"Falafel King’s building is small but impossible to miss, thanks to a beige pillar on top that serves as a beacon, pointing you toward excellent falafel and other quick eats. Sit at the single counter in front of the two-person team taking and preparing orders, and watch them shave off meat from the two vertical spits spinning shawarma behind the counter. The falafel sandwich is the most popular dish on the menu—at lunchtime it’s common to overhear multiple people ordering it. But don’t discount the juicy shawarma, and don’t forget to dress up your pita with the orange mayo-ish dip that reminds us of a yum yum sauce. " - juli horsford

Wow! I drive by this place often and my first experience was exceptional! LOVE the classical music. The food is fresh and very tasty. I had the combination shawarma plate. It was amazing! The menu is unique in combinations of middle eastern and Japanese. The service is fabulous. I will be back often. Thank you owners!!

Google
Falafel King is my go-to lunch spot in Emory Village! This small business has my highest recommendation. 😁 Very reasonable prices, quick service, and consistent quality. The spicy mayo sauce is unique, absolutely delicious, and I think it pairs well with the falafel and/or shawarma sandwiches.

Google
The falafel paired with the Japanese seaweed salad was a culinary revelation, an opened minded union of the Cental East and the Pacific Rim in my takeout bag. The gentle texture of the falafel complemented the refreshing taste of the seaweed salad, creating a new experience of flavors for my palate. What truly sets this dining experience apart is its commitment to affordability without compromising on quality. The prices remain accessible to all if not most, ensuring that everyone can partake in the culinary delights. In every aspect, from the swift and attentive service to the accommodating dishes, this restaurant embodies the essence of culinary convenience and affordability, making it an affordable vegan friendly dining experience.

I have been a loyal customer for almost ten years. Today I called in for a pickup. The lady didn’t ask for my phone number or name and told me it would be ready in 30 minutes. After 30 minutes when I arrived there, there is a 15 people line waiting to order. The lady was busy ordering food for others so I didn’t bother her. I approached another staff and told that staff that I have a pick up order. At this time, the lady who was ordering food started looking at me, pointing at the line and shouting “you have to wait!!!”. What I don’t get is: 1. What is the point of pickup if I have to get in line, wait and order my food? I understand the restaurant might be busy and can’t handle pick up orders, but wouldn’t it be nice to just tell me that you are not taking pickup orders? 2. What kind of manner is it to shout at customers whose intention is to just ask for the pickup order status. I was clearly not cutting the lane. Guess it is just funny to embarrass customers? Sad but I am not coming back again.

Google
I have heard of Falafel King for YEARS! Best Falafel in Atlanta, and so forth. I am sorry, I need someone to explain the criteria they used to come to this conclusion. The bread is great. The vegetables are fresh, but lacking in flavor. The falafel is moist and well cooked, but lacking in flavor, and the texture is curious. The only sauce served was yum-yum sauce. On a Falafel sandwich? I'm going to say it doesn't work. But that yum-yum sauce is good. Actually very good. The stuffed grape leaves are, of course canned. But a very good canned dolma. Service was very fast and courteous. Prices?reasonable. All in all, I am seriously let down.

Google
Very good 'Japanese' style ramen and fried Dumplings. Maybe more a Korean-style of these, though it's tasty, so not important. Yes, they have Mediterranean food, too. Easy access from Emory University and quick drive from the hospital.

Google
Falafel King continues to be a revelation. It's worth it alone for a the sauce, and it might not be the most authentic, but the falafels taste so good! The price creep, however, has been noted, and I do hope the prices fall back down eventually.

Google
Plate and sandwich are both rlly nice. Falafel is super cool and shawarma is also awesome(a little bit spicy but def good with the rice in plate), the rice is also great, rlly suit some Asian that miss rice haha

Yelp
I liked this place when I tried it for the first time this fall, but my recent visit was disappointing. The female cashier was clearly overwhelmed - handling orders, packing, and interacting with customers - and her frustration showed in her attitude toward both customers and colleagues. The shop was moderately busy when I ordered a shawarma sandwich and paid an extra $8 for hummus and seaweed as sides. After a long wait, I received only the sandwich, which I noticed once I drove back home. The cashier's unfriendly demeanor made me hesitant to go back and address the mistake, especially since I don't live nearby. The sandwich tasted mediocre compared to the first time I had it. With so many great shawarma restaurants in Atlanta offering better service, I won't be returning here.

Yelp
An institution. Great fast service. Perfect for lunch or snack. After some drinks, even better. It has been here forever. That should say something. Where else can you get a falafel and some Korean dumplings in the space? Perfect.

Shamie D.

Yelp
Fantastic plates, friendly service. I really enjoyed the seaweed salad, a good portion. Hummus was ok, bread fluffier than I'd expect!

Yelp
falafel king is an absolute staple of a restaurant. a trip to atlanta is not complete without making a stop here for a quick meal. their prices are absolutely fair, and the quality of the food is truly spectacular and consistent each time. the family that owns this place is very kind and so diligent with preparing your food. my absolute favorite is the chicken shawarma sandwich, which comes with tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, and a side of spicy mayo sauce (which is absolutely necessary to complete this already tasty sandwich). ringing up at around $8.50 after tax, you're not gonna find a better meal nearby. as an emory alumna, I am so sad to have graduated and won't have the chance to stop by at this small shop anymore. will miss this place!

Paige R.

Yelp
Amazing pita sandwich!! Get the mixed (falafel and shawarma), out of this world! Pretty long line is typical for this tiny shop.

Yelp
A strong 4 for this Mediterranean dive just off the Emory campus. Expect a line, it's a small joint with few interior seats and a few outdoor tables. It's 95% takeout which works perfectly for its base. I went twice on consecutive days with friends. It was overrun by students who adore them. Fast service at a fair price and it helps to have a delicious product which I can vouch for. I had the shawarma both times with their only desert baklava. I also added dumplings. The counter service is fast! So be ready to order and step aside once complete. It's kinda like a Seinfeld episode of the Soup Nazi if you've seen. Any regulars will get it. The whole operation appears to be family run by Asians. The food was delicious! Most rave about their in-house sauce which is on the hot side in my opinion. Unfortunately no option for tzatziki sauce which I would have preferred. Wow on the dumplings. The baklava.is not in house but respectable and I enjoyed. Do not miss this college dive. Not gourmet, just solid Mediterranean fare at a reasonable price point. Parking is behind the building.

Yelp
Fusion is not something that is often executed well in many places. This one is an exception! Japanese twist on a Falafel sandwich? The food is fresh! Shawarma well seasoned but not overwhelming and falafel simply taste great! It's a quick bite off Emory campus and a little gem in a sea of corporate fast food. Highly recommended and try the Baklava (bonus points for not being overly sweet).

Marni M.

Yelp
My classmates are regulars here for lunch so I have been admiring their little falafel & chicken sandwiches for quite some time. Finally making my way over to the area, I made my way here and order the same sandwiches. They fry the falafels fresh and top it off with fresh tomatoes and lettuce. My favorite though is their golden spicy mayo looking sauce which they sell! I cannot wait to come back especially as they were super sweet and fast with service. Its a small space but still has a few tables and seats (both inside and outside). Love, love, love this place!

Julia G.

Yelp
Falafel King is my favorite restaurant near Emory. I always get the Mixed sandwich with shawarma and falafel. The sauce is one of the best parts!! Very filling. Service is fast, food is fresh and affordable, and the staff is super friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Small parking lot. Walking distance to campus.

Pooja S.

Yelp
I love this place for an easy pick up when on the Emory campus! Conveniently located in Emory village, falafel king has great and affordable food just across the street from Emory. The workers here are really friendly, even when the restaurant is really busy, and they do a great job making sure that people are served in a timely manner. That being said, because of its popularity among college students it can take a long time to get food if you come during the lunch rush. There's also limited indoor seating, and a picnic table outside. It can be loud with a ton of people standing around, so it's much better for to go. The food itself is pretty good! They serve falafel, chicken shawarma, plus a spicy mayo which is a huge draw. They also have Asian cuisine. I've only ever had the dumplings (veggie only) and they're great.

Adam M.

Yelp
Okay. Stomach ache for sure. Had better fasts before. Coca Cola was nice and cold.

Angelica N.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me to this place a couple of months ago, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. We visited again today! The sandwich with the spicy mayo is a simple, but delicious meal that is actually quite filling. The pita bread contains shawarma and falafel, with cubes of tomato and cucumber. My boyfriend got the mixed plate, also with shawarma and falafel, with dumplings and hummus on the side. I would recommend if you are looking for a quick and inexpensive meal. The place is small, with limited seating. There's is limited parking as it shares a parking lot with other businesses. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick. I can't wait to visit again!

Diasia W.

Yelp
Falafel King is sooooo good! You have to give it a try. I always get the falafel sides and Shawarma wrap! Love it!

Mindy N.

Yelp
Falafel sandwich. So delicious. If you are in the area, it's definitely a must try. Close to my job and nice and clean.

Yelp
The not so hidden gem of the neighborhood and even perhaps the city. Every time I am in Atlanta, I make an effort to swing by and eat here. Food is truly good for the value of-- make sure you ask for extra sauce.

bob k.

Yelp
I haven't eaten here since 2020. Stayed away for COVID and then moved out of the area. Today I was near Decatur and decided to stop by. Food was still great. Best shawarma in the city. Perfect flavor and spice. The falafel was great too. Only downside was the prices have increased about $2 a sandwich. Used to be great at $6 and I recall when it was as low as $4. Nice people who run the place too. Hope it won't be another four years

Laura P.

Yelp
I was greeted by friendly staff, willing to fill up my water bottle which was nice. You order at the counter, it's pretty straightforward and swift. There's not a lot of seating outside but it's in the shade, there's also a bit of indoor seating as well. They played some instrumental jazz over the loud speaker which was nice and calming. Amongst a sea of chain joints, this one sticks out as unique and no frills, quality food. This place is happening with people coming and going to pick up orders definitely a local favorite. I got the falafel platter ((which comes with 7 falafel, a bed a bit of chopped lettuce tomato and cucumber, and a choice of two sides along with a nice soft warm pillowy pita bread, choice of two sides). I chose my 2 sides to be olives and stuffed grape leaves. Spicy mayo is definitely a must. I understand why the counter has a note saying people can only get one per order. It's incredible. The falafel is perfectly fried, and just a little oily. Not a fan of receiving my food on styrofoam.

Michael W.

Yelp
This place has been here about 16 years and I drive by a lot but have never stopped. I tried a few times but parking can be tight as the lot is shared with other business. It is a small place and a 2 person operation. I ordered the falafel plate. The plate is about $4 more than just the pita with filling. That was a mistake! The plate includes two sides. I chose hummus and seaweed salad. They put it inside a styrofoam container and then inside a plastic bag so I cant see it and they are busy and often have a line of Emory folks so I take it and sit inside and eat it there. When I open it there is no seaweed salad, they put 2 very small Greek dolmades which tasted canned. The hummus was the worst ever in my life. No spice, no nothing. It seemed to be just blended chick peas with nothing else in them. No salt, spices, garlic, paprika, ZILCH. Like baby food! Yes I could have gone over and told them but they have a line of folks on their lunch hour and I hate to interrupt a line trying to eat and hold up everyone else. The meat was rather dry and cut with an electric knife in small pieces. It looks like a lot more than it is as they place lettuce in the container first and then put the meat where it covers the lettuce. The couple who run the place are NOT middle eastern. I generally turn around whenever I see someone selling ethnic food who isnt that ethnicity. I paid the price for not sticking to this rule. The only decent food item was the pita bread they use. It was different than any I have seen. It was soft like bread, not the usual pita at all. It wasnt dry and was actually good. It was clearly purchased- not made there.

Yelp
A must have when you're in Emory Village! The service is quick and the food is well priced! (There's usually sushi on the menu, but they don't have any at the moment). I ordered a falafel sandwich which was the perfect size for me! It came with their signature red spicy sauce which was SO delish. Everything was super fresh and warm. I also got a side of hummus and pita which was super tasty. Would recommend this place to anyone who's in the area :) There is no in-door dining, but they do have a few tables outside where people can sit.

Isabel W.

Yelp
Located in Emory Village, it's a short walk from campus and offers some of the best falafel I've had! I think the most interesting thing about this place is that it usually also offers sushi. We ordered pick up and were greeted by a sweet Asian couple who had our food ready to go! I ordered the mixed sandwich which comes with both chicken shawarma and falafel. It also has this spicy Mayo type of sauce that comes with it that definitely has a kick but pairs so well with the sandwich. The chicken was moist and the falafel was crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The sandwich was packed to the brim and I literally only had that with no sides and I was perfectly content. My dinner was literally only $7!! If you're looking for an affordable and delicious option during the day definitely stop by. I highly recommend!

Alex h.

Yelp
The service was fast , food was great , and the diner was very clean and the price is very reasonable. I ordered the falafel platter which came with two sides . Of which , I ordered the dumpling and hummus . The fried dumpling was delicious and it was not over cooked like most places tend to do . The hummus is Fresh and delicious and the pita bread was freshly toasted and had a nice crunchy bit on the outside and soft and warm inside . Overall , if your looking for a quick lunch with delicious food for a cheap price . This is your spot.

Yelp
I have been eating falafels since childhood. It was just apart of my upbringing. This place...Literally theee worst falafel I've had in life. Dry, no flavor at all. The falafel balls were even bland with no flavor. The tahini sauce was so watered down it also had no flavor. Only toppings were lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and that flavorless watery tahini. Maybe this place is rated 4 stars because of other things on the menu. Their falafels are not it! And have the nerve to call themselves "falafel king" be real. If you want a real one, go to AGORA CAFE!

Nicola L.

Yelp
Ok, I can say I've done it. I've ordered from the notorious falafel king. Was it everything I expected? Very seldom, does anything meet my high expectations. Parking: extremely, extremely limited. Entry access is tricky. Right at a roundabout near Emory university. So Pat attention as your dealing w odd traffic and delivery trucks and randomness. Inside: let's face it this spot is tiny. Several bistro tables, that are very close to the counter. On the menu there is sushi, and Mediterranean food. There is so much congestion in front and confusion behind the counter. I stood there for quite sometime and others received before me. I don't know the challenge of falafel vs shaving meat off a stick. But this street food took a long time. Food: ordered the falafel plate. It's served on a bed of lettuce, tomato and cucumbers. It comes with two sides, and a pita bread. I chose the dumpling (supposedly no meat) and broccoli and beans. Now they stressed the dumpling had no meat. There was definitely meat in there, and I feel like it was pork. Tsk tsk. And here's the kicker the falafel didn't come w tzatziki sauce. I feel like that's a major offense. Taste: falafels were freakin awesome. Crunchy and flavorful. Best I've had in Atlanta. Overall: so even though I had some real tricky obstacle course driving to get there, and had to make sure I was good to be in close proximity w people ( no b.o.) and good support shoes to wait so long. The food was tasty. So eh, I'd eat there again, just not in a rush.

Yelp
If I'd gone to Emory for undergrad, I probably would've been at Falafel King a LOT. It's a very affordable family-owned shop that offers an eclectic selection of food. I've wanted to try it out for a while, but they randomly closed for a summer break for a few weeks and it wasn't clear from their voicemail greeting or the various internet sites (yelp, google, etc) when they'd be reopening. We just managed to get lucky and catch them after reopening while we were in the area. It's a small spot right by Emory campus, and finding a parking spot can be confusing. The lot in the CVS on the same block seems to be fair game. They seem to do mostly takeout, but they also have a small amount of seating both inside and outside. The folks who run the shop are super friendly. They offer an interesting mix of Middle Eastern and Japanese food. On the MidEast side, they've got falafel, shawarma, dolmas, etc. On the Japanese side there's ramen, udon, and sides like seaweed salad. I had the falafel sandwich and ramen, while my dinner buddy had the falafel plate with hummus and dolmas (stuffed grape leaves). I agree that the falafel is really good. Super crispy on the outside, soft and well-flavored on the inside. The pita is super soft! However, the falafel sandwich is pretty basic. The only other items in the sandwich are chopped up lettuce/tomato/cucumber. They do have a sauce, that seems like spicy mayo but more runny, that you can add to the sandwich, but since they didn't give us any initially, I didn't realize that was part of the game until halfway through. But there are no herbs, tzatziki, or olives, so without the sauce it really is quite bare bones. Thankfully we ate there so I got on the sauce train halfway through, and the sauce is good, but it's not really within the flavor profile I typically want in my falafel sandwiches. The ramen is not like ramen you will get at a dedicated ramen restaurant. It is basically spicy instant ramen with extra vegetables added. I'm not mad at that at all...spicy instant ramen is one of my favorite comfort foods. And they do give you a pretty hefty bowl. I personally was pleased with it, because again, I love spicy instant ramen. But if you're expecting "ramen restaurant" level of ramen, you will be sad. All of their menu items are very reasonably priced. My total for my two items was probably around $11, and I was pretty full. They definitely offer a great value here. My overall impression is that of the various options we have near Emory campus, this is definitely one of the best ones. The food is a great value, they're family-owned, with simple well-made dishes that would probably be less likely to pack on the freshman 15 than some of its neighbors. Do I consider this one of the best falafel sandwiches or ramen I've had? No. But if I were a college student living on or near campus, I would absolutely be here a couple times a month.

Yelp
Many a scholar have aspired to explain the human condition and the choices we face. The road not taken by Robert frost and Thoreau's years at Walden come to mind. While two roads may diverge in a yellow woods sometimes it is simply more apt to take the Emory roadabout that leads you to Falafel King. The burgeoning campus next door always needs a go to food spot to provide the necessary glucose to get the Krebs cycle going, and power the debate about the existential crisis. The vibe is hip, it is bustling with a line and I see math problems being solved on the table nearby that go beyond my intellectual capabilities. The menu is focused on Mediterranean falafels and shawarma. Though there is the interesting ramen, udon, and other Asian cuisine offerings to choose from. I went with the ramen and falafel Sanga (ignore my Australian slang). The ramen is 10/10 given the price of the dish and the quantity. I think for ramen it is a more than solid ramen offering and the spicy flavor adds a bit of a kick that leaves you wanting more. I think to compare this to a full service ramen shop would be remiss, but for a hot spicy soup to warm your soul it is perfect. Then the falafel sandwich. Oh the crunchy perfect falafel that inspired the name with moist veggies and sauce. It truly is the king. They had an orange mayo/siracha? Sauce on the side that was perfect to dip it in and tantalized the taste buds further. Overall I would 100% come back. The culture and the mom and pop atmosphere is well cultivated and the food provides the perfect foreground. Would be happy to have any philosophical conversation over some great food :). #Morethansolid

Yelp
Th best hole-in-the wall place in Emory Village by far. Note: try going during their off-hours if you don't want to wait because it gets fairly crowded during lunch time and the restaurant is pretty small. I always get the falafel sandwich combo with a side of hummus (the hummus is great here!!) and dumplings (always crispy) and it's enough to fill you up for dinner. The owners are so sweet here and the food comes out fairly quickly even when they are busy. I usually take the food to-go though because the restaurant is pretty small and it gets kind of squishy dining in when they are busy. I haven't tried much of anything else on their menu because I love the falafel sandwich too much.

Emily G.

Yelp
This is the definitely go-to place for a lunch at Emory. Probably the cheapest prices (even including on campus dining) you can find "on campus". The falafel sandwich is only $5.35 (that's with tax, it's listed as $4.99) and it's so worth it. Personally as a small asian girl it suffices but if you have a large appetite they serve an array of sides like dumplings, miso soup, and others you can order. You can add shawarma to the falafel pita pocket as well for a small additional price to get that meat protein. The spicy sauce that goes with it is amazing. The couple that runs the place is very efficient and knows what they're doing. This isn't a good place to have a big party or a long sit down due to lack of space, so have somewhere in mind to bring your lunch elsewhere to eat. Eating here never fails to make my stomach satisfied!!! (as well as my wallet!)

April C.

Yelp
Falafel is so good and refreshing. So well spiced. Fills you up... for only $6?? Sauce is delightful and spicy. Music is unmatched and makes dining such a moment. Baklava is so amazing!

Ethan S.

Yelp
A low key place with excellent falafel. They are super crispy with a soft and chewy inside and just feel... right. The dipping sauce is great as well. The plate comes with a small salad and two sides. You can't really go wrong coming here. It's a little confusing that they also supposedly have sushi but I didn't see it on the menu when I walked in. Service is quick and the couple that runs it are friendly.

Evan M.

Yelp
I have been going here for 10+ years. Even after I moved out of state, falafel king always seemed to be calling me back everytime I visited Georgia. A quaint small mom and pops fusion restaurant of the Mediterranean and Japanese cuisines. Can't ask for more If you're a first time goer, try their schwarma or falafel sandwich, you won't be disappointed.

Brooke H.

Yelp
This place gives me such a euphoric feeling after eating. I get the shawarma and falafel mixed sandwich and the spicy sauce that comes with it. I usually get a side of pita bread and hummus, as well. They've got to be blessing the ingredients before they cook and use them. I feel so well fed like the Falafel King's grandmother took care of and fed me herself. The falafel smacks EVERY TIME. The hummus is so refreshing to eat. Everything brings me into a proper spiritual alignment the moment I finish my food. As I crumple my sandwich wrapper and throw it away, a permanent smile rests on my face for the remainder of the day. Never been inside though, shout-out to my coworker! (Don't have a picture 'cause I ate it all)

Tony C.

Yelp
Have always loved this place. Mostly excellent food today. Setting: super cramped space. If you come for lunch or dinner, you should expect to take it to-go. But whether you're stuck in line waiting for your food or you've managed to squeeze into a seat, you get a really home-y but urban feel. Food: you can never go wrong with the shawarma sandwich. Unless you're a vegetarian and decided to get the falafel sandwich, or you're feeling adventurous and want to get the mixed sandwich (shawarma + falafel), you'd be doing yourself a disservice-- if not committing a sin-- to not try this entree, especially if it's your first time here. It's heaven gently packed into a filling pocket pita. Don't forget to throw the spicy sauce on top. I occasionally go for the sushi. This time I had a couple of nigiri. The tuna nigiri didn't taste too fresh. However, the salmon was very rich, and was a bright and stark contrast to the tuna piece. [I have tried the crunch roll in the past, and it is nothing special in particular, especially compared to their pocket pita sandwiches.] Today's mixed sandwich and salmon got 5 stars, the tuna, maybe 3.5. Service: when it's crowded, it can be very slow, but it is so worth the wait. Just don't come starving if you're not patient. It's a small staff, but they're very friendly. And they get the order done. Cost: the most budget friendly place in a three-mile radius, I guess.

Helene S.

Yelp
Falafel? Sushi? Or Both? Unique Korean owned sushi, shawarma and falafel hot spot near Emory University. Busy, but worth the wait. Pitas are stuffed with hummus ($3.99), falafel ($4.99) or shawarma (5.99). Ask for the spicy sauce to drizzle on your pita.

Yvonne W.

Yelp
Located in Decatur next to Emory, this place has the best falafels ever!!!! The outside is so crunchy with strong spices and the inside is juicy + the best dipping sauce that we couldn't get enough of. Limited parking on the sides and back so go on a weekday when it's less busy. They have a table outside which was open when we were there even while the line inside was constantly flowing. It's more of a spot to take to go. Would definitely come back!!!

Kelsea L.

Yelp
Great little family owned restaurant to try if you like middle eastern food! They had to close down for a while at the beginning of COVID19, but have now been open with a limited menu. They do not have any sushi products as they can't maintain a consistent delivery but their shawarma and falafels are as good as ever. Yummy and healthy option for sure. They are not allowing dine in but there is one table outside if you'd like to eat there. Their food travels well though so no issue taking it home.

Joseph L.

Yelp
This place is tight. Love this place soooo much. You can't find a better falafel sandwich anywhere. Their sauce is to die for. My friends and I literally cried as we ate the sandwich. I would highly recommend getting the mixed sandwich. For 6$ you can get basically their whole falafel menu into one. Very filling and again the Sauce is to die for. Friendly staff and excellent positive vibes. One suggestion is to get more of that sauce. It's a spicy chipotle mayo but better and so much more. I recommend coming in fye af for this unique place. Also this restaurant is small so seating may be an issue but it's ok. You have all of Emory University as your venue.

Franco C.

Yelp
Great chicken shawarma, the falafel was decent, a little overcooked, so they were hard. But it was a good meal. The portion was generous.

Lydia J.

Yelp
I love this place so much. This is probably one of the only reasons I'd like to live near Emory! Their chicken shawarma sandwich and their mixed plate (which includes chicken shawarma, falafel, and 2 sides) is ridiculously good. I might even call it my comfort food. The actual store is tiny and doesn't have much seating so you'll see most people taking their food to-go. There's some seats outside. But with the weather getting real hot, I definitely recommend taking your food somewhere else to eat. The prices are so good to the your wallet. Very affordable, especially for struggling students. It means a lot to us, really. The owners are Korean and very sweet. They are hardworking people that make some dang good food so I definitely recommend giving them your business!

Yelp
This is an unassuming Japanese place that happens to sell middle eastern food. I only had the middle eastern food and it was absolutely fantastic! The pita is so fluffy and they pack the sandwiches with so much meat and vegetables. The falafels are delicious and the spicy mayo sauce is surprisingly good! It tastes like the spicy mayo that they serve at a lot of sushi places. Plus, the sandwiches are only $6! Delicious and cheap!

Yelp
Very small place that has a hole-in-the-wall feel. Came for the much celebrated mixed sandwich and it was fine but not as a good as I hoped for the price. But a very affordable price at $6 so great for college students. Mixed sandwich - 3/5. Falafel gets totally lost by the chicken. There's a lot of texture but the flavor is subtle until you add the house sauce, which has a little kick. The veggies are all stacked on top so it is hard to eat it such that they're still around when you get to the second layer of the pita. Good amount of food for $6.

Yelp
I'll never understand the popularity of this place. Could be the location? College kids don't know any better I guess and they'll eat anything cause they can't cook. First off, the combo of falafel and sushi is just ungodly. Like, why?? Second, the falafel here is burnt and tastes like cardboard and putting sweet Asian sauces on it isn't gonna cover that up, but make it ten times worse. And who even came up with that terrible idea? If sushi is what you know to do then maybe stick to that and leave the falafel to the Arabs. The nerve of calling this place Falafel King lmao. Absolutely offensive.

Yelp
Just okay. The location is obviously very popular with college students as it is quick and relatively inexpensive. The falafel sandwich comes with cucumbers, lettuce, and tomatoes. The falafel itself was flavorful but also a little greasy. The sandwich is extremely dry as they don't put any hummus or tahini in the actual sandwich. Order comes with some sort of spicy Mayo sauce which I guess people just douse the sandwich with. Overall, I don't think I would return unless in the area. Could be improved by adding hummus or tahini in the actual sandwich.

Yelp
So...I'm torn here. My boyfriend and I came here after the gym to grab a shawarma sandwich. He's never had shawarma before so I was excited to have him try "the best in Atlanta" according to several reviews. Unfortunately, this sandwich was completely underwhelming. When we got there, the steak shawarma wasn't cooked so we had to get chicken. The sandwich itself was FINE. The meat was well seasoned and the pita was fresh, soft and fluffy. But the sandwich was COMPLETELY dry. I would maybe give this place another try but honestly I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. Extremely underwhelming.

Yelp
This place is out of this world. I frequently come here to get their baklava, and let me tell you, it is some of the best and most authentic I've ever had. I grew up eating baklava, falafel, and shawarma with my family, and this place hits the mark. It's a small place that's easy to overlook, but, man oh man, the flavors are mighty. All hail Falafel King.

Yelp
What a little gem! While the wife was having surgery at Emory I decided to go for a walk to find something to eat (wasn't allowed to be in the hospital) I came across this little shack that advertised an array of middle eastern food (and some Chinese?). Interesting. Due to the decent reviews I decided to give it a try. So glad I did. Courteous service, outside seating, reasonable prices and delicious food! I ate a chicken shawarma and an order of fried dumplings. The shawarma was huge and stuffed with chicken and veges. The dumplings were ok, probably would not order them again. But I would order that shawarma every week if I lived closer! It is fabulous!

Yelp
This place is really good. I love their spicy mayonnaise on my falafel sandwich and their prices are very affordable.

Yelp
I'm not sure there's a single Emory student that doesn't have an innate loyalty to Falafel King. What an amazing hole-in-the wall with affordable, delicious, and freshly made food. The falafel here is my favorite! It's super crunchy on the outside, and not too dense or dry on the inside. The pita is pillowy and the perfect vessel for holding all that delicious spicy mayo. This unconventional restaurant serves falafel and gyro sandwiches alongside sushi. You can even order a falafel sushi roll! It's definitely a tiny restaurant in the middle of Emory Village, but they work fast and you can easily take the food to go. Overall, this is a must if you're in the Emory area.

Yelp
I'd had this place bookmarked for the longest time - mostly b/c I was intrigued that they serve both Middle Eastern food AND sushi, they're owned by Koreans, the great reviews, their loyal following, and I love falafels. So apparently the Korean couple - very nice by the way - learned to cook Middle Eastern food from the previous owner. You can pretty much tell from the outside that the place is divey, and there's only a few tables plus a counter for seating. Take-out orders is probably common. Based on a friend's recommendation, i got the "Mixed" pita sandwich which is a combo of chicken shawarma and falafel. Sandwich alone is $5.95, and $8.95 if you want the plate + 2 sides (e.g., hummus, couscous, veggies, seaweed salad, edaname). I decided to get just the sandwich. Falafels are cooked-to-order so be ready for a wait. When my food arrived, the pita was fully stuffed and I loved the crunchy texture in each bite. Oh, and don't forget to add the spicy aioli sauce which adds a nice zing to make your sandwich more complete :) The falafels were very good - the only disappointing part was I felt like I got several of the outside crispy parts of the chicken instead of the inside meat. On the plus side - it did add to the crunchy texture :) Overall 3.5 stars - for the food, for being "different", and for being reasonably priced. I'd read good things about the sushi so I might try that next time. But I'd definitely recommend either the Mixed or the Falafel sandwich. FYI - they're closed on Sundays. Also, there's plenty more parking in the back next to CVS ... our cars were still there several hours later so I assume it's ok to park there :)
