"Now open on Notre-Dame in the heart of Lachine, Falafel St. Jacques has expanded from its original Ville‑St‑Pierre location into a larger corner space with more seating and a summer terrasse. The restaurant opened in 2016 and rapidly became a west-side destination; it is owned by Israeli Ronan Baruch, with Saleh Seh, a Palestinian, as its main manager. The Notre‑Dame outpost sticks to the original’s vegetarian street-food formula — falafels made to order for crispness, fresh pita, and hummus with house-made tahini — and also serves a notable counter-service shawarma. The menu is entirely vegetarian, with shish taouk and other meat-style options made from shiitake mushrooms that draw praise for their taste and meat-like texture. The new location adds a bakery producing Jewish and Middle Eastern goods like rugelach, babka and a halva croissant, plus baguettes, international breads and regular croissants, and offers other items such as a sabich (eggplant sandwich) and a range of Mediterranean salads from tabouleh to an eggplant‑tahini option. Absolutely loved this bakery! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made, you’d never guess it was vegan unless you were told. The pastries were perfectly balanced (not too sweet), and the variety was impressive. The staff were incredibly friendly, patient, and happy to explain ingredients or make recommendations, which made the experience even better. You can really tell they care about both the food and the customers. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone! The vegan ones are super delicious too! The lady was very friendly and welcoming.

Falafel St Jacques is an absolute gem! The food is incredibly tasty, with every bite bursting with flavor. The falafel, freshly fried to perfectionl, is light, crunchy on the outside, and soft inside. What makes the experience even better is Mekonen’s warm and friendly welcome. He makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. Delicious food and genuine hospitality — highly recommended!

Went there after reading the most amazing reviews only to be dissapointed again .... The place is ok, has a variety of items and lots of salads and platters to chose from but it was not that great. The food was Meh! (personally i dont like my food in a mash up as seen in the latest pics) We had a falafel platter, tawook sandwich 👎 and a shawarma platter and weirdly the salads and accompagnements were all on top of each other mixing the flavours and rendering it hard to really separate the tastes ... And the eggplants were burned ....🤐 Also to mention , the last video posted of the sandwich making was so awesome but unfortunately far from truth. While serving our food , no gloves were used, same tongs between the toppings and the sandwich wasnt that great....) Also the place could really use some cleaning up.... A real bummer that it didnt live up to my expectations .... And to note that we ate inside, no platting or table setting was done (just saying 🤔)

I have heard about the Falafel St-Jacques for quite a while but never had the chance to try it out. All vegetarian? not usually my thing but wow. I am going to be honest, it is pretty good. yummm After that i went two more times. They have all kinds of vegetables sides, cucumber salads, beets, mushrooms, coleslaw, guacamole, coucous, quinoa, eggplants, tofu, choux de bruxelles, corn salad, and you name it! They all tasted good really What I love about it, they give a pretty generous portion, too much that you can’t even finish the whole plate, I always bring the second half the next day for lunch they have plates or sandwiches, decent prices, they will also ask if you want hot sauce on top or on the side, a must-try if you are a spice addict just like me! Nicely decorated, great ambiance, clean, great friendly staff, good service .parking on the street but easy, not too busy If you have thought of trying this place, i strongly suggest it. i regret not trying it earlier!

What an awesome discovery! The shawarma, shishtaouk and general tao were delicious. I was so happily surprised to learn that all of it is vegetarian :o They even have various goods like cookies, cakes and other specialties. Highly recommend.
