Wow is all I can say. This place has remarkable food. So much so, I had a lot of things. Tacos birria, pollo, carne asada and a lot more. Everything was bursting with flavor. Even the deep fried food was cooked wonderfully. Not dripping in grease and again flavored perfectly. Fast and friendly service. They were genuinely happy to see me. If the greeting was any warmer, there would have been hugs. I felt like I've known them for years and family. I love that type of service. I got a bunch of pictures of different foods. I am sure you'll find many favorites.

Google
The food was sooooo good. It did take a while but when it came out it was delicious. We had the pazole which was super flavorful and huge and a pastor torta which was also huge and flavorful. Great prices and so good. Will come again if i ever come back to Nashville!!!

Google
Had an early dinner here this week with my daughter. The food was EXCELLENT! I have never had a handmade huarache and I cannot wait to go back and get another one! My daughter had beef tacos and loved them. The service was also top notch. Highly recommend!

Binh T.

Google
Very good tacos. Their birria is a must try! They’re literally flavor bombs. This place is a small business with very authentic Mexican food. Their decorations are nice, quick service, the front guy did messed up our order but it got fixed after that so all good! Definitely pay a visit when you’re in town

Google
Boss and I stopped in for lunch while we were in the area. He got a Torta Cubana and I got the Chicken Quesadilla lunch special. Lunch special was 10.99 with a drink. Comes with beans and rice, but I got without rice. My boss said his Torta had to have about a pound of meat and hasn't had anything like it in 20 years. I also loved my Quesadilla, very unique and DELICIOUS! This place needs to be full 24/7! Absolutelyamazing! !

Google
This food is fantastic! This is the most authentic Mexican food you will find in Tennessee. I am from Arizona, with Mexico being right next door I know ball. Seriously try it is so good!!!! I got 3 tacos, 2 burritos, chips and queso, and 2 drinks for under 50 dollars.

Google
Fresh. Authentic. Delicious. Affordable. I could go on and on. This place is the real deal. Amazing food and super friendly staff, with nice outdoor seating. Everything was great but the fried quesadilla was the absolute star of the meal. Family Tacos is an absolute gem and I wish them many years of success in Nashville.

Google
Getting there is kinda wild if you have to go against traffic, but its well worth it. We always get the Birria tacos for happy hour Tues - Thurs. The service is always amazing and it's very quick.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite taco shop in the greater Nashville area! Living in Nashville as a Chicagoan who lived in the Pilsen neighborhood for a time, my standards for tacos are HIGH. I had such a hard time finding a good go to in Nashville and I was so happy to stumble upon Family Tacos! It's a small front area but there's plenty of seating if you venture to the back. It's no frills, almost take out style, but they do bring out your order to your table so the service is really awesome. There are no bad menu items here but man their tacos are incredible. I like the birria but the steak are great as well!

Yelp
Just Eh. First off, the girl got my order wrong so maybe it would be have been different if she wouldn't have? But I will say after bringing my tacos back to my office the tacos were just "Eh." Nothing to write home about but not bad, per say. Just not good. I definitely wouldn't go again. I am a big salsa fan and I'm pretty sure I got siracha and yum yum sauce (seriously, southern people?). That's not Mexican food. I should have taken a hint from the menu when it had "chips and queso" but chips and salsa. I asked for shrimp tacos with onions and cilantro and two asada tacos... they all came bare. That was a bummer. But also, the asada cuts were pretty decent but not a lot of flavor and the shrimp was pretty much the same. Especially for the price. 18 bucks for 4 tacos?!I had high hopes coming from the West Coast looking for legit Mexican spots. It's possible this place has been catering to the southern taste buds too long... Not sure. But this is not good Mexican food.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me this long to come to this place! Some of the best tacos ever!! Very affordable and just amazing food and service! Y'all go Check them out!!

Yelp
This was an amazing taco shop about a year ago, but over the last year it has slowly gotten worse and worse. The staff used to be good but now the men that run the cash register are so slow and very rude to you. The food itself was really good about a year ago, burritos and tacos used to be big and juicy. but the last 4 or 5 months the quality has gone straight down and now the meat taste cheap like it is glued together, and has a weird aftertaste like aluminum metal. I took my wife here to eat a few weeks ago and she even complained and said the food was horrible and the staff was so lazy! Avoid this place in 2025 - 2026 until new management and better quality of ingredients is used. You can literally get the same quality at bar taco which is a high quality taco shop, for about the same price. Super overpriced and not worth it.

Yelp
One of my favorite lunch spots. The tacos are good, although I do wish the fish/shrimp had more seasoning. The lunch special is a great deal because you can get 2 tacos and rice and beans for under $13. The horchata is also amazing! The people working there are very warm and welcoming I also love they have a little patio area in the front to eat at. Although off a busy section on Charlotte avenue, parking is fairly easy and right out front.

Vanessa D.

Yelp
1st time here...the carne asada tacos are delicious, large and plentiful. Green salsa was not too hot which I prefer and the guacamole is authentic. Will be coming back to try more of the menu.

Yelp
I have some things to say about this place so I need to gather my thoughts. Upon first impression, this was not what I expected it to be. It seems like it was a good truck with a patio from the outside but upon going inside, I could see there was another area indoors that was not as well decorated as the outside patio. I had heard lots of good reviews from my friends and relatives. But as we all know... first impressions can be deceiving. I was able to place my order within a few minutes of going through the door. It did take a bit longer than expected to get my order. But once I did receive it, a couple of things were missing. Some of my food as well as some of the toppings. I mentioned this to the person at the front and they took back my food. I waited for another couple of minutes before they returned with my food. I went home to eat without reopening my food but thankfully it was all there that time. Here's where my not so great experience turned around. The flavor was much better than expected and to my surprise, my family enjoyed the meal much more than what I anticipated after my initial impression. Although I was not a fan of the chips or the queso, the actual tacos made up for the rest of the meal. Would go back.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic! These are some of the best birria tacos that I've had in Nashville. The queso with chorizo is also super scrumptious. My husband is always trying different tacos on their menu, but I just stick with the birria tacos because they're so good! The horchata here is also amazing. I'm super picky with horchata because my mom makes it at home all the time, but the one here is almost just as great! Definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered delivery, got 3 birria tacos and horchata. The tacos tasted pretty good. Nice and juicy, good amount of cheese and onions. Tacos weren't as crispy as I would like, but I imagine they'd be better fresh. Loved that they gave me a bunch of limes! I had asked for no cilantro but there was cilantro. Could've been miscommunication from the delivery app to the business. Pretty good tacos tho, would definitely order again 4/5. The horchata was really tasty. You get a good amount. I think it should've had more cinnamon but that's me. Not too sweet. 3.5/5. Overall, I'd come back for sure! I'd like to go in person next time to get the full effect.

Yelp
I truly love finding a local hole in the wall restaurant wirh delicious food, but this fell short of my hopes. I ordered a quesadilla, which was super cheap, but it came out slimy, fried, and arguably not a quesadilla. The shell wasn't bad, but the chicken was stringy and tasted boiled with very little seasoning. It wasn't sealed like an empanada and it fell apart becoming very difficult to finish. My roommate used to bring home their queso, which I remembered fondly, but it wasn't as good as what she used to bring home. So either they changed the recipes or they had an off night. There was also a doorbell alarm going off every minute for the last 20 minutes we were there which got old pretty quickly.

Yelp
Food is really tasty - meets our California standards and then some. We had shrimp, birria, carnitas and al pastor and everybody was happy. Guacamole was good maybe a little over mixed which seems to be the style in the south. Service was fast and friendly and prices were reasonable. There are outdoor tables and tables as well as tables inside. It's a really good stop for lunch.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I actually give this place like a 2.2 I'm leaving one star so that we can try and adjust the FIVE STAR rating to something more realistic. I got so hyped when I saw the reviews. But I walk in to a slapped together establishment with no sense of direction when it comes to service. The girl at the counter was nice enough, but there was no direction on where to go or how to proceed with ordering seating, or any of the other things you would imagine would be normal for a restaurant. We ordered upstairs, next to the soda fountain. She asked what drinks we wanted, then told us to go sit downstairs. The. She brings us empty cups and says you can get your drinks back upstairs. What was the point of that? Why no just give us the cups while we were there? I figured if the decor is so random and the service was so confusing, the food must be amazing right? Nope, just random under seasoned mess for the most part. I had three tacos and my wife had a chicken burrito. The Pastor taco was good and the sauces were also good, but that's where it stops. The carnitas were the driest I've ever had in life. The burrito was mostly just beans with no sight of the chicken or other toppings. The fish taco was ok but it comes with fried fish instead of grilled which is weird. The rice was dried out and the beans were beyond flavorless. It's called salt guys. Bathrooms were very clean though. Someone told me the problem was I should've gotten the Birria tacos (I guess that's what there known for?). But if your restaurant stakes its name on ONE menu item, you're doing it wrong. Wasted lunch in Nashville. Don't buy the hype, this 5 star score was obviously purchased.

Yelp
We had a great time eating dinner at Family Tacos. Family Tacos serves Mexico City street food. There is a suprisingly attractive outside patio and food truck window at one end of the strip mall they are located in. However with the extreme heat we have been experieincing, there is an inside dining area which is just as attractive. The white walls are covered with sayings (who knew a tortilla has fewer calories than an apple) with a high ceiling and comfortable casual seating. They have put out some board games for those who want to sit an relax as well as eat. Our group tried the tacos, burritos and huaraches. It was my first time having a huarches which is a thicker tortilla topped with meat, beans and toppings. (Reminded me of a flat bread pizza). Huaraches are common in Mexicio City. Freshly prepared and if you review the pictures, you can see several different styles of food prep. No one complained and thoroughly enjoyed my huarache. For beverages, they had U.S. and Mexican sodas as well as horchatta and aqua fresca. Enjoy!

Yelp
Nice place , friendly owners, clean, and AMAZING tacos. I will be back very soon! The food was delicious and I definitely recommend the Birria tacos!
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
delicious! i got the carnitas burrito and it was so delicious. i will 100% be getting it again and i am going to come back to try the tacos for sure also you order inside and then you can sit inside or outside and they'll bring the food to you. lots of seating inside and out! parking: lots of parking, i also went when it wasn't busy but they have a gravel lot bathroom: i give it a 6.5/10 a very average and nice single bathroom!

Cassandra M.

Yelp
Food was delicious, we got a carnitas burrito and an asada torta, both were flavorful and authentic. Service was also amazing, they were very attentive and sweet! Great seating inside and clean!
google avatar

Aliya M.

Yelp
Very cute family atmosphere. There is a patio outside to sit, or an indoor seating area. The indoor seating is limited (only 8 tables) but it wasn't too busy when we went! Prices are very fair here and the waiters are super nice! I got chicken and barbacoa birria tacos. The barbacoa burrita was so good! I'd highly recommend that!

Josefa T.

Yelp
I ordered one birria taco, one carne asada taco and a jamaica drink. It was AMAZING! I would come back just for the Birria tacos. The jamaica was super refreshing. The staff were really nice and the restaurant was really clean. Definitely a great place to grab some great mexican food

Yelp
I stumbled across this location while out in Nashville. I always love a good taco stand. As far as location and cleanliness it hits all the marks. As far a flavor the chicken and fish taco was under seasoned. I have had many authentic tacos so it was okay. Nothing memorable for me to return. The service is quick and plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Try it out for yourself.
google avatar

Shakia C.

Yelp
I came here with a group and we were able to enjoy the patio area. I ordered a small guac and steak & chicken tacos. This hidden gem did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing. The steak tacos were my fav but the chicken came in at a close second. The food is flavorful and at very reasonable price. There's a small parking lot next to the restaurant and street parking nearby. The service was great. The food came out timely and everyone was able to enjoy their meal. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. I'm always happy to support a family owned business
google avatar

Candace L.

Yelp
I'm sure glad my cousin wanted tacos. I came to Yelp to find a great place to get tacos. We were close to centennial park. And I just look up restaurants that were near me. I found family tacos, which had excellent Yelp and google reviews. I arrived at the restaurant and parked right in front of the restaurant. I should mention that it's on a busy street and when you leave you may have trouble backing out if it's in rush hour. The also have an out door eating area. The customer service is great and the food is amazing. I had the carnitas and steak tacos. Wow! They were so good. The dining area was nice and clean. I would definitely recommend this spot, excellent customer service and excellent food.

Yelp
Great taco spot off Charlotte. Lots of outdoor seating and a large indoor area for dining. Variety of tacos, quesadillas and sides and lots of Mexican drinks and sodas. The staff was friendly, food came out quickly and was good. If you need a casual spot for tacos, this is your place. Lots of vegetarian options too.
google avatar

Chelsy M.

Yelp
Not authentic tacos at all. Won't be back. I got the carne asada and the meat was not seasoned well at all. Tacos were bland and elote tasted store brought.
google avatar

Christopher F.

Yelp
A coworker recommended this quaint Mexican spot, and let me tell you, it's a (semi) hidden gem on Charlotte Ave.! The al pastor taco was awesome - tender meat, nicely seasoned, and served with piece of pineapple, which is surprisingly hard to find. But the real star was the pozole; it was rich, hearty, and packed with authentic Mexican spices as well as generous amount of veggie toppings. The atmosphere may be low-key, but the taste is anything but. A must-try, especially for pozole (weekends only)!
google avatar

J H.

Yelp
Unfortunately service lately has been very slow. I hope they can fix it because it's a great place
google avatar

Josh O.

Yelp
Great place. My girlfriend and I love the tacos and Burritos here. The green sauce is amazing. I love the quesabirria and Carne asada tacos. My gf likes the veggie burrito. The Guacamole and chips are good too.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
At the time I'm leaving this review this place has a solid five stars and there's reason for that. The food is great and so is the service. On the wall inside it says attitude is everything and they definitely have the right attitude. So happy to have found another authentic taco restaurant in west nashville. It's a family owned restaurant that's always a plus in my book. The owner is really nice. While we were waiting once let us try some juice. The barbacoa tacos here are my favorite. The first time I discovered the place I drove past it twice. It's next to what looks like a garage on it's left side if youre driving up Charlotte away from downtown. It has a food truck in the front just so you know. There's gravel parking on the side.
google avatar

Anna G.

Yelp
This place is sooooo good!! Cute hole in the wall spot with amazing classic street tacos. The pastor may have been my favorite, and I thinks it's rare for any taco to beat carnitas. The birria was also a hit, as usual.
google avatar

Paul P.

Yelp
The huarache with al pastor was very tasty. They have paletas!!! Finally a place in Nash with paletas (popsicles) again.
google avatar

Chatika W.

Yelp
Service was great. Price is decent however unfortunately I don't understand the 5 stars. My refried beans taste was water down. The veggies in the Mexican rice were like overly dehydrated vegetables. I think it's more of a popular location. I'll stick with Las Palmas, Tequilas Restaurant ( maybe 1 mile down from FT) and the Taco Trucks. The steak taco meat seasoned well but veiny not ideal for tacos. Disappointed due to the 5 star reviews.
google avatar

Cory S.

Yelp
Best taco place in town! Queso is the best. Highly recommend anything from this place.
google avatar

Sherry Y.

Yelp
This is an honest-to-goodness, family-owned taco joint with both porch and indoor seating. We visited Family Tacos for their taco Tuesday discount special. There's additional parking in their private lot, so don't feel intimidated by how busy Charlotte Avenue gets around rush hour. Trust me, the tacos are worth the dinner rush home. At the counter, they will ask you if you want the taco Tuesday special or their regular tacos. This makes me think that, possibly, the amount of meat and filling might differ? Regardless, we got about 3-4 tacos a piece, and that was enough to satisfy two grown adults. I believe I had the carnitas and al pastor. We ate them extremely quickly, especially with their generous helping of lime wedges and house salsas. Given the awesome deal, I was surprised to see plenty of seats (and parking) available. You should definitely check out this tacqueria gem in West Nash.
google avatar

Tommy B.

Yelp
The family working at family tacos are amazing, sweet people. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was pretty good. I loved the Birria tacos. The chicken burrito was good and the fish taco was just ok in my opinion. Give them a shot!
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
This place is solid. It's one of my go-to lunch spots. The people who run it are so sweet. The food is amazing and cheap. The west side has been needing an authentic taco spot. Everything I have gotten from them has been on point. Check them out!
google avatar

Nino R.

Yelp
Slap city baby! The crispy quesadilla is life. It's a chalupa made to order! Can't be beat, especially when you can select one of a dozen meats to stuff it with. Tacos are enormous. Order two and call it a day. If you're starving you can handle 3. If you're a beast, then add a quesadilla. Birria - fire Pastor - fire Chorizo - fire Parking in the front and rear. Good for two or a group of friends. Indoor and outdoor dining options available. All cooking is done out of a little trailer. Feugs...
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
¡Delicioso! We will definitely be returning this Summer for their yummy take-out. I loved the guacamole.
google avatar

Karla A.

Yelp
So delicious! Staff is very friendly! Love the environment. I got the birria tacos and it didn't disappoint.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
Best kept secret in Nashville! This taco restaurant is a hidden gem tucked on Charlotte. You can eat outdoors or indoors, based on the weather. We ordered tacos, huaraches, and a quesadilla. All were gluten free because they were all on corn tortillas (even the quesadilla!). Flavor was packed into every dish, and the sauces were amazing too. We will be back very soon!
google avatar

Fifi L.

Yelp
Really tasty and the portions are great. They serve rojo pozole on Saturdays with all the fixings. The salsa is very spicy so make sure to taste it before putting on your food. The entrance is where the register is and it looks small but it's actually a very spacious restaurant. Outdoor seating available too.
google avatar

Yelp
We went to Family Tacos based on Yelp reviews. It was worth the 2+ mile walk from our hotel on a rainy day! I had the carne asada taco plate and my husband had a carne asada and el pastor taco plate. I had a super sized Mexican coke. It was really refreshing after that long walk in the rain! We ordered our food at the counter. The girl was so sweet and so accommodating! I wish I would have gotten her name. The kitchen is a taco truck parked outside the restaurant. We made our way to the dining room. The place is immaculate, and decorated so cute! Even the restroom was immaculate, and I've never included anything about a restroom in a Yelp review! While waiting for our order, we were brought a basket of tortilla chips and a generous cup of queso. I've never been served queso with my chips unless I paid for it, so it contributed to the five star review! I complimented the girl at the counter on the way out, and you know what she did? She asked us if we wanted a dessert on the house! What? Nobody does that, but she did! We thanked her and headed back to our hotel room, happily walking 2+ miles in the rain!

Laurie D.

Yelp
We had veggie tacos. The tacos had grilled mushrooms and peppers and onion with fresh tomato. They seasoned very well. The tortillas were very good. We also had guacamole and chips. The guacamole was delicious. The chips were unsalted . Prefer a little salt. all in all it was delicious. I would have liked to have been asked if I wanted cheese. Everything fresh and was made fast.
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
If you love taco trucks but don't love the idea of sitting in your car while shoveling in all that food, check out Family Taco. Their food truck is attached a building so you can dine inside or take your food to-go and enjoy the outdoors on one of their picnic tables. Fan fave: Birria Tacos!!
google avatar

Ashley Z.

Yelp
Delicious tacos and the fried quesadilla is not to be missed! It's a tiny but fun place and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Chan S.

Yelp
Very good. The ground beef burrito was seasoned nicely. I ordered the el pastor, shrimp, and the carne asada. The place was very clean. It was pretty expensive for a single taco. And their restaurant was hard to find. I missed it the first time. I had to turn around. Overall, it was a good experience and the food was tasty.
google avatar

Frank D.

Yelp
Small place easy to miss among the flashier and larger places nearby. The torta was just right and the tacos had the right amount of seasoning and meat. The price was reasonable and the food freshly made. Probably better to get "to go" than eat there if the weather isn't great, was a little cold to eat outside and the inside was pretty sparse. I would recommend.
google avatar

Be G.

Yelp
We were excited to try F.T., based on the reviews. But our first meal was... meh. We had an al-pastor huarache, a fish taco and a barbacoa taco. The latter was a bit dry, and the huarache didn't have a lot of flavor. Our favorite item was the guac, which was outstanding. They also charged our card twice, which I'm sure was an oversight. We'll try them again, in case this was just a bad night.
google avatar

Brad H.

Yelp
I was super impressed. I had one of their unique fried quesadillas. I added carnitas and it was flaky and cheesy and amazing. After I ordered, I found out they offer tamales on the weekends so I got a couple of those for later. One was pork and the other was jalapeño and cheese. I was shocked when I opened the box and they were wrapped in banana leaves. They were so delicious and totally legit. I'd highly recommend Family Taco.
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
My family recently moved out here as we call came from LA. Living in LA I'm familiar with Mexican food and how it should taste. Let me say, this place is definitely the best out of all the Mexican places I've tried so far. The people running this place are also extremely sweet and accommodating. If you are craving some good Mexican grub, try this place out before Oscars or one of those other mediocre Mexican chain restaurants.
google avatar

Greg K.

Yelp
Best Tacos in Nashville, hands down! If you want a one way ticket to flavor-town, this is your place. I got the pastor and it blew the doors off any pastor I had prior. The fish taco slaps so hard you need to sign a waiver before eating it, that's how good it is. Tacos: 16/15. The charros were one of the best tasting desserts I've ever had. 100/10.
