Falsled Kro

"This charming whitewashed, thatched inn will draw you in with its enticing fireplace and lovely conservatory dining room overlooking the garden. Three set menus feature accomplished, classically based dishes with bold flavours and modern touches. Watch the chefs preparing the good quality, largely local produce in the open kitchen while you wait." - Michelin Inspector

It's difficult to book this property if you don't speak Danish. You can't tell from the photos which room you have booked. If you happen to be someone who gets up in the night, you might like to check whether the bedroom is on the same level as the bathroom.||Cakes are served in the afternoon, but it isn't clear as to whether they are complementary or extra. You may think you have booked an a la carte menu for dinner, and that's what is stated on your reservation, but they may not serve a la carte when you get there. Be prepared for a very fussy, precious multi-course dinner. If staying two nights, you might wish to drive 1/2 hour into town for dinner.

It is tough to start and as well to make others understand why a hotel gets a certain rating. For me food is important as well as wine and I enjoy good service. Of course a location is the frame work to all this. When it comes to Falsled Kro the historical buildings and the beautiful garden is setting the right tone for sure but so far this is something a hotel owner can buy if there is enough money. The staff on the other hand is the link between good products, great food and wine and the surrounding the guests are in. To make it short I can’t remember the last time where everyone from the reception to the waiters to the chefs ( who you finally see at the table during service) were so welcoming, professional and well trained with the passion for what they are doing. It is enough said about the menu and rooms already, but the staff working there is the real beauty of this place.

Falsled Kro is world famous in Denmark for its fantastic setting, fantastic food and nice atmosphere. The first restaurant that served real French food in DK, I guess. Just informing that they have never had, and do not currently have a Michelin star (but of course they would like to…)|We spent one overnight stay, and we started with the cake table in the cozy inn room. The cakes are good, but beware - they are quite heavy, too. |We had some small delicacies waiting for us in the room - some fresh and dried fruit, some delicious ham, a small bottle of champagne. Unfortunately, the servings were for two people, but we were three? We considered complaining, but didn’t want to seem unsatisfied, so we just shared. |We had a reservation for the Finnish hot tub, and it was great fun and nice to sit outside in the warm water. If you got cold, there was a very nice sauna to get you warm again. Actually, I though the water in the Finnish tub was not warm enough; but it was a very cold day. I would recommend to keep it at a higher temperature, though. It was really lukewarm.|The dinner was lovely, very well prepared food served by good waiters. However, it didn’t hit the roof for me. For example, the desert that looks like an apple 🍏 was very sweet and soft textured, and without contrast, maybe lacked some acidity - my family basically did not like it. I had cheeses from the impressive cheese table - there was so much to choose from that it was nearly too overwhelming.|If you are not too tired, it is nice to sit in the inn room by the open fire after dinner. |Breakfast the next morning was good and well prepared, but again lacked the final touch to make it 5 TripAdvisor stars for me. So I remain a 4⭐️ for Falsled Kro, and I will certainly never be a regular.

This was a splurge on our road trip around Denmark. The property is absolutely beautiful - every flower is perfect and the gardens are extraordinary. The room was very, very charming. You feel like you are staying in a fairy tale cottage. The service was also very, very good. It was extremely expensive, but all was very nice.||The only "downside" was the breakfast. It is a very formal, set menu affair with no choices. That wasn't the best for us as a family - not great for children. Also, it was exactly the same for both mornings of our stay - no variety. I would have preferred either more choices or a buffet.

We visited the hotel as a part of the falsled kro signature stay. ||Very professional staff, great atmosphere and lovely rooms. The minibar had a great sortiment, |great welcoming snacks with dried fruit, cured meat and house champagne |Morning breakfast was lovely and refreshing- not to much and not to little! ||We are definitely coming back

Excellent service, and absolute top quality food. The stay is a bit on the pricey side, but I have to admit, the atmosphere is simply so relaxing, warm and welcoming. The food you will have here, will make you want for nothing. Pair it with nice wines and you sleep very comfortably!

Not a 5* experience in the least! Was most looking forward to this stay as part of a 2 week trip around the country and it was the biggest letdown. Our garden room was infested with spiders. Cobwebs behind every painting. We had to call housekeeping on entry and while they were lovely, they swatted a couple around but we squashed 20-30 over the course of one overnight stay. My poor wife is a huge arachnophobe and could barely sleep. Spiders in every corner, behind radiators, in the toilet paper roll! What a nightmare. |Room was hot and stuffy despite a fan. Windows open but no screen and tons of mosquitoes outside. Shower drain so strange, floor is sloped so that the whole bathroom gets soaked with every shower. |The welcome cakes should have been a warning sign. We were the first to arrive to the room where no staff were visible. Just a table of sweets. After about 5min, started to reach for plates to help ourselves. When a female waitress came out and asked us to ‘put the plates back’ as they would help us. Bit rude considering no one was anywhere to be found! Then the male waiter came and asked what we would like from the stand to which we replied we’d like to try a bit of everything to share. And he responded with “oh you must be hungry! Under his breath and not at all pleasantly. Several other couples arrived later on and, with no staff to be found, also helped themselves. |Our 4 course dinner was fine. Small portions but seemed to drag on forever. Other tables around us had many more courses and finished on similar timeline to us. |All in all, very disappointing for the price.

Wonderful wonderful experience! Extremely charming and welcoming. The staff and servers at dinner and when we arrived to check in were friendly and attentive. The room was lovely and the food was divine. Can absolutely recommend! |The only two downsides- the atrium where we all had dinner (no music and the lighting was a bit harsh - not as cosy as in the inn) and the check out (the lady on staff was not very friendly or engaging - which was a total opposite from the day before group on staff). All in all a very good experience certainly!
