Family Style Fest Brings Some of LA’s Best Restaurants Together for One Day Only This Fall | Eater LA

"I’m planning to attend a heavily hyped food and culture festival that will bring some of the city’s best restaurants to LA State Historic Park on September 28 for a one-day affair; Family Style Fest was founded in 2019 by Ben Shenassafar and Bobby Kim of the streetwear company The Hundreds and event producer Miles Canares, and Complex acquired the festival in 2024 as part of a new project. The year’s lineup will feature over 30 restaurants (including a special appearance by New York’s Katz’s Delicatessen) and brands like Nike, Converse, and Kids of Immigrants; general admission is $40 and VIP runs $200, with the VIP ticket offering free food and drink from the VIP section, exclusive merchandise, and more." - Rebecca Roland

Family Style Festival Is Morphing Into an All-New Restaurant Website | Eater LA

"An annual Los Angeles food event founded in 2019 by Ben Shenassafar and Bobby Kim of the streetwear company the Hundreds, along with event producer Miles Canares, is being acquired by the digital media company Complex as part of a new venture that will include a food publication and events arm. The festival pairs local streetwear brands with popular chefs and restaurants — past mashups have included Russ & Daughters with the Hundreds, Uncle Paulie’s Deli with Modernica, and Burger She Wrote with Gallery Dept — and in its short tenure has drawn over 10,000 attendees annually who pay for admission as well as tastings, apparel, and merch. Complex and NTWRK CEO Aaron Levant hopes to parlay that success into a food and video publication called Family Style covering streetwear, food, and restaurants in Los Angeles, New York, and other cities; Shenassafar (who also hosts Big Appetite on the Tastemade network) plans to launch the publication after this year’s Family Style Festival and ComplexCon. The planned editorial slate will cover street food, taco stands, and chilaquiles and include collaborations with chefs like Jon Yao of Kato and Evan Funke of Felix, Funke, and Mother Wolf, while explicitly avoiding traditional restaurant reviews in favor of features about openings, where to eat, what to eat, and where to drink." - Matthew Kang

Absolutely LOVE this festival! The entry fee is completely worth it from start to finish. There’s live bands and great music playing throughout the event, tons of food and drinks, and so many fun things to do for people of all ages. The variety of vendors is incredible — so many different and amazing options, all showcasing unique flavors and creativity. Everything is well organized, lively, and such a great atmosphere for families, friends, and food lovers alike. This is hands-down one of those events you look forward to every year and always leave excited for the next one.

The staffing for the event was absolutely accommodating to the highest extent!! They exceeded our expectations everything was so delicious. Our only complaint was the vendor that goes by the name “heaven noodles” was not presented as such on their tent and did not honor our sampling package and even had an attitude with me when I presented my voucher. The sampling package is $122 per person which includes 12 FREE samples of their selection of vendors. When I presented the voucher to heaven noodles two of the workers/vendors stated that each voucher was equal to $5 to purchase from their menu. It was severely disappointing their cheapest item was $8. What happens to the other $2 remaining if we were to go that route? It’s supposed to be free samples not used as a cash balance. On top is that their tent has nothing that says heaven noodles I was only about to find it because it had the same logo on the voucher. Aside from that all other food and vendors were spectacular.

We go every year at least once as we have our favorite food truck vendors that we love to support. The line to get in is always long but I’m amazed at how quickly it moves and they get people in. It’s a two’fer as you get to try out some amazing eats and get your outlet mall shopping done at the same time with all the top tier stores like Coach, Gap, Under Armor etc. Comfy shoes are a MUST if you’re gonna go the distance and please take note of where you parked as it’s easy to get turned around especially if you’ve been circling looking for parking. Check out my video of the “live tree money grab.” So fun and quite entertaining while waiting on those long lines. Cheers to the next adventure 🥂

The $15 entrance fee is off putting. $60 for a family of 4 plus the cost of food. It is not a cheap night out. There was plenty of security and the entertainment was ok but not enough to warrant such steep entrance fee. Food on average is $20 per item. $16+ for drinks. Mostly a conglomerate of food trucks around the perimeter with other booth vendors laced through the middle. Seating was located all the way across the other end from the food vendors. That was stupid, they should have seating throughout. Otherwise like us you end up standing and eating everything. Not very accommodating. The food choices were varied but didn't seem so exotic or around the world tastes. The vendors we did choose to patronize were very good. Spent close to $100 for 2 people. If it weren't for such a beautiful evening and great weather, I'd be a little less complimentary. Not sure whether we would go again or just visit a favorite restaurant for the price.

I absolutely love this event. They have bands, live music, samples, amazing food vendors and things to do for entire families which makes the entry fee worth it! It is so fun to go with groups of friends or families so you can split items and take advantage of everything the festival has to offer. My favorite by far!

Overall people were great. But I think a purpose of a world festival is not be overpriced. This place think does better giving smaller portions and reducing prices under 10. I had to control more overall budget to places i might like rather than try new things. In the case a regular restaurant probably does better per our taste that day.

We had the absolute honor of being the official media sponsor for this year’s Famous Food Festival and WOW, what an experience! From the moment we stepped on-site, the entire team was welcoming, organized, and full of energy. The level of intention, creativity, and coordination behind the scenes was next level. Filming an event of this scale was no small task, but the vibe made it effortless. Every vendor, every performance, every detail was electric and it made our job as content creators an absolute dream. Huge shoutout to the entire Famous Food Festival team for trusting us to capture the magic. We can't wait for the next one! 🙌🎥🌍 — Grit & Grace Design Studio
