Google
This is our go-to place in the Lomita area for great Indian food! Been going here for years, and the standards have stayed high throughout, Casual but comfortable ambiance, warm friendly staff, and delicious home-style Indian food. Today, we dropped by for lunch, and had Chicken Keema with some garlic naan, and an order of Shami Kebabs (latter not on the menu, but they'll make special order). Oh, and the prices are reasonable, so if in the vicinity, pay Famous Tandoori a visit--you'll not regret it!

Whenever the owner is there the this place is super amazing. When the owner isn’t there, it’s a hit or miss if their staff will greet you with a friendly attitude or not. The food on the other hand does consistently tastes great. One of my favorites is the Plow, which is available only on Fridays. Basically it’s a mound of brown rice with a huge lamb shank. One of the best I’ve had!

Google
First time here got the lunch special for 12.99 . What a deal so much food and it is so good .

Google
Food is good here, the tikka masala is flavorful and probably some of the best I’ve tried anywhere. The chicken Sheekh kabab roll was so good and perfect for sharing since they cut it in half. The beef samosas with the mint chutney were also very good appetizers.

Google
Impressive place here in California, i was wondering what they have to offer and its really delicious. The service is the quickest I’ve seen in Indian restaurants, within 10 mins food was on the table, delicious selections, we ordered several plates to see what’s this place all about and it didn’t disappoint. I do recommend this place, plates are relatively inexpensive, $10 to $12 a plate, try the chicken 65, the portions really worth it. Head over there for yourself!

Google
This restaurant feels very local to SoCal upon entering. They serve halal indian and pakistani food. Chicken tikka massala was good, but I feel that it’s a bit too thick that it clumped into a cube when refrigerate. Indian curry I had was usually less thick than this. The palak paneer was good! I went in a summer month and mosquitoes were around. I got bitten a few spots.

Google
This place is small but very quick and good service. In 10-15 they served the food. Tea is free! Thats something I loved it. Chicken 65 is super delicious. Samosas for appitizer is must. Also aalo gobi is my favorite. We will definitely come back!

Google
We ordered from this restaurant for the first time today. We’ve been looking for a good Indian restaurant at a reasonable price. This is definitely the place to go and the food is excellent, with large portions. We highly recommend it if you like good Indian food.

Yelp
I'm on a hunt for my favorite Indian food since NatRaj (2nd St, LBC) closed. This place is my first try so it's in first place right now, Obviously. Tito likes it too, he's on this Indian restaurant journey with me. And that's all I'm telling you about Tito, for now.

Yelp
After urgent care, my hunny and I came here for dinner, and it was amazing. The portions were enough, and then some, I took mine home (cauliflower plate) because I wanted to enjoy it for lunch the next day, which, by the way, it was still great. My hunny really liked his plate, which was the beef Aaloo Gobi. To drink, the mango Lassi could have had more yogurt. The sweet Lassi was ok, my hunny was hoping for a unique flavor, but it didn't. The atmosphere was cool. It was cozy. Overall, I recommend this place.

Yelp
Parking here was very easy as they have a parking lot in the back or street parking if you prefer. The service is good. It's friendly and it's fast However, the very first thing that was off putting for me was the water. Their water taste like plastic, it was not good at all. The food was a good portion, it was a lot but underwhelming in flavor. I had lamb and I definitely have had better lamb than that but it was their version of lamb so I have to remember that but still underwhelming in flavor for me.

Yelp
This was my first time here and I don't think it will be my last. The food was delicious and the flavors were on point. Let's start with the "special chicken 65". Now when I have had chicken 65 in the past it's usually "dry" this came in a delicious and well spiced sauce and the chicken was super tender and juicy. Next up we had some of the chicken biryani and again, the flavor and spices were on point and the chicken was super tender and juicy. We also had some garlic naan and what I would say is the best tandoori chicken I have had. They prepare it over mesquite and the chicken had that rich wood cooked flavor that sets it apart. The one thing we had that was new and I would definitely go back for was the Halwa Puri. Now I have never had this before but I have a friend who lives in India who said I needed to try it and this was super good. I would even go back just for this. They only serve it on Sunday, definitely check it out! The staff were super friendly and the restaurant itself was nice in the inside with some tables to enjoy your meal.

Yelp
I hate to admit, but I haven't eaten much Indian cuisine yet and boy do I regret it. Famous Tandoori gave me a fabulous reminder as to what flavors I have been missing. It's located along Pacific Coast Highway and can be easily missed driving by. They have a parking lot behind if you are worried about parking. You can tell it's family owned once you stepped inside with its homey vibe, and they even offer a free cup of chai with every visit. The servers are very nice and were able to offer some great recommendations. Garlic Naan: Fresh, warm, and buttery. I could have ordered at least 5 of these and just ate this. Chicken Tikka Masala: Great recommendation and entry to Indian food, you can ask to adjust the spice level. It was full of flavor and goes great with rice or Naan. Lamb Biryani: Fragrant rice and lamb, I especially loved the huge chunks of meat and potatoes.

Yelp
The food was delicious and friendly customer service. I recommend this location if you are in town.

Yelp
Placed a to go order online and sent my husband for pick up. When he checked the order he noticed one item was missing. When he asked about the missing order he was immediately and dismissively told by the employee that nothing was missing... When it was confirmed that indeed there was a missing dish, she continued her rude behavior, brought out the missing item and abruptly turned and walked away -- no acknowledgement of their mistake whatsoever. The food was average and what you would expect. Not good enough to suffer through so much unpleasantness especially for something that was their mistake. If you order from this restaurant remember to check your orders and be prepared to be told you are wrong if you are missing something.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service 10/10 would recommend, the ambiance is really nice and the ac keeps you cool especially on a hot day. If you're ever in the area be sure to check this place out!!!!

Yelp
Don't miss out on this hole in the wall tasty Pakistani and Indian Halal cuisine. Despite having three signs displayed in front of their building, it's really easy to miss because it's located on PCH, unless you happen to stop because of the nearby traffic lights. I'm always looking for mom and pop businesses to support and happened to be in the area and saw this spot. Prices are very fair and portions are generous. They even have lunch specials that are available from Tues-Thurs and other daily specials that you don't want to miss. They have plenty of indoor space and even have a gorgeous outdoor patio seating. Unfortunately, it was quite hot that day so I opted to sit indoors. || L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Closest cross streets are PCH and Appian Way -Parking is available in the rear. You want to turn into the entrance as soon as you pass by the nail and hair salon. We passed by it thinking that we could just park in the next available entrance but that was not parking for that plaza. -Came on a Friday at noon and the lot was probably 70% full. || F O O D / D R I N K S || Mango Lassi ($4.00) - So smooth and delicious. Not too sweet! Potato Samosa ($4.00/4pcs) - So crispy and pairs super well with their green sauce! They also offer beef samosas but I wanted to try something without meat since my main dishes were heavy on meat. Chicken Tikka Masala ($13.99) - A classic Indian dish that I always order. What I liked about theirs was that it was so creamy and flavorful. We opted for a mild spice level and it was perfect. If you want to go for a spicier kick, medium would be a spice option to go with. Like many Indian restaurants, it doesn't come with rice or naan and will have to be ordered separately. Garlic Naan ($2.99) - Garlic Naan is always a must for me. Theirs was freshly made and the most fluffy naan that I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and make sure to order extra because one order is not going to be enough for two people. I made sure to order one naan for each person in my party. Special Chicken 65 ($15.99) - Decided to try something new and saw that many fellow Yelpers posted about this. It's chicken mixed with tangy and garlic sauce. The tanginess isn't too strong which was perfect for me. It pairs extremely well with rice or naan. Definitely recommend it if you're looking to try something new. Lamb Pulao (FRIDAY SPECIAL $14.99) - Our server recommended this daily special dish and since we were a fan of lamb, we decided to go for it. The portion is extremely generous. You can order one for yourself or share with at least one or two other people. Since it comes with a large portion of rice, I ended up saving some of that rice to go with my chicken tikka masala. Usually with lamb, there is a certain smell/odor that I don't like if it's not cooked properly but I was so pleasantly surprised that I could barely distinguish that odor. The meat was so tender that it came off the bone pretty easily.

Yelp
We started off with beef samosas, and they were nice crunchy and filled with meat. We had the Chicken biryani is like an arroz con Pollo. Special chicken, 65 in a super tangy garlic sauce. We got the Garlic naan and Chicken tandoori that is cooked in a clay oven. Halwa puri only available on Sundays. This is a special traditional breakfast of garbanzo beans, potato curry, halwa , and two fried bread. Let me tell you it had me dancing! And service was quick and efficient and I love the decor of the restaurant. Super cute and clean.

Yelp
Cool little family run restaurant in Lomita. Very extensive menu with vegan options. Some of the best Panak paneer I've ever had. Very good chicken Marsala. The outside area would be awesome in a little warmer weather. Servers were polite, but service was slow and inattentive. May have been because they were busy. Tried ordering additional items but items never placed.

Yelp
Been here before the food exquisitely delicious great service good clean great food and they a fantastic PHILLY CHEESE SANDWICH I LOVE THE COZY PATIO I ENJOY EATING THERE

Alex C.

Yelp
Love this place, and it's our go-to spot for Indian food whenever in the neighborhood. Ambiance is casual and inviting. More importantly, the food is great, and prices competitive. Love the shami kebab and both the chicken and aloo keemas. Garlic naan is great too! Highly recommended!
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
Wholesome, family owned and operated Pakistani and Indian cuisine! I loved the chicken tandoori as well as the tikka masala! This was the first time I ever trying Gulab Jamun and it def won't be my last. Parking is free behind the building. Service is fast and the staff is friendly!
google avatar

Helen Y.

Yelp
This local spot is amazing! It's a little hard to locate, but there's a huge sign that points arrow to the parking lot. There's two entrance but the main entrance is probably from the parking lot. They have a little cute patio set up in the back. Inside is more like a hole in the whole kind of place. I came here on a Wednesday night 7:30 and it was super packed. It seems like this is a local favorite. They've been around about 10 years. It's definitely the food that people coming back. I got their chicken tikka masala, and it was one of the best I've had. Their dish has a little kick to it and the flavor is so delicious. Their garlic naan was also crispy hot when it comes out.I also tried the Mango Lassi and it is also super good. If you come here, I would recommend at least get those three. I also tried the chicken samosa and special chicken 65. The chicken samosa is good appetizer that's small bites. Their dipping sauce is good. The Special Chicken 65 is fried chicken mixed in savory sauce that isn't spicy and kind of remind me of orange chicken but in different sauce. The plate is huge. The price is very good for the meal. I'll be back to try out their biriyani dishes.
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
Great food and service. Staff is friendly and wonderful. Food was so flavorful and fresh. And everything tastes especially good with garlic naan. We highly recommend it.

Jack P.

Yelp
I used to live near this place and was a regular. Whenever I'm in town, or even adjacent, I go out of my way for takeout here. Perfect food. Try the Chicken 65, spicy or extra spicy. Palak paneer with extra garlic naan and aji sauce.
google avatar

Cheska E.

Yelp
The food we tried tasted really authentic and was full of flavors. I love the combination of spices in each dish and their prices are also affordable. My personal fave is their Garlic Naan and Chicken Tikka Masala. The Chicken Tikka Masala wasn't too spicy which I liked but it was definitely packed with amazing flavors that goes so well with the Garlic Naan, it was one of the best that I've tried The mango lassi was such a nice treat after eating all the spicy dishes. I highly recommend this spot if you're around Southbay and looking for a great Indian-Pakistani food!
google avatar

Luisa G.

Yelp
This is my favorite Indian spot in the SouthBay! The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Highly recommend giving them a try.

Saoimanu S.

Yelp
The place is smaller than it looks. Parking is behind the building but fills up fast on Sundays during lunch time. Not surprised! The restaurant has outdoor seating with a few tables for smaller groups. The food wasn't outstanding, but it wasn't terrible either. The appetizers we ordered, veggie egg rolls and potato samosas, were smaller than expected. The potato samosa was tasty but not much spice/flavor. It tasted more buttery than anything else. The egg rolls weren't my favorite. If I'm being honest, they were too mushy for me and left an unpleasant aftertaste. The chicken tikka masala was pretty good, but the chicken tasted overcooked and the texture was rough. The chunks of chicken were pretty hefty though. Not pictured in this review is the paratha and mango lassi I ordered. The mango lassi was great and refreshing. The paratha came out and didn't look fully fried. I've had paratha before and this one had dough that was still raw and soft. Pretty disappointing!
google avatar

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Amazing spot, will definitely be coming back for some more Indian Cuisine. The portions were HUGE and the sauces were amazing.
google avatar

Sharmeen M.

Yelp
Came here because halal restaurant options were pretty limited in this area and my parents are very strict about this. I did not like this restaurant and will never come back here I got the chicken 65 because it was recommended by a lot of reviews but it's pieces of fried chicken in a spicy cream sauce . LoL RIP to my stomach. We also got the paneer tikka masala , it was ok Nihari was below average, would not recommend Waitress was not helpful , I asked her what's good here and she said "I don't know, everything " and then I asked ok is the nihari good? She's like I'm vegetarian. Not helpful, flat affect. But I expected the service to be bad lol sadly my rating isn't even based on the service.
google avatar

Dhanushree P.

Yelp
We ordered chicken 65, and a chicken biryani - although it tasted pretty decent, the biryani didn't come with yogurt raita or salan... which is uncommon because Biriyani is never served by itself. The chicken 65 was pretty good. The ambiance was a random collection of artwork, and tables. The service was pretty slow when we dined in, but it was okay with we did take out another time. Overall, it's pretty decent food, but that's all you get.
google avatar

Dennis W.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised to find this cozy corner to satisfy Friday night indian cuisine craving! Dine-in service was wonderful, staff was proactive and friendly to check in with us on our seating preferences and provided personal recommendations upon ordering. Food came out quickly with the place partially occupied by guests. The interior was clean (A grade) and the color scheme/decorations did a good job taking you away from the hustles and bustles of everyday city life. The Garlic Naan smelled sublime, I keep repeating to my fiancé about how appetitizing and rich it smelled. The Chicken Samosas were not dry at all, crispy on the outside and juicy within. The lamb was tender and the tikka masala sauce perfectly blended with the fibers of the meat (chef's kiss). Not really sure what Special Chicken 65 consiste ld of, but it tasted good so I assumed the specialness came from the store's own house interpretation of the dish. To top it off, the Mango Lassi (mango, milk, yogurt...etc.) was awesome at countering the medium spicy level we requested on our dishes, and we left happy and full. Give them a try!

Aguamexico N.

Yelp
The best Indian food! This is my comfort food spot and bear place to enjoy Indian cuisine. Customer service is always fast.

Victoria H.

Yelp
Hidden Gem. Food is delicious. Warm cozy atmosphere. Staff was very polite and attentive. Recommend the chicken tikka masala with naan.

Yelp
My go-to spot for Pakistani/Indian food in South Bay. I'm the biggest advocate for this place among my friends that they constantly complain that I only want to eat here. I've come here hundreds of times, takeout, in person and it always hits the spot! I've tried tons of food items, here are my favorites: Zinger Burger = 10/10, a fried chicken sandwich that always hits the spot and fries are only $1 extra. I love how they don't add tomatoes so that the chicken stays crispy and juicy. Chicken Tikka Roll = 10/10, another phenomenal menu item. This and the zinger burger are what I order all the time Chicken Kabob/Beef Kabob Rolls = 9/10. I'm not much of a kabob over tikka person, if you are you will like these more than the chicken tikka, but they are also top tier. Chicken 65 = 10/10. Phenomenal, I only get this when i eat with family-style since it's a lot of food and then we all order different dishes, but this is always the stand out. It's spicy fried chicken strips in a spicy sauce. Service is also great and the parking lot is in the back. Definitely check this place out.

Salliyong T.

Yelp
Had the Chicken Briyani. Very disappointed...no taste, no flavor just a lot of rice. I then asked the server if she can just give me some curry sauce to mix with it to give it some flavor she said I would have to pay another $3/$4 for it!!! I really don't know what the hype is about this place. I won't go back there again. The inside is simple but roomy.

Sarah C.

Yelp
paid $37 for two chicken tiki masala and garlic naan and it doesn't even come with rice.
google avatar

Saphace A.

Yelp
Delicious food! We ordered through Door Dash and got chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, daal, and garlic naan. It was a lot of food so it lasted us a few days. The biryani was fantastic! They didn't have the lamb option online but this was still pretty good. The daal was very flavorful too. So good when you've got a sore throat. The tikka sauce was great! Unfortunately, the chicken tasted tough...like it was a bit over cooked. Regardless, I'd order from here again and try some of their beef dishes.
google avatar

Brenda G.

Yelp
Came here one evening by myself. Staff was friendly, and the service was quick. They give you a large pitcher of ice water, which is great. I had Jasmin rice, a cauliflower, and potato dish with garlic Naan. The dish itself lacked a bit of flavor. If you are craving Indian food and you ate nearby, this is an ok place.
google avatar

Ross P.

Yelp
Great Indian food restaurant excellent for delivery a little on the expensive side and they forgot the rice which is a bummer but usually it's good food
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
Small hole in the wall place and has plenty of parking. Tikka masala curry has lots of flavor , perfect amount of spice but the chicken was so dry. Garlic nan is good . Tandoori chicken tasted so dry also, ended up throwing it away. I'm looking for a place that has quality meat in their Indian curry but it's hard to find so far..
google avatar

Aslihan A.

Yelp
Chicken 65 was amazing, you should eat with garlic naan. employees are friendly. It looks small from the outside but is very spacious inside.
google avatar

Muñeca L.

Yelp
Disappointed the lady in the counter/casher was very rude . Foods great but when it's served with an attitude it's disgusting! Customer service was awful very sad about it especially when ur excited to order not the vibe .
google avatar

Jaz R.

Yelp
BEST INDIAN IN THE SOUTH BAY period. Chicken tikka masala SOOO good, GREAT price and awesome people

Elena W.

Yelp
I'm very disappointed that I drove 7 miles across town because this seemed to be the only Indian restaurant in town. I know now that I will be driving even further next time I get that craving. Both the Paneer Palak and the Veggie Korma were soups -- not cheese/vegetables in sauce (as I expected). IDK maybe I'm been spoiled by all the Indian restaurants doing it the American way with think, rich, creamy sauces. In their version of each, I poured it on the rice and the sauces went straight through to the bottom and I was left with some mushrooms and broccoli (korma) and cheese (saag) on rice. Before ordering I looked at the photo of Veggie Korma and thought "that looks gross, it can't actually look like that". Well it does. Very accurate photo. The photo of the Saag Palak, however, looks good whereas the reality is thinner texture and darker color.
google avatar

Ruth A.

Yelp
Some exceptional dishes here: Chicken Tika Masala: Creamy tomato based sauce is mild yet lively with favor Lamb Pulau ( Fridays only ) is a large, tender Roasted Lamb Shank boutifully surrounded with a slightly spicy, fluffy rice Palau Paneer: you can specify the spice level; wonderfully seasoned, buttery spinach with homemade semi-soft cheese Mango Lassi: thick, creamy, rich, smooth yogurt drink with a very sweet, ripe Mango flavor Friendly service, indoor and outdoor dining.
google avatar

Kim P.

Yelp
Here enjoying lunch with some coworkers. Small business but they are very friendly and the food is DELICIOUS. Chicken Masala, Polak, Paneer (spinach) Chicken Spicy Basmati rice with toasted spices. You must try! Oops almost forgot the Always Fresh Hot Garlic infused Naan is the best Indian flatbread I've tasted!! So yummy

Jesse K.

Yelp
Ordered chicken Masala and vegetable curry, it is good spicy not hot. Quality is good and economical price. Love it.
google avatar

Athena W.

Yelp
I agree with the others. The food is fabulous. For the price and portion is steep. I get it. Rent and materials are high. I wanted to give others a heads up. Also your curry doesn't come with rice and you have to order it on the side. Naan is delicious and fluffy. The curry has a deep depth of flavor. The folks are nice and it's a small mom and pop shop Parking is behind the restaurant. You do have to make a quick and daring turn into the lot on the PCH. If you go at night just know it's dark at back there. Once you get into the lot stay left and you'll see them tucked behind the building. Worth a try just know it's expensive.
google avatar

Elainoir M.

Yelp
Service is horrible. Expect to be hung up on if making a phone order. Had come in previously to dine in as we've been to this restaurant just a year ago and had pleasant service and great food but it seems like there is a change in ownership because we haven't seen the young man who'd take our orders recently and since last visiting there was a young woman who is very rude and rolls her eyes. The food is hit or miss, either very good and followed instructions or just picked and choose which to follow. Wish there was some sort of consistency with food and service. Might try another Indian place from now on.
google avatar

Dale S.

Yelp
Food was good. Editable and tasty but honesty I've had better tasting Pakistani food before. I had lamb korma which was slightly spicy but extremely manageable. Hubby had chicken tiki masala it was super buttery but also tasty. Their portions were small for what you pay. Service was good. They waited on us in reasonable time and checked frequently. Ambiance was ok. indoors was painted in a welcoming orange. I would prefer they didn't have the windows covered but it's a small homey spot so no complaints. They have outdoor seating which is where I sat. It was comfy. All in all. It's like the only Indian food spot in the area so it's great when you don't have options. I recommend giving them a try.

Cristine D.

Yelp
I once tried this place and I will keep Coming back. It is reasonably priced and food is delicious. The service is at par for my experience. And I love the hot milk tea. I highly recommend this place.

Kevin Z.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from here for the first time today. I have to say, this did not meet expectations. First off, I ordered chicken biryani but never received it, instead I got a container of white rice. The nahari was not good. There was very little beef and it was overly sauced. The sauce itself tasted more of beef broth than what a good nahari should. I also ordered chicken tika. The chicken was dry despite being served in a ton of sauce. Nothing special about this dish. The best thing in my order was the garlic naan and the green sauce. I wish the rest of my meal had been as good as this.

Bilal A.

Yelp
Great food, great service and atmosphere. If your desi and looking for a taste of home look no further and if you've never had Indian/pakistani cuisine before I highly recommend trying here as your first introduction
google avatar

Ki R.

Yelp
We ordered through grubhub and did not eat at the restaurant. So, I can't give a review on the service or atmosphere. I apologize for this. It was good and delicious for being delivered. The flavors were surprisingly, over as expected, from my experience with these flavors. This was refreshingly delightful. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Nan, and Potato Samosas. The spices and seasonings were very unique and authentic. The process of extracting the flavors and the depth of flavor is to be appreciated. We really enjoyed this dinner, without the need of saying. Delicious! Please do yourself self a favor and come try it. I will be...a great experience.
google avatar

Lonzo J.

Yelp
The food was very bland. I ordered the tiki masala chicken and garlic naan with samosas. None of which had any flavor to them whatsoever. Customer service was fine but if you enjoy eating cardboard please help yourself.
