Best Tampa-Area Spots For Chardonnay This Memorial Day | Eater

"This family-owned, Italian-style eatery creates a homey space to enjoy a glass of wine, with a warm wooden interior and rich menu inspired by both New York and Milan. Approachable dishes like pasta alla norma or chicken parmesan, alongside a chardonnay, make Falabella Bistro ideal for both a casual night out or a family dinner. It’s also a great spot to engage in the time-honored tradition of pairing fine Italian food with fine wine." - Matthew Meltzer

The space is so cute. Intimate, but well thought out. The server Nicole was amazing. So sweet, kind, and attentive willing to answer questions. And the food. All of it, was wonderful. Appetizer, main course, dessert, cocktail. There was nothing I did not enjoy. 10/10. I'll definitely be back! 🙌

We decided to stop in last minute and was very happy that we did. Very good drink selection. We started with the Ravioli flight- sauce was so good and each ravioli was so tasty. Especially liked the Lobster ravioli. Caesar salad was good- and the Chicken Marsala was one of the best we’ve had. The lasagna was exceptional ! We are very picky about lasagna! Then got the Arrogato for dessert- yum! Will definitely recommend and return here!

Visited the bistro tonight for an early dinner with the wife and kids. We didn't have a reservation but thankfully there was room for us and we were sat right away. They have the usual suspects for the kiddos, my daughter enjoyed her chicken tenders. I had the amaretto apple punch, it was refreshing, while my wife had a nice Pinot Grigio. I liked the bruschetta we had for an appetizer, but the fried burrata was a bit underwhelming, I was expecting it to be hot and almost melted, but it was a bit cold, in any case ... it was good cheese, just not how I was expecting it. My wife ordered the rigatoni and I had the frutti di mare. My pasta was delicious, a generous amount of seafood and bursting with flavor, it's a dish I'd have again. I was very surprised with the speed, our food came out rather quickly, great for hungry kiddos. We enjoyed our visit and would return for another bite.

Our first time here and we must thus was the best Italian food we have had in awhile. Delaney, our bartender, was on point not only with our drinks but also with her service. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I LOVE coming here. Everyone is so wonderful all the time and the food is the best Italian food i have ever had! We drive almost an hour away to just come here almost every weekend. I usually either get the chicken Alfredo or cheese ravioli with chicken. Just recently on Monday I brought my mom who was skeptical of the ravioli I ordered and literally asked me is it similar to Olive Garden because she does not like eating there. After I assured her on how delicious it is I gave her a bite and she said wow it tastes just as it looks divine!! She very much enjoyed it too! We usually get Nicole as our server and we love her!! She’s so sweet, and always has a smile on her face. She’s so amazing at her job and no matter how busy it is she knows how to come around and always check in on us! Highly recommend this spot!!

Delicious Food & Relaxing Atmosphere This Italian bistro is a hidden gem! The vibe is super relaxing—perfect for a laid-back meal. The chicken parm is one of the best I’ve had—crispy, flavorful, and smothered in just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The Philly steak sandwich is also a must-try: packed with tender steak and melty cheese on a fresh, soft roll. The desserts were amazing! Great service and cozy ambiance make this place a new favorite. Highly recommend!

Google
The food here was absolute perfection! The stuffed salmon with mushroom risotto is the best dish I’ve had in months. Not to mention the cheesecake… it just melts in your mouth. Service was attentive and truly, nothing could have made this lunch better. Prices are reasonable, food is outstanding, and the ambience is comfortable and relaxing. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
Enjoyed my first time ever here The three of us all had different meals one chicken parmesan one short rib pasta and one salad. All were very tasty and timely brought to our table. The service was decent as well. My only disappointment was the one local Florida beer on draft was an IPA so I had to pass and chose a Stella instead.

Yelp
I love this place ! We moved to Wesley chapel 4 months ago & ran across this place. The best Italian food in the area by far. We had Nicole today & she was very attentive & so nice. Definitely recommend trying :)

Yelp
Disclaimer: What you don't see featured is my eggplant Parmesan. I was so excited to dig in that I forgot to snap a photo of this delicious meal. I've had my share of this dish, but this by far was amazing. I tried it with the rigatoni noodle and it was . My husband tried their Stuff Salmon (also not featured but in his belly ). Our server, Nicole, was awesome and recommended our dishes! We will be back!

Yelp
First time coming and we chose the right place! I love how it's a part of a little strip mall. So you walk in and it looks like your normal comfy restaurant, not too crowded for a Friday. Our server was perfect and the appetizers were SO good. We got the zucchini and bruschetta. I didn't have the Bruschetta but they said it was delicious as was the zucchini. Was so thinly sliced and so crispy. SO good!! I got the eggplant Parm which I'm SO glad they had because they took it away from one of our favorite places. The eggplant was JUST as good ass the zucchini. Would totally come here again. Everything was delicious!!

Yelp
Disappointing food and experience. We sat inside but it was extremely loud inside. The space does not seem to have acoustic panels to absorb the noise. We were struggling to converse at our table with 3 people. I ordered the Eggplant Parm Flatbread minus red sauce. It comes with fried eggplant, pomodoro sauce (which I swapped for either a white sauce or just olive oil...I forgot which), fresh mozzarella, shredded mozzarella, ricotta cheese, basil, and evoo. Not very good. Eggplant was minimal. Would not recommend it come back.

Yelp

Yelp
The chicken parmigiana and short rib pasta did not disappoint! The waitress was very helpful and gave great recommendations. Great spot for a date or family dinner.

Yelp
Honestly a great time - the place is small, but comfortable. We ordered several appetizers ( eggplant rotallini ?, flight of ravioli and a short rib flatbread) all wonderful and great to share. For dinner I got the chicken piccata to share , which was super light and nice after the appetizers. My husband got the chicken parm which was definitely made fresh. Our friend got the short rib pasta. For dessert we got the tiramisu and an affogato and the tiramisu was absolutely delicious and so light!! Our server was absolutely wonderful, friendly. The food came out a little slowly but other than that , no complaints !

Yelp
First rate Old Fashioned crafted by Dylan. Relaxing bar setting with an adequate selection, top shelf service.

Yelp
Everything went well...we love coming here and it's our "go to" place when we have family and friends visiting. The experience is always great from consistently getting great food, to the service they so cheerfully deliver. Delaney, the bartender is our favorite, and Nicole, the manager, is always very attentive.

Yelp
My wife and I double dated with our good friends on Saturday. We started with Bruschetta and the Ravioli Flight. Both were excellent. For supper I had the Chicken Pesto Flatbread, very good nice and crispy with good flavor. The wife had Salmon with Mixed vegetables and mushroom risotto. She enjoyed it but said the salmon was a little bland. In Flabella offered her plain salmon because she didn't want the stuffed salmon as listed on the menu. If ordered as it was listed I have no doubt it would have been more flavorful. Our Friends shared the Burrata Rigatoni and loved it. Next time I will get the Cinque Ravioli with lobster or five cheese (both were delicious on the Ravioli Flight). We finished off with the cheesecake and Tiramisu and both were excellent. The atmosphere was busy but quite enough to have a good conversation. We stayed well past the time that we were finished eating but never felt rushed. We tipped quiet well because of how long we stayed but our waiter didn't know that until we left. We will definitely be back next time we are shopping at the Grove!

Yelp
Small location. I came I saw I ate & left So the Caesar salad seemed to be a little not so fresh. More croutons than I like in a tiny bowl. Than the Moscato was extremely cheap. I'm not bougie but I have had better. My server Christian was great, taking my order but I only saw him again once, to bring the bill. I had a gift card so I used it. Parking is terrible so I wouldn't return for the food.

Yelp
What in the world did I just experience because clearly this toast is not from earth!! Enter the spicy onion toast, it's got fluffy eggs that are cloud like with spicy onions over a perfectly toasted slice of toast. It's sensational and one of my favorite things now. I will recreate this or attempt to just because it's that good.

Yelp
Food was tasty We ordered appetizers bruschetta and pasta with aurora sauce so yummy but the portion for the price small Main course stuffed salmon with risotto was delicious My son took seafood pasta he said tasty My daughter in law took pasta with beef said was tasty too. Dessert pistachio cake and homemade cannoli was excellent Service was good too

Yelp
This was my second time returning and I don't know why I didn't write a review the first time but here it goes. This is a beautiful family spot to go right in Wesley Chapel. The set up is so cute because it's like a little garage that you enter, they have the sliding door or "" the garage up at all times you could sit inside or outside. We made reservations, but I don't necessarily think you need them. Servers are super nice! And the menu is very broad. There's a lot to choose from. I personally went with the stuffed salmon, and it was phenomenal! It was beautifully crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, however, the stuffing was a bit cold, but it didn't really bother me.

Yelp
What an amazing place so close to home that I did not know of before. I came here with the family, Christian was our waiter and he was excellent. We ordered kids spagetti with marinara sauce, gnocchi with pesto sauce, chicken marsala, and gnocchi with pesto sauce topped with grilled chicken. The portions was just right for us and the flavor of the food was amazing. The Old Fashioned was one of the best I ever had so certainly coming back here sooner than later.

Yelp
I have never heard of Falabella Family Bistro, but they had a good-looking menu and offered gluten-free pasta, so we thought we would give it a try. We had a great time, and the pasta was great! I had the Fruitti Di Mare (Fra Diavlo) with brown rice pasta, and hubs had the Oso Buco with polenta and broccoli. Our waiter Christian was extremely helpful and friendly in making sure all items prepared for me were changed out and free of cross contamination from gluten as possible. My pasta was boiled in a separate pot, etc, for my Fruitti Di Mare. The area is pretty spaced out with lots of parking available, including parallel parking right in front of the restaurants and located in the Krate shopping and dining center. The portion sizes were decent, and the price points were fair. My pasta was tastey and well seasoned. The husband loved his Oso Buco and said it was extremely delicious. We had a good time.

Yelp
I had the Short Rib Pasta, and my husband had the dinner special. Everything was delicious, and our server, Dylan, was superb! We especially appreciate the outside seating, where we can have a nice meal with our mini poodle. We love this place because it never disappoints!

Sam W.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Real Italian food for sure. Great menu options. The staff is so pleasant. I'd recommend this place for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
The best thing about this dining experience was the wine. Our waitress, Emily, was a sweetheart. However, the artichoke dip was overpowered by the tomatoes and just bland. As an entree, I had the chicken piccata, also underwhelming; Burnt bread and rubber chicken. My friend had the lasagna, she was also unimpressed because the dish was majority cheese. Not a traditional lasagna dish. Had high expectations going in from all the great pictures and reviews but left disappointed.
google avatar

Donna R.

Yelp
overpriced for the quality. way to much garlic in the sauce. I ordered the stuffed shells. only a meatball in it. no ricotta to be found. the shell, pasta fell about, way over cooked. the sauce had way too much garlic and salt in it. that's an amateur way of cooking 'Italian'. the servers were fantastic. I should have sent the food back. this is my second time at this restaurant and it will be the last.

Jason D.

Yelp
We love this place. Never had a bad experience. Staff is always on point. Bartender Delaney is incredible!! Love the seafood, Marsala, and rigatoni. Definitely check it out.

Yelp
It's been a while since we've visited Falabella at the Grove. I did like that it wasn't too overly crowded as other restaurants in the area. This bistro is nestled at the back end of the Krates. The decor is very New York which I can appreciate. We started with the zucchini and garlic bread. Both were tasty appetizers. I wasn't sure what to order and decided to follow my fellow elite crew to order the burrata rigatoni and I can definitely say they were 100% accurate. Absolutely delish. The burrata was like a buttery cheese with the meat sauce. Just heaven. The nice touch of the garlic knot to complement the dish. Well done. Everyone enjoyed their dinners as well. They do take reservations through yelp so that was pretty convenient since we were a bigger party. All in all. Great experience and will be back soon. Thank you.

Yelp
We came here with family for a dinner this week. The restaurant had been recommended by some of their friends. It is a casual family style place. The portions are not large, but fairly reasonably priced. Everyone ordered something different. The best of the lot was the short rib ragu over pasta followed by one of the raviolis. The sauces looked like they were out of a can/jar. The presentation in oval bowls along with a cold bread roll to take up space on the plate (?) wasn't anything special. Most of the family liked their food. Not loved, but liked. My meal was awful. I ordered the chicken piccata. The first time around they delivered a burnt piece of battered chicken that was black around the edges and the bottom. Think it was covered with capers to hide the burn marks. I sent it back just by looking at it. I couldn't believe the kitchen allowed this to be served. I kept the pappardelle which I had substituted for the regular spaghetti per the menu. The pasta wasn't bad -- just a touch undercooked even for me and I like "al dente" pasta. They brought me out a separate piece of chicken which was a bit lighter in color. The meat itself tasted like it was very processed and reformatted. Piccata is not supposed to be battered. That's why most folks order it -- instead of francese (francaise) style which is battered. It did have copious amounts of capers on it and a slight hint of lemon flavor. I had lots of leftovers -- and it wasn't a large serving -- but didn't take any home or give it to the family to take home. So, if you come here, I'd say skip any of the chicken dishes.

Yelp
This place was super good! The Alfredo was perfectly cooked and the onion added nice flavor. The eggplant was good, lightly sauced. I am usually used to sweeter sauces but this was super good regardless. The lemoncello martini was amazing, strong with great lemony flavor. Our waiter/bartender was friendly and did a great job as well. The restaurant was cute as well.

Yelp
Came here for a nice bday celebration, and it was a nice time- wasn't crowded on a Monday evening, was able to be seated quickly. We ordered the following: garlic bread, Caesar salad with shrimp, chicken parmigiana, shrimp Alfredo with fresh pasta, and the burrata rigatoni. Everyone enjoyed the food, the homemade pappardelle was good, the rigatoni didn't taste homemade but menu says it was. I'd say the rigatoni was the only dish that was mediocre. We enjoyed the cheesecake with a Carmel drizzle and the espresso martinis were delish! Everyone was very nice and accommodating.

Yelp
Having the YELP option for reservations is what immediately brought my attention to this restaurant. Then I noticed it in the number one ranked place in the area so we made our reservations and began checking out the reviews which are all very good! We loved all of our meals! The brushetta was amazing! We all shared the gnocchi, the ravioli and the aunt Nona rigatoni. Can't wait to go back! Also desserts were super good!

Yelp
Went to Falabella for a birthday dinner. It was nice inside. I like the decorations, and artwork on the walls. It's smaller than expected but that's not a bad thing. The service was okay. I felt like we were looking for our waiter often. It was not bad at all but not great either. The food was just okay. The calamari was great, and I would recommend that to everyone. The salad was a hit as well. Some of the pasta dishes were just okay. I think a place you should check out.

Yelp
I love the food and the service I really want to go back The fry burrada is the best

Yelp
What a nice hidden gem found in the back of The Grove! Service was so sweet, vibe had us dancing to some 90's and '00's hits and the food was insanely good! Some things to keep in mind: Homemade pastas at a price you would get from a chain Italian restaurant, but better quality! Great portions where you feel full but you always have a little more room for dessert (we had the tiramisu but was so good I forgot to take a picture) Reservations are available because it's that popular and it's perfect for families (kids menus included for those picky eaters) If you're looking for a great atmosphere, dynamite homemade food, and awesome service, definitely make your way over ... I'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
The food would've been absolutely perfect if it wasn't for this one detail. I ordered the burrata rigatoni which was supposed to be "fresh rigatoni, bolgonese sauce, burrata, and chives." Instead, I got a heavy cream soup. It's almost as if they mixed the bolognese sauce with vodka sauce. I could barely taste the ground beef/pork because all I could taste was tomato and heavy cream. I normally love a good sauce to dip my bread in, but this isn't what the menu described and they put way too much of it on the plate. If you look up pictures of "burrata rigatoni" on their Yelp page you'll see it's a completely different dish from the one on my picture. I was expecting something better for $23. At least the burrata and the bread were spectacular. The service was absolutely terrible. We were the only customers in the restaurant and none of the servers would do their job. The whole process of taking our drink/food order and then giving us the check took forever. To top it off, the kitchen also took a ridiculously long amount of time to make the food. At least the restaurant seemed clean and it was nicely decorated. It's in a nice plaza with some other restaurants and shops. We had just spent the day at the Mirada Lagoon, and it looked like only one of the few decent spots to grab a meal before going back to Tampa.

Yelp
what a great hidden gem. the food was amazing, the drink was fantastic. the food was out of this world. ask for Nicole!!!

Yelp
This is a nice find. The food and service was awesome. Meet a family friend there, we are out of towners and took our time visiting an no one minded a bit. We left full and happy. Will try this again. Please give it a try.

Yelp
The server was fine, and none of our concerns were her fault. We ordered for drinks a sparkling water and mixed drink. For an appetizer we ordered the caprese salad with balsamic glaze on the side since I'm on a special diet. There was balsamic glaze on it. The server noticed and was apologetic and offered to get us another one. I didn't want to make a fuss so I declined as I could just wipe it off. Keep in mind we still didn't get our drinks at this point. A few minutes after finishing our appetizer we were told they didn't have the mixed drink we ordered, several minutes went by and still no drinks. While we were waiting we noticed larger tables that came after us had their drinks and also noticed the cloth napkins and appetizer plates had residual food left on them. Once we received our drinks, they were fine. My red snapper was very good and the stuffed shells had great flavor, unfortunately the texture of the shells were very hard, undercooked and had been burnt on the tips. Don't think we'll be back.

Dianne A.

Yelp
So glad we stopped! Very fresh delicious food! Service was even better! Highly recommend! Christian was/is a breathe of fresh air! Total good vibe!

Yelp
Foods amazing, I ordered the Chicken Piccata and cannot wait to come back to try another dish. Service was outstanding starting with the host, Delaney was my server and I will ask for her again in the future.. great recommendations. I brought my yorkie and we sat outside where we enjoyed music and night lights, pleasant atmosphere.

Yelp
Italian fare offered in the GROVE part of Wesley Chapel. Lots of families dining here. We were a party of six and our server was prompt with drink orders and later returned for food orders. My wife ordered the Chicken Picatta with Pappardelle. Our orders started arriving in a reasonable amount time. Our dishes looked as ordered ... except my wife's Chicken Piccata was a bed of Pappardelle with a piece of an unidentifiable blackened protein of dubious origin. She asked if it was wrong dish because it resembled nothing like Piccata. The server he put the ppiccata in to the kitchen and this was they sent out. He took the burnt item back to the kitchen., returning about 12 minutes later with something that looked similar to a chicken Piccata. The first dish should never been allowed to leave the kitchen and served table side.

Yelp
I've officially found a new local favorite! Chicken Parm and Chicken Marsala are amazing. The bread....oh the bread...I'm speechless. So, so good. I haven't officially eaten there yet, but catering to go and dinner to go were super easy, both to order and pick up. The service was impeccable! So polite, helpful and efficient. Impressive these days. I can't wait to "dine in", the ambiance seems warm and cozy but with a modern flair. I'm a fan!

J.D. H.

Yelp
Friends recommended Falabella's as a good Italian place. Instead of going to my favorite steak place for my birthday, my wife and I gave Falabella a shot. I was very happy we did. My wife had the Chicken Parm and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Chicken Marsala (although I was tempted to get the daily special). I confirmed that the noodles were fresh made (the high quality made that obvious!). The sauce was great, not too heavy on any of the ingredients). I really enjoyed my dish (it was still steaming when it came out). For dessert, I ordered the Tiramisu (one of my favorites) and it was very good. It was smooth, flavorful, and was like silk. The portion sizes were good (enough for left-overs for another meal). The atmosphere is good, with an open floor plan, but still cozy enough to enjoy the table conversation. Overall, this is a great place to go in Wesley Chapel for some really good Italian food. Will be going back many times.
google avatar

Renelle W.

Yelp
I'm not a lover of Italian cuisine but wow, Falabella might convert me. The atmosphere is casual chic. You can dine casually or can dine as a cute option for a date, with both outdoor and indoor seating. Now the food..wow wow wow! We were both happy with the choices were ordered. Both the short rib pasta and the stuffed shells were delicious. Hint: the short rib is better. I didn't need a magnifying glass to see the short rib! Yay! The portion sizes were decent as well...not large not too small. I'm curious to know if their cheesecake is made in-house. I guess I'll have to revisit to find out.
google avatar

Brandi W.

Yelp
I've heard good things about this place, so figured it was time to check it out. I liked that we were able to pick our own seating. We were helped pretty quickly for our orders. However, it did feel as though it took a bit too long for our items to actual be made and brought out. (Keep in mind it was not busy, as it was a Thursday at 6 pm). The red sangria was good and a very decent sized glass. My friend also enjoyed the Columbo drink. As for food, we ordered the ravioli flight for an appetizer. The cheese one was good, very classic. The short-rib one I wasn't thrilled with as I felt it could have been filled with more. But the lobster stuffed ravioli, let me tell you that I could have ate many of! And the sauce the ravioli was served in was so flavorful. We even asked for bread to spoon up all the extra sauce with. We were thinking with a good appetizer experience that our meals would mirror that as well, but it did not. I had the Frutti di Mare and it was okay but I thought there could be much more seasoning. It tasted more to me as just a spicy spaghetti with regular marinara sauce. My friend had the Chicken Piccata and she too felt it could have used some extra pizzazz.
google avatar

Yelp
I had been wanting to check this spot out since it opened and I finally got a chance to do so. Their menu is extensive with such a huge variety of dishes and drinks. I had been dying to try their gnocchi because I'm a sucker for anything with pesto, and just gnocchi in general. It was really great, but a little too salty. Putting some lemon on it did help tame the saltiness but nonetheless, it was still delicious. I also added chicken to it because it doesn't come with any protein and I was surprised when I saw $6 on the receipt, I just didn't expect it to be that much to add chicken to the dish. The garlic knot that came with the pasta was really good too! This place is well worth checking out if you're a fan of Italian food!
google avatar

Kristina S.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 2yrs and the food is always delicious. However my last two visits hasn't gone too well. The portion sizes have definitely been cut and the pasta was very undercooked to the point it was crunchy. On my last visit they gave me the wrong dish and when i bite into it the pasta was filled with pumpkin in which I am allergic to. The staff has always been professional and our waitress removed the dish from our bill and offered to make it correct but at this point I was ready to leave. Hate to say it but I doubt this will be my go to restaurant anymore. Sucks because it was always my first choice

Brian C.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere! Took my wife for her birthday dinner. Everything tasted fresh, and the craft cocktails were perfect! The service was great, even though they were a little busy. We didn't wait for anything and never had to find our server. The dining area is small and a little bit "intimate", so definitely make a reservation. We will absolutely be back!

Connie L.

Yelp
We tried for almost 3 years to find authentic Italian food. We found it. We shared a calamari which was cooked to perfection with great dipping sauces. Next was Frutta Di Mare that tasted like Italy and spicy the way I like it. My companion was given a complimentary glass of wine for her birthday and she had chicken parm which was delicious. I had affogato which you cannot find in many places. Of course it was too much to eat in one sitting so we took a lot home. I'll go back again and again.

Yelp
i ordered the lasagna and my friend got the chicken parm, we should've just made it at home. the price was insane for how bad the food is. had to go get pizza after. edit: this was roughly 2 weeks ago

Yelp
Celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday here. We couldn't have chosen a better Italian restaurant. Everything was delicious!
