"This lively, friendly eatery is divided into three parts: a bar with bench seating and an open kitchen; a bright red room with a characterful cellar and a glass wine cave; and a superb wrap-around terrace. The good value cooking is rich and hearty, with a touch of originality here and there. A relaxed atmosphere and an appealing wine, beer and cocktail list add to the experience." - Michelin Inspector

I recently had dinner at that restaurant where I had a very pleasant experience. The welcome was warm, and the service was both friendly and attentive, which made the evening enjoyable. The menu was well thought out, and the dishes were flavorful. As a starter, I had pan-seared scallop with roe, romanesco, and butter sauce. The flavors were well-balanced, and the cooking was perfectly done. For the main course, the grilled ling with cooked salsify was well-prepared and highlighted the quality of the ingredients. To finish on a sweet note, dessert was banana ice cream with chocolate mousse. It was a nice combination of flavors and textures. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal, with carefully prepared dishes and attentive service. A great place to try!

With a bill of 490sek per pax, it proved an economical choice. The ice cream dessert was the best I've ever tasted, Love the croquette. Areas for improvement: the artichoke mousse smell weird, the pork loin had a strong pork smell.

Dining at Restaurang Familjen feels like stepping into a cozy, stylish Nordic home, where the warmth of genuine hospitality meets the artistry of modern Swedish cuisine. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxed, perfect for those seeking a less formal yet thoughtfully crafted dining experience. Each dish is a masterclass in balancing traditional flavors with modern creativity. I started with the fried haddock, crisp and golden, perfectly complemented by a creamy dill sauce and earthy mushrooms—a delightful combination that felt comforting yet refined. The main course, grilled picanha, was tender and juicy, harmoniously paired with king oyster mushrooms, bringing a playful surf-and-turf vibe to the plate. What sets Familjen apart is its attention to detail, from the quality of ingredients to the presentation. It’s a place where you feel both at home and inspired by the culinary creativity. Overall rating: 8.8/10.

Great food with balanced flavor profile and depth. The addition of textures bring an additional layer of depth to the dish. The atmosphere was really cosy and it felt not too busy. The time between courses was on the longer side to what I was used to. We had the familjen menu for 2 with cider and a wine each. Total of 1900 incl tip. The starter was my highlight - a really great balance of flavor and texture with a sauce that is simply pristine. Overall a great experience and an awesome evening

Had a very enjoyable early dinner at Familjen recently on a day trip out to Gothenburg. We came before the usual dinner rush so service was even more personalized (thank you for the taste test of your new drink menu items). The Familjen Menu tasting course hit all the marks: interesting flavours and ingredients from local farms and fisheries. Their crispbread was quality and the opening lobster appetizer were excellent. An enjoyable night.

I really wanted to love this place, especially since it looks incredible on paper. Unfortunately, I took my partner here for his birthday, and it turned into a disappointment. It feels like a classic case of "we made it into the Michelin Guide, so now the customers will come no matter what." We ordered the set menu (Menu Familjen). The first course was decent, but it was all downhill from there. The beef in the main course was almost inedible—very stringy, fibrous and so tough that I had to spit some of it out. I'm not sure if this was due to poor cooking or just a cheap cut of meat. When I mentioned this to the waiter, she kindly offered to replace it, but since my partner's was equally bad, I declined. Given the long wait between courses, we didn't want to risk waiting any longer. Speaking of wait times, after the main course, we were asked if we wanted dessert—despite having prebooked a set menu that included it. I said that we had the set menu, however after waiting another 25 minutes with no dessert in sight, I asked for the bill and left. It's painfully obvious they are cutting corners, both on ingredients and staffing. The waitstaff was kind and did their best, but they were clearly understaffed, which resulted in long waits for everything. It’s rare for me to leave such a critical review, but this experience warrants it. Overall, a disappointing and somewhat embarrassing choice for a special occasion.

Heard this restaurant a couple of times from friends and now we tried it. Maybe my expectation was too high but I have had better steaks in the town. For sure the ingredients were fresh and with high quality. But considering the price you wouldn’t get exceptionally tasty food. But as it carries a Michelin recom I still think it’s worth the try.

Yelp
I'm not sure why the reviews for this restaurant are so good, perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. I got snow crab legs, and they were so salted that it was like crab legs you get at an all-you-can-eat buffet, where they provide low quality crab and salt it a ton so you have to drink water. My dish was about 480Kr, so not cheap. My husband and son's fish and chips looked much better, and at least those are supposed to be salted.

Yelp
If you're not familiar with the roads around here and you have to rely on Google maps... give enough time to get a bit lost going around in circles. Ok maybe its just me and my poor navigation skills. Was so cold and hungry by the time I arrived. I ordered the blåmusslorsoppa and a glass of Burgundy pinot noir. The waiter was friendly and warm, he could tell I was needing food so he quickly brought out the knäckbröd and bread platter with kycklingleverspastej which was so good! I would totally order this if it was offered on the menu as a förrätter I always like going to places where the food is good and the service friendly.

Yelp
Great value 3 course meal for 30EUR, the bar manager is the best i town and does divine drinks. I can really recommend you do try one cocktail as apertif. Its truly a Bib Gourmand place. If you like more upscale try Kock och Vin, gothenburgs best restaurant (run by the same Chef) I visit every time im back in gothenburg

Yelp
This review is for the bar section only, i never have had dinner here. They have a super nice outdoor section, not much to view as it is located in a street junction that isn't very busy. But I like the way it is built and furnished. There are tables of different sizes and not only a few large tables with lots of chairs as it is at most outdoor sections. Also it is not all-glassed which means it is airy but also impossible to seat closest to the street. We were lucky enough to get under roof just before a hard rain weather suddenly appeared. It was really nice sitting there watching the rain. The staff is super nice! Super! Unfortunately this isn't really the place if you are into good draught beer since they only have three different lagers on tap. If you are looking for ales there are bottles. I guess this is a place for wine and cocktails! They accept AMEX.

Yelp
Booked a table here after hearing a lot of good things about the place. Me, my gf and my parents, who visited us for the weekend, First of all, the restaurant is a hundred times cozier than it looks like on the pictures. I went with one of the set three course menus. Started off with the bleak roe which was beautifully accompanied by cauliflower, sour cream, fried potato, red onion and dill. Needless to say, it was great. It's hard not to succeed with bleek roe. For the main course I went with the saithe. And man, this was a dissapointment. The fish itself was great, but the rest of the dish was really nothing special. Turnip, celery, a tomato sauce and langoustines that they'd absolutely destroyed. They were just mash. I told the waiter about the over cooked langoustines and he offered us two desserts as compensation which we gladly accepted. The dessert was a rhubarb compote with merengue, oat crumble and a goats yoghurt sherbet. This was a great dish to finish of the meal. Fresh and beautifully composed.

Yelp
We were a group of people that had booked a table at Familjen a Saturday evening. We got there and there were no problem finding somewhere to put the stroller, or getting a high chair to the table. The food itself was very good, but not really "over the top". The soup was good, the main dish was good, and the dessert was good. The people working at Familjen was super friendly and super accommodating. I loved the fact that I could ask for something without getting the feeling that I was somehow bothering them (trust me, it has happened!). The bartender even approached our table to great my son, because he was missing his baby at home. ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- A lot of people has said they like their drinks, I never had the pleasure of tasting them but maybe next time when in Gothenburg - sans kids. Vi var ett gäng som hade bokat bord på Familjen en lördag kväll, när vi kom dit var det inga problem att få till en barnstol samt att ställa vagnen på en behändig (nödutgång??) plats. Maten var absolut jätte bra, men ingenting "over the top".

Yelp
Recommended by a local, it is a mid-to-up scale trendy bar restaurant with original handcrafted aromatic cocktails with great combinations and presentation. The complementary cheese dip and rye crackers are delicious, but the protein and side dish pairings are slightly behind their cocktails: braised beef cheek with beets or overpowering star anis with duck.

Yelp
Below expectations. We sat outside. It was nice warm day. As soon as it got chilly the heat lamps fired up. They had their act in order for their outside guests. Waitstaff was good. They were there when you needed them and did a good job explaining what your about to eat. Food was not my liking. Overpriced for what you receive. Understandably due to being in a high rent district, but I can't say I was thrilled with anything. I had the meat and cheese dish for the appetizer. A bowl of green pea soup. The steak. And some coffee ice cream cake concoction. I expected to at least to really rave about one dish given the high reviews, but unfortunately it didn't happen for me.

Yelp
Very frustrating. Table was fine. We are outside. Served drinks and bread quickly. Salad took about 30 minutes. Main took almost an hour longer. My partner ordered the vegetarian main and it was carrots and lettuce. My beef was very tough with no steak knife. Gave us free desserts because of the extraordinary delay, but after 3 hours, we just wanted to go home. Overpriced and not impressive food. Do not go here.

Yelp
One of the first places I ever got food poisoning at. Dreadful staff and for some reason I always get sticked at the hidden away tables. Makes me feel like an ogre.

Yelp
Like the advertising claims, it's a good place for a casual dinner. Not a huge menu but, then again you can only eat one starter, one main course, and one dessert anyways. I appreciated the local in-season produce, Had the caviar and deep-fried potato cake, the prime rib and the fruit/sorbet/créme brule dessert with some awesome wine pairings. Didn't need my knife for the beef as it just fell apart under the fork and melted into the anchovy laced gravy. Orgiastic! Extra points to the server for 1) pouring the preliminary wine for tasting for both my female colleague and my own (male) self (Yay, gender equality!) and for 2) deviating from the recommended wine pairing for the dessert to bring out a really different semi-sweet Chenin Blanc from the Loire region. Little bit of a gamble on that dessert wine but it really paid off. I'd definitely go back again. Partly to taste some of what I saw was on the wine list.
