"Falastin, Duluth’s “unapologetically Palestinian” pop-up, has opened as a permanent cafe and deli in the former New London Café space. Menu specials change often, so keep an eye on Instagram for the latest details — but expect dishes like musakhan (chicken smothered in caramelized onions), date-stuffed ma’amoul, kofta platters, and fragrant rose-pistachio baklava. For now, Falastin is only open Friday and Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m." - Justine Jones, Alex Lodner

"Falastin Duluth, founded by Lyla Abukhodair, Ann Abukhodair, and Sam Miller, will open a Palestinian cafe, bakery, deli, and market in the former New London Café space on Superior Street later this spring. The venue will offer hot foods like falafel and fresh soup daily, a grab-and-go deli with items such as tabouli, hummus, olives, and fresh cheeses. The bakery will produce manoushe, basbousa, and rose-pistachio baklava. A market section will stock Palestinian groceries." - Justine Jones

"Falastin Duluth is a pop-up initiative started by Lyla Abukhodair, her mother Ann Abukhodair, and her husband Samuel Miller. They offer Palestinian dishes like musakhan, kofta platters, and rose-pistachio baklava. The venture aims to bring authentic Palestinian food to Duluth, educate diners about Palestinian culture, and raise awareness about the occupation in Palestine. Plans are underway to open a brick-and-mortar deli and market to provide more Palestinian dishes and ingredients." - Macy-Chau Tran

My friend and I stopped in here today as we had our eye on this place since they opened. We were excited to see a little diversity added to the food scene up here since it usually requires a trip down to the cities to experience more ethnic foods. The restaurant was decorated modestly and had a pleasant atmosphere. We both ordered the Falastin Platter and tried a piece of their Baklawa. The platter is a great way to try a bunch of different things and enjoy a healthy meal too! The falafel had a nice kick to it and paired well with the humus and other pickled veggies. I have seen some folks say the falafel is spicy, but I am not a huge spice person and found it to be fairly tolerable. The housemade pita was also excellent. As for the baklawa, we have both had a lot of baklava in our lifetime but this version was definitely something new to us. The filling had a more earthy taste but it paired well with the sugary syrup that lightly coated the phyllo. I would say it had a pretty good balance in terms of sweetness and flavor plus it was still a little bit warm from being baked that morning. The prices were a tad high but overall we were fairly pleased with the meal. They have started to add some meat dishes to the weekday menu which is a plus as this was previously limited to the weekend. We figured as they continue to grow, they will probably experiment more with new offerings and expand the menu a bit too! Their hours of operation are also quite slim so I would say get here early if you would like to dine in or take it to go.

Had a delightful time eating the flavorful Palestinian food at Falastin. I got the platter with falafel, hummus, and pickled veggies. Really impressed by the crispness of the pickled veggies and the crunch of the falafel. Definitely will be returning to support this quality food and cause. 10/10 would recommend!

I’ve been thinking about this food every day since I had it!! It’s that good! The people working the counter were so friendly and patient, and really seemed to enjoy being there. I also cannot recommend the pistachio cupcakes enough!!

Falastin has such an inviting atmosphere, and the staff are very friendly. Be prepared for a wait to order, but the falafel sandwich is well worth it! If you want to order the extra pita go early; they gave me one of the last ones at 12:15 pm. *Edited to add, this pita is one of the best I’ve ever eaten!

Duluth is truly lucky to have a spot like this. Hands down, the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Everything tastes fresh and made in-house, from the sauces to the condiments. The bread is just right, and the seasoning brought back the comfort of homemade meals. This place is a must-visit.

I 💖💖💖 Falastin!! I've been here at least three times now and everything I've ever ordered here has been fantastic. RED SHUTTA IS KING. The service is wonderful, the falafel is delicious, and the vibes are off the charts. To those commenting on the prices, I would say that I'd rather pay a premium and know that the workers are taken care of rather than get cheap prices at the expense of others. As for the critiques about limited hours, the business is new and they must be reasonable with their time invested and labor costs. In short, I believe the hype is worth it!

It was incredibly busy today but staff did a fantastic job at keeping the line moving. They happening to be offering samples of the bi Jibna Manoushe, which made my husband's choice for him! No one in line seemed grumpy about the wait and after trying the food I feel like I can see why. The food is worth the wait. I came in knowing I wanted to try the falafel sandwich and it was even better than I have words for. I also was excited about the drink choices and really enjoy the sumac lemonade.

I really wish I had taken some photos of what we ate. The food was so delicious. We had a falafel sandwich which was loaded with chicken, lots of veggies and the best sauce. I can't remember the name of the other item we ordered, but it looked like a pizza, but it tasted even better. The only thing I would suggest is to get more tables for those that want to eat in.

Yelp
Wonderful food here, my husband picks it up almost every week but today he's not well so I picked it up and everybody was so wonderful and helpful... I do use a cane and there are stairs at the front door, but it occurs to me now looking at the outside that maybe there's a second door that doesn't have stairs. Regardless, the staff were so helpful and carried everything to my car for me because of course I use a cane and it's hard to carry stuff. I love this food so much. It's such good food and the people are just as wonderful as the food!
