Momofuku Permanently Closes D.C. Location as Part of Company Overhaul | Eater DC

"Among the few reported permanent pandemic-era closures clustered around the high-priced Chinatown corridor near CityCenter, I report that Fado Irish Pub is listed as one of the businesses that has closed." - Gabe Hiatt

So I was in town for 3 nights and had the same thing two different nights. The shepherds pie is awesome and the consistency was really good both times I had it. The black and tans were great. Atmosphere is low key with great service. Can’t recommend enough, especially if you’re an Irish pub person.

Google
Food was excellent. We had the corned beef rolls, fish & chips, shepherd’s pie, and a glass of Red Velvet. Service was fast and our server provided good suggestions. I knocked a star off of the atmosphere because the seats seemed really close to each other and the floor seemed sticky.

Google
I went there with my son, we got the pretzel, pub fries, chicken sandwich, and I had a drink. The bar tenders were helpful and friendly, the food was very tasty, the atmosphere was great, other people there, futbol on the TV, not too loud.

We got in just before the rush. Our server greeted us promptly and returned with our beverages. We ordered apps for lunch. The food came out without delay. The wings were fantastic and generous in size. The corned beef rolls could have used a bit more punch but were tasty. The salmon bites were super yummy. The pretzel was huge to say the least but the $14 price tag stung a bit. The Guinness N/A seemed a bit watered down and the unsweetened iced tea was quite pale. All in all it was a good experience. The soccer crowd truly enjoyed the games and the staff were all super friendly.

Edit 10/11/24 - adding photos and had a much better experience with service. Original review below. Small irish pub themed place that plays sports typically on the bar tvs, has outdoor and heated patio seating, and great comfort food. Been coming here for years. My favorite regular meal is a crabbies with fish and chips. However I do think the service and quality has slightly declined through the years, but not so much that it prevents me from returning. My last visit: Cheese dip with boxty. I LOVE their boxty, personally. It's a potatoey, soft and crunchy bread with a cheese dip that has like a pico in it. No complaints! It's heavy, not a light starter. Salmon entree. I decided to try something new. A+. The fish was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Columbus places often struggle with salmon (either sad, rubbery and white or downright undercooked). Good work. The bed of greens was great. I'm coming back for this. My co-diners spicy bloody mary didnt seem to have hot sauce in it only a small bit of pepper. Bland. I got a mule which was okay, then a crabbies. Didn't give me a lime with me drink. If the service becomes a little more tentative (it used to be top tier, loved the service there) and breathe a little life into the interior with a little "spit"shine, 5 stars. Love this location for its noatalgia, memories, and great comfort food.

Google
The waitress was outstanding, split a full order of fish and chips which was not very good. The chips were nice but the fish was really just oil soaked. The coating of the fish when broken was oil literally running out. The place has a nice vibe and rather relaxing. Next time I will try something new.

Google
The patio is a lovely place to sit when the weather allows. Too bad near the butterfly garden was closed but we found a spot. We all had fish and chips and given I’ve had fish and chips at a pub in Ireland I can say they are very authentic. The chips are top notch, crispy outside and soft inside. Great lunch

James S.

Google
Food was delicious - and huge portion, I could only eat half of my short rib Guinness Mac and Cheese - and service was great. I sat at the bar and the bartender, Echo, was amazing! 10/10 will come back!

Melanie R.

Yelp
Good food, drinks and service. Terrible smoke smell, and parking was a lot. If you could eat outside it would be good, but if you eat inside, you smell like an ashtray when you leave.

Yelp
8/31/25 Ate List: Reuben w/ Fries - 9.3 Road trip to Columbus. Was HUNGRY and needed something quick as we were in town for an appointment in Easton. In a somewhat panic we gambled on the food and speed of Fado. Ordered the Reuben w/ Fries. Arrived. Took a bite. Simply said, "this is the best reuben I've ever had." Then tried the fries. "These are extraordinary and ideal." In and out in 30 minutes. Would ABSOLUTELY come back.

Yelp
An awesome community to watch a 'Premiere League Football' game at! They have amazing Fish'n'Chips, and I always go CRAZY for their 'Cheese dip and Wedges'! today I tried something new, Their chicken tenders and chips, which was expertly battered and deep fried, not your typical tender, the batter toed everything together and made the inside super tender and moist, the chips always so great and deliciously seasoned! we also got the 'Smoked Salmon bites on Potato Blini' MY GOSH!!! The amount of flavor and texture they fit into one bite is amazing! The potato crispy, the capers giving a nice zing, the sauce salty, and the fresh salmon smooth and bold! (Will definitely get it again next time!) It was very very busy when I went and I did notice big reserved spots (I think business parties) so service was a bit slow (understandably) but our server was very nice and tried to be as attentive as she could! We sat out on the patio where the sun was just setting, a very lovey evening at a wonderful establishment I have been coming to for over a decade! I've seen quite a few World Cup matches here and the atmosphere is brilliant for it!

Yelp
Everything went well, it's a cozy and beautiful Irish pub with amazing food, great beer selection and outstanding service. I had the Shepherds Pie and it was delicious. I want to come back soon

Joe W.

Yelp
Been going to Fado's for years - A true UK/Irish style pub, in every good way. You can hear the matches and your table conversation, the food is top notch, and you get a proper pint. The whiskey selection is excellent! The entire staff is a reason to come back on its own. Friendly, knowledgeable, and fun.

Yelp
Fun place always. Love the cozy feeling of the little rooms just like an Irish pub. We met here to have dinner with 4 friends and could actually talk without shouting because we were tucked away in a little corner. The cheesy potato wedges appetizer and fried pickles were delicious. They are the spear kind of pickles. Hubby had the Reuben which is always tasty and I had the farmhouse salad with shrimp. Wish I could remember our server's name as she was fantastic! Let us talk and have what she called social time before ordering. Bonus they have Kilkenny beer on draft!

Ellen V.

Yelp
Nate is an excellent bar tender. He knows what you want when you don't know what you want. #orageteashot

Yelp
Very kind service, great food, an approachable pub ambience with sports, and an eclectic mix of international and domestic beers. Was able to score a Carlsberg (Danish). Looking forward to revisiting.

Yelp
So, stop waiting until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until winter, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink.... there is no better time than right now to be happy.

Robin H.

Yelp
Well, you can't do the same thing and expect different results. It's a pub. The beer was good, although a Happy Hour pint was $6. The reuben was a heated up deli corned beef on toasted bread with coleslaw. No Swiss, no thousand island, no sauerkraut. Very bland, portions skimpy. The fries were generic frozen wedges. The lamb au jus sandwich came out burned so we sent it back. I have no way to verify that it was lamb, but the meat wasn't bad. Tasted like pot roast. The au jus was brown gravy. The colcannon (mashed potatoes) were hot, but dried out, not creamy. The waitress was very nice, patio was sunny and nice but smelled like stale cigars. $100 for 4 people didn't sit well with me.

Yelp
Fadó Irish Pub This cozy pub has decor imported from Ireland & a traditional menu that includes an all-day breakfast. Lamb Sliders $13.95 Served on Hawaiian rolls with white cheddar and au jus

Yelp
So good! Service rocked. Good food I forgot how much they offer and how fantastic it was! Fish and Chips for me. BBQ wings for my husband. Both meals awesome! Fish fillets are huge! Yes!!! Wings are meaty and wet. Awesome! We were both impressed. Sidebar call out - ladies room was super clean. I'm thinking we'll need to remember to put this on our regular go-to list of options! Admittedly, I either forgot or was unaware of their robust offerings in the food department. We loved our time here.

Yelp
Was staying at the Hilton and stopped by for drinks, and then came back for brunch the next morning. I haven't been to this Fado in awhile, but loved it just as much as I used to. Service is always great, and was especially so when we were there both times. So dark and cozy inside, feels so much like an Irish pub. Love the beer and drink selection, and also they have a good Bloody Mary that was quick spicy. My boyfriend LOVED the waffle, and I really enjoyed the salmon bites on cucumber to meet my gluten free needs. Can't wait to come back when I'm at Easton, I think it's the best bar there.

Yelp
Don't know why i'm not more of a regular at this place bc I always have a great time there was enjoyable live music on friday night and loved the appetizers. Drinks were strong too which I love hehe. Great, attentive service.

Matthew D.

Yelp
Great menu and beer selection can always find something different yet satisfying than what other restaurants have to offer.

Lightning M.

Yelp
Warning: don't go here unless you enjoy breathing smoke. The inside smells worse than outside. They are next door to the cigar shop. Unsure why they bother posting non smoking signs at their outdoor seating. With everyone next door smoking it's all you smell. The worst part, we watched them allow a pregnant woman sit down, got her water then said nothing as she tried to find a place to sit that would be safe for her. We were told by staff the restaurant gave in and decided to allow a smoking section outside for their restaurant as well. Food was just ok, staff were unprofessional regarding service. Choose one of the many other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
The place has a really cool vibe when you walk in. You feel like you just walked into a pub in Ireland with old friends. Choices of beer were good and service was remarkable. We need something like this back in Nashville.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and a must for the fish and chips as well as the cocktails and beer. I will and always come back here

Yelp
I cant say enough about this wonderful place. This is one of my favorite hangouts since 2000. The food is amazing. I love the ambiance and I have always received great service.

Yelp
Fadós is usually a mixed experience based on the many times we have gone. The location at Easton has a more "tavern" feel than the Bridge Park location and we will occasionally come here if wanting to have a more casual, affordable meal compared to Northstar which can be pretty pricey. Standard array of high tops, bar seating, and booths with a cozy atmosphere. The service wasn't bad but the food certainly tasted bland the last time we went. I had the pub salad which lacked flavor despite having a promising tarragon dressing served on the side. We almost always get Irish coffees and they have been great in the past but compared to homemade they have not been as good recently in my opinion. My partner got their Reuben which wasn't bad but not memorable either. It had more flavor going on but still lacked more oomph to stand out. The chips were nice however. I'd say if you're stopping by either for a break from shopping or to watch a game, grab a pretzel app which is consistently great or a burger and beer (Guinness of course!).

Yelp
Not pictured: Hot Spiced Apple Cider, so good, especially for a cold day! Not pictured: Fried Pickles, perfect breading and crisp, came to the table fresh and extra hot Not pictured: Cheese dip with boxty wedges, first time having wedges like these and I'm in love! I was not a fan of the chicken wing appetizer, they appeared to be not cooked all the way and after spotting it, I stopped eating them. The burger was better than expected, you will enjoy it if you're a bacon and egg type of person. I also added bacon but the burger comes with: grilled all-beef patty, smoked cheddar, whiskey bacon marmalade, fried egg, arugula & tomato on a potato bun I need to go back for happy soon because their deals are right up my alley.

Yelp
I love fish and chips, so decided to give this place a try. I will say that the fish and chips here did not disappoint. The fish was cooked perfectly -- nice and flaky, and the batter was delicious. The chips were also delicious. Will definitely like to try again, and hopefully it will be just as good. Excellent customer service.

Scott B.

Yelp
I am being generous with stars on this one. We ordered the Shepherd's Pie and the Fish and Chips. The Fish and Chips were good, but the tartar sauce was herb tasting and not like a traditional tartar sauce as well as there were only 2 pieces of fish. For $20 per meal I was expecting more. The Shepherd's Pie was boxed mashed potatoes with a store bought jarred brown mushroom gravy. Again, for $20 I just expect that something was actually prepped and cooked and not all out of a box....especially since it took a long time to get our food. I am not impressed and I would suggest that you just save your time and money and skip this one. If you want great food in Easton there are so many other great options. This, is not it. Mediocre at best. Fado, do better!
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun surprise in the heart of the Easton Town Center. We hesitated to go anywhere near the mall on a Saturday afternoon. Having found parking right across from Fado' we decided to take a chance. We're not big beer drinkers but the cocktail menu was extensive including some great Bourbon options. We weren't too hungry, so we ordered the fried goat cheese with the very fresh and crispy farmhouse salad, (side note: I'm super picky about my salads and not one wilted or brown piece) and the best wedge fries/chips ever. Sometimes it's just fun to try the apps to get a feel for the place. We're thinking we might go back for St. Paddy's day if not sooner. The atmosphere is very pub-like and so cozy! Dark wood walls, lots of Irish memorabilia. Staff was on point, friendly and timely with our orders. It was also nice to seat ourselves, not sure if that's how it works every day but it was easy. On a nice day I'm sure the patio would be fun too! Best thing about Ohio are hidden little gems like Fado' Irish Pub

Yelp
We don't get out like we used to, but this is a very nice pub. Serving both loyalists and teags, this is a great place to grab a pint and relax. Being 1/2 irish and Scot, i felt right at home. Service was great, even though we didn't order food, she checked in on us quite frequently.

Cooper R.

Yelp
Food was really good got the feta cheese bites that were delicious highly recommend. Service was super friendly and very nice offering suggestions and advice. Will definitely be back when I return to columbus!
google avatar

Lauren T.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by the brunch options. I loved my eggs Benedict, but they also have more basic breakfast options if you're looking for them. I've only been here for drinks before and it was my first experience with the food. With a covered outdoor patio, I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more food again.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in while on a shopping trip to Columbus. Seen in a few time is it in her previous visits and we were able to finally stop in! Not totally a Plastic Paddy but had the American Irish charm. They had a wonderful selection of beverages, very reminiscent of England and Ireland. I truly appreciated the Strongbow as well as averages with blackcurrant! I opened with a bourbon redemption, which was absolutely delicious lol my wife started with a Baileys & coffee, which was equally memorable! We ended up splitting the half blue cheese and pear salad, which was still amazingly huge, but extremely delicious as well! For our main we split the Guinness, macaroni and cheese. Pretty darn delicious as well. Hopefully will have a chance to get back there sometime in the future tried again. Do want a quick shout out for Nate to took great care of us while we were sitting at the bar! Thank you Nate!
google avatar

Madison R.

Yelp
The food was amazing (and Restaurant Week is a great deal)! The restaurant/bar has a quaint, heavily Irish-themed vibe. The servers are all very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu! I got the Guinness Mac and Cheese...out of this world good! The breadcrumb crust was perfect with the creamy sauce. The garlic bread was pretty basic, tasted very similar to regular Texas Toast (not to complain, as it was still very good). Will definitely visit again soon!

Drew J.

Yelp
Great cozy pub. The boxty wedges and cheese dip is to die for. Not sure why there are so many good reviews that leave 3 stars. That's not a good star rating folks. Love the Fado for a great Irish pub experience. Head there for a proper pint and some great gastropub fare.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Service was great and food was perfect. Couldn't ask for a better evening. Will be back!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Great happy hour, attentive bartenders, and I had a Tikka Masala Po'boy for dinner. Delish.

Matt T.

Yelp
Good food and drinks. Only negative is the smoke smell that's probably from the smoke shop next door.
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Blown away! We tried to dine at Fadó's shortly after the pandemic restrictions were lifted (more like made less restrictive) and the experience was horrible. Lots of cigar smoking near the entrance and no one ever greeted us so we left. Fast forward about 18 months and we were willing to give it another shot. So glad we did. Upon entering we were quickly greeted and seated. The atmosphere was awesome. Not too loud, not too quiet. Just the right level of lively and fun ambiance. We started with Jameson and fried pickles. The pickles were amazingly hot and fresh, the portion was huge! For dinner I had the fish and chips and was equally impressed with the freshness, quality, and quantity. They are a tie with my favorite fish and chips from Old Bag of Nails. Next time you're at Easton, be sure to check this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
Fado has been our go-to spot for awhile now for great food and good friends. International Soccer fans will love it here, and they are also CrewSC backer bar. The food is seriously great for the price and the service can't be beat. We are friends with the employees, and go over every Sunday after my husbands soccer matches.
google avatar

Nathan D.

Yelp
Five stars. This pub is exactly what I imagine a bar as I walk into the front door. Just try the cuisine here. They have lamb, fish, soup, salad, ect. I could write a whole review about the drink selection as well. Get a beer on draft. They have plenty. Side note: the manager Scott is a genuine person both friendly and professional:)
google avatar

Jacob S.

Yelp
Another great place with an awesome atmosphere! The fire place is amazing and added a great cozy feeling, especially during the Fall. A friend and I stopped in for a quick drink and a small appetizer. We started with a beer, both of which was recommended by the very knowledgeable bar tender. The beer came in the glasses designed and labeled for the beverage. This gives the drink an all around cool experience. My friend and I shared the Chicken Boxty Quesadilla. This was a great mix of chicken, cheese and a lovely chipolte sauce. Served with a cool dollop of sour cream and pickled jalapenos. This is a great Irish pub that I will most definitely visit again!
google avatar

Connie G.

Yelp
This was a wonderful place to visit with my son. Great atmosphere, not too loud and good friendly staff. The food was delicious and the portion was good.

Yelp
Super cool place. It does not let you down when you are expecting an Irish pub. The space is broken up some which gives it a unique feel to it. Excellent beer selection and enjoyed trying different Irish beers. The whiskey list is fabulous. They also have a heated outdoor smoking patio. Friendly service. Good prices.

Mr. T.

Yelp
Excellent brunch Friday - Sunday!! Now you can't go wrong during happy hour and the next morning for brunch. Great eggs benedict, American and Irish breakfasts, Dos Tacos and biscuits and gravy!! You can't go wrong at Fado's!!
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Surprising find in the sea of chain restaurants around here. Solid pub, with the requisite soccer on the multiple TVs and good selection of beers and Irish whiskeys. Indulged in the fish and chips and have to say a solid 9. Overall a great and typical pub experience.
google avatar

Andy P.

Yelp
Great Irish breakfast! I thought I was on O'Connell street in Dublin for a moment. Haha. It's a stones throw from the Hilton and we didn't want to eat at the hotel. Typical pub fare with an Irish twist, I guess. At least they don't have Irish egg rolls, I assume they have corned beef stuffed in it, thus making it Irish. All these Irish pubs in the US have reuben sandwich, again with the corned beef. To be fair, Irish cuisine isn't expansive and seldom noteworthy but their classics are tough to beat, like fish and chips, lamb (Guinness) stew, and mussels in a creamy white sauce. Back to that breakfast, yes the best I've had in the states, though I've not had it in Boston. What elevates it is the black and white pudding and the pan fried tomatoes. Any way it was good. The bar is small and probably would have felt cramped if it was crowded making feel like Temple bar, a proper Irish pub. Though short, they have a nice selection of beers. It's a chain and other than Guinness the selections vary by location. At the Easton pub they have St Bernardus, Kronenburg 1664, Estrella Damm and some craft beers. Anyway nice looking pub with pretty good food, great place to enjoy a pint.

Mohammedali G.

Yelp
My favorite bar for two reasons 1. Phenomenal taste of starters 2. Great ambience with the immediate proximity to cigar lounge I have enjoyed at this pub quiet a lot , because it has never failed in its cocktails and the food it serves. Plus when you sit outside facing the mall traffic, it always feel lively. Primary reason i go to this pub is for its food offerings which is limited but spot on. I just dig their Hummus and Flat breads and lately i have tried slow cooked lamb on a hoagie. Please excuse the name of the dishes which may not be same as what i am posting, but you get the idea don't you? Anyhow it is far better than its other location in dublin, so fado = easton town center.
google avatar

Roger K.

Yelp
I am a really big fan of Fadó Irish Pub for several reasons. First reason is the aesthetics, as soon as you walk in the front doors you get that warm embrace of a pub environment: dark wood flooring, paneling and trim, dimly lit with the wrap around bar as the focal point. Go on a day there is premier league soccer and you will feel like you stepped into a pub near Stamford Bridge or another great London pitch. The second reason is the food - I have been eating at the Easton location for over 10 years and it has always been great. Lastly, they have a great beer and liquor selection, as should a pub. Recently ordered the fish and chips, which were great. The cod fish is fresh and the breading is light and flavorful - great choice. Excited to go back and try the 24hour ribs!

Yelp
Perfect for what we needed. A quick and delicious meal that was not too heavy. We started with some beer, of course. I got the Smithwick's Irish Ale and my man got a Land Grant Brown Ale. Both were awesome, not surprisingly. For the meal itself I got the appetizer fish tacos. And my better half the lunch portion fish and chips. The breading on the fish and chips was different from many other places we've been to, light and crunchy. The fish tacos were excellent, the spicy aioli was perfect. We will definitely be back for seconds and thirds. Maybe we'll have entrees next time. Can't wait.

Yelp
So the kids and I had a day off from work and school and my son has wanted to see Chelsea play so we went to Fado to see the match, grab some food, and slam a few pints. So off we went on a -20 wind chill day and it was awesome. So first off, no kid menu so expect to drop some coin, but I knew that so all good. Chelsea game is at the bar usually so go to the right in the door. Had a few Guinness on a cold as heck day so that was great. Service is excellent. Daughter had double stack burger and loved it. My son, the whole reason we were there, had the Reuben and it was great. Completely loaded with meat! I had the soup and salad combo with the farmhouse salad & the beef stew as the soup! Holy moly the beef stew was unbelievable. We will definitely go back to catch another Chelsea match and grab some more food! Thanks for having these games on and having great food!
google avatar

Keri G.

Yelp
Stopped in for an after dinner drink and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and offered samples of the brews on tap. I loved the first one I tried, so I stuck with that. The bar itself had a distinct cigar smoke smell, despite the no smoking policy. Must've wafted in from the smoker's patio, or the neighboring cigar store, or both. Regardless, I always enjoy going to Fado's and the vibe there.
google avatar

Amy F.

Yelp
By far the best fish & chips in town! I also recommend getting their cheese dip as an appetizer.

Russell H.

Yelp
Good place and atmosphere. Their corned beef is amazing . Cabbage not as cooked as I prefer but still amazing . Bread pudding is a must.
