I came here recently for a friend's birthday. The entrance to Fam-Fam is located on the Wood Street side of the complex with Octane Grant Park. The doors aren't open until 9 pm though, so if you're early, you can always just grab a drink at Octane next door.
The space itself is pretty interesting. When you walk in, there is a shipping container bar directly to your right. There are also co-working spaces to the left and even at 9 pm on a Saturday, there were people working away, so we felt a little odd that we were going to be screaming away in private room karaoke while others were still being busy worker bees. There's an Instagram-worthy wall too, with purple lights and a trippy design.
Fam-Fam has a small selection of sake, beer, and liquor. When I went, I wasn't drinking due to a massive hangover and asked for Sprite, but they only had three types of Coca-Cola on hand (that's Atlanta for ya). I ended up getting a glass of soda water with a lime instead, and was charged $4 (yikes). You're better off just drinking alcohol or sticking to tap water here. There are also rotating pop-ups here once in a while for food, but when we went, there was not a pop-up. We were told that we could get food delivered to Fam-Fam, which is pretty cool, so I suggest calling and finding out what the pop-up situation is before you go.
The karaoke rooms themselves are office spaces turned karaoke rooms. Benches line the perimeter and there are cushions for overflow. My group had 13 people and only a few of us had to sit on the ground. Although we were worried that we would hear singing coming from other rooms since it's technically work space, there were no problems with this. The karaoke machines were kind of finnicky though since some songs played on lags and the controller would repeat songs even though we didn't add them twice. The song selection is a-ok too, although all the most current songs aren't available. But the best karaoke songs are sing-alongs, though, so the best songs are older anyways, right?
For $8 per person per hour, this was a pretty fun night. I would definitely come back again, but I would drink beer and order pizza to our room to make the experience all the better. If you haven't tried private room karaoke before, you really have no excuse now since the location is so convenient. Sure, there's no room service and you have to go to the bar to get drinks, but this is in-town, private room karaoke. Go!
