"Faraway opened in summer 2023, reinvigorating the Kelley House, one of the country’s most historic inns. The property comprises charming lodging properties, as well as three dining experiences, and a pool and patio, all combining in a magical campus environment. The Newes From America pub traces its history back to the 1700s." - Travel + Leisure Editors

"Why book? This gut renovation of the historic (if a bit tired) Kelley House brings a much-needed breath of fresh air to downtown Edgartown. Set the scene New Englanders are slow to accept change–especially in historic towns, and especially on islands. So when buzzy Boston-based real estate firm Blue Flag partners acquired the six buildings compromising the iconic Kelley House in 2020, more than a few Edgartown eyebrows were raised. This hotel, after all, was 300 years old, dating back to a pre-Revolutionary time when whaling captains built their fortunes on the high seas, and would return to Martha’s Vineyard to live large in their lavish homes. The Kelley House stood in the middle of downtown Edgartown, and was the kind of landmark that generations of Vineyard-goers would return to summer after summer. So when it changed hands, the most devout Edgartonians couldn’t help but wonder how its next act would change one of the most historic, charming towns in the country. The backstory Luckily, Blue Flag did with Faraway Martha’s Vineyard what it does best: they operated the Kelley House more or less as usual for a year in order to acclimate to the community, and then brought the property into the 21st century with a to-the-studs renovation, and this summer relaunched it as the Faraway brand’s second property (Nantucket was the first). The result is something that both design-minded, social media-savvy jet setters and even the saltiest locals can get behind. The rooms The design is spot on—think New England seaside fantasia. At both of its locations, Faraway appears to pose the design question: what does modern maritime look like? The answer lies not within the tired, stereotypical realms of blue and white stripes and anchor-shaped cabinet knobs, but in the idea of living close to the sea, reveling in its textures, and celebrating the treasures you bring home from your explorations. Rooms are done in neutral tones replete with cozy textures, with international inflections like carved-wood accents and fringed, shaggy throw pillows and rugs. There are great finishing touches including linens by Bellino, Byredo bath amenities, Apple TVs, refrigerators, and Bluetooth-enabled turntables with a few records for chasing those perfect seaside vibes. Rates start at $599 per night. The best room to book is a Studio Suite not in the main building, but in the neighboring Chappy House. It features vaulted ceilings and a private deck overlooking the pool area and Edgartown harbor. Food and drink If locals felt protective about Kelley House, they felt positively threatened over the beloved Newes from America pub located on the hotel’s ground floor. As the second oldest pub in the country, it’s a piece of American history; thankfully, while F&B is one of Blue Flag’s strongest suits, very little about this beloved tavern has changed aside from a few welcome updates to the menu. Highlights include: scallops and pork belly with tarragon beurre blanc, fiery peri-peri chicken, and lobster roll (with an ‘even more lobster’ option for an additional $12). It’s also worth noting that, any day now, pending final approval of its liquor license, Faraway Martha’s Vineyard will open Pelican Club, an outdoor cocktail and sushi lounge, literally and metaphorically opposite from Newes from America. While Pelican Club wasn’t open when we visited, we did get to walk through the space and sample a fizzy gin cocktail: it’s safe to say that once this spot opens, it’s going to be the most popular place in town for a post-beach tipple. The neighborhood/area The location couldn’t be better; Kelley House was part of the fabric of downtown Edgartown, and Faraway is sure to feel the same. Here, you’re literally adjacent to the Chappaquiddick Ferry dock, and steps to all that Edgartown has to offer. Hop on over to neighboring Mad Martha’s for ice cream, Murdick’s for fudge, and the adorable Edgartown Books for beach reads. Dinner at nearby seasonally-driven restaurant The Covington is an absolute must. The service The service is friendly and warm without being overly reverential. You’ll feel like it’s OK to ask any of the staff about where they’d go for a drink or their favorite spots on the island. For families Faraway definitely skews towards a more grown-up clientele, but there some of the larger multi-bedroom suites are built with bunk beds ideal for stowing away the little ones. Families traveling with younger children may also want to check out the Winnetu Oceanside Resort, located on a quiet stretch of South Beach a few miles south of town, which offers a dedicated Children’s Program. Accessibility While there is no elevator in the centuries-old buildings which make up Faraway Martha’s Vineyard, there are a number of ADA accessible rooms on the main floor. The gardens in front of the hotel’s lobby feature an integrated ramp, which feels less like an afterthought and more like a carefully integrated part of the architecture. Anything left to mention? The L-shaped main building once curved around a sad parking lot with dumpster, which has been replaced with a fantastic, sprawling salt-water pool and hot tub area complete with cabanas and a snack counter. It might just be one of the best places to take a dip in the entire Cape and Islands regions—except for the Atlantic, which is right there, of course." - Todd Plummer

I stayed at Faraway Martha’s Vineyard for two days this week, and from the moment I stepped into the lobby, I knew I was somewhere special. The signature scent alone sets the tone—coastal, calming, and subtly luxurious. It’s the kind of fragrance you wish you could bottle up and bring home.||||The staff here radiate the kind of hospitality that feels genuine, never forced. Every interaction—from check-in to poolside service—was met with warmth and grace. You can tell they care, and that makes all the difference.||||My room was a dream—thoughtfully designed, with beautiful textures, plush bedding, and little details that quietly say, you’re cared for here. I slept deeply both nights, lulled by the softness of the linens and the quiet charm of the surroundings.||||And the pool… it’s an oasis. Crisp water, comfortable loungers, and a sense of ease that makes you want to stay all afternoon. Whether you're unwinding with a book or just soaking in the Vineyard light, it's the perfect hideaway.||||Faraway doesn’t just provide a place to stay—it creates a feeling. A lingering sense of peace, nostalgia, and quiet luxury. I’ll be back, no doubt.

We loved our stay here. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel with a great staff in a great location. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi with great lounge and food options and especially appreciated the readily available water and sunscreen. Only issue we had was no elevator. As we were traveling with two little ones, it was a bit inconvenient to trek their stroller and things up and down stairs.

Google
Everyone at the hotel was very nice and accommodating, but management went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for during our stay. They handled all sorts of situations and guest needs with grace, understanding, and efficiency. It made a difference in how well the hotel was kept. The rooms were nice, and the pool area is the highlight!

I’ve never had better service in my life! I got engaged during our stay and the Faraway staff left a lovely hand written note and champagne for us to celebrate!! Top notch service, lovely room and incredible amenities! We will be back every summer!

Very charming rooms. Staff was excellent. Decor was very nice. Pool was small but relaxing with a large hot tub adjacent to the pool. Location was perfect right in the middle of I Edgartown.

Absolutely amazing stay! Sam was amazingly attentive to everything. Front desk, housekeeping and all employees I interacted with were great and super friendly. Amazing amenities! Will tell everyone to book here!

Google
Pros: fantastic location, cute, boutique vibe, size of rooms for being in a refurbished building was excellent. Cons: service was very spotty, some staff seemed confused and clueless on how to deal with normal hotel requests, pillows and bedding are absolutely terrible (pillows feel like ginormous bricks that gave me a sore neck after just one night, and there are no alternative options). Staff claims that one pillow is soft and one is hard but either we only had the hard ones or there is very little discernible difference. Walls are paper thin. Every dog, child, and person walking by feels like they are parading through your room.

Google
Love this hotel and Edgartown! Especially the location and the swimming pool. It was walkable to everything wonderful, including the beach where I saw a Horseshoe Crab for the first time. It was just steps from the waterfront and truly a wonderfully comfortable and lux experience. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Can't say enough about how great my stay was at Faraway. The room was great, and the service was excellent. The location was perfect...in close proximity to everything. Eva at the front desk and other staff members were truly a pleasure to deal with and so accommodating. Would stay here again without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edgartown.

Yelp
Jermaine took great care of us - From the welcome drink to renting bikes. The rooms were nice - very comfortable. Super convenient - enjoyed a bike ride to the next town - and the lobster roll at the seafood shanty (right across the street) came back and enjoyed the hot tub - had it all to ourselves. So much to do and the location is right in the middle of everything but feels like a quiet oasis. Overall very friendly staff and nice accommodations- highly recommend.

Yelp
Just left the Vineyard. We stayed one night at Faraway. The property is brand new fully renovated! The rooms are modern and stunning! The location is amazing close to everything Edgartown has to offer. The staff was warm professional and helpful. My daughter has been staying there for a couple weeks. She loves it as well. This is a gem. I cannot wait to go back! Just a heads up. There is no elevator so if you have mobility issues this might not be the best choice.

Yelp
We booked a last minute trip to Faraway Martha's Vineyard and we're so glad we did. The staff is helpful, the hotel is newly renovated, rooms are spacious and the pool is also great! The location of the hotel is a 1 minute walk to the ferry super convenient for those with little kids. They also had a pack a play ready (which I'd emailed the hotel prior to checking in) all in all, everything was wonderful. My husband dropped his phone and keys in the lobby and they were able to retrieve them and ship them to us the next day :) we will definitively be coming back.

Yelp
Pros: Perfect location. Within walking distance of shops and restaurants in Edgartown. Awesome toiletries The room has a fridge The window AC unit worked well The room was spacious They have bar right next to the pool Cookies, Milk and tea from 5-9. Keurig in room In the mornings they have muffins and coffee in the lobby. Cons: Shower doesn't have a door it's hard to gauge the water No elevator We arrived via Lyft around 915pm. We were immediately greeted and checked in. They had just finished their milk and cookie hour, but the lady was nice enough to get me some cookies to snack on since we were starving. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, but it's only three floors and the staff assisted with the bags The room was big and clean. The bed was comfortable. The toiletries were great. They lathered well and smelled great. The room didn't look dated like some of the reviews stated, but I think I read they had just been remodeled. I definitely recommend this hotel. Don't look anywhere else. Tip: There's a few liquor stores nearby if you're looking for inexpensive drinks There's a fast food sea food restaurant (Quarterdeck) right across the street from the bar that serves food late into the night

Yelp
Pretty disappointing considering how expensive this place is, we paid $380 for 1 night and you're really just paying for the good location which is in the heart of Edgartown. The room wasn't exciting, pretty boring and no tub. Overall it wasn't decorated great and the paint job was poorly done. Be aware of rooms overlooking the outdoor bar area!! From 8pm-1am there was incredibly loud music from below that was so loud you could make out every word and the bass was practically shaking the room. Super disappointing to pay that much for a room you can't even get sleep in. The walls were also very thin and we could make out every word our neighbors were saying. We'll be trying another hotel next time

Bridanya E.

Yelp
Good memories at the restaurant! I even wrote about it once for a class assignment :)

Yelp
I normally don't post bad reviews, especially during a pandemic. Pandemic or not some things I can not let go. If I could give this place negative or no stars I would. Me and my fiancé just had an intimate wedding in Edgartown. Our family and toddler stood at this hotel since our hotel did not allow kids. Never had I felt staff lack hospitality, common sense or courtesy like the staff at the Kelly House. One example, my dad (who is blind) had just checked out at 11 am and he left his bags at the lobby. At 12 noon he wanted to use a restroom was denied access since "he checked out". Was told to "find somewhere outside that has a bathroom". Never asked to help with luggage. Never opened doors. Never made eye contact or a hello, or a good morning. Continental breakfast normally consist of more than two items. In this case it was burnt coffee and some sweet muffin for which you have to ask for one by one. If your in a group of 4 or 5 and one person asks for a muffin don't you think you should ask if others from the group want any? So let's say you're an introvert who doesn't care about courtesy or a false advertised continental breakfast, or any form of hospitality. You just want a clean/nice place to sleep and leave. Well this place is not it. You have to tell the staff to clean. They only cleaned our room once during a 4 night stay.

M L.

Yelp
Prime location, newly renovated rooms. Downfall is the musty smelling room. We stayed on the first floor, closet area especially stinky. They seem to infuse the lobby with a lovely scent but the musty odor is overwhelming when walk into your hotel room. Hoping to get the stink out our clothes when we get home. Great bar and small pool onsite.

Brad H.

Yelp
I've stayed here several times and it's perfect. Prime parking location, nice rooms, great all around service, outdoor pool and bar area, and right on the water in the downtown edgartown area close to anything you'd need. Will most definitely be back

Yelp
We stayed at the Kelley House over April vacation and had the best time! The 2 bedroom suite was perfect for our family of 5; the layout was very comfortable (and modern!) and the view from the deck was amazing! The kids room had two double beds and our room had a king size bed- and the mattresses were very comfortable. Each bedroom had their own television and access to their own bathroom as well. We enjoyed breakfast on the large deck each morning, but there was also a table inside the suite we could use in case it got cold. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and we felt very safe with all the COVID protocols they have in place. We enjoyed takeout from The Newes and everyone (including the three young kiddos) ate everything- the chicken tenders (for the kids) and the 1742 Burger are highly recommended!! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back again!

Yelp
Kelly House has a great location, but this does not make up for the lack of up keep. I stayed here for a long duration that allowed me to see lots of problems. The electrical is scary. At times during my stay I was afraid a fire would start because of this. The fans in bathrooms sound horrible and go in and out. The hallway lighting flickers when you open or close the front door. There are several sockets that don't work altogether... One with burn marks. There are zip ties holding up one of the window shades. The painting was done very poorly. Spots are splotchy, and lines crooked, and cracks in ceiling. The worst part about my stay is the mold! I reported a mold problem in the up stairs bathroom. Maintenance came and painted over the spot. A few weeks later the 6" mold spot came back. I reported the problem again and again it was painted over. I am checking out today and sad to say the mold spot is back and has outlasted me. There is also mushroom type fungus growing in the downstairs bathroom. There is a washer and dryer that is located so you can rest your head on it while using the restroom. Needless to say, this is not a nice place to stay especially for the price!

Laura C.

Yelp
The staff are exceptionally friendly here and the decor was nice. You can't beat the location for Edgartown. The real dampners for me are the paper thin walls and the curtains are the wrong size. They don't close properly to block out the light which is what we needes when trying to get away and destress with some meaningful sleep. This may not bother anyone else, but it does mean we would look into other accommodations.

Bob L.

Yelp
Buyer Beware. Call ahead of time to confirm renovations are complete. For this amount of money you should get what you pay for. This is a view of the lobby, stairs and halls. Not at all what the website shows. The manager on duty Adam was new (had been there a month) and was told all renovations would be complete by April 1st before he transferred to this hotel. Well, the joke was on him and anyone else planning to stay at this hotel now or in the next six months. As you can see by the photos which were taken on June 3rd, 2017 the place is far from renovated. Adam was told the renovations were complete before he arrived and was totally surprised to find out they were not. (See:hoodwinked) He readily admitted he had been trying to "nip it in the bud" by offering discounted rates per order of management! Ridiculous. He did everything he could to make things right and really went above and beyond - but the poor guy is fighting a losing battle. The owner of this hotel cannot be owned by a professional and should leave it to people who know what they are doing. Adam is the one shining star in an otherwise sh#% show of a business. Staffed by kids, loud partying going on at all hours. We should have been told ahead of time the condition of hotel, else we would have found another place to stay - but that's why we WEREN'T told. Sad. #kelleyhousefail

Leeyen R.

Yelp
TIP: The Kelley House is UNDER CONSTRUCTION. We were not told about the construction when we made the reservation, and when we checked in were surprised to see that at least the entire first floor was under construction. Construction workers were walking around, drilling etc. It would loud and the floors were all unfinished. Call before booking here to ask if the construction is still going on. Giving the review more than 1 star because of how apologetic and nice the manager was.

Nicole A.

Yelp
We stayed at Kelley house for the Memorial day weekend. Everyone who worked at Kelly House was great! The Service at the reception from Checking in and checking out was easy. Mariana McCormack( Mari) was absolutely delightful, she was outstanding in her empathy towards our needs, she went above and beyond to help me during my stay by easing check in, getting me oriented about the area, best restaurants, yoga place, walking trails. She provided the best of her ability to make my stay more comfortable! I will definitely be back!

Courtland B.

Yelp
Our overall experience at The Kelley House was unbelievable. We knew the trip would be great - but it was made even better by the staff at KH. Bonnie and Sarah made sure we had everything we needed to explore and enjoy the island. What is different about KH is that they are so approachable to helping you plan your trip and always open to give you honest feedback about what to do and where to go when you get there. The concierge was incredible at helping us, the location of the hotel was second to none, the market and pub make booking here a no-brainer. The hospitality provided makes you barely need to leave the hotel property to enjoy your stay, but when you do you can see all the gorgeous things Edgartown has to offer within walking distance. If I were coming to MV without a car - this is where I would most highly-recommend staying. Can't say enough about the atmosphere, amenities and services of this hotel and how they continue to improve. Looking forward to coming back soon :)

Yelp
Great location for doing things in downtown Edgartown. We have stayed here a few times and would definitely stay again on another vineyard trip.

Jessica W.

Yelp
This hotel has a beautiful entry and appears to be trying to establish itself as an artist gallery. It's located in a great area of Martha's Vineyard. I would highly recommend the area for shopping and restaurants. Unfortunately the hotel itself I would put on par with a Best Western and an old Best Western at that. This isn't to say that it's horrible or dirty. Quite the contrary the rooms are quaint and clean. However, the heat is broken as has been mentioned in other posts. We counterbalanced the broken heat system with open windows. I do love the ocean breeze, so it wasn't much of a hardship. Also of probable important note is there is no elevator in this 3-story hotel. The walls are super thin which is a problem in such a romantic place. Unless of course you're into that sort of thing. Which we are. On a totally unrelated note thank you to the couple in 301 for such a great weekend! Seriously, though overall I would recommend the hotel if you have low expectations, don't need fancy things like regulated air and privacy and can walk up the flights of stairs easily. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean and again the area is perfect.

Jessica L.

Yelp
The Kelley House is an extremely convenient and solid option for staying in Edgartown. Pros: - Complimentary parking (though the parking lot can still be snug) - Complimentary Starbucks coffee and muffins each morning, and cookies and milk in the evening - Nice pool with fun bar - Very central to downtown so it's easy to walk to restaurants and shops - Reception area has historic charm (though rest of hotel is pretty standard) - Refrigerators in rooms I think this is a great option if you want a really easy spot to stay in on Martha's Vineyard and want the convenience of walking to dinner and hitting up the pool in case the beach is windy/chilly. It is not the most romantic spot I have ever seen, so it's more about accessibility and convenience than charm. We got a nice deal with it wasn't high season but I don't think I would necessarily shell out $$$ since this would be considered a fairly standard hotel on the mainland.

Kelly S.

Yelp
Beautiful historic boutique hotel with good sized, spotless and well equipped rooms decorated to to an excellent standard. Great location, minutes from shops and restaurants. Parking can be limited and awkward to find at busy times due to size and location of parking lots, not helped by a confusing one way system. Nice touch by the hotel that did not provide breakfast, to provide complimentary muffins and coffee in the mornings and milk/cookies in the early evening.

Charles T.

Yelp
I went here for a short stay in January. Not exactly peak season but I was wonderfully surprised at how much I enjoyed my stay. It was cold and raining out and we where greeted by a nice fire, fresh cookies and a festive Christmas tree. The decor was fresh and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We went and had dinner at the adjoining restaurant / pub. There was a another nice warm fire, friendly staff and good beers on tap. - It you happen to be traveling to Marthas Vineyard in the winter it is a great spot to get snowed in.

G. Scott B.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Even though it was originally opened in 1742, it has clearly been renovated very recently. Every aspect of the hotel felt very nice, luxurious and comfortable. Unfortunately we went during October so the pool was closed, however I imagine that during the summer the pool would be great especially consider the nice poolside bar. Finally, the milk and cookies served every evening are fantastic, do not miss out on them!

Bernadette K.

Yelp
One would expect to not have to look at gross stains on the carpet in their room at these prices

Becca C.

Yelp
I stayed here with some family for a friend's wedding in June. At the advice of the bride and groom, I booked our room in late January/early February, to make sure that we had a room for that particular weekend. During the 4+ months between booking and our stay, I was never contacted by the hotel. The day of our check-in, we come to find out that the hotel is undergoing significant renovations, including in the hotel lobby, and that one of the reasons that they were forced to renovate was because of mold. I asked the manager why we weren't contacted to give us the option to stay somewhere else, with the mold, construction dust, paint fumes, etc, all being health hazards. He made an excuse that they didn't have time to call any of their guests, and then offered to give us 50% off our stay. I took the discount, but I would've much rather stayed somewhere else! The room that they did have us stay in was clearly in dire need of renovation as well -- strong smell of mildew/mold, holes in the walls, shabby/delapidated furniture. And what's more, they clearly needed to fumigate! Over the course of our three-day stay, we saw (and killed) several "thousand-leggers" (centipedes that eat roaches, bed bugs, and termites!). Kelley House was purchased in December 2016, and clearly the new owner(s) is/are not ready for guests! The pool was filthy (and therefore not open), and the lobby unusable, never mind the horrible state of our room. I'm glad that my family were such troopers in having fun in spite of the conditions of our lodging. Even at 50% off, it was a complete waste of money to stay in a health hazard.

Emma O.

Yelp
I've stayed here a few times before, and it is always the best place to stay in Edgartown. You cannot beat the location for staying in town. Love the bedtime milk and cookies, and the recent addition of the Wave pool bar was a nice surprise this year. The bathrooms could use some renovations.

Bill R.

Yelp
Great hotel. Big spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Right near all the shops and the water. Warm fresh muffins and coffee in the lobby in the morning. Enjoyed talking about ghosts with the night staff. We really enjoyed our stay, will look to stay here again next time.

Carlos N.

Yelp
While the Kelley House is PHENOMENAL as a hotel, with its exceptional service, its Wave Pool Bar has a lot to learn. The service is very slow and a real disappointment

Mishae L.

Yelp
Joanne at the front desk is amazing. The sweetest person I've meet in MA. The hotel is sooo beautiful

Peter I.

Yelp
First the good stuff. This is a great location...possibly the best on the island if you want to be in Edgartown and need to go back and forth to Chappy. It also gets high marks for front desk service...everyone is very knowledgeable and friendly. The main bedrooms are also nice, clean, reasonably updated and spacious. The problem is really value, even if you factor in the seasonal MV gouging. If you're paying $400+ for a hotel, do you expect to have linoleum floors in your bathroom and mold in the corners of your bathtub? Do you expect to have a bathroom that wouldn't be out of place in a $40/night Days Inn in central Kansas? Do you expect to pay an extra $30/day to take out one of the bikes? I don't. I personally wouldn't go back to the Kelley House because I expect more at this price level. I know MV is famous for it's comically ratty $250/night bed and breakfasts but, at this price level, a few nights can pay for at least a low end bathroom update that would at least bring the hotel into what would be expected at half the price. I feel like you have the right to expect a certain level of quality at the $400+ price point regardless of where you are.

Betsy P.

Yelp
Loved the KELLEY HOUSE! When your in Martha's Vineyard, you have to stay in Edgartown where the Kelley House and the Harborview Hotel are located. We reserved the Courthouse which is a 2 bedroom suite that is equipped with everything we needed. From Fridge, to washer and dryer, along with 2 bedrooms/2 baths, outside grill, plus it was walking distance to everything from restaurants, shopping and bars. Charlotte who worked at the front desk and I'm sure wore many hats, was such a sweet and wonderful lady who was always there to help us with whatever we needed. BRAVO to the entire Kelley House staff for doing an outstanding job. Whether you are going on your trip to Martha's Vineyard with your family or as a couple, the Kelley House will not disappoint. The rooms were completely remodeled, clean and spacious. Our entire experience was simply fabulous.

Ruthie B.

Yelp
I honestly cannot say enough nice things about the Kelley House (how can I give it 6 stars?!). From even before we arrived we were welcomed with such warmth and hospitality. I traveled from out of state with some friends for a 30th birthday, and the staff at the Kelley House made every effort to make sure we all felt special. I would especially like to thank Scott and Sarah who took extra steps to help us arrange fun outings and meals. The hotel itself is perfectly located in Edgartown with a short walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, etc. And don't forget the warm cookies every night! Counting the days until I can go back.

Yelp
Kelley house was a great experience. Just a few steps away from the picturesque views of the Katama Bay. I stayed 3 nights. Each day we received a list of events for the day and complementary coffee tea and something to go with it. The staff went above and beyond my expectations. Pool was nice and accompanied by a low key outdoor bar with drinks and food. I would highly recommend Kelley house it's a wonderful place to stay in Edgartown.

Yelp
The Kelley House is where I've stayed since my first visit to Edgartown back in 2001. When tracing my family roots, I found that my family ran the hotel and pub back in the 1700's. I've stayed at the Kelley House on a number of occasions covering every season of the year. There has been ownership change and management changes throughout the years. Each team has been fantastic. My family is always treated like family. I watch interaction between other guests and the staff. They're family also. I'll stay no where else on Martha's Vineyard.

Yelp
This was our second time staying here. The first was last year for Memorial Day weekend, and we had a great time! Unfortunately, this year was a let down. The front desk staff was very friendly and the location was perfect, however, we were really disappointed several times. The bathroom was dirty and had hair and crumbs all over it when we first arrived. The rooms just don't really look clean in general. It's a very old building and I don't expect it to be perfect, but the rooms don't look well taken care of. There was no air conditioning in the room which made it pretty miserable trying to sleep. The attached pub was closed due to "technical difficulties." Housekeeping just never came the entire weekend. We were gone all day and even put the service sign on our door, and they didn't come. We noticed that all the other rooms had the signs out as well and those weren't cleaned either. The walls are extremely thin, so you can hear everything your neighbors are doing and can hear everyone in the hall. I would definitely not stay here again!

Yelp
It being our first time on Martha's Vineyard, I'm glad we chose the Kelly House. It's location is perfect for shopping, restaurants, the Edgartown lighthouse, and the bus stop. Upon checking in, we were greeted by Naomi. Kudos to the Kelly House for having such an awesome person working at their front desk! She not only made us feel welcome, but was very informative with suggestions of things to do and restaurants to try. Our room, #216, had a nice view of the pool and the ocean (in the distance). The room could use some help. The desk chair felt like you may fall through, and the drain to our tub was completely backed up. Aside from those two minor issues, everything else was great! The bed was comfortable, it being not to hard or soft. The pillows were so soft (my husband wasn't a fan of them since he prefers something firmer), but I loved them! The room was clean, and there was cable and free wi-fi. We would definitely return for any future vacations to Martha's Vineyard!

Yelp
We had such a great weekend here. It may have been slightly off season (mid-April) but the service and accommodations were exceptional. We'll definitely be coming back.

Yelp
We booked in early March for the first weekend in March. I called the Kelley House directly and received the Call Center. The Kelley House representative booked us at the Harbor View by mistake (since they were both under the same management and used the same booking system). By the time I got wind of this mistake, we couldn't get a room at the Kelley House. The representatives from the hotel were disappointingly unhelpful. Our romantic getaway to the Vineyard we've been looking forward to for 3 months isn't happening because of a mistake by a customer service representative. We will not book again.

Yelp
Right downtown. Rustic atmosphere. Fireplace burning inside in the colder months. Great staff, good food, excellent beer on tap. Also try the ousted seating if weather permits.

Yelp
This beautiful, quiet, homey hotel is exactly what my family needed. It was in a great location surrounded by quaint shops (although be warned, most of the island is closed in May). It's also a couple of minutes walking distance from the Edgartown lighthouse. We had warm chocolate cookies and milk at night, and muffins in the mornings. I also need to mention The Newes from America restaurant attached to the hotel. It was the best food we had all weekend. The French Onion soup was fantastic! The waitress was wonderful. The hotel was getting a fresh coat of paint while we were there. As mentioned before it was the off season.

Yelp
Our family of five stayed here in June of 2019. We went through Expedia and said that there were five in our family. Upon checking in, we saw our room and were shocked to find only two queen beds. We asked where the fifth person was to stay and were told a rollaway would be $25 per night extra! The A/C was not working. We told the front desk and it was never fixed. For the price, we did not think it was worth it. The night deskman was extremely friendly and talked with us as we sat and had cookies (a nice touch) the first night. The day staff however does not interact with guests much, say hello, welcome, nothing... We loved the Vineyard but next time would stay elsewhere.

Yelp
This is a quaint hotel with a boatload of charm and centrally located for easy access to everything worthwhile on the vineyard. Employees are great and I loved the lack of "chain hotels" so you can really feel a part of the area. Great atmosphere and a wine festival right outside its doors. Made me wanna skip my conference. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Our favorite place to stay on the vineyard. The rooms are spacious and the staff are amazing. Especially at the craft table by the pool. Our daughter spent hours there with the nice people who entertained her. Everyone was so nice. The restaurant was very good too. However, nothing beats the location. Walk to everywhere in downtown Edgartown. We will be back again next year. Ps., Bonnie at the front desk was awesome.

Yelp
So we booked this hotel because of it's good reviews and seemed like a nice place to stay for a night. We were a group of 6 girls on a girls only weekend. As we got down from our cab in front of the hotel, there was this guy who said he was staff at the hotel but was off that day. He seemed so very creepy and offered to help with our luggage. We thought we were just being paranoid and let him help. He did not leave even after that and started asking questions with an intent to hang out with us. He creeped us out. At one point we thought he was high! We started checking in at the front desk. To the woman who was working at this hotel as a receptionist at the front desk ( on June 4th, 2017 at 3.30 pm) you were a horrible receptionist to us. She started giving out details like for how long we were staying at this hotel to this creepy off duty dude and we were scared for life looking at her face and the looks she was giving us while she talked to the creepy dude. She gave us evil looks and honestly it looked like she was pimping us out. You are a horrible horrible woman. When I asked for name and card from this woman, the creepy dude was looking into my face very closely and asked why would I need a card. I finally had enough and asked him to stay away from us and also that he was making us very uncomfortable. I'm glad he left us at this point. The hotel didnot have the amnities as listed. No bar, no pool ( pool was dirty), open windows everywhere, basically the hotel was under construction and we just got one copy of keys for one room. No trash bin in the bathroom, the AC did not work in one of the rooms we booked, telephone wasn't plugged in to call the front desk, power outlets were hardly working. Room temperature went to 80s and the thermostat just stopped working at all. When asked for 2 table fans, the guy just put one fan and disappeared. The manager says "Sorry we did not inform you about the construction, so here's 30% off!" Really? Staff here need to know how to do their job and how to treat customers. I hated to stay there but since we had plans and reservations in the places nearby this hotel, we had no other way to escape this hell. They just scared the hell out of us. Check-in process here ruined the whole fun and left us worrying the whole night. I had a very light sleep since I was afraid that someone might barge in. Also, the walls are very thin and someone in the night next to us very very rudely banged on the door and asked us not to talk at all. WHAT?! Me and my friends hated the night's stay and would not recommend to anyone. Stay safe somewhere else.

Yelp
Great Hotel ! Great location ! Clean . This hotel reminded me of a Marriott. Very courteous and helpful staff. I will definitely book this hotel again. This hotel is within walking distance and has a pool. The beaches at the vineyard are ok. If you want to relax poolside, this is it !

Yelp
This is a review for our most recent stay at the Kelley House. The service, again was excellent. Cookies and milk in the evenings and muffins and coffee in the mornings. It was too cold to use the pool, but it was very clean and looked inviting. Our first morning there were lots of noisy door-slamming on our floor, but I called the desk and alerted them and it stopped. I wish the room was cleaner. There was a spot on the bed skirt and the tub/shower could have used some extra attention. Last far everything in that department was perfect. Nothing to be alarmed about, I didn't even call the font desk...We will always stay at the Kelley House during our visits to the Vineyard.

Yelp
My burger was fantastic! Got in quickly too! Service was very quick also. Price was decent. We got in quickly. So I recommend this place:) The kelly house is on the edge of edgartown. Right off of north water street. So come on down!

Yelp
Perfect location, very quaint, and good service. If you're looking for a historic hotel right in the heart of Edgartown, then this is it. Although the rooms are clean and quaint, they are just slightly tired. I had an expectation of this, due to the seasonal nature of the hotel, so I was not disappointed. Overall I was very pleased based on location, charm, and historic relevance.

Yelp
Walking into the lobby you feel warm and fuzzy. It's a classy little Inn without the snobby feeling other fancy ones may have. It's extremely clean and the customer service was professional. Warm scones with great tea were served in the afternoon which I thought were delicious. They have a small continental breakfast in the mornings and cookies and milk at bedtime. The rooms are clean and well furnished, bathrooms a bit outdated but fine. The building itself is VERY old so every hour or so the lights dim as if a brown out were to occur but go back up again, I got used to it. My only complaint was the noise. I was on the ground floor and those upstairs sounded like elephants when walking around which interrupted the little sleep I had a chance to get which was a bummer. The walls are pretty thin also, I could hear quite a bit next door to me (luckilly they were family) So if you stay here, ask for an upstairs room. The location can't be beat, it's smack in the middle of Edgartown and you can walk to all local restaurants/shops and it's half a block from the waterfront.

Yelp
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. For starters, the hotel was under construction and not done when we stayed here last week. The lady at the front desk was nice which is about the only positive thing throughout our stay. Our room was dirty, which included hair on the floor and stained towels and sheets. And there was loud construction that kept us up from 5am on. Also housekeeping woke us up at 9am when our checkout wasn't until 12. The food served at the restaurant next door was awful and the mussels we received were raw and gave me food poisoning. To top it all off, about a week after we checked out, we were charged over $250 for a random stain on the mattress, with no proof it was from us. They did not provide us with any statement of where that price came from, and the lady we talked to was rude and sketchy about the charges. Bottom line, never stay here because they will scam you and blame you for prior problems.
