We had a healthy stroll from the Tokyo Westin to Restaurant Falo, and once we arrived, our assigned seats at the humongous bar were pointed out to us. Falo has a unique decor, kinda like you're dining in a cave. I can't say if I liked it or not. It was different, and that's cool. We sat down and realized our seats were the last two unoccupied. Falo is very popular with the young and hip. We're not young or hip. My spouse and I do not speak Japanese, and the menu was difficult to navigate, but we managed. The food was a fusion of Italian and Japanese with a little creative license thrown in. Most dishes were cooked on the charcoal grill, the centerpiece of this underground den. The food tasted pretty good, but there is no way I can describe what we ate. The photos will have to suffice.
The servers and cooks are on display in the center of the bar, and Falo has a frenetic pace. No one has time to converse with you. I'm a gabber, and so I missed that. Most people will enjoy Falo. The dishes were tasty. For us, it was a bit too trendy, and the pace did not allow for relaxation. Yet, what do I know? I'm 75 and ready to be put out to pasture.
