My family has been coming to Fair Hills for decades, and it has long been one of our only shared traditions. I returned this year after a few years away, hoping to reconnect with something special from my childhood. Sadly, the experience was frustrating and disappointing. When we arrived, our cabin was dirty. Used towels were on the floor, trash from previous guests was left outside the door, and there were no clean towels or soap. We did not receive basic supplies until more than a day later. The cabin also had a carpenter ant infestation, these ants were crawling all over my bed biting me. Housekeeping has been cut back to once a week. Daily housekeeping was unnecessary, but cutting another thing added to the overall feeling that services across the resort have declined. Meals were another letdown. Breakfast and lunch are now buffets with stale or low-quality options. Even the cinnamon rolls were hard and dry. Dinner is still a sit-down meal, but we routinely waited 15 minutes or more before anyone came to our table. One night we waited 45 minutes with no service and were simply told, “We’re short-staffed.” It is clear that a lot of corners are being cut, and unfortunately, those cuts seem to affect staff and guests the most. Meanwhile, the owner and her extended family appeared to enjoy the full resort experience without any of the downsides. We even heard that staff members, who already pay for room and board, were being charged extra to eat a simple meal with visiting family. It is heartbreaking to see how much this place has changed. Fair Hills used to feel like a thoughtful, community-oriented place. Now it feels like a business that is coasting on nostalgia while quietly removing the very things that once made it meaningful. I hope things improve, but based on this visit, I cannot recommend it. That is something I never thought I would say.

I've been coming with my wife's side of the family for a few years. they always seem to have something new each year. You'd think this would make the cabin resort get farther from its start, but it's still a nice quiet getaway. I look forward to each year with the family doing our own fairhills traditions

As a wedding photographer, Fair Hills is just awesome! A beautiful resort nestled among the trees, Fair Hills provides such a gorgeous and unique venue for weddings. Liz and the team are excellent to work with and pay attention to detail. I heard from so many guests how much fun the whole experience was! Thank you, Fair Hills, for hosting such an amazing day!

My family has been coming here for 30+ years for our family reunion. It's really great for families with different activities for different age groups every day. The staff is always friendly and there are so many things to do from swimming in the pool, sailing or kayaking on the lake, a beautiful 9-hole golf course, disc golf, and even pool tables in the lobby. The cabins are cozy and they get updated fairly regularly while still maintaining that rustic feel. It's a beautiful little resort, and the prices are pretty fair for what you get.

Stayed here 2 nights for a wedding in September. The resort is very historic, it has been there almost 100 years and it definitely shows in some places. The weather was beautiful, but very windy so we were not really able to use the lake much. The sailboats looked really fun! We did not receive a key for our cabin, I'm not sure the doors even locked?! The cabins were ok though, I would call them rustic, but my bed was comfortable and everything worked in the bathroom. Loved the deck along the lake right outside the cabin patio door, great spot to sit in the morning. Not a golfer, but I heard from others that they enjoyed the wildflower course. There's also tennis courts, pickleball, shuffleboard, all sorts of activities. Good breakfast buffet. I have a feeling summer (or "family season" as they call it) would be a bit different with the resort full of people. Had a good time, and most importantly the couple had the best day ever.

My husband went to Fairhills as a child, and so we took the family this summer. It is a step back in time to the simple days of kids being kids, playing in the water, learning to sail, golf, swim, and live without screen time. The lake is gorgeous, the water is clear and clean and the cabins, though rustic feel like home. Beds are comfy and clean. Staff is super friendly and accomadating. If you want a fancy resort with attitude, don't come to Fairhills, but if you're looking for a place that is stress free and magical come check it out. Our youngest grandson actually said he prefers this place to Disneyland!

Yelp
I married into a family that comes here annually, three generations and counting. This is a great place to do a week together as a family in the summer. For the kids -with endless energy- there are both planned activities and ready access to all sorts of things to prevent boredom. All sorts of water toys and playmates and a variety of land games too. For the adults, it's a genuine place to unwind. Ample opportunities to share in the adventure, as a family or on your own. From planned things (closest to the pin, waterslide) to spontaneous (grab a kayak and explore the lake). Or take your favorite book and rotate between your porch, the deck, and the lawn. The cabins are simple and relaxing, and it's nice to fall asleep in the afternoon to gentle waves. Even the wifi has been upgraded in the past few years for those pesky moments when you need it. Meals are held in a dining hall with servers. The food's not amazing but usually fits the bill after a day in the sun. Timing is never strict. What this place is not: a luxury resort with catering staff. If you're expecting St Regis of the Woods, reset. The amenities are from a bygone era, the staff is exceptionally polite but aren't here to run drink orders, and the grounds are simple but not overdone. You won't find TVs or a high-class cafe, nor room service and gourmet cuisine. You will find time to actually take a break and recharge. Honestly, it's hard to think of how Fair Hills could improve. Sure, the cabins could use some updating (though I suspect a massive capital cost). And it'd be nice for places a bit nicer for adults to congregate, maybe stocked with some beer (most common spaces are kid-friendly, and so not too comfortable). But the easiest thing would probably be an upgrade to the coffee, which for a San Francisco snob always leaves me hanging.

Yelp
Our Family has been coming here for over Fifty Years. And there is a reason for that. We continue to have the best week of the Year here. It's a place where we can unwind from the hectic work Year. Memories are plentiful. While there have been many upgrades over the years, it still feels like the first time I came here in 1971. Grew-Up with many families that come the same week we do. Do yourself a favor and give Fair Hills a try. I think you may feel the same as our family has all these Years

Yelp
Our family's annual vacation spot for over 20 years! Great place for all ages, 88-year-old grandma to 2 & 4-year-old kids. This is a magical place where kids go to activities that they love while parents can golf, play tennis or swim in the lake. Our family especially loves the staff's weekly performance, The Hootenanny! Would recommend a vacation at Fair Hills if you are an active family looking for a wholesome vacation on a beautiful lake. Bonus is that Mom doesn't need to cook or clean....everything is included.

Yelp
We were here for an extended weekend/wedding. I can't say enough good things about it. The staff was incredibly accommodating, patient, and welcoming - they treated all 130 wedding partiers as valued guests. Their range of activities kept us busy for three days, including all kinds of water sports (kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, paddle boating, sailing, fishing), bikes (for a fee), golfing, golf carts (for a fee), bonfires, pool/hottub, deck over the lake and deliciousssss breakfast. The wedding, of course, was gorgeous. The resort was perfect for the ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and dancing. The food for all of the above was consistently yummy. They basically put the entire place at the disposal of the wedding party, and it was so. much. fun. I rave, but I mean every word. One note - it is very family friendly/laid back, so give them a little while to wander in and help you if you're checking in late. When we arrived, they were practicing singing in the ballroom (oh yeah, many of the employees are from Europe, so they sing to practice their English). And, you may have to drive around for awhile to find the main lodge, as there are no signs. I can't even say how wonderful it was. Perfect weekend there.

Yelp
The wifi is nonexistent. The food has improved 100% in the +20 years we have been coming here. Still. I can't get past the wifi. Every piss-ant motel has wifi that works. Why, after this many years, does it still suck so bad that it basically doesn't work? I heard one of the trivia teams name themselves "overpriced." Not a very subtle dig. Still, I love it and look forward to it every year.

Yelp
Run don't walk away. Worst meal ever, so bad manager comped drinks and we left hungry rather than give it a second attempt. Raw shrimp skewers, $11 stale bread brisket sandwich that had literally 6-7 little julienned pieces of brisket with nothing on it and bbq sauce on the side. Sincere but inexperienced waitress learning red and white wines. Most horrid meal ever.

Yelp
We came here for a week to celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. We had a great time. There was a wide range of activities for kids, teens and adults. The staff was wonderful and helped make our week one to remember. I highly recommend Fair Hills for families looking for a relaxing, fun vacation.

Yelp
Came in autumn. We were the only ones staying at this dark and creepy place. No locks on the doors, inside or out. Felt like being at the Bates Motel. No food, no TV, no refrig. In the morning, they offered us cold toast & bacon leftover from day before, kept under the counter. Beware...
