Fancy's Southern Cafe

I had an incredible dining experience, and I want to give a special shoutout to our waitress DD. She was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home from the moment we sat down. Her excellent service truly enhanced our meal. And speaking of the meal—wow! The pot roast was absolutely the best I've ever tasted. Tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, it practically melted in my mouth. The savory gravy, perfectly seasoned vegetables, and hearty meat made for a truly comforting and memorable dish. Thanks to DD for the fantastic service and to the kitchen for the outstanding pot roast—definitely a must-try for anyone craving a comforting, delicious meal. We'll be back soon!

The Chicken Pot Pie was underwhelming, although presentation was nice. The dish lacked salt and flavor. The waitress was kind enough to bring some salt & pepper but it was still underwhelming. We also ordered the grilled cheese which was better but very salty. Overall, the gingerale was our favorite part of our meal, very crisp and flavorful. The restaurant is decorated very nicely with a southern feel.

Visiting My Sister, in town for the weekend. Stopped by here for a Late Lunch. Had the Chicken & Waffles. Wifey got the Steak & Eggs. Mom got the Southern Crab Cake Benedict and we shared the Liver & Onions, Catfish and Frog Legs. Willamette Valley Pinot went well with everything. Superb Service. Seems like our Server was very busy and overworked as we came at a busy time with other tourists besides us. For the life of me, I cant remember her name but, Jason was very accomodating and aimed to please helping Mom, which I am grateful to. I think he was a line cook or Sous Chef or something. Our Server was busy so Mom had called out to him as he passed by and he went out of his way to help and seemed to genuinely care about us which, our Family appreciates very much. We left her a VERY nice tip. Hopefully, she shared with Jason. We recommended Fancy's to all My Sisters' friends & neighbors. She owns a business nearby and we will come back and visit every time we are in town!

I had a nice little lunch here during the week. The service was excellent. The restaurant was pretty neat and interesting to look at. The food was pretty good but a bit pricey for lunch (for me). We both had leftovers so I guess that counts for 2 lunches.

What a beautifully decorated, wonderfully staffed, and delicious spot! I took my mom here before her flight, for a nice lunch. Upon reaching the restaurant a handsome gentleman helped Mom up the curb and into the restaurant while I took care of the street parking. He was the chef, so gallant! We ordered the frog legs and cornbread to start. Both items were outstanding! Her shrimp and grits and my chicken fried steak were just as yummy as the starters. Each dish was like the warm southern home cooking I grew up with. Let me also say, the French fries ARE sliced fresh in house. They were perfectly hot and crispy. Liz was a gem of a waitress and the bartender (Hunter?) was also very welcoming. I he NO doubt, I'll be back. Payton.

We have always been a fan of the food but always felt the service has room for improvement. We have only come during dinner and we always have loved the country fried steak and chicken and waffles. We ordered this upon our recent visit after not coming for several years and the food is just as good as we remembered. The waffles stood out highly this time especially topped with the sweet potato shreds. 4 large waffles in the dish make for a huge plate super filling. The chicken fried steak was good also, one side seemed to be mostly all breading and minimal steak, but was still good. I love the gravy it comes with. Our servers, Ian and his trainee Joel, did a phenomenal job serving. They were extremely friendly and were great with natural conversation. I did knock off a couple stars, since we did see the hosts and some servers sitting around in the front while it wasn't too busy, it's a lazy look and when you look around, you easily see a bunch of dusty items that definitely could use a wipe down.. Overall this place has been pretty consistent with their food at least. Drinks are good too. Just some ambiance things that I feel can use a bit of improvement.

This was my 1st time at Fancy's The catfish and Fried Okra and loaded mash was Delicious! My Waitress Millie was the BEST SERVER EVER!!!! SO KIND AND SWEET!!! I'LL BE BACK 5 STARS 🌟

The cafe has unusual decor, very well done. Everything on the menu is prepared fresh. Our waitress was Tarin. She was great. We ordered donuts. They were delicious, and fairly expensive for 2. I ordered chicken and biscuit. The biscuits are light and very good. Unfortunately, it crumbled before I could eat the sandwich. The chicken was well cooked and juicy.

This meal was excellent!!! Hot, flavorful!! I'm from out of town, and it was a great choice!!!!

Fancy FAILURE How do I begin, we walk in with no reservation.... 7:32 PM The restaurant has lots of seating. Keep reading you'll see why. We wait 15 mins. To get water. A waiter approaches the table next to us and totally ignores us. After 15 more mins Liz walks past and offers help says she is not our waitress but saw us sitting there.... She Takes our order we wait another 20 mins chicken and waffles come out. So not the entire order just chicken and waffles. 15 more mins my dinner date literally goes to find the waitress to ask where my food is at this point his food is rock cold. Liz finds my food lamb chops they were completely Unseasoned! * no sour cream no salt no pepper YUCK!!!! She offered to bring both but only provided sour cream. I eat one of the horrible chops then ask for the bill! She sends over the manager Lucious the inexperienced and overwhelmed manger... guess what guys. He waited on the table next to us.... But walked past my table like we were invisible.....Lucious provided an insincere apology and says he will see what he can do billing wise. Says he will be back in a minute.... He walks past us 4 times no eye contact. Finally Liz comes with the bill. See attached**** I call Lucious and ask why didn't come back to address our concern "I got busy". Ummmm this place is empty and he is reason why! Moving on I pay the bill but can't help but wonder why they wouldn't provide service to our table. See the bill!! They planned on charging me $65 for these nasty chops... OMG!!! In the case Fancy's restaurant downtown Fort Myers is an absolute FAILURE of a restaurant. SEATED. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RESTAURANT... IGNORED NO SERVICE NO FOOD***Sorry to deliver this news Dear owners the staff has no idea how to deliver food service. Please evaluate P&L with Lucious as the manager this location will be closed in no time. THIS IS LITERALLY ONE OF THE WORST RESTAURANTS I HAVE EVER VISITED !!! Guess what leadership people do not care about your attempt to get settled or in your grove we are paying for dinner!!

Cute spot. Came for dinner with a friend while in town. We had chicken and waffles, Shrimp and grits and a side of mashed potatoes. Our server was so helpful, funny and kind. She encouraged to get whatever we wanted to eat, no restrictions and how we wanted it served. I'll come back here next time I'm in town!

I liked this place. Went on a Sunday, so it was the weekend menu. Brunch and dinner. They close at 2:30 (until 3:30) for the changeover. Food was very good and service was very attentive. Place isn't huge but it's big enough. I understand they are opening a new location downtown - can't wait.

I went to Fancy's Southern Cafe one day to meet a friend for lunch. I was shocked to see Frog Legs with Hot Honey Sauce on the menu, so I decided why not try it. My friend and I both tried their frog legs and both agreed that the hot honey sauce made the frog legs much more palatable. I also ordered their Fried Chicken & Waffles dish which was incredibly delicious (both taste and appearance). My friend ordered the same and we both licked our plates clean. Our server was great and very personable. The atmosphere inside was upscale but comfortable. Overall, great experience!!

Unfortunately food was not as good as we had hoped. I got the Country fried steak, and it tasted like grease, and the gravy had no flavor and must have sat under the warmer for too long; it had a layer of shine. Paying $20.00 for a piece of greasy meat with no flavor, only to have to add $11.00 for mashed potatoes, which luckily saved the meal. The Florida Hot Chicken sandwich was decent, although the French fries weren't anything to write home about. Chicken pot pie was large and also lacked any true flavor in the filling. The service was excellent and was worth 5 stars. The restaurant is lovely inside; it just needs to iron out the lack of flavor in its dishes.

We had a very good lunch here. And if you like old-fashioned southern cooking, you would as well. Service was friendly but a bit slow. The kitchen staff, however, is most talented so any wait is well worth it. As we were traveling, it was nice that this restaurant was not a far detour off the highway. And it was easy parking right out front. The restaurant has a couple sections -- a bar area and a separate dining room. We chose to dine in the regular dining room as it was quieter. They had a number of appealing lunch specials. It was hard to choose. Each special came with the addition of two sides. And the portions are big enough to share. My husband selected the liver and onions. For sides, he chose the collard greens and mashed potatoes with gravy. He said it was very good. I opted for their chicken pot pie and got green beans and sweet potato casserole as my sides. The pot pie was creamy with a large amount of white meat shredded chicken, peas, and carrots, in the rich sauce. All was topped with a very delicious puff pastry topping. Both portions were huge, and we both took half our meals home. My husband did save some room for his (absolute) favorite dessert -- banana pudding. Again, a huge portion, with fresh bananas and crunchy vanilla wafers added to the pudding. There were also some small dollops of whipped cream, as well. We had the leftovers for a couple days... I'm sure we will be coming back here when we next pass by this area. This place is a keeper.

One star taken away since I've never ordered an entree of eggs Benedict and only receive one Benedict. The donuts while fresh are incredibly sweet fyi for those too sensitive. Service at the bar was great. The mac and cheese and country fried steak lived up to the hype. We'll come back again to try other items.

What a welcoming vibe one gets walking into this quaint establishment. The alluring aroma from the delicious waffles fill the air. I met my friend for lunch. She had ordered for our appetizer Fried Frog Legs. I had never ever eaten frog legs before in my life. After Tim , our server, placed the plate between us, I took a pair of frog legs and placed them on my plate. As I gazed upon the chubby legs, I began profusely apologizing crying & asking for forgiveness. Once I finished my apology , I gently cut pieces off and ate them. The legs were perfectly seasoned & gently fried to perfection. It really did taste like chicken. I must admit it was very good. Then my entree came out...Chicken and Waffles! Wow! The buttermilk vanilla syrup really was absolutely amazing & delicious! The chicken breast was perfectly cooked and the small Belgian waffles were light , fluffy and yummy. The sweet potato accent spirals really topped it nicely. Tim was phenomenal. We couldn't ask for a better server. We shall return!

Stop it right now! Why have I taken so long to come to fancy's? It's been on my list for 2 years and we just went in on Sunday! We were one of the last ones to come in about an hour before close and they were so accommodating! They had live music and the perfect dimly lit ambiance! We were seated, promptly greeted, taken care of very well, and our food came out fast, hot, and fresh from the kitchen! Everything we tried was absolutely divine: the ribs, the mac n cheese, the chicken and waffles, the sweet potato casserole, the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, etc! Everything is melt in your mouth and the perfect combo of flavors! This is absolutely a comfort food spot that fulfills every craving! Come to fancy's, you won't regret it!

What a fabulous brunch for 5 ladies this past Sunday . It was rainy and gloomy, but we had an amazing time at Fancy's Southern Cafe. Our server Danielle was amazing, very friendly and professional, she checked on our special requests w the chef. The food arrived quickly and it was soooo delicious. We split few apps : fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, doughnuts, fried frog legs (omg ..the best frog legs I ve had anywhere)! I had catfish w waffles, my friends had mountain man omelette, sausage gravy and biscuits, crab Benedict, sausage patties, pancakes, Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious , everyone was happy. Oh ye..and we did bottomless mimosas ..$23 a person, was def worth the price w 4 dif juices to choose from to accompany. We ll be def back to such a fine establishment in Ft Myers, FL!!!

OMG why haven't we been here sooner? Super cute place so much to look at inside. Food was amazing & server Carlos was great. I had the meatloaf & hub had the country fried steak, both were delicious. Tried the drink special espresso old fashioned & it was great!

I think they use the title "Fancy" as a crutch.... Everything was just "meh" at best. Nothing to write home about. FOOD: biscuits were stale. I did taste alot of salt in their "fresh" recipe. The French toast was just alright. The "spicy" chicken was just fried chicken with ole bay seasoning. The only thing decent had was the home made donuts. At least those tasted fresh. Service: lacks zest. But at least she was honest. Ambiance: what's with all the cabinet doors? According to my mom... Ladies bathroom needed to be freshened up #gross Buy in large: ill fancy that this trip was a one n done for me.

Came here after work, I was surprise the place wasn't pack. Sat down at the bar and order my drinks and food. For appetizer I had the deviled eggs. Main course had the Shrimp and Grits and dessert peach cobbler. The deviled eggs was good, but it need more flavor & a kick to it. The star of the nite was the Shrimp & Grits, shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the grits has goof flavor, especially I love how it has a kick to it. Love it so much still thinking about that dishe. Lastly the dessert, peach cobblers it was warm and it was perfect. I was so full after the dinner. The server server is very attentive. Overall I love everything that I ordered. Highly recommend this place. I would definitely go back again.

True southern cooking. We had a minor issue with one of the orders and they immediately rectified it. Great ambience and the food was even better.

My reunion with a lifelong friend, was made even more special at Fancy Southern Café. I asked the server to surprise me with his favorite drink, and although he was only 18, he recommended the Smoked Manhattan, which was remarkable! Every dish we ordered was as good as what could be found on grandma's table! The country classics, like deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, Florida hot chicken sandwich, and my country fried steak, were all excellent options from this delightful menu!

Fried chicken is delicious! Everything is very very good but known for the fried chicken! Very attentive service!

Being a Classically trained, Southern Chef, I wanted to see if this place was as good as I've heard, especially the Shrimp and Grits. Wife and I went for Brunch. It's away from most busy areas, which was nice. I have to say, this place is awesome. The menu reads deliciously! The decor is cool. The service was impeccable and Tara did such a good job. I tried the Bloody Mary, which is as good as the ones we used to get down on the beach, if not better! The coffee was fantastic!!! Wife got the Filet and Eggs and I got the Shrimp and Grits. Both were perfect in portion size, presentation, and flavor. I like a gravy with my S&Gs, but the creaminess of these grits made up for it. Wife's filet was a perfect Medium Rare and the over-easy eggs were perfect for dipping slices from the 8oz filet. Hers came with crispy hashbrowns, which were also perfect. Great job by the entire staff, we will definitely be back!

OMG. What a find! Decided to stop for brunch after a golf lesson. Both my husband and I love chicken fried steak, and this did not disappoint. The steak was tender and fried with a perfect amount of coating. The mash potatoes were the best( better than homemade with lots of butter) Definitely a great find. We will be back

GREAT PLACE!! One of the vest espresso martinis!! we were visiting my husband's son and family and they recommended this place. I had some of the best ribs I've ever had! And a loaded baked potato. My husband had the jambalaya. My SIL had the chicken and waffles. It looked fabulous! Kids had the biggest portion of mac N cheese I've seen! Most adults couldn't finish it. We had leftovers! I can't wait to come back...

Such a cool looking place. The walls have elements of old buildings and homes; old doors, cabinets, windows, tin roofs. He tries the frogs legs and ate every bit of meat off them. The chicken and waffles did not disappoint. The waffles are fluffy and full of flavor, as is the chicken. He tried the ribs, which were fall-off-the-bone tender and melted in the mouth. The only complaint was that the Mac and cheese was cold in the middle. Our server was very friendly and attentive.

Oh, in all honesty, I was there with five friends and the other four thought the place was marvelous. I however, was not a fan of southern cooking. I had the waffles and chicken and it looked amazing. It was delivered and it was a high tower of chicken and waffles. Eating it, though, was not as great as I thought it would. The chicken was dried out and over salted -really not pleasant to eat. The waffles themselves were fine, but the syrup was a homemade, thick caramel gloup that I did not care for. Two of the other ladies had shrimp and grits and étouffée. They both loved it. Two had a meatloaf sandwich. They said it was amazing- so it was probably just my choice, but I think I would probably only go there if you were a big fan of southern cooking which obviously I am not.

Awful, terrible, worse I ever had. In my opinion the place is a dump, the service was input, never saw the owner, tables were dirty, menus were sticky & they were out of 3 things we ordered. Please don't waste your money. I am giving them one star because Yelp makes me.

Went on a Saturday for breakfast. What a cute place! The decor is just simply awesome, looking like many of the great restaurants we've visited in NOLA. Attention to detail is obvious with the tin ceiling, wooden doors, brick walls, lighting fixtures. When we mentioned the decor, our server told us that the owner did all the work himself. Kudos to you, sir! It's beautiful. On to the food... I had the southern omelette, only substituted mushrooms for peppers. I was pleasantly surprised to see fresh mushrooms. The omelette also had bacon, onions, and cheddar jack cheese. The egg part was fresh and very thin but delicious. I've been searching for great grits for 4 months and I'd have to say these were the best so far. The grits were cooked well and creamy. My only issue was that they had too much cheese. Hard to believe that could be a problem, but it was for me. Hubby had the eggs with biscuits and gravy and he said they were in his top 2. The gravy had a great amount of sausage and a smooth flavor. Eggs are fresh and cooked perfectly. I had a side of a biscuit with my omelette which was served warm with butter on the side. I personally didn't care for the biscuit, but they aren't my thing. I did wish after the fact that I had gotten plain toast; but that was my mistake. If you're a biscuit lover, you would most likely enjoy this one. Danielle, our server, was so pleasant and friendly. The service was amazing. Another nice touch is that when we passed by the kitchen on our way out, all the people behind the counter greeted us and thanked us for coming. Nice touch. Definitely a keeper.

Our experience was not what we were anticipating. Friends had told us we needed to try. We want away disappointed at best. Our service was nice, but what she communicated in the offerings that she explained were not even available on menu. Large amount of waisted time. My meal was not very fresh and flavors did not work at all. Service and care for customer was disappointing. To finish, it was our anniversary and we choice them to celebrate. They did try to give us dessert, but the dessert had dairy. Lack of their communication.

It was our 18 year anniversary tonight and my wife heard good things about Fancy's. So we came here and I'm glad we did. My wife had the meatloaf and I had the chicken and waffles. Both dishes were delicious and our server Marissa was very attentive. The place filled up pretty quickly and the kitchen staff was able to keep up with the demand. I will be back to visit with the kids next time.

This place is hard to find tucked in behind a shopping plaza but what a find! Service was amazing and food came fast. Frog legs were deep tied and wonderful and the Ribs were tender and fell off the bone . The cornbread is to die for !

Nice place with great food & friendly service. The seating is a little crowded and it gets a little tight in there during brunch on the weekends. Not necessarily the best place to have a conversation as it does get loud and difficult to hear. As I mentioned above great food, everyone in our party really enjoyed their breakfasts, coffee was hot and fresh.

Both locations are great. Their brunch is always good. The new location is beautiful.

Just found this place and it's been here 13 years! Wow what we've been missing...looked so good forgot to take food pics except one already dug into. Start brunch with the housemade donuts. They reminded me of funnel cakes but better! We had the corned beef hash w/ eggs and shrimp and grits. Both were excellent and more than we could eat. All the staff were professional and friendly. The feel of the place is classy rustic and the entire experience rivaled places we dine in Vegas. It is surely a hidden gem but we were told they are also opening a downtown location this year. Hopefully they can maintain the same great quality there. Update 1 week later. We met our business partner for brunch. Table had garden omelet, chicken and waffles and French toast. The homemade buttermilk syrup is great! The chicken was slightly over fried and dry but I enjoyed the waffles. My partner said the omelet was meh. The veggies were also overcooked and soggy. Well keep going though. I have much more to try!

This place was cute. A group of us came here for dinner and the server was very attentive. To start we had the fried cheese grits which were okay, the devilled eggs and the fried tomatoes those were great. I had the crawfish po boy it was good, the sweet potatoes fries were yummy. In our group the meatloaf was a favourite and the chicken fried steak too. The interior was chill southern cafe vibes but pretty. We enjoyed our meal and would go back if we were in the area.

Service great, good prepared well. Spicy chicken is actually sweet, there's sugar in the coating. Made well though!

GREAT FOOD! Staff always have such a lively spirit and the environment is super cozy. Didn't think a place like this existed in this part of town but glad I found it!! Keep being fancy's!!

My sister, mother and brother-in-law took us on a recent visit to Ft Myers. He said it was one of his favorites. We started with some cocktails and a generous appetizer of cheesy grits bites. Their bar has tons of bourbon selections if you so inclined. For entrees, I went with his favorite the chicken and waffles. We got the lunch portion as there is no chance I could have finished the massive dinner portion. Believe it or not, this was my first time ever trying chicken and waffles and I like the combination a lot. Their maple syrup is quite good. My wife had a pimento cheeseburger which she loved. The other two ladies had chefs salads. Service was friendly and attentive.

Great food and service, ambiance was nice. Reminds me of little pubs in Iowa. Thank you!

The food is so yummy and unique! Also highly recommend their bottomless mimosas. I've been here with my husband for breakfast and girlfriends for brunch and had a wonderful time.

1-27-24 10:30 AM Had an errand to run on the other side of the state this morning. I planned ahead and dragged my bestie along promising an awesome Brunch. The stakes are high as I have never disappointed her yet. Of course I turned to Yelp to find the best place in the area. Off the beat and track so to speak I wonder how anyone has found this place. Tucked away in a smaller shopping plaza. There was plenty of parking and as we walked to the entrance I held my breath scared on what we will find. As soon as we opened the door whew nice bar full stocked not too crazy busy yet. We waited for the hostess who sat us at a nice table. Also got us a nice decanter of water. Our server came over I got lemons and my friend Sweet Tea her favorite as she is a Southern girl born and bred. We started with deviled eggs and an order of Fried Green Tomatoes. She thought they were the best she ever had and I agree. Next I got Chicken and Waffles served with a delicious syrup not too sweet. She got crab cakes which came with more fried green tomatoes and two sides her choice Mac n Cheese with french fries hand cut. Listen did not stop there as I had a long drive home so I got an order of Doughnuts to go. No photo as I had to hide the evidence. Definitely a jewel of a place so glad it exceeded my expectations and then some. Yum!

Came for Sunday Brunch. Menu variety for brunch was pretty good and diverse. We had the Chicken and Waffles and the Strawberry French Toast. One thing I will say is that their Buttermilk Syrup is totally unique and delicious-so delicious, we bought a bottle home with us. The flaky texture of the French Toast was yummy and unique to me. The Chicken was so flavor-packed and juicy with the waffles that I could've opted for the full-sized portion. It was that good. Only knock on this place is that the service could've been more attentive and quicker. However, the ambiance is funky and eclectic and I would come back for a drink and to explore the menu more.

The food is so good here. Second time I've been. The chicken and waffles with homemade bourbon butter syrup is to die for. Our server was very friendly and the hostess was too. A bit of a wait but totally worth it. It has an old country style dining area and they bring you a bottle of water to start. I didn't try them but the fried green tomatoes looked great!

Had dinner here with my parents and fiancé to celebrate Mother's Day. We were disappointed in our meal. Service was great and friendly as always, however, it's felt the last few times that they need a stronger management team. After their brunch service the dinning room and bathrooms should be cleaned and ready for dinner service. And the bathroom seems like a needs a refresh or update the door handles. I had the meatloaf, I know I should have went with the liver and onions. But I wanted to try something new. My fiancé had the country fried steak which was okay. And my dad lived the pot roast. But his sweet potatoes he said were cold which I was surprised since my mom and mine were hot. My mom always gets the liver and onions here which was good as always. Loved our server! She was on top of it with refilling our drinks!

Service and ambiance were great! Filtered water was great!! Cornbread was mostly flour and almost no cornmeal, when told otherwise. Had the hamburger with pimento cheese and collard greens. Burger was cooked to my liking but under seasoned if seasoned at all. The tomato, lettuce and onion were so fresh--like just picked fresh!! Great bun to meat ratio. Pimento cheese was not pimento cheese--it was a blob of liquid cheese with no pimento whatsoever. Collards were cooked to great temp and texture with good meat flavor but very salty and almost not edible.

Unique southern good food, great service, enjoyed ambiance. Brought a larger crowd for B day celebration. Fun

This is such a hidden gem! The chicken and waffles were absolutely delicious- this is the meal portion. They also have a sampler. Our server was accommodating when we needed to move our table inside. That was much appreciated.

The Best Chicken & Waffles I have ever had, their maple syrup is delicious, they even sell by the bottle. The service is always wonderful and totally love their decor/ ambiance. Highly recommend
