"The Tribeca Juice Press smells like falafel, but no, the smoothie makers haven’t mastered the art of mashing and frying chickpeas. It’s just also home to Falafel Tanami, the second location of an Israeli restaurant in Midwood that's cranking out some very showy falafel. The balls are crispy-crunchy and dark brown on the outside, with a soft interior that's almost fully green from all the herbs mixed in. Get it wrapped in a spongy pita for $11, or for something even more substantial, try it in laffa for $15. We wouldn't recommend sitting at the few tables unless you're okay with smelling like freshly fried falafel for at least a week, so plan on taking your order to go. And if you need a green smoothie to wash it all down, well, you know where to go. Food Rundown Falafel Falafel Tanami does falafel, and they do it very well. You can get it in a pita, a laffa, a salad, or a plate, and all the options come with your choice of pickles, Israeli salad, hummus, cabbage, and tahini. You should get it all. And if you like spice, try the thick, chili-forward Spicy Sauce, and be prepared to sweat just a little." - Willa Moore

This place only opened a few weeks ago and it’s their second location after their original Flatbush location in Brooklyn. This restaurant is certified Kosher by the OU and is closed on Shabbos. I think a first for the area it’s in, not much Kosher around otherwise. The falafel was delicious and one of the best I’ve had in NYC. Friendly service, decent prices.

Google
I liked the eggplant dishes (fried eggplant and Baba Tanami) the most. Also the complimentary pickles and pickled eggplant were a nice touch. I didn't like the falafel as much as some people do, but I think i generally have a hard time distinguishing excellent falafel from pretty good falafel.

Google
This beautiful new location with plenty of comfortable seating and the modern restaurant look did not lose its OG Brooklyn awesome flavor! A must try if you're able to come by...

Google
Their posted hours are a complete fiction. I've attempted to go three times, all during their posted opening hours, and twice they've been closed, once for a Jewish holiday and once the doors were locked at 8pm despite a 9pm posted closing time. The one time I successfully went, the food was good, but a restaurant that doesn't bother updating their posted hours is wasting your time.

Google
So excited that they finally opened Tanami in Manhattan! It was voted the best falafel in NYC, so I was dying to try it, but had no desire to cart myself out to Ocean ave. It lived up to the hype: delicious, huge portions, tons of toppings, amazing sauces. Loved the people behind the counter also, super nice. Overall lives up to the hype.

Google
DELICIOUS! This is the best Falafel in the city! I'm so glad they've branched out from Bklyn! The food is great, huge portions, the service is quick even when there is a big line, the people are friendly and helpful, and I love that I can grab a Juice Press smoothie in the front! PS: Try the spicy mango sauce!

Google
I gave this a shot not expecting much after some plans fell through- honestly I don’t get too excited about falafels, and I was a little biased bc it’s located inside a juice press which feels odd…. but this was a stellar falafel experience!! I had one of those life changing lunches where I experienced the true potential of falafel- the seasoning goes hard- plus they have this big bucket of the falafel batter next to the fryer- so each falafel is fried to order; they were so delightfully crispy!! The garlic sauce also slaps- it’s like a purple toum, not creamy just insane zippy raw garlic flavor, the alium of the gods!! Bummed that I don’t live closer to have the pita weekly, bc you also feel pretty healthy and nourished after the meal

Google
The food is okay but the experience is very bad. The list price is $2 less than what he was trying to charge me and he told me that’s my problem. Ask for large size’s portion on the limited menu the answer is that they don’t have it. If only one will look pass all those for love of the food…

Yelp
Falafel Tanami's original outpost in Haredi South Brooklyn has gained a bit of a cult following, and so it's not too surprising that they recently opened up an outpost in Manhattan. Although I'm not sure who in Corporate decided that their inaugural Manhattan location would be co-located with a Juice Press on a random TriBeCa corner... The falafels themselves are definitely among the best in Manhattan. I would rank the flavor and texture below Zyara in Astoria and Al-Basha in Paterson, but well above Taim or Mamoun's. I did find it to be a bit of an odd stylistic choice that pieces of raw onion were mixed into the hummus. The hot sauce also lacked any kick - the best topping was the garlic sauce, which has triple the intensity of toum.

Yelp
Amazing authentic spot. Food is amazing. Great value too since you effectively get 2 plates. Shares a space with Juice Press so just something to be aware of. On point. Also a legendary spot from Brooklyn so exciting that they're in NYC. Shoutout !

Yelp
Fabulous falafel. I've been to Mid-wood a few times & feel comfortable saying it's the best falafel in NYC. The store shares a space with a juice bar. I got a lunch special for just under $12 &!it was perfection. Falafel is incredibly flavorful plus hummus & cabbage & don't miss the eggplant & there's a pickle bar & those added flavor.

Yelp
Definitely lives up to the hype. Pitas are fluffy, falafels are flavorful, and the veg/pickles add the perfect balance. Ratios were all spot on. There is a decent sized area with counter seats along the window once you go past the Juice Press. Line up to order first, then hand your ticket to get your food. Service is pretty fast but during lunch rush be ready to wait a bit and the line can get slightly chaotic.

Yelp
As fantastic as it is in Brooklyn! The falafel is phenomenal, fresh , not too oily and always with either fresh pita or laffa. The only issue - IT'S FAR !!!! Why the non soul hood Tribeca????

Michael C.

Yelp
Likely the best falafel in New York, and I don't say that lightly. Perfect crisp, lovely crumbly/smooth balance inside (not too crumbly, not too smooth, perfect). It was herbacious, pita soaked in tahini/amba OOOF. Perfect bite. They ran out of laffas, so I couldn't get the laffa, which was ultimately the only negative mark, but pound for pound it doesn't get much better. Also unlimited pickles/hot pepper... come here

Yelp
Unbeatable Falafel and Hummus! I'm so happy they opened this restaurant in the area. The falafel here is exceptional - crispy on the outside, tender and packed with flavor on the inside. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and put a lot of love into making it. I also tried their Hummus, and it's hands down some of the BEST I've had in the city. If you're a fan of falafel and hummus, it doesn't get better than this.

Yelp
why was the plate overpriced af at $20. idk so I got the full pita which was like $12 but oh well. i didn't want to be out in the wild by myself at 9pm so i took my food and rode the bus back and then showered and then ate it. it was cold so i warmed it up in the microwave for two minutes till it was smoking hot but it was still really good omg. honestly overpriced but it was really good. there was someone in the lounge so i ate in my room and now my room smells like falafel. i need to try my halal cart outside of columbia bruh. yk what's funny. before i ate this, i got a text from my friend asking if i wanted to get wingstop and i said yes even though i already had a dinner. bro im so big backed

Yelp
I'm beyond excited to learn that Falafel Tanami is finally opening in Manhattan! They are known for their freshly fried Israeli falafel, but I'm more endeared to their smooth hummus and fresh baked laffa and pita. It's a family business and Pete Wells added it to his 100 Best Restaurants in NYC list in 2023 and 2024, but who cares what he thinks as the constant regulars to their Brooklyn location speaks for itself. They are replacing Juice Press' space, yet the menu still has JP's name. FT, which is kosher, offers several platter options with falafel or sabich (fried eggplant) and a create your own menu. Prices are reasonable (platters all under $20) and definitely a welcoming fast casual restaurant to commit to on a weekly basis.

Yelp
Falafel Tanami is a phenomenal place to eat. Some of the best falafel I have ever had. I came here for lunch. The ambiance was low-key and chill. The service was top-notch with very kind and accommodating staff. The food was fresh, delicious, and high quality. I recommend falafel pita sandwich.

Yelp
When I got there, it looks like the owners were leaving on a catering job I ordered a falafel. I asked the clerk if he can give me freshly fried falafel he fried some, but he gave me the ones that were Pita was broken and dry falafel was cold by far the worst falafel I've had in New York

Karen W.

Yelp
This is my new go to place for lunch. I work two blocks away and discovered it last week. It has incredible falafel. I tried the falafel salad and eggplant. I am now addicted. Loving it.

Brett P.

Yelp
Best falafel I've ever had - and the owners and people who work there couldn't be friendlier. Awesome addition to Tribeca
