with the kids. The staff has always been very welcoming and friendly--NOT snobby baristas in any way. Looking forward to becoming a regular at Factory Coffee and trying out more on their menu.

Sharon L.

Yelp
This place gives you a feeling of 'Life is good'. I like that they kept the character of the old factory and it is multi-use

Alex W.

Yelp
NEW FAVORITE COFFEE JOINT. Coffee's great but what sells me is the people. The baristas are always incredibly friendly and conversational. The owner, Dan, is like your best friend if you meet him. This place is all about community as well. Half the people I see come in here are here for some manner of local event, or what-have-you. This is what the greatest coffee houses are, a place of community and the mixing of great minds and hearts (the coffee just helps us do it better). If I could give a six star, I wouldnt. I'd give it a ten.

K S.

Yelp
Great coffee shop. Very cool space with a good amount of seating options. Good coffee, and they carry delicious pastries from Victorian Bakery (the best!).

Krishna M.

Yelp
Heard about this place by meeting the owner when he helped jump start my car! Turned out the espresso is awesome and so are the lattes! Glad we came across this place!

Cathy W.

Yelp
The Lamb daughters just met the owner of Factory Coffee! Wonderful place, great atmosphere and great coffee too! Love to see the old buildings being brought back to life and working again! So glad to see the revitalization of a great town, such history!! Thank you so much !!

Patrick M.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and great atmosphere!! I found my new favorite coffee shop in Kzoo!! Super friendly staff. This is a must stop for great coffee.
