"Fahy’s isn’t exactly a sports bar, but it’s a swell place to watch the game nonetheless. An oasis of beer and strong drinks (skip the wine) on a quiet stretch of Burgundy in the Quarter, Fahy’s attracts a vocal crowd of Saints fans making gameday a downright religious experience. A Cheers vibe for sure, with plenty of TVs for football and pool tables for taking a break from the game." - Eater Staff

"Fahy's has all the essential characteristics of a decent Irish pub — pool tables and darts, cheap drinks, and a space that is cramped enough to encourage people to talk to each other. Located in the Lower French Quarter, it's a longtime spot for blending tourists, service industry workers, and neighborhood residents." - Eater Staff, Stephanie Carter

Google
Nice irish pub, with a couple of pool tables and dart boards. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the place has a diverse customer base. Friendly barman and quick service. There's not much lighting, but it's still a nice bar to drop in for a few drinks.

Paul Pantera

Google
This is listed as an Irish Pub, but when we went almost everyone was gay, but as a straight couple we felt very comfortable. Apparently the gay club down the street kicks out a lot of people so they come here instead. Super friendly atmosphere, lots of locals, bartenders Todd and Robert are both friendly and helpful. Less expensive than nearby bars too.

Paul Milo

Google
We wondered off of bourbon street to find a place to play darts and were not disappointed. Bartenders were friendly and the drink prices were very reasonable. Pool is only 50 cents a game and they made some of the strongest whiskey cokes you'll ever try for $6. Guinness on top plus good beer selection to boot. Otherwise very local type of dive bar but a good place to get away from bourbon street for a little while.

Google
This place is, in the best way possible, what it is. It is a local bar. It is a dive bar. It does nothing that suggests otherwise. If you want ambience of a higher sort, look elsewhere. If you want relatively cheap drinks (they need to check their beer lines though), personable bartenders, and a local crowd mixed with one-off tourists, this is your place. People all get along. They enjoy their drinks. You can talk with everyone or stick to yourself. Your choice. You chose this fun place. So, choose your adventure. That said, it is miles away from the disgusting mess of Bourbon St., which is only minutes away. Been coming here for years. Hope it persists.

Google
I stopped in for a beer after a long hot walk. Fahy’s Irish Pub was a very welcoming sight. The decor is very old-school, in the best possible way. Very friendly folks and a wide selection of cold beer. Their prices are also very reasonable. I did not see any food but if they do serve it I would bet it’s first rate also. I will be back.

Google
This is definitely one of my favorite local bars in New Orleans. Nothing super special, just some pool tables, dart boards, and video poker machines but it’s great. It’s usually full of locals but very chill during the day. We come here every time we’re in town.

Matthew G

Google
We didn't eat here(nor did we look for a food menu). This bar was quite close. to our hotel, so we enjoyed stopping in for a couple of drinks in the evening. Both times that we stopped, we had a lot of fun. It's an Irish pub, with pool tables and a bar. Don't expect much more than that when you walk in.

Steve G

Google
The setting is great, and bartender Robert has that bartender personality. When my husband Mark and I visit my old stomping grounds Fehy's is our first stop.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
If you want a good old dive bar head over to Fahy's Irish Pub on Bourbon for some good drinks, pool, and locals and say hi to the owner, my new friend, Jack! This place is a great hidden Gem!

Howard H.

Yelp
One of the best bars in the French Quarter, off the beaten path and the prices are great!

Alma M.

Yelp
Came in to play pool with my family on our vacation. I loved how the bartender played music that we liked. Beers were $4 which was a definite plus. The restroom was very small.

Richard P.

Yelp
This is a little pub selling a good selection of beers. I don't think there is food so eat before you arrive. Make sure you have your drinking goggles on. If you're in the mood for a game of stick (pool) then you'll enjoy a fairly fast table with some of the rubbishy of sticks on the market. You just have to be better than the table!

Yelp
St. Patrick's Day at Fahy's Irish Pub seemed to be more than fate. It was fun. On an annual date destined for day drinking, we celebrated finding Fahy's with a few local draft beers and a couple shots of Jameson ,,, which are just $5 every day, all day, 365 days a year at Fahy's. Top o' the afternoon to ya! The fun was enhanced by drinking the legendary Irish whiskey from shot glasses attached to bright green strands of beads around our necks AND cool shamrock shades over our baby-green eyes. If this wasn't a New Orleans tradition for St. Patrick's Day, it is now. Reminds me of that old Irish saying: "May you have all the whiskey and luck that a cup can hold and at the end of your rainbows may you find a pot of beads." Fay's Irish Pub is a cozy neighborhood dive bar. It's not a place to order cocktails. You order drinks ... and then casually drink them while eagerly joining in (or quietly ignoring) conversations of nearby drinkers around the bar. Plus, everyone's Irish at Fahy's cause every day here is St. Patrick's Day. Locals welcome. Tourists allowed.

Yelp
Huh. I'm surprised that I don't already have review for this mostly locals bar in the FQ. I've met friends here many times over the years. And it's a chill place to hang out with friends and relax and have a few beers or whatever. This is not the place to order a fancy cocktail but their basic mixed drinks are strong and you'll live. There is a pool table. Do not sit on it. Also do not put your drink on the edge. You will get fussed at. Don't annoy the bartenders. And you'll have fun.

David G.

Yelp
Day drinking in the quarter, it one wants to drink with some locals in the area this is the spot. There is no rhythm or reason for what one will see in this establishment, and that's Nola in a nutshell. Enjoy!

Janette M.

Yelp
This little out of the way bar was delightful. The barmaid was awesome. There are pool tables and darts and TV and everyone was having a good time. I asked for a cup of coffee with a shot of Bailey. She said no problem and brewed a fresh pot of coffee and before I knew it I had a mug in front of me and it was great. Just like I was in Ireland. I was able to relax and dread our trip home tomorrow. Prices were exceptional! This was a typical neighborhood bar that was very comfortable and inviting.

Yelp
Cool bar. The bartender/owner is really nice and friendly me and my husband had fun talking to him.

Luke S.

Yelp
We stumbled in here on the way to dinner and were super glad we found this. Off the beaten path of Bourbon is this more low key Irish pub (with much more low key prices as well) Pull up a stool and have a Guinness or Harp. No frills here to be found just friendly bartenders and a good time

Mike V.

Yelp
What a cool little pub! Great service, great atmosphere, and good selection of liquor and beer. We had a great time here one afternoon and just chilled out and people watched...kinda comical actually

Josh S.

Yelp
Would have been a decent place if the bartender didn't acted annoyed that you were there.

Jacqui M.

Yelp
Not bad for a locale pub. Quaint, loud, and convenient. Can't beat that. Definitely a local watering hole. Plenty of fun conversation. Oh, and pool.

Matthew M.

Yelp
Great spot, a true hidden gem. Amazing ambience, not rowdy just right. Staff is great amd Todd was amazing! You ned to cone check out this place

Teneha B.

Yelp
Nice little bar that we stopped in before heading home. What a treat. I say treat because it made me think of 'Cheers'; not many places like that still exist. The lady at the door cards everyone, old, young, tall, short, red, blue, pink and the like. I ordered an IRISH CAR BOMB, but was told this wasn't available. I questioned why & the bartender said it was offensive; he made a correlation to ordering a TWIN TOWERS in New York sooooo I apologized then asked him to make me something good. Two pool tables in place allowing for two times the fun.

Wyatt L.

Yelp
The owner served our drinks at the bar and was awesome to talk with. I'm glad I sparked up a conversation and he told me a little bit about the interesting life he lived.

Grecia C.

Yelp
Great Dive bar. We've come two days in a row, they do great pours and their Irish cider is pretty good! You can shoot pool or play darts...

Nicole T.

Yelp
This bar used to be one of our first stops when we went to NOLA. Have anniversary shirts dating back to 2003. Will not be returning! If you don't agree with the way they think they will try to fight you?? A bunch of old assholes.

Emily M.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for catching non-Mardi Gras parades. Prices are low, bartenders are friendly, sassy, accommodating. The clientele is typically local and there's always a seat at the bar. A sleeper bar that keeps a low profile and consistently delivers a good time.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
My husband and I were checking out all the Irish pubs in town. Had a great time with the bartender Sarah & the locals there. Drinks poured strong & friendly, welcoming atmosphere!

Christopher W.

Yelp
Stopped into Fahy's with my significant other for a drink. This Irish bar has a strange vibe, its customer base ranges from every walk of life you can imagine. On Friday nights it doubles as a gay bar and the vibe can change on a moments notice. The drinks are good, the beer is cold and they have cider on draft which is a plus for me. Plenty of space and pool tables its a great place to creep and hang out.

Steve I.

Yelp
In New Orleans more than any other city, appearances are deceiving. This city is an old city with some buildings dating back to the early 1800's. What looks like an unappealing building may in fact be a refuge for one's soul. Fahy's is such a place. It is non-descript and unassuming from the exterior but once you venture inside it is a place where you will end up spending a few hours without even noticing the time. The walls and ceiling are decorated and have cool items such as trophies on the wall and posters on the ceiling. I also like the Christmas lights all over the bar. This isn't one of them modern fru fru bars. This is a classic bar that doesn't change much (if at all) through the years. The pool tables that are here will still be here 10 yrs from now. The cheap drinks will still be cheap when I am 60 yrs old sitting at the bar. Yup, this is a bar with staying power. You will always find more regulars here than tourists even though it is only two blocks from Bourbon Street. Pretty doesn't last. Try keeping that shiny new car looking like new (believe me I've tried hard with every vehicle I have ever owned). You can probably keep it up for a few months or even a yr or two but eventually the dreaded ding or scratch happens. After that you lose hope with trying to keep it perfect. Fahy's is like our cars after 5 yrs of use. It is still steady and reliable and now you have an emotional attachment to it that you didn't have when you first got her. Fahy's is a bar that I feel attached to. I love it here moreso now that when I first came here. It is a place where memories are made!

Machelle H.

Yelp
I don't understand out-of-towners' ideas about dive bars. This is New Orleans, so everything's a little older, and covered with a layer of, er, nostalgia that passes as dirt elsewhere. If you're looking around Fahy's and you think it's a dive bar, that's because your over-achieving midwestern work ethic is kicked into high gear, and you're listening to the grandpa in your mind saying, "these people should get out that broom and be productive." They are productive. They're working on keeping the French Quarter Pool League trophy at home. And working on making sure the Guinness is served most properly. And working on getting ready for the Saints game. They're planning their costumes for the next festival or parade. You can't judge Fahy's by Des Moines standards. It's really not a dive bar - it's a local bar in a historic district, like Cheers. Especially for dogs.

Nix D.

Yelp
Five years later and this place is still amazing. Not the hustle and bustle of bourbon Street with a great selection of whiskey. Plenty of TV's for football and pool tables. Love this place.

Zack C.

Yelp
great spot but please get new dart boards the current ones are extremely old and worn out, unplayable

Jeff T.

Yelp
Was here a couple of weeks ago. Great "dive bar" charm. The owner and bartender Jack made us feel right at home. When we go back to NOLA this is definitely a stop we'll make again.

Ken H.

Yelp
I will give this 1 star and thats only for the cheap price of the drinks.if you think this is an irish pub you must be high. The Guinness was stale in an irish pub. That pretty much says it all.

Purple G.

Yelp
Tonight was the first time in all the years I've been coming to this bar that I have felt colorized and less than. The fat guy who worked the bar tonight (7/23/21) was way more concerned with tallying and telling me my total rather than paying attention to the number of drinks I needed. I've never felt this way from Sarah or the other guy bartender (not sure of his name maybe Robert). Look... I am definitely going to reassess my patronize here. Having g said that, please think before you spend your money here.

Bradford B.

Yelp
They have Magners on tap. If that doesn't convince you, nothing will. And since Yelp told me to keep writing, I ordered another and was twice as happy. Where's the damn ten star review option?

Monique H.

Yelp
I loved this bar! I loved the bar mascot! And Yeah the owners of the joint are pretty awesome themselves! One of the best nights Ive had in a really long time was at Fahy's! Its most definitely not your typical bar in the neighborhood, but that's what makes it so awesome! The bartender was a transplant from Cali, so I got to talk Cali talk with him. That was nice! I drank MInd Erasers with one of the owners, she can definitely hold those down, like no other lady I've ever met! A locals bar, that was low key, chill and not snobby! The kind of bar I hang out at at home! I had a kickass time here! No complaints and thanks again for the Mind Erasers and great conversation! You made this girl feel at ease and at home, while she was far away from home!

Taylor N.

Yelp
Bartenders really ticked me off. Ordered some shots for the party I was with, and the two bartenders went ahead and drank two of them. When I went for the tab, they did not itemize my bill, so I'm pretty sure I was scammed unless half filled shots are 8$. Go somewhere else if you want to drink. All around unpleasant experience.

P B.

Yelp
Divey with a neighborhood bar feel. Good selection of beers, including Miller High Life and other dive bar staples. Steel tip dart boards and a pool table. Dogs welcome (bartender tossed a dog biscuit to Coco when she made it up to the bar). This is a bar. Standard stuff, but friendly staff and good, friendly clientele.

Heather J.

Yelp
Great dive bar, my favorite kind! Stopped by several different times during our trip to NOLA. Met the owners, they were super cool. Bartender, Diane (I think that was her name, maybe Diana-sorry), was super awesome, too! This place is laid back, filled with friendly people. N, over the top thrills, just good people and good drinks.

Brianell C.

Yelp
I love it here. The bartenders are awesome and make u feel welcome. This is one of the best bars in the quarters.

Jesse B.

Yelp
I just to got say that FAHY'S IRISH PUB, is must stop for anyone who visits the French Quarter! I took my family the week of 3-30-19 to 4-1-19 to visit and experience Bourbon St, and I got say that this Pub was my favorite place to stop at then end of each day, the owner was great from (Downey), the bartenders are friendly, great prices,Not to crazy, the drinks are NOT Watered Down! Felt welcomed the very first time we stepped in. I highly recommend this Pub. Fahy's.....Thank you the La Mirada & Downey Peeps!

Nostalgia J.

Yelp
Its just a dark little hole we wandered in to wanting a cocktail, but not wanting to spend another moment on Bourbon. Why 5 stars? 1. They have a dog, and he's like a mascot. He stands on the step and watches over the bar. You can tell he feels he's got a job to do. He's friendly, but well behaved -actually pretty aloof, until one of his favorites comes in. 2. Atmosphere captured us. We like dark quiet bars. Our one drink became 4-5 as we just sat relaxing and observing, listening to "himself himself" chat with a young woman who had recently discovered history and political activism. Nobody spoke to us, but the banter among the regulars was amusing. Actually the bartender spoke to us, 3. and she was very nice and funny. 4. other regs brought their dogs in for a drink. I love puppies 5.Our overindulgence came to about $35

Chris L.

Yelp
Often, tourists will ask me where to get the best bloody mary in the Quarter. Until a few months ago, I didn't really know. Then, one day I wandered into Fahy's, where my usual drink is the $2.25 draft, and asked Katie, the bartender/owner, how her bloodies were. She proceeded to show me. Now, when asked that question, I can answer definitively, "Fahy's, dude!" As Katie has pointed out to me on a couple of occasions since, she personally doesn't even care much for bloody marys. No matter, because she sure can make them. As many here have noted, the clientele is mostly local 30/40somethings that have long since outgrown the Bourbon St. mania, and just want to have drinks with old friends. Those shouldn't be hard for most of them to find, as the same people are usually in here day in & day out. (Don't these people work?) While some of the more adventurous tourists occassionally find their way here, the low-key ambience makes sure that this bar will not be taken over by fishbowl-toting frat types anytime soon. This is also my favorite bar for sitting in a corner watching tennis on the TVs as they always accomodate me. The bartenders have all been here for years and are fantastic at what they do and very friendly. If you want to make fast friends with Robert, ask him to recommend some Irish whiskeys. He'll keep you entertained for hours. On a sad note, Katie recently informed me that Gleason, the beloved canine mascot, has retired. However, there are usually still plenty of puppies on the premises, which I love. If I lived about a mile closer to this bar, I'd probably be in here far too much with my dogs. If I ever achieve my hope of opening a dog-friendly bar in the back of the Marigny, this bar will be my primary model.

Michelle W.

Yelp
We found this pub as part of Puzzles by the Glass scavenger hunt and turns out to be the best "local" place we have found in the Quarter. Lots of local character especially the owner (Katy). This sweet lady started up a conversation with us that we didn't want to end. She honored us with the house shot which was a delicious fruity not "kick your butt and get you drunk" shot. She told us funny stories and welcomed us back which will be happening the remainder of the week. Did I mention "local" prices!!! It's a great find in this expensive area.

Erika C.

Yelp
Although I would like to not think of myself as a tourist in New Orleans the cold hard fact is that I am. How many times have you walked into a bar in a city that was not yours, or for that matter in your city and sat quietly unwelcomed. Fahey's is not that bar. Katie, beautiful Katie...what a great host. She is lovely, friendly and generous a great and congenial bar owner who is so happy to have you there. Every time I am in New Orleans I am always glad that I went here and I won't ever miss an opportunity to go back.

Maitri E.

Yelp
My own personal Cheers. My home away from home. The owner and bartenders are some of my dearest friends. Everyone calls it a dive, but it's one of the cleanest dives I've ever been in. Great tap beer selection, fine wines and best Caucasians ever. No food available, except on away game or occasional celebrations when we have potlucks. You can always have food delivered from the Three Legged Dog, Verti Mart or some other Quarter joint. To clarify: It is a locals' pub, yet everyone is welcome; the two pool tables are great; friendly dogs are allowed, but The Bar Dog is Gleason, not Jake.

Linday C.

Yelp
Fahy's bestows everything an Irish Classic should, few frills, all thrills - corner bar entrace off the street - cozy home small town comfort - heavy pours from a well seasoned bartendress - pool tables, fine music - variety of clientale characters with an edge

Mary M.

Yelp
This past Saturday night....My 2 Daughtes and I decided to visit Fay's. Daughters Friend highly recommended this pub based on a special drink she wanted to buy. The walk wasn't far, but far enough to enjoy nice quiet conversation away from Bourbon St. My expections were high, but soon was very disappointed. My Daughter orders her drink up at the bar, my other Daughter and I want to order as well. Bartender walks away before I can place our order drink, even while holding up our money...he blantenly ignores our request. Walking around his small bar visiting the other patrons around the bar. After about 10 minutes of waiting we turned around and sat down at a table. We decided we've had enough and leave. My Daughter calls her friend who seens to know the owner and She replies " He's kind of snoodie and does not like tourists". Wow welcome to New Orleans! Not a good way to treat your customers whether they are tourists or your neighbors. I wish I could give him more stars but in reality he doesn't even deserve the one! There's a reason why we are called Minnesota nice....maybe he needs go a road trip and see that's there's more to life outside of his little neighborhood pub.

Michael M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink on a recent Saturday night while barhopping down Burgundy; played a couple games each of pool and darts. Aside #1: barkeep supplied great bar darts, and even offered to sharpen them up after a couple bounce outs. He then produced a giant stone, and spent a few minutes sharpening each arrow--he obviously knew his way around a set of darts. Aside #2: there appeared to be a bunch of "pool cue lockers" around the bar, as well as a slew of trophies, so I'm guessing this is the place to come to play some pool in the Quarter. If I owned a bar in the Quarter, this is the type of place I'd want: small, manageable bar on a quiet corner, with a nice pool table and a couple dart boards. No frills, what you see is what you get. Will def be back.

David S.

Yelp
Little Irish pub in the French Quarter, out of the way from the craziness of Bourbon Street. I stumbled into it while walking around the neighborhood, and it's a find. There really isn't too much to it: a couple of pool tables, darts, a few tables... But the atmosphere is friendly, as was the bartender, who chatted with us for a while and gave us some good recommendations for places to go eat. Not a tourist trap by any means (which is a nice change in the French Quarter), and the other patrons seemed to be locals. The drinks are cheap and strong (as they are in most New Orleans bars), and they have a pretty good selection of beers on tap. Cool place.

Coral E.

Yelp
While staying at the Maison Dupuy hotel, we started and ended our evenings at this Irish pub diagonally across the street. Just a gold ole Irish pub with tv's, pool tables, games, great drinks and good service. Can't go wrong!

Meredith V.

Yelp
Total dive bar away from the Bourbon Street madness. With two pool tables, there some distraction, if you need it. Mostly full of locals, Fahy's was across the street from our hotel, so it was a great place to stumble into on the way home for one last whiskey. The locals and bartenders were friendly, the drinks were cheap, and there was even a cute "bar dog" Jake to keep you company!

Bob B.

Yelp
Came in at 1 pm on a Sunday for some beer, pool, and darts. The beer tasted gross like they hadn't cleaned their lines in who knows how long. 5 beers was $21 and only the person who finished theirs was in a bottle. For reference we are 5 non-beer snob guys in our 20s on a bachelors trip, so the beer had to be awful for us to not finish it. The owner was doing a fantasy draft and wouldn't let us play pool on the open table or darts on the open dart board. I'm not sure why she couldn't draft while we played pool or darts but each their own. There were no signs and she didn't tell us we couldn't play until we had already bought beers despite us making it clear we were mostly there to play pool (asked to over charge the credit card to get quarters).

Nancy D.

Yelp
Put down the cheesy touristy Hurricane glass and step away from Bourbon Street! Wow, what can I say ... Just that having Fahy's across the street from our hotel was the best thing about the hotel! (It's a nice enough hotel, really, but wow!) I know that the locals would be happy keeping this nice Irish pub under the radar (and those who believe Billy Lee's review just help keep the crazy riff raff away), but I just have to chime in and say that this bar was what made our New Orleans trip truly memorable. Highlights: * The bartenders are amazing. Katie (also the owner) made us feel welcome from the get go. Robert was truly amusing (although he told me when I wrote this review to say that he's a bastard - sorry Robert!) and Scott makes the most amazing Bloody Marys around. I also had one of the best Irish coffees I've ever had (and I've been to San Francisco and the home of Irish coffee). I joked around about moving down and becoming a bartender here, but I was told that the bartenders have been working there forever and there's a LONG waiting list to be hired - I can see why! * The prices are very reasonable. (I don't care if they don't have guys out front with signs offering 3-for-1!) We drank lots, bought rounds for folks, did shots (with patrons and bartenders alike) and our tab never exceeded the equivalent of a few full rounds at Pat O'Brien's. * They pour an excellent Guinness. This is important. We're from Boston, Ireland of the West and this is one of the best pints I've experienced outside of Galway. * The locals are great and if you're not a total douche, they will be happy to make restaurant or music recommendations or share the (in)famous Mind Erasers with you. We even met some tourists who have made Fahy's their bar-away-from-home and visit on every trip to New Orleans. * Smoking. I know this might not be a draw for everyone (and not everyone in our group was happy about the smoke), but we loved being able to enjoy a pint and a cigarette without having to step outside. We started and ended every night of our stay at Fahy's. Luckily we found it almost upon our arrival. We heard stories of people staying at our hotel who didn't find Fahy's until their last night - tragic! I could go on and on but I need to go to rehab and give my liver a break after a mere five days of debauchery and mayhem. If you visit, please tell everyone Nancy from Boston says hello. I miss them everyday! :)

Terrence B.

Yelp
This is a corner bar that you wish was on your corner in every neighborhood you've ever lived in. An unassuming, class operation and a great off-hour hang. Blow off Bourbon Street and find another reason here to remember New Orleans fondly. Kudos to Katie & Jack (owners), from your newest fan from Vermont!
