We LOVE their wings the sweet chili sauce is amazing! And their Cheeseburger is top tier. Also the Cheese topper pizza is to die for even the breaded tenderloin so good! We are obsessed and the staff is phenomenal!🍕🍔 Also they have games for kids if you Dine in!🎯

Google
The server was polite and helpful. Food was delivered hot and delicious. The dinner salad was so big I couldn't finish it. I also took half of my sandwich home.

Google
I’ve been coming here since I was knee high. Every single time, the food and service is excellent! You haven’t had a deep dish pizza until you’ve tried it from here, I promise you that! And don’t ask where the cheese is… it’s under the sauce like the good Lord intended 🤌🏼

Amber Harvey

Google
I got spinach artichoke dip and chips and chicken bacon ranch pizza. Both amazing, definitely should try. I got my pizza on thin crust this time because I like to switch it up.

Google
After 50+ years of enjoy their deep dish pies, decided to give a thin crust a try Combo with no shrooms and not disappointed! Very good flavors and cheese had a perfect pull. Wife had a Philly with fries. Beef sliced pretty thick and not very tender, still she liked it Overall another great visit

Google
Great food and service. Family friendly too!

Google
Drove all the way from Pleasant Hill area to pick-up a deep dish pizza because we had a craving for F&O. But it was not at all the way we remembered it. The veggies and sauce were good, but the "Graziano sausage" was a flat burger like slice of flavorless meat. It was not at all the Graziano we've grown up with! The crust seemed a little undercooked, but air frying it to rewarm may improve it, after we pick out the mystery sausage.

Google
I'm from Manhattan NYC. I know pizza. This dough taste and feels like it was made from a Bisquick dough mix. We ordered thin crust, the toppings were good but made it a soggy floppy mess. Chicken tenders were from a freezer bag. Felt like munching on rocks on the edges .

Yelp
Pizza and cheese sticks were delicious even after the delivery from 20 minutes away. Crust was crispy and chewy, while the sauce was sweet and savory with a nice balance. The bacon and sausage were amazing! A fantastic combination of delicious and fresh ingredients! That's all I can judge, since this was delivered. We can't wait to do in person. I will update my review after that!

Yelp
I ordered take out close to kitchen-closing time. Fortunately it was right after a big party left. The wings were meaty. The buffalo sauce was given as a dip, so they weren't as covered with sauce as I normally prefer, but I was able to season them as I desired. The combo Chicago-style pizza was ready on time (in fact it was a couple minutes early). The toppings on the pizza were excellent. I've had better Chicago style crusts, but one must understand how awesome it was to have any Chicago style pizza available in Des Moines so close to my Airbnb. The take out counter server was also the manager, and she was very gracious, helpful, and didn't mind getting my meal a free minutes early. She also informed me of various bargain nights. It was an excellent experience

Yelp
A local friendly unassuming restaurant , excellent deep dish pizza. Nothing fancy, appropriate pricing, recommended.

Yelp
Undeniably the best deep dish pizza hands down. We have loved it since their now closed but original location In the Drake neighborhood. You can go wrong with pepperoni and sausage. Add extra sauce.

Yelp
Their service is amazing, and the food is pretty amazing. My favorite Sammie is the nasty grinder.

Yelp
Pizza was delicious. I prefer thin crust but for a little something different sometimes, this hits the spot. One piece is enough for a meal so expect leftovers. We did the combination and it was a perfect balance of meats and vegetables. Service was ok. We had to flag down someone to take our order and then she forgot to put it in. An hour later she checked on us again and realized her mistake. A quick rush on our pizza and we were treated to a nice perfectly crisp crust. This is a sports bar type place that would also be good for families.

Yelp
There are places we go when we are just in the mood for something we know. Tonight was spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread and a salad. Don't forget the creamy Parmesan dressing. Consistency is what is expected and a bowl of comfort is exactly what we had. But let's talk about the to-go Key Lime Cheesecake...over priced! A dollar a bite. Disappointment. One star dropped off as I looked for another bite! Never again.
google avatar

Miranda S.

Yelp
Still do not recommend. But updating review to acknowledge a lot of people do like this places food. And spaghetti sauce on the pizza. I do not.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is extremely wonderful. It offers some great Chicago style deep dish pizza and good service. There is a massive parking lot right outside the restaurant which makes it super convenient. Overall I would highly recommend visiting this place if you want to enjoy Chicago deep dish pizza.

Yelp
We weren't sure what to expect walking in. We'd seen F&O's several times when driving by but the most we knew was the curb was always lined with terrible parking jobs in the yellow and red zone out front. It turns out to be a pretty popular sports bar atmosphere much like a cross between Old Chicago and Buffalo Wild Wings. The food is very good in most cases, but the service might leave you hanging. We started with the Nasty Fries, which I think we'd do again in a heartbeat. Just the right amount of heat with an unexpected win between the marinara -covered sausage and the hot sauce. The ranch dressing with it had the perfect tanginess to go along too. We tried a small deep dish Loaded Grinder pizza and that was very good too! The only note is that the medium would probably have a better crust experience than the small. It was a little thick for my wife's tasted. Still really good though. Also came nice and piping hot. The Baked Cavatelli was a real letdown. When you order cavatelli and get a thin, low-quality, seemingly store bought shell pasta (orecchiette) it sucks. All the other ingredients in the dish were so good, but the pasta itself was sadder than sad. After the dishes were delivered to the table. We did get one refill on drinks and then we were left alone. The salad that comes with the pasta never arrived. There were a couple of larger groups and other patrons that had come in and we were apparently forgotten about in the corner. We couldn't get noticed by any wait staff. My wife went to the ATM and was almost back to the table with some cash to drop and go when we finally got checked on. Our server apologized profusely several times. When we asked about getting the salad along with our to-go boxes, she doubled the size of the salad and and practically ran to get our card processed for the check. Overall it was a very tasty (and heavy) meal. I don't think I'd come here on the weekends if they're that overrun on a Monday night. But I would definitely come try them again if I were in the right mood.

Witz W.

Yelp
The service was not good at all. After we finally got our pizza the waiter never came and asked how it tasted. When she came with the check I asked her if they made their own dough and she said yes. I told her that's hard to believe because the crust was horrible and tasted like frozen pie crust. She pretty much ignored the comment. This was the first and last time I eat here ! 1. Service was lousy 2. Pizza ? The sauce and cheese had a weird taste and the crust was just lousy ! I love Pizza but this was the worst I have ever had besides frozen.

Yelp
Went to F&O for the first time for my 27th birthday because I wanted to try Chicago deep dish pizza. I ordered a small deep dish cheese pizza as my entree, & cheese curds for my appetizer. Let me tell you, these were probably the best cheese curds I've ever had. They were super cheesy, the breading was perfect, not too crunchy, not too soggy, a perfect middle ground, and dipped in the marinara sauce included made these a delightful dish. As for the pizza itself, I've always wanted to try deep dish, but never got around to it. I thought the pizza was fairly good, but it didn't blow me away. The crust was kinda flakey (almost like pie crust), im unsure if that's how the crust is supposed to be but it was alright. I would've preferred a garlic crust or maybe some seasoning to make it a bit more tasty. But the pizza was cheesy, and the sauce was sweet. It was probably a 7/10 pizza. The place reminded me of Buffalo Wild Wings with the multiple TVs around the restaurant playing nothing but sports. It definitely feel like BWW, but overall it was presented well and clean overall. Bathrooms were clean too. The service was okay. The server messed up our cheese curds by delivering mozzarella sticks, but it's okay, mistakes happen. Server didn't come check on us too much, but I can understand how when you have multiple tables it gets hard to get to all often. Overall it was a good dinner. I would go back, but id try a different pizza with some toppings or different crust.

Yelp
Love this place. The deep dish is better than Giordanos. Good thin onion rings. Creamy parm dressing is great. This place is a Des Moines institution. Also, don't forget about the thin crust pizza. It's really good, too.

Yelp
Both of my youngest kids are at camp. Kind of missing them...and sometimes you just have to suck it up and say f-it. One large pepperoni and mushroom cheese topper pizza please. Comfort food! My Doordasher was a rock star! And I don't say that lightly. The pizza was still steaming. I love this pizza... And I haven't had it for quite a while. It hasn't changed. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." - Ferris Bueller. .

Yelp
Went for lunch last week. All 3 of us ordered the nasty grinder. It was 11:30 so we just assumed the waitress would know we were having the lunch special. Was supposed to be $10.99 but we got our bill it was $14.99. Not sure what the problem was but we didn't say anything. I did try to reach out by email but never got a response. Just make sure you get what you order.
google avatar

Rey Z.

Yelp
Waitress never came back after giving our drink. Then took our order gave us our food and never came back. Been waiting for twenty minutes on a refill. Had to go up and get a refill myself. Food is that good overpriced.

Yelp
We travel to eat, and one of the things I love is an Italian beef sandwich. I had been missing the ones I used to get in Chicago, and had tried a few in Des Moines, but was disappointed. Tonight, we hit Felix and Oscars, because he wanted Italian, and most Italian restaurants were closed on Monday night, and I'm so glad we did. That Italian beef dip was even better than Buono! And the onion tanglers were sooo good. He had chicken Alfredo, and barely spoke. We walked in at 4pm to a cool, quiet, clean dining room. Service was stellar, and the food came out hot and fresh. We will be back.

J S.

Yelp
Best place ever love the Oreo cake was delicious fun games and have so many memories and the staff were so kind by - the kid with the st. Patrick's day ducky/ my lucky ducky.

Yelp
We stopped here based on a recommendation from new friends who tried it over 20 years ago and loved it. We started with the Oscar Fries (see picture), as we were hungry and ready to start eating. They were delicious! We weren't sure about the red onion toppings, but ended up really liking the combination. Our friends recommended the deep dish pizza, so based on our server's suggestion, we went with the Combo (see pictures) and really enjoyed it. I would describe the crust as more along the lines of Bisquick pizza crusts I've made in the past (as opposed to more like bread), but it was really good. As a bonus they had a pretty good selection of tap beers (see picture) - and we sampled several. Food: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Value: 4 Service: 4.5 If you found this review helpful, please click to show your support.

Yelp
4/5- Food quality was great, food temperature was inconsistent across my lunch party. (Friend ordered a pizza that was cold, my fiance's and my food was hot. Fries were cold and bland. 1/5- Service was abysmal. Other than the initial order interaction, drinks were not refilled, had to ask for the check after 5 mins of waiting for server to come around. Never got the salad to go we ordered, although we still paid for it because we couldn't wait around any longer. 3/5 - It was ok, fairly clean. Kind of dark like a bar.

Yelp
It's an interesting restaurant with vibes of a sports bar and a pub with bar food and pizza. It's been open since 1975 and when the owner retired he sold it to one of his employees who worked for him since he was 14. It's my kind of place because I found out they make and cook their own roast beef every week andi more add spices to it to give it that Italian style and then thin slice it for their Italian dip sandwiches. I got the ITALIAN BEEF DIP I was told it's Angus pride top round, kitchen seasoned with some spices put inside the beef and slow roasted in there kitchen, thinly sliced and topped with provolone cheese. The Au jus comes from the drippings from the roast beef $12 they have a lunch version and they also can give it a little Philly cheese steak style if you want grilled peppers and onions mushrooms queso and a little mozzarella. They also have grinders using slow cooked graziano sausage They make a Chicago style deep dish pizza, and thin style as well. They also offer lots of beer choices and have quite a variety. I had a slingshot dunkel from Iowa's coralville back pocket Brewery it was delicious. They are family-friendly and also have private rooms for meetings or parties. It's also got TVs everywhere so if you're into football or baseball or games in general they'll have it on. Also if you're a single person this is an a good place to go because they have a large bar area to sit down in. The bartender made me feel welcome let me try a little bit of any beer I wanted to try and made sure I got my food quickly it was hot and delicious.

Yelp
my boyfriend and i came in for trivia night. it took 15 minutes for our server to actually come to the table and get us drinks and get us started with an appetizer. she basically just dropped off the appetizer without saying anything and didn't check in on us until my boyfriend flagged her down to order some actual food. the pizza was good for what we got. we each had 2 slices and asked for the check. if you're really hungry, don't come here. easily waited 20-30 minutes between each interaction with her and was only nice at the end.
google avatar

Maggie M.

Yelp
Food was fantastic and service was great! Will definitely be our first choice for Chicago style pizza in the future!
google avatar

Deborah Y.

Yelp
Best pizza in Des Moines by far. Real Chicago style pizza worth going out for! We love their veggie pizza but I've never had a bad pizza from here.
google avatar

Kristin B.

Yelp
This review isn't for the pizza or the service. The pizza is amazing and I've never had a bad server there. This review is about ordering online. I' was not happy that they charged me a carry-out fee. Is this for the box?? If I ate in the restaurant, they would've given me a box to put my leftovers in for free. What the heck is a convenience fee? Why did I have to pay this?? It's definitely not convenient for me! And then they ask if you want to leave a tip! For carryout? No effing way! They are gouging people left and right!
google avatar

Taysia B.

Yelp
Went back here after not having gone since I was a kid. The deep dish tasted exactly how I remembered it from years ago, and that's a great thing! Definitely made some upgrades on aesthetics since the last time I came in. Only complaint was with service. The host kept walking away when we got there, and overall unbothered. Server was ambivalent as well, and we rarely saw her and couldn't even see her walking around to get her attention. It was crowded so maybe she just was busy, but if that was the case why'd we never see her? Food was great. However, I've been taught that kindness is free, but it must not be here.
google avatar

Holly R.

Yelp
Literally stopped ordering from there after 30 years. They have gone wayyyy downhill as far as food and service is legit horrendous. I never complain but this place goes way back .
google avatar

Enrique R.

Yelp
Soups are out of the can and no further ingredients are added. Don't recommend their soups. Their pasta and cottage cheese salads were good and enjoyable.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I just had a horrible experience at this restaurant. I have been going here for years and I've always had great experiences even when they're super busy. And I've never tipped less than 20%. I sat down at the bar and the server completely ignored me until I finally left 25 minutes later. It was a strangest thing I've ever had happen at a restaurant. It wasn't like she didn't see me sitting there. One of my favorite pizzas in Des Moines but it will be a long time before I go back. I have never been treated so rudely.

Maria H.

Yelp
I love F&O!! My favorite is the Guinea Grinder. My husband likes everything he has had so far. We love coming here.
google avatar

Hannah V.

Yelp
Came here for a family party and really enjoyed it! The parking situation is not great in the area, farther away, tons of pot holes and traffic. The inside has tons of seating and lots of TV's to watch sports. We got several pizzas for our group and pretzel bites. The pretzels were good and I liked the think crust and deep dish pizzas. I didn't like the way they make their taco pizza. Our server was nice but forgot several things so we felt like we had to keep reminding them. Overall, good food and would probably come back!
google avatar

Emma C.

Yelp
The pizza here is very good if Chicago deep dish is what you're craving. Servers were very sweet and accommodating for our big family. Ambiance was a bit odd because there was no background noise at all so I felt like we had to be quiet and that I could hear other people's conversations. The front door was all smashed in with broken glass still in the window, so that was a little odd, too. Next time we'll just get the pizza to go.

Clark C.

Yelp
I always get a great meal and service when we come here. I have brought friends here and they comment positively also. Been coming here since the late 70's.

Jen I.

Yelp
F&O's is our preferred caterer for many reasons beyond just how good their food is. We have used them for small lunches and large events, and they are always consistent on food quality and reliability. In addition to that, the guys who deliver the food are about as nice and helpful as they get. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to be able to send an email or pick up the phone and know we are in good hands. Thank you, Tom, and everyone at F&O's! - Jen
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
Amazing pizza and good service. My company uses them as a primary source of catering for events and they never disappoint!

Antonio A.

Yelp
Company catered to us and I tried their dinner menu. Rice was over cooked and was mushy. Salad was bland. Steak was okay. Fruits were delicious. Bread was bland. Steak and rice being their main entree was disappointing for simply for not cooking the meal correctly.
google avatar

Fatboy S.

Yelp
Have gotten take out here before when in town and have always been happy with the food and service. Gotta say - consistently good pizzas here. Def will be back when I need my deep dish fix.
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
We bae been eating here for over 5 years and the food is consistently good. We normally get their pizza and chicken wings!
google avatar

Karin L.

Yelp
I got started on Felix and Oscar's pizza when I was young, so I'll give my parents credit for that! Just a simple sports bar, nothing fancy, with great pizza. Obviously the reason people come here over other pizza places is the Chicago style deep dish pizza. And they do it well - in my opinion the best Chicago style pizza in Des Moines. The sauce is incredible - and if you're going to do Chicago style pizza right, the sauce must be on point. Great pasta and other menu items too - cold beer, great pizza, overall a nice casual place to hang out.
google avatar

Luke M.

Yelp
Came here for a friends retirement party. Furnishings are simple but nice. Sign on the door explains that a 45min wait on deep dish pizzas, and now I see why! Wow that's deep! Between deep crust and toppings piled high that thing was 3 inches tall on my plate. We had several different pizzas to try. Some thin crust some deep. BBQ chicken was good but my favorite was a huge deep dish meat pizza with large flat chunks of delicious sausage on it. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. I will return when I can.
google avatar

Jillissa M.

Yelp
Came here for a retirement party on a Sunday night. They had blocked off the north part of the restaurant for the festivities. They had a table set up with ice and pop varieties in pitchers. The pop was actually flat and was warm having it sit out the while time. They had ordered tons of pizzas that just kept coming out as people ate them. The pizzas were amazing. The taco was my favorite in a deep dish. Absolutely worth a try if you're in the area.

Rachel A.

Yelp
Thee best pizza sauce!! First time having deep dish loved it! And that cheese topper wow if you like a lot of cheese!! Only 4 because I'm not huge crust eater and if I was it wasn't that great but I'll definitely try it again!

Yelp
COMPLAINT. I would like someone from F&O's to contact me via Yelp or phone (515-771-1896). I really appreciate F&O offering gluten free options, but they have a track record of cross-contaminating gluten free food and getting people like myself with Celiac disease sick. My complaint refers to my last visit to F&O's when I ordered their chicken salad and asked for no crotons telling the waitress I had celiac disease. 30 minutes later (yikes!) she brings out the salad with a breadstick laying across the top. Okay, that's fine. Mistakes happen. I politely ask her if she can make a new one and she reluctantly takes it back. A minute later she brings out a 'fresh' one assuring me it was a new salad. Shocker, I ended up getting horribly sick that night and all of Thanksgiving Day. I would like someone from F&O's management to contact me about what they think happened. Because I'm really considering not visiting this establishment again and I'd advise others with Celiac disease to STAY AWAY FROM F&O's.

Steve L.

Yelp
Great place to watch a game. Vikings or Chiefs are the main teams to watch there. They have a Chicago deep dish pizza that's pretty tasty.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
We ordered to go: kids chicken fingers and a thin crust pizza. I know F & O s is known for their deep dish, but the thin crust is so gross. It's like cheap Bisquick mix and the cheese wasn't melted very well. The chicken fingers are where it's at. Probably the best I've had in a while. Probably not a place I will repeat eating at/from.
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
A bit off their game with my take out pizza. I've gone to F & O's for quite a while and the pizza has always been good. Today not so much. I got a take out Beef and Onion and was a bit disappointed. The crust was right on but the scarce toppings and limited sauce and especially limited cheese was disappointing. In fact the cheese used even seemed different and almost artificial. Very limited use of cheese too. Maybe supply issues... Anyway I was disappointed in the end result when I am used to the best.
google avatar

Kristeena J.

Yelp
Best deep dish pizza in Des Moines! The sausage they use on their pizza are big slices and delicious. I also love the creamy parMesan dressing. The space is large with lots of tvs that distract my children which is nice too.

Don W.

Yelp
The food was good enough. However, once you get your meal good luck trying to get the attention of your server after that, or getting attitude from them once you do.
google avatar

Athena M.

Yelp
Best Chicago style pizza I've ever had--better than the Chicago pizza I had in Chicago!! If you're in the DSM area, this is *THE* spot to order from. Takeout experience was wonderful and friendly. I'll be back!
