Where to Drink Coffee in Northampton, Massachusetts | Eater Boston
"Located in a historic train-car structure, this carefully curated cafe uses salvaged wood paneling from a local paper mill and focuses on light and medium roast drip, pour-overs, and espresso sourced from Counter Culture (currently featuring a Peruvian single-origin); the layout encourages outdoor dining along the Northampton Rail Trail when weather permits, the city’s seasonal street closures allow expanded seating, and operations have emphasized takeout and outdoor service during pandemic-related indoor closures." - Aaron Kagan
Absolutely wonderful place! The building is charming, the staff very pleasant and efficient, the sandwiches were very fresh and delicious (I highly recommend The Beet), and the coffee was EXCELLENT. Cannot wait to visit again on my next trip.

Super cute coffee shop with a wide variety of coffees, and sweet and savory breakfast treats. Minus a point for my lukewarm latte (I asked for extra hot) and a hair in my bagel. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

THIS PLACE ROCKS! I paid $16 for this bagel sandwich and it is 3” tall! very tall. thats about $5 per inch. pretty good! the service was fast fast fast. i had barely sat down before my food was ready. i ran into many people from my life here. serious community vibes. everyone is cute and well dressed. i cant afford a drink but maybe next time! my friend got a PSL and i was jealous cuz it looked sooooo good.
edit: i got the turkey avacado sandwich on sesame bagel. the honey mustard is SO GOOD.

Familiars is a beloved local café housed in an iconic red diner car, which has been a part of Northampton’s history for over 90 years. They offer great coffees, teas, and delicious sandwiches. A perfect blend of local charm and history!

This place is great to visit during the warmer months with the beautiful outdoor seating area. Ordering feels a little clunky at times. The drinks are unique and largely great most of the time and I really appreciate the toasts. My biggest complaint is that during the winter months, it's almost impossible to sit down to enjoy a quick breakfast as the whole space is usually taken over by laptop users. I've had to walk out twice so far and go elsewhere for a sit down meal.

Coffee is delicious and strong the way I like it.
I had avocado toast on whole wheat and it was delicious. Two slices.
And this was the winter so we sat inside and it was lovely. In fairer weather sitting outside is amazing also.

Such a cool spot with great sandwiches and coffee. We loved the BLT and chicken salad on sourdough. The sandwiches had fresh ingredients and were delicious. The iced pumpkin spice latte and green tea were refreshing and tasty. Friendly staff and great indoor/outdoor seating options. We loved all the plants too.
