The 25 Best Restaurants In Rome 2024

"Whether you’re looking to have a very late lunch or an early light dinner, Fafiuchè is the perfect place for apericena, the Italian word that combines aperitivo and cena and means something more than a snack but not quite a full dinner. They serve wines from Piedmont and Pugliese-inspired snacks, plus a few hot dishes like lasagna and the bagna cauda, a warm garlicky anchovy dip with vegetables. If you stay for dessert, order the bruschetta Fafiuchè—they take a slice of toasted bread and top it with thin shavings of cioccolato cremino, a drizzle of olive oil, and a sprinkle of sea salt." - gillian mcguire, annie replogle

We managed to get a table just before closing time. We ordered the duck lasagna, a dry white wine, and a beer. The white wine was delicious, but the beer was served in a wine glass, which felt a bit odd. The lasagna looked a bit messy in the photo but tasted great. They brought bread at the beginning, but since there was no olive oil or anything else with it, we weren’t sure what to do with it. The cozy little street and candlelight atmosphere were lovely. We'd definitely come back - after learning a bit more Italian 😊

Google
Very well in general. As we had no booking on Friday, they offered us a table just for 2, for one hour, which we accepted and no deception there. The food was delicious, fast serving between the meals. Friendly personal, although the older lady didn’t speak much english we managed to make to order, and also get some off menu recommendations. But sill the place is small. The price was good.

Google
Great little spot. Wine and beverage list was incredible. Piedmontese cuisine is definitely different than Roman cuisine, so be ready for something a little different. Their wine list is amazing. So. Many. Wines. Will be back next time I’m in town.

I wanted to find a place to enjoy good Italian wine and this was recommended by our hotel. Amazing family run place with 1000+ bottles and the staff made such a great selection for the wine we came back a 2nd time. A great selection of light bites for food that even our kids enjoyed. 5+++

Google
Horrible experience here. Yes the food is great but if you do not speak Italian expect to be ignored by the staff. We had a long wait for each course, and by dessert no one came to take an order or share a menu. After half an hour we were asked to leave because the next seating had arrived. Would not recommend unless you’d like to be disrespected. If they didn’t want tourists they could make it more difficult to make a reservation.

Google
Napkin pasta was great, but the beans, and the pasta were fantastic. Wonderful service, great wine from Northern Italy. Strong recommendation you go!

Google
Very mediocre restaurant. Haven’t seen bad review - that’s why we chose this one. However, vitello tonato was worse than we tried in Serbia and even at Bali. Pasta was awful, but it was recommended by waitress, so I guess it’s just something they need to rise sales for. Prosecco was ok

Google
Laid back eatery. Fabulous food. Duck lasagne was amazing. Huge wine selection by the glass or bottle. Excellent team running the place.

Yelp
To write a review the app reminds me of a few things to consider: food, service, and ambience. Our party of three felt this embodied a 5 star experience on all aspects. We ordered a couple of small bites. There was something that was called the prohibited sandwich and the beef bruschetta. They were both amazing, but we are all trying to figure out when we can fit time in to come back for the bruschetta. The server also said that was her favorite. The service was very welcoming from the people that sat us, explained the menu, and checked us out everyone was kind and helpful. The ambience is everything you hope for when visiting Rome. A slightly off the main roads experience that offers a feel of what it might be like if you were lucky enough to call this city home. Grazie Fafiuché!

Yelp
This was our favorite spot in Rome and we ended up going two different times! I would recommend a reservation or to go early. If you go without a reservation, they may give you a specific time you need to be done by so a reservation can have the table. The service was awesome! All of the people were so kind. The first night, we had the beef and horseradish cheese bruschetta and it was incredible! The second night we had a beef dish the server recommended that was equally delicious. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Yelp
Some excellent wines and small plates. Interestingly, they warn you when seated that you can only stay for an hour. I believe they have reserved tables later in the evening. It was fine since we only wanted some wine and small plates. There were a couple vegetarian items on the menu so we ordered them and the came out quickly and were tasty. We had a couple glasses of wine. Sticking with whites for this evening. Some unusual pours. Eccentric but very good. Left satisfied.

Yelp
Hidden gem near the Colosseum. Excellent selection of wine from the Apulia region of Italy. Food is offered, but it's a wine bar. Go to experience aperitivo.

Yelp
This tiny wine bar was one of our favorite spots in Rome! It's off the beaten path and feels way more like a locals spot than anywhere else we went. We came for apertivo before dinner and it was great. We arrived way too early, they opened a bit later than they said they would and we were the only guests for at least 20 mins after they opened. So head there on the later side. We ordered a bottle of wine - the wine list is overwhelming if you don't know Italian so we took a bit of a shot in the dark and ended up loving what we choose. Everyone else started arriving and they put out the "snacks". There were at least 10 different choices: faro salad, pasta, fava bean pasta, various bruschetta, couscous salad, and a mashed potato zucchini thing. The amount of food and options was overwhelming in a great way. It was so much food, we could have easily eaten dinner there. Our bill for four people was 34 euros. It felt like an incredible deal. I highly recommend this spot if you want to do something unique and experience more of Italy in a less touristy way.

Yelp
Originally, my husband and I wanted to go to Taverna dei Fori Imperiali; however, we had an awful experience when we talked to the waiter. His attitude was so rotten, we decided to move on. We walked down the street and saw this beautiful and cozy restaurant. We couldn't help but stopping in. With our limited Italian, we were able to find out it was a wine bar but also served food. We really loved the wines we had picked and the food we had chosen. The food was so scrumptious. It was perfect. My hubby and I did the happy hour deal. In addition, we ordered a plate of charcuterie as appetizers. Then, I had this beef dish that was cooked in Barolo wine. It was delectable. The beef melted in my mouth. We do not remember what the hubby had, as you may already know, the wine was very good. We highly recommend this wine bar and restaurant.

Yelp
The dinner is typically a buffet style set-up with appetizers and such. Great wine selection, even better staff. The nicest people! We came in one night for a bottle of wine, left a valuable item behind by mistake and, much to my relief, it was still there waiting for us when we called the next evening. We made a reservation for dinner and came in to enjoy a meal and retrieve our left item. We opted to order from the dining menu and were not disappointed. It was great! The lasagna was delicious, topped with vegetables and sauce. I'd recommend the place for dinner or just a bottle of wine. The tables filled up pretty early, so I'd recommend a reservation for dinner. We came in at around 7 to a mostly empty restaurant and by 8:30 the place was packed.

Yelp
Excellent wine selection and a good sized buffet for aperitivo, although you may get charged if you go up for a second plate.

Yelp
This is a fun casual place that focuses on wine. We visited while they had their appetizer time which meant you grab a plate and go up to the front counter and fill up your plate with meats, cous cous, rice and bruschetta for €3 a plate. Not bad! We then asked someone about buying a bottle to take home and despite the language barrier helped recommend a great wine.
