The rooms were clean, but small and cramped, the fridge is tiny, the fridge door sticks & no freezer. But the worst of all is in room 104, we were kept up since 5:00 am with the sounds from above. We are not sure what was going on sounded like moving furniture (teen daughter said it sounded like a bear trying to get in). It wasn't once or twice but continually until about 7:00am, mind you we arrived at 2:30am to rest before the final leg of our trip (so much for that). When I went to phone the front desk about the noise, phone wasn't working. Nevertheless, we tried to catch a few hours of rest, but had to run to breakfast at 8:30am because they close earlier than most (at 9am instead of 10am).
Breakfast was actually pretty good with variety including oatmeal waffles, sausage biscuit sandwiches, in a clean (yet, small) dining area. Person working in food service was extremely nice & made sure to ask if we needed anything else before she closed the area up.
When we asked front desk for late check out because we were up most of the night because of the noise she said "sorry, can't do it". Of course she could've just placed our rm as the later clean & accommodated the 1 hour delay we requested, but she didn't care enough. Keep in mind the small eating area is adjacent to the front desk and about 10 mins earlier we heard the front desk staff say to another customer "oh you guys are leaving, okay well cancel your late check out then". Hmmmm. I did ask to speak to manager or supervisor who of course "wasn't in".
We told front the phone wasn't working in the room, she said okay I can send someone to fix that. We said that won't do us any good, please don't send anyone now, she said okay. 10 mins later as daughter was getting ready to go into shower, someone knocking on our door yelling housekeeping. We both yelled back "yes, what do you need" & then instead of answering they walked in saying oops we thought you guys left & we were going to fix the phone. Unbelievable!
What an overall waste of time and money (aside from breakfast). This location is prime for weary travelers, but is not worth the money if one can't rest. There are about 5 other hotels nearby includng an adjacent Hampton Inn, my advice is to GO ELSEWHERE if you need to rest.
The only reason Fairfield achieved even 2 stars is the kind & hard working food service person. Fairfield/Marriott management do better! Also I recorded the sounds that kept us up whenever you are willing to hear.
