Every Notable 24 Hour Restaurant in Montreal, Mapped | Eater Montreal
"Another vintage diner, this one boasting smoked meat, Fameux’s is conveniently located alongside much of the Mont-Royal and St-Denis nightlife. Its menu leans somewhat towards the breakfast side of things, serving a diversity of egg dishes, hearty breakfast sandwiches, crepes, and pancakes make this a good pit stop on late nights that become early mornings. Note: open 24 hours on Thursday to Saturday nights only; Fameux closes at 3:30 a.m. other nights." - Audrey Carleton
The lady waiter was very unpleasant. She was very rude when I changed my seat before even ordering to sit by the window even though 80% of the restaurant was empty. She also kept insisting on speaking to me in French when she’s fluent in English even though I had made it clear multiple times that I don’t know French.
I asked for my Rib Steak medium but got it very well done (see picture). It was very chewy and plain. The only good thing was the gravy sauce that came with it and the salad.

Went there the first time for a brunch and the experience was truly surprising!
First, this place is easily accessible as it is conveniently located near Mont Royal Metro station.
There’s a breakfast/brunch menu that was only available and you have coffee included with all its items.
The food was very tasty and I enjoyed drinking my coffee while watching the busy Mont Royal Avenue during a weekend morning.
The staff is very nice too and made sure we have everything we need for an excellent experience.
Would definitely visit again 👍

This is probably one of my favourite places in Montreal. Best smoked meat, great poutine (do try their italian poutine it’s amazing) and a great place to have a classic good old club sandwich for a ok-by-today’s-standards price. They are also my favourite place to order in Pizza; much better than all the American chains. Also their greek is great! Its a great place to go to if not everyone is feeling like the same thing because they giant menu will have something for everyone. Also a great selection of desserts!
Service is always efficient, polite and the vibe is that of a classic good old dinner.

This restaurant is the perfect Dinner experience.
It's not going to be a culinary experience, it's very plain and average food in a casual restaurant, and it delivers exactly what it promises. You will not be impressed nor disappointed.
The menu is big, food is priced fairly and service is quick and friendly. I even got the middle-aged server with a raspy voice who has been there for decades.

I've had many decent meals here but the last time was a bust. What they call lasagna was a dish of soggy noodles floating in watery tomato juice. I picked the tiny bit of au gratin cheese off the top of it because I was hungry, but I couldn't stomach the rest. The waitress saw I had pushed my plate away and asked why. I said it was inedible. Rather than offer me something else or find another solution, she proceeded to argue with me and walked off. I should have walked out of the restaurant. But I
went to pay and discovered the manager was aware that I hadn't eaten my meal. He took $5 off the price instead of writing it off. Other restaurants would have offered a voucher for a free meal in the future. I went home and made myself a meal.

Plateau institution. One of the last classic diners still around. Huge menu, everything is pretty decent. Sonia the waitress is a delight every time
