"Beyond being one of the more perfect independent grocery stores around, Fairway is the perfect New York cross section: You'll see young families, old ladies in fur coats, students looking for good food at good prices, and just about every New York "type" you can think of. "

I don’t get it. A kosher section and you let non service dogs in which is against the law federal and state. But good thins are this store has a wide selection and after six stores in Chelsea it has good prices and it’s CLEAN. VERY CLEAN except for the canine. I wonder if they wipe him/ her. BUT HERE IS THE KICKER: service. There isn’t any except the security guard who greeted me on entrance and helped me with a cart since there were no baskets. I couldn’t find anyone to help but then it hit me- it’s a holiday. But what really slapped me in the face was the check out woman. I said I needed help at the self check out. She snarled at me 5. 5. 5. Omg I said I was on the other side and I politely said. I don’t no where 5 is plus being a senior citizen my hearing isn’t the best. This is sad since this to me is one of the better stores in our neighborhood. Oh well.

I was working in the area and while passing by decided to come in to see if they had the same display of oils as they used to in a Brooklyn Red hook location, which closed a while back. They didn't.. but as I walked through, I saw an amazing olive bar, really cool and expansive. (which by the way saved the review) because Sushi was terrible.. I often grab other supermarket sushi while in a rush, and it's never bad... this one, however, I do not recommend..

The quality of goods and with pretty good prices for the Chelsea area this store impressed me UNTIL checkout WHICH WAS A NIGHTMARE. I was snarled at when I asked for help. I was even reprimanded when I didn’t know where checkout number 5. My receipt says Scot was the checker but this was a young lady with attitude. I am sorry I am a senior citizen. I am sorry as a Dr that I did not know how to do self check out. I am sorry.

Google
I don't go anywhere exempt fairway! They'll have at least 1 brand on sale in every isle like a specific bread, orange juice, fruits. The big powerade for $1.40!! I haven't seen that price since the 90s. Really good grocery store for a budget.

Dr.T G

Google
Huge selection of herbal teas. Reasonable prices compared to Target. A few good discounts. Use the same rewards account as Shoprite. Roasted chicken looks dry, and store needs a deep cleaning.

I had a disappointing experience at this store. The staff was unprofessional and made inappropriate comments, suggesting that I was homeless. Additionally, I was denied access to the restroom, despite it being advertised on their website for customer use. It was disheartening to encounter such a lack of customer service and professionalism. I will not be returning to this location. I guess Nike techs and a brand new cars means I’m homeless not to mention a very expensive hoodie that I had on and brand new sneakers i guess they don’t like my kind here I get it

Just moved to NYC from London. This place is my new local. I just can’t believe how insanely overpriced everything is. 18 bucks for 4 toilet rolls. 20 for 12 small eggs. 10 for a small bag of carrots. We’re not talking fancy luxuries here. It’s insane.

Google
Typical city market. It had a variety of items that you'd expect in a market. There is an excellent cheese, olive, meat/deli and seafood section. The bakery was fairly large and the pastries were fresh. The line moved quickly.

Yelp
I have no idea how we got here - have no idea why or how it has become so cumbersome to purchase groceries, yet here we are! Standing in one spot waiting in line at the deli counter garners suspicion apparently, so much so that random 20 something year olds are now assigned to follow shoppers, stand and stare, watch them, make them as uncomfortable as possible, make sure they arent doing anything illegal because shopping for food is a whole anxiety inducing trauma show now. Nothing can be simple, because people like this. Buying food to nourish one's self is actually hell because broads like this! Being alone and in public and running a simple errand is multiple human rights violations waiting to happen because people like this. Please be careful if you see this broad, apparently she thinks she's the feds. She literally stood behind me, lingered, and paced back and forth for 10 minutes while I waited - and STARED ME DOWN! 10 minutes! I'm tired.

Yelp
Came in to this grocery to get some healthy items. Fairway Market has a few locations including this one in Flatiron at 6th Avenue and 25th Street. It actually has a surprisingly big selection of health foods, supplements, and other things. Also basic groceries. The prices aren't that bad for around here to be honest. A lot like a regular grocery store but has more health food and product choices. It's got most of the typical shopping trip items. There's also a produce section. Good things can certainly be found. The prices aren't great but still aren't that bad though. A lot of places are even more expensive. There's a self checkout for those in a hurry and there's usually not long ass lines. Grocery store that's like a mini chain in Manhattan with a few locations close. It's also one of the bigger selections of stores around here. The prices are okay for the area it seems.

Yelp
This store is deceptively large and has a great selection. I particularly love their gluten free section which always has good stock of gluten free cookies, breads, crackers, baking stuff, etc. I also am always impressed by how much they have in their home aisle and will come here to get trash bags, toilet paper, etc. They also have a little fridge by the registers that has good healthy snacks that I enjoy trying. That said I feel like everything here is pretty expensive (even more than Whole Foods). It's worth it for the items I can't find at Whole Foods but otherwise I usually don't do large shoppings here
google avatar

Yelp
When I can't find something I need that Trader Joe's doesn't sell, usually I will end up here. Not going to lie, every grocery store in this particular area is insanely over-priced. Ridiculously over-priced. But this one for some reason might be a little teeny-tiny bit more reasonably priced. They do have a huge selection of cheeses that's exciting to view. The produce looks pretty fresh. Regular canned goods and boxed pasta etc. is probably the most worth for your value. Great looking baked items. Would seriously debate getting cake or pie from here. They also sell pre-roasted chickens which I haven't tried yet but I heard they're cheaper than whole foods and taste better. I'm still patiently waiting for Target to open up on 8th avenue nearby. But when Trader Joes doesn't have something random like curry powder, you'll find me darting in here.

Yelp
I got there at 8pm and the person behind the deli told me the deli was closed.... I had walked 30 min to get there so I was pretty upset but I just left because I didn't know what else to say. It was just really confusing because I had never gone to a supermarket when it was opened where someone told me the deli was closed. Even if I wanted to come back I would hesitate because I am not sure if the deli is open or not....

Yelp
I give Fairway five stars for customer service. I had a problem with something I bought at the UES location and happened to be in Chelsea so I went in to return it. I had a receipt so they took it back no problem. I would up spending even more money there because I just cannot resist this place! Colossal shrimp in the frozen seafood section is excellent-- I highly recommend! I am really into cooking nowadays, so I'm always looking for new ingredients. I'm also glad that they sell Now brand essential oils, which I noticed and bought. From what I could see, this store is self checkout only with people on hand to assist you if necessary.
google avatar

Marissa L.

Yelp
This Fairway used to be a regular grocery stop for me back when they first opened, but I think I come here less and less as the prices have gotten higher and the selection has gotten worse. With their close proximity to both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, I only really come here now when there's some random product I need that the others don't have. Checking out used to be very slow, but did improve when self-checkout was installed. Make sure to sign up online for their rewards club in order to get the discounts, as they didn't have a store card you can use the last time I went.

Yelp
Super frustrated with the bakery department. First off when I came in several days ago, I was looking for the international aisle which I never found after walking around 3x. However, I did see pink champagne cupcakes and cake slices. I waited at the bakery while the guy behind the bakery was on his cellphone, chatting. I looked at the cakes that were on display but none of them were pink champagne. I was simply going to ask if I had to place an order for a pink champagne cake. The guy never acknowledge me so I walked away and decided I would come back over the weekend to pickup a dozen pink champagne cupcakes. I went in Saturday to get an individual cake slice for myself and the dozen cupcakes. There weren't any pink champagne slices. The bakery was closed. There was only 3 cases of 6 pink champagne, cupcakes left, and one of them look like they were dropped. I grabbed the dozen and I left. By the time I got home, the icing slid off all 12. I'm checking the ingredients up and down to see if they had buttercream frosting and they did not. At that point, I realize that they use cake mix so what is the purpose of having people there, pretending that you actually bake real cakes. Anybody can bake cake mix. The long list of ingredients and not one slab of butter lets me know everything I need to know. That oily pink champagne frosting slid right off those stale cupcakes. To top it off the cake was nasty and the icing was nasty and why is the base yellow cake? Should've been white cake with pink champagne frosting. I should've just made it myself from scratch, but I'm not the best cake decorator. Honestly, I could've pipped these cupcakes with a more sustainable frosting and saved myself the hassle, money and the time it took to come to the city. Pissed me off. This is why Wegmans is top-tier. I would've gotten their strawberry shortcake, but I knew that the whip cream wouldn't hold up.

Yelp
Still on the the search for that elusive kikoman teriyaki sauce. As today was in office day decided to check out Fairway. Upon entering, brightly lit, food neatly displayed and appetizing you want to purchase everything. But my main purpose was not a success. Didn't have the brand I wanted, let's hope the runner up is worthy. Check out self and kiosk I guess that's the way of the world these days. Luckily they have staff on hand whom checked out purchases. He was very helpful and welcoming. Good experience and who knows if the sauce works out I'll be back. Lastly.. damn thee I was weak and I guess that's how the Entemanns ended up coming home with me.

Yelp
This was the closest grocery store to our hotel. It was similar to Kroger or Harris Teeter. We had brought water, Diet Coke, sbacks, and some prepared foods. Pricing was fair, considering the location. We liked it.

Paul T.

Yelp
The inefficiencies of customers checking out their own full groceries is absurd. It takes each customer 10 min and staff end up helping anyway. I've given up on this place because of the check out process.

Brian K.

Yelp
This was a decent grocery store pre pandemic, now it's just gross and horribly run. It's always filled with aggressive and angry Instacart shoppers, and the shelves are stocked with past dated or close to past dated food. Expensive, dirty and unpleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered Boars Head Premium Ham from deli and got a pile of shavings Perhaps they dump their garbage on a takeout orders.
google avatar

Fawn G.

Yelp
The 1star is for the stale salads you sell. Just opened a small $7.99 Caesar Salad and 25% of lettuce is stale. I have stopped buying salads here in the past few months due to finding better quality in my fave DIG and Chopt. Mind you the Mexican Caesar at Chopt made fresh in front of you is @$11 but I'd rather pay more money for a fresh salad than a stale one.
google avatar

Yelp
I come here often to get essentials before heading home. They have a decent size prepared food and cheese section. They don't really have much sales here and the prices are a bit on the higher side. The store is bright and has tight aisles. It is well stocked and has a good inventory selection.

Yelp
Great little place - wonderful- good selection and very nice staff. highly recommended

Yelp
Hey this is not a good store to purchase any raw meat. In the future if you are going to purchase any raw meat, my suggestion is open up the package first before you leave especially if you live a fall distance. Fortunately I live two blocks away. So I was happily to return the ribs back. it was definitely a red flag when there wasn't no expiration date. it was frozen but it wasn't no expiration date on the tag. I know better being familiarated with the FDA. I should have left them ribs right where. People beware.

Yelp
Essentially a super-sized convenience store with gourmet touches like a cheese counter, bakery, and modest liquor selection. The prices are cringey if you're used to suburban grocery stores. I sought cake, however, and though the bakery was closed late on a Sunday, they had a fridge with pre-cut offerings. I grabbed a take on a local specialty, a Blackout Parfait, based on Blackout Cake. It was good for a made-ahead dessert.

Yelp
At the market in Chelsea, New York, the individuals who work the front of the store, seem to be miserable people, and they take it out on customers. I would say 90% of the people who work upfront at the self check out and the registered need to be replaced and find people who are happy to have customers in the store and who can have a nice dialogue both ways. The people there now treat you like they're doing you a favor, actually yell at you and speak down to you. The one woman literally yelled at me tonight Just a miserable person all around. Going to try and get in touch with the CEO. They need to put mystery shoppers in and get rid of the toxic people.
google avatar

Yelp
Crowded and a bit haphazard, but friendly staff and (most) everything you need! We loved the puckle selections - great buckets of goodness!
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
The Fairway is expensive, the selection is not too great, and the service is terrible. HOWEVER, I go back nearly once a week because they have all I need for city living. Also because a Trader Joe's is too far away. On my most recent visit I got cold cuts from the deli. The quality was poor. And the cold cuts had an odor to them. It was likely because the meat from which they were cutting had expired or not been stored properly.
google avatar

Diana E.

Yelp
The staff is incredibly rude. I was there Sunday night 8.45 pm and got treated like shit, specially by the man moping the floors and the man by the exit door.
google avatar

Paul V.

Yelp
I'll be honest, I'm not sure I've ever had a truly special chopped cheese sandwich anywhere, and while the option at Fairway Market checked the box at 2AM after an evening of drinking, I'm very sure there are a swath of much better chopped cheese sandwiches out there. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Fairway Market is a market first and seemingly a deli second, and I was surprised to find that they even made sandwiches behind the counter at all. Even so, our orders came out quickly. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? $5.00 for a decent sized sandwich is reasonable anywhere in Manhattan. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? This was... fine. I can't say that anything tasted as though these ingredients were of notable quality, but at the end of the day it tasted good at the time, which I guess is all that matters. Single Star. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? I wouldn't, but I'm excited that my visit has propelled me to seek out better chopped cheese sandwiches. No Star.

Wayne B.

Yelp
extremely rude and nasty staff. the store rarely honors sale prices without an argument. the place is a mess.

Yelp
The Chelsea Fairway sells things consistent with other Fairways - groceries, prepared foods, rotisserie chicken, specialty items such as fresh mozzarella, olives, etc. It differs from other grocers, such as Trader Joe's, in that regard. Fairway's prices aren't much different than Whole Foods right across the street. WF has such a bad reputation for being expensive yet Fairway is just as high. I had some good and bad experiences with their prepared foods. The olives are fun but most items are just out in the open so I don't trust them. Fairway sets itself apart in the deli aspect. They have all kinds of meats and cheeses, including freshly made mozzarella. I recommend the salted.

Yelp
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, Dirty, the Manager is rude and doesn't care if you shop there. They shut their doors 1hr before close and when one particular manager is there he stands at the exit and refuses to let people in even thought their posted hours are open until 9. I had to run to Fairway and arrived 30 min before close and just needed one item to finish a recipe. Typical the entrance to was already blocked they do this at 8pm When the lazy manager is on duty and he stands at the exit so no one else enters after 8 so the store shuts down at 9. Open till 9 means the doors are open until 9 not 8pm. It's bc one manager wants to go home at 9 So he decides to close the doors at 8. Even thought posted open until 9. I'm sorry but if a customer is begging to just get one item and it's 30 min until close there is no excuse to not allow them to enter. Manager stands in the doorway and turned away I counted at least 20 people all trying their best to get shopping in before close but no bc this one manager is lazy he won't allow anyone in after 8 pm bc he likes to leave at 9. Sorry that isn't how open hours of work. If you close at 8 the post online you close the doors at 8. So if you turn away customers after 8pm then post your open until 8 pm Not 9pm. Rude and just wrong. I took a cab and ran from work to be turned away at the door. Never again fairway. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are only a block away. I just made it to Trader Joe's at 2 till 9 and they Let me in with a smile and the place was packed. Fairway is always dead bc the manager is horrible to everyone, store is dirty and they are out of stock on basic items. Terrible store. Great potential. Very sad it is mismanaged so poorly. When Fairway closes bc of the drop in shoppers and I have seen a steady decline whoever runs this place should know it's bc of the rude and lazy management. Only one manager is like this I know for sure. He was on duty Friday Feb 29th. Really rude and turned away so many people. I won't return until he has been fired. All the people who depend on open hours meaning the door is open until that hour depend on the store being open. Shame on you Fairway!!!. .
google avatar

Robert C. Y.

Yelp
It's a fun shopping experience. If they didn't have only one cashier on duty to force you to use their self checkout machinery it would even be better. I don't like doing work for no pay, thank you.

Thom E.

Yelp
Bring back cashiers. The self service stations are awful. I understand the owners want to juice EBITDA and this looked like a good idea in a slide deck but you're creating a lot of bad will with customers. The machines need an employee to come over if you are buying alcohol to check the ID. Or to add cold bar items. Or for random SKUs like Coke Zero that for some reason just didn't scan. There is one person standing around to help and there are like four people with problems at a time so people end up waiting, the line gets long. The bags are abysmal. My sense is the owners also are sourcing from the cheapest possible paper bag manufacturer. The handles broke immediately upon picking up. I double bagged but this was annoying to do because of the shape of the bag. The wheels on my cart stopped working near the end so I had to drag it There was a mosquito hanging out on the cut up watermelon Never coming back

Yelp
Great neighborhood market. Outstanding personable service, good prices. Great opening hours. Hard to find places like this in the area so strongly recommend.

Bridget C.

Yelp
This used to be a great store, but ShopRite ruined it. Fairway used to be a specialty store with a great selection of hard-to-find items (calamansi, Irish bacon) but now it's just an average supermarket. The worst change is the fresh fish and meat counter, which has shrunk by 75% and is staffed by people who know nothing about the products. The prices are now sky high also ($1.89/lb for chicken backs?). I'm done with them.
google avatar

Kathleen S.

Yelp
This is a review primarily for the baked goods. The everything bagel I purchased was very soft and chewy, but flavorless and terrible (no salt, too much poppyseed). The cookies with M&Ms are mediocre (on the brittle side, not soft), while the doughnut holes are similarly lackluster. I do like that there are often free samples in both the bakery and cheese section. The cheese section is actually pretty great, with a wide selection and solid quality. To better compete with the Whole Foods and Trader Joe's nearby, I have noticed that this Fairway location has been running good promotions (e.g. $1 Larabars).
google avatar

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
PSA for all those in this neighborhood-$5 sushi special on Wednesday's! Yay! Other than that, fairway is nice cross between TJs and Whole Foods. It's got a good selection from Brie to fresh produce. It's not quite as expensive as Whole Foods, but it's got a good variety of products. Solid bakery. Medium sized prepared foods section.
google avatar

Kevin F.

Yelp
In my experience, Fairways seem to be very hit and miss, depending on which one you go to. This one is actually pretty decent with a good selection, friendly staff, and well organized. There's a Trader Joe's just a few blocks away from this, which I recommend much more than Fairway, but that place can be very hit and miss as well in terms of what they have in stock. If they're missing something you need, head on over to Fairway and you'll be sure to find what you need and at a decent price. In addition, since that Trader Joe's is right there, that place tends to get much busier than Fairway, so if you don't want to deal with the ridiculous lines, head over here.
google avatar

Mary P.

Yelp
This fairways game is maybe not as strong as say the Kips Bay or Brooklyn Red hook locations but it is in a convenient location for me. They always have special promotions on unique products that you may not think about. The last two I can remember were for quinoa pasta and beet juice. They have revolve kombucha which is just about the only of that drink I can stand. Obviously they cater to the non gluten eating kombucha crowd but you can definitely find your basics here. The fruit is not as fresh as Whole Foods but it does the job and they always have plenty of it.

Mary P.

Yelp
Filthy store. Just got home with salad from the salad bar and there was a piece of hair over 12" long in the salad. Gross. I don't live nearby and apparently can only get a refund in person. Disgusting.
google avatar

Andrea W.

Yelp
I love that they slice their own smoked fish on the spot and I don't have to buy prepackaged! The items are always fresh and delicious

Beate E.

Yelp
This store (the original Fairways location) has nothing to do with the family run neighborhood market it once was. In recent years it has changed hands several time, apparently from one hedge fund to another private equity firm. All that remains is the name that gets bought and sold. It is now just another overpriced business with poor quality control and clearly unhappy and stressed employees that doesn't give a dman about its customers. It is crowded, hectic and unfriendly, and the checkout process is miserable. Oh did I mention overpriced? One example out of many: last week I stopped by to get some fresh corn and almost fell down when I saw the price for one ear of corn that didn't look all that fresh: 1.33 USD. That was, I repeat, for one (one!!) ear of corn, at the height of summer! That was the last time, and that time I decided I will never go back there. (Note: I have been living within 10 blocks of Fairways for decades.)

Kimberly T.

Yelp
TERRIBLE customer service. Stick with Whole Foods. You have options. There is no perfection in NYC as far as customer service though it does exist in other parts of the country. Here, if you are traveling, my advice... if you want traditional American customer service standards... and I'd typically never say this... but in NYC, stick with larger corporate chains if there is a chance that you may need to return something. I simply needed to return an item which had damaged packaging. Following waiting for the cashier to circle the item on my receipt, trying to tell me it was not on my receipt (and it was) they tried to take 10 minutes of my time attempting to demonstrate unsuccessfully that the packaging was ok. Trying to return items in my own grocery stores takes less than a minute... no questions asked. Here... in the land of crime and distrust... it's not so. My advice: keep it simple. Pay less. Find kinder people. Find more items. Go to Whole Foods.

Yelp
Yay, the Fairway Market on Sixth Avenue just opened today!! It is just a short walk from Madison Square Park for me. The size (sq. area) of the store is only less than 1/2 of other Fairway Markets. Maybe even 1/3. Some items like drinks are limited due to lack of space. The fish & meat section is smaller. There is a Chopped Salad bar and it was very popular. Overall it is a welcome addition to this neighborhood. Now I don't have to walk to the Kips Bay Fairway.
google avatar

Disco ..

Yelp
Don't bother. New management....it's now a giant Key Foods. Generic selection now no longer like a real Fairway. Too bad. Go to 74&Bway for great true Fairway experience and wide selection.

Yelp
A market in Chelsea? Yes. At first glance when it newly opened in 2013 was very exciting and fresh news. Now months later I check it out to become exited again. I became fully immerse in their large cheese department, the abundance of European candy, the endless organic department and, yes a hot bar and cold prepared foods are available for lunch/dinner. The cheese department appeals to me greatly as I'll pair it with a bottle of wine or slice some of my all-time favorite- French Brie for a sandwich. The bakery contains a small variety of baked goodies and sweets of cookies. A coffee bar is also available for the coffee lover's must-have morning cup of Joe. This Fairway Market on Sixth Avenue in Chelsea is significantly smaller than other Fairways which the aisles are narrow as you roam while you shop and browse. Staff are extremely stolid and lifeless as I wait on the checkout line whom no cashiers called out "next customer" nor was a blinking light flashing to signify the next available cashier for payment unlike Whole Foods. Since there is no called out "next customer" or electronic blinking light to alert customers the checkout line is chaos and lead a lot of confusion to me. Staff do not smile nor do they greet customers as they are all entirely appear disgruntled and stolid. It appears Fairway do not have any morale nor motivation in life which removes the will from the equation of life.

Yelp
I have to review this place. My good friend insists that Fairway is his favorite and best supermarket. I can't hate, but I've been here enough to have no idea! This definitely isn't on par with TJs or Whole Foods (ok the price is lower, sure). I've heard stories about the Red Hook location he insists on so until my visit then, I have to give this location a meh rating. It's clustered and overpacked with stuff, so whatever you need should be here. Then again the cheese selection is massive! I definitely got a bunch for a wine and board games night and had molding cheese soon thereafter. It isn't much, but come here with a grain of salt. The bed didn't stay fresh long along with the quickly molding cheese, but a solid super nevertheless considering the location.

Yelp
I bought the Whole Milk by Fire-way Farm this morning, the date is not expired but taste so weird. I returned back after 1 hour and I ask them to taste it make sure no other customer will purchase the same production again. The thing I get angry because nobody do apology to me. Just give me the refund and that's it.

Yelp
Do not believe their posted hours. Twice now the entrance doors have been closed around 8:30 pm even though their posted hours end at 9 pm.

Yelp
I ordered a birthday cake from this location. The person who helped me on the phone could not have been more helpful. They were so nice and attentive. When I went to pick it up, they found and confirmed my order. however, it was not fulfilled yet (even though I came at the pick up time). The manager eventually came out to tell me that they don't write on cakes there. This made absolutely no sense, I ordered and confirmed a birthday cake with writing on it for pick up. Eventually the manager grabbed a DIY gel Betty Crocker frosting writing package from the baking aisle and angrily tried writing. I'll also note it was a really ugly green that didn't even match the cake. The gel melted together, you could not read it. It was just a blob. He angrily told me he now has to throw the cake away and basically told me it was my fault. He was aggressively asking me what I wanted to do after that. It was super uncomfortable and unprofessional. I ended up just leaving empty handed. The whole experience made no sense and was a waste of everyone's time who was involved.

Yelp
Fairway upper west was my fav. It had variety and friendly staff and lots of great deals. I have moved to Chelsea for a few years and received lots of their promotions in Chelsea but I have fresh direct for accurate delivery, wholefood, Trader Joe's and other smaller organic stores surrounding me. Out of the blue, I got an instacart invite to go back. Instacart order was far from perfect- mistakes were huge but the electronic review made a small compensation for myself but I was stuck with many goods that I did not want and decided to go back to fairway to use their coupon and exchanged, and exchanged some of those unwanted instacart stuffs ie I kept a lot that I did not want already. I got yell at by the instacart representative and her manner did not deserve to face the client. Secondly, a staff at the cashier was yelling for security when I request to discuss with the manager. I did went ahead to talk to the manager- when he arrived, the cashier woman with long braided hair shut up instantly. Apparently, these people have been acting out when the manager not watching them. The manager handled the situation and exchanged as an exception. Since instacart does not affiliate with fairway, fairway manager cannot ask that instacart worker to behave properly. She was still talking loudly and trying to justify herself but she even read the date on the receipt wrong and wanted to make a scene to justify for righteousness. I showed her her mistake- and she shut up. I know that companies are cutting cost here and there. This is cutting you potentially returning customer. If the experience at check out was better, I would have put it back to my map. But I think they should train their people better. The cashiers, the service and now I understood why they line was so short.

Yelp
A mix of fine foods and standard items makes this an exciting supermarket experience. The kosher meat section, coffee and cheese options are noteworthy by the size of the offerings. The staff are friendly and check out is efficient. The prices are NYC standards with weekly sales.

Yelp
I think they are franchised now that they declared bankruptcy. Disgusting inside and the self service machines do not work and the 1 person assigned to them could care less.

Yelp
Staying in New York for a week and I rented an apartment. It is really the best way to see the city since it's about the same or cheaper for a hotel, but there's a full kitchen and no one to bother you. So living like a local, this Fairway was right across the street and a savior! Good selection of produce, dairy section, and deli. The fresh baked goods were pretty tasty as well. One late evening, didn't feel like going out, so I stopped in and picked up some sandwiches and a quart of lentil soup...turkey with artichoke and turkey with arrugula on cranberry bread...both very good. The soup was a little spicy which was great! I do have to agree that the workers are not friendly at first, but I initiated a small conversation with two and that seemed to brighten them up. Perhaps when they are nice, the customers are not, so I can see why. Though it is a little on the pricey side, I like it!
