"Located on South Slope, Farewell focuses on exceptional pour-overs, colorful plants, and natural wine. During the day, enjoy a handcrafted latte or a glass of wine, and in the evening stick around when Nightcrawler, a craft cocktail pop-up, opens in its space with creative mixed drinks, such as the Monster Blood, loaded with tequila, beet, lime, and a chamoy rim. Remote-work friendly." - Lyndsay Cordell

Very nice little coffee shop. The location is great and has a decent amount of free parking around and near the building. The inside has lots of seating and is nicely decorated in a minimal style, and the space has lots of natural lighting. The works are friendly and the offerings at the coffee shop are good. I got a rose latte and a cinnamon oat cookie. The latte was 6-7$ after tip and the cookie was 5$. The music they play isn’t too loud and the general ambiance is nice. One of the best coffee shops in Asheville in my opinion :)

Google
Great coffee place. Beautiful corner space in a neat part of town with lots of open air, light, and plants. Coffee is superb. Only feedback is they only had 2 staff on a super slammed Sunday morning.

Google
Fantastic Cortado, lighter roast used for the espresso. Super smooth the whole way through and had no bitterness to it. Very cool little spot with a few outdoor tables as well. My wife got dril coffee, which was also fantastic!

Farewell nestles into the South Slope like a cat napping in the sun. The coffee is well roasted and the shots perfectly pulled making drinks rich and balanced without bitterness. My pastry didn’t rewrite the book on sweets, but settled nicely between sweet and buttery. The staff approached their craft with care, each drink served hot but not scalding and tastefully adorned. The ambience cuddles into the hillside, plants draping from windowsills and espresso machine group heads growing organically from the countertop. Parking is the only challenge; prepare for a multi-block hike and perhaps to wait for a seat. This locale attracts knitters and students, workers and friends. If you come you’ll find yourself curiously content to stay a while.

Best cappuccino ever with breve. Small cup, mighty taste! Excellent flavor with no sweetener. Great corner location, too. Easy, welcoming vibe.

Google
Delicious and quality food + great service. Has indoor and outdoor seating (not covered). Dogs can stay inside as well, assuming they are well behaved/calm. I highly recommend the plain croissant (warmed) and the Veggie Quiche (warmed).

Google
Vibes were immaculate, love the indoor/outdoor feel with the open window area. Very aesthetic and just great vibes all around. The ham and cheese croissant was delicious and I had a great time :)

Google
wow. this coffee shop was AMAZING!! I literally just typed in "coffee near me" on google when I was in Asheville and when my friends and I showed up to this place we were in awe. this has got to be the best coffee place I've ever been to. from the coffee and plants to the industrial look and great service, this place was incredible. you will not regret coming here. the coffee tastes so good and I would drive all the way from Florida back to Asheville some day just to come to this coffee shop. it's absolutely fantastic!

Yelp
Great little coffee shop in Asheville. We stopped in while passing through town. There were a few parking spots out front as well as plenty of street parking. We ordered a drip coffee and and oat milk cappuccino. Both were delicious! There were delicious looking pastries displayed, but we only grabbed coffee.

Yelp
Delicious coffee! What a cute little coffee shop to sit and do work in. Staff was great, I tried their bread and was impressed. The hardest thing about this place was it's a little tough to find parking, but I'd say that is the case in Asheville overall. I'd definitely come back next time.

Yelp
This is such a cute coffee shop in a really great area of Asheville. I recommend checking this place out. The staff is incredibly friendly. Not to mention, the baristas are very talented - you can see them put care into each drink they make. Clearly, the drinks are beautiful as well as tasty. I should mention that the shop also carries VERY cute merchandise (shirts, bags, etc). The bakery items are to die for. I have traveled to France, and I'm embarrassed to say that this croissant may have been the best I've ever had. You are definitely paying for quality and aesthetics when you come here - and it is on the pricey side as far as coffee shops go... but believe me, I found it to be completely worth it.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and very smooth coffee. No bitterness at all. My partner and I appreciated the precision because they measured out each shot (we ordered lattes). Also appreciated where they sourced their coffee. Parking is a little difficult - there are maybe 3-4 spaces next to the store so you'll have to do some searching for street parking around.

Yelp
I spend every morning working remotely in a coffee shop. In Asheville frequently and hit different local shops. this one came highly recommended and did not disappoint. it is small but sleek, streamlined. really comfortable and inviting. the potato leek quiche amazing as was drip black coffee, including free refill. Employees very chill and cool as well. definitely worth a repeat visit! 4-18. back again today. same friendly service and vibe. HOWEVER, please know the ham/cheese croissant is not worth the price. one single ultra-thin piece of ham and a thin layer of chess on both sides of the inside. I am all for making margin/profit but this is absurd!

Ashley L.

Yelp
Very aesthetically pleasing atmosphere! Trendy and cool spot to grab a cup of joe. Prices are fair for a quaint coffee shop

Mali C.

Yelp
Beautiful minimalist hygge vibes even down to their coffee menu. The space is bright and inviting, there's even a nook of kids books for adults who bring their littles out. There's a handful of tables inside and outside even so it can get crowded fast. There's not an overwhelming amount of options but what they do have is done exquisitely. I typically get the matcha latte and the quiche. The matcha latte is my favorite in town but the mocha is good as well. Even though I typically order the quiche the pastries are lovely too. You really can't go wrong with anything you pick here.

Yelp
Great coffee, cool plants, and sick vibes. Farewell delivers on all of these. It's a small but beautiful space at the bottom of a hill with indoor and outdoor seating. Our coffee was piping hot and we loved the chill environment. Will definitely return on our next visit to AVL.

Suzanne T.

Yelp
I love the chill vibe and try to come every week. Hope it doesn't get too damn popular. Great music, everyone is digging the quiet. When the windows are open, it looks like a seaside venue. Ahhh

Yelp
Small space. Easy decor. Coffee was great. CHAI BROWNIE was !!!! Enjoyed a latte with almond milk and apple pie syrup - the taste was subtle and perfect. Very happy with my selection. Coffee man was kind and running a one man show.

Madeleine H.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place, but it's not for me. I think it is just too hipster for my vibe. It's very cute & in a great location, practically in my neighborhood. I love the nice quality cups and plates. I am a coffee person and I can get into a minimalist menu that focuses on quality over options. However, the food in the case looked wilted at 11am with cheese & ham at room temperature during the summer. My mocha did not taste like chocolate. I don't like my mocha's too sweet so that was not the issue. I just couldn't taste any chocolate. It tasted like a slightly sweet latte. I doubt I'll ever go back, but if a friend drags me there I will probably order something very straightforward like a cappuccino. If you love the sarcastic/ironic vibe and are more into things looking cool and tasting good you might enjoy this place.

Jenni L.

Yelp
Love this place! The coffee is delicious and the atmosphere is so relaxing and aesthetic. It's a wonderful place to sit and enjoy on a sunny weekend (especially when the front window of the shop is open). They also have cute merchandise and sell plants!

Craig Z.

Yelp
I went 3 times in one long weekend while visiting Asheville. This is a multi-roaster coffee shop that changes all of it's coffee offerings pretty regularly seemingly, including the drip and espresso. The coffee is all from small roasters, and is definitely specialty. When I was there, they had a lot from Brooklyn, but also had a couple of coffees from regional coffee roasters. The coffees were very good, even if not outstanding, but there are few shops that offer this kind of variety, which is a huge plus. The highlight was being able to try an anaerobic fermentation coffee they had as iced coffee. I've only experienced a couple coffees like this, and never as iced coffee, so big props for a unique experience. Note, they serve iced coffee, not cold brew. They take extreme care in brewing the coffees properly, and everything I tried was very well made. It is a beautiful place and I would sit there forever if not for COVID. And there were a lot of people seated while I was there...50% of capacity is actually about as full as coffee shops usually get anyway, so that is a good number of people. But they have an enormous window open most times too. I didn't try food, or anything else. Offering beyond coffee is limited.

Yelp
Beautiful environment! Tons of light with indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the Matcha Zinger and LOVED it.

Christa R.

Yelp
Cute and modern vibe. Great outdoor seating options. Really loved all the ceramic mugs the drinks came in. We tried the cold brew, cappuccino and americano and everyone left happy. Everyone had a mask on, bathrooms were clean and servers were friendly.

Jimmy K.

Yelp
Came here for a drink on the patio. Our group enjoyed a can beer in the nice weather. The coffee and wine looked great as well. Would love to come back for a coffee sometime. Check them out.

Beth M.

Yelp
Freshest of beans. Family owned local coffee shop with rotating roasts from all over. Excellent coffee and relaxed atmosphere. Free on street parking and good vibes. Natural wines by glass or bottle as well.

Carl S.

Yelp
Great vibey coffee shoo with an incredible product! Staff are very kind... ambience is really easy feeling and great for conversation! My new favorite! The coffe selection are carefully prepared with precision and taste amazing!!!

Max M.

Yelp
Espresso 10/10. And it changes often. There are only a few premier coffee shops in Asheville. This is definitely the leader. And it has natural wine. And long hours. I mean what else do you want. Windows open, natural air, natural light. Good vibes, better aestetic. Easy parking. If you're in Asheville and like coffee, you have no excuse for not going here. My review was not influenced by the fact the owner has the same name as me, not at all.

Nabil J.

Yelp
If you are looking for a morning bite and you don't eat Ham, this is not the place for you :) the barista was unfriendly, it's overpriced as well. Tiny cappuccino and a small quiche $12. Pretentious atmosphere, I was so looking forward to going there, cause I love the building and the space.

Sullivan B.

Yelp
My wife and I love going because the place is awesome and the coffee is always new and different but also because there is a table next to a tiny kids area that my 1 year old loves to play with. This is above and beyond and is perfect for our family to be able to sit down and talk for a minute while my son plays.

Emily P.

Yelp
Super cute place with great coffee and minimalist style! Just wish they'd have a little more seating, but it's understandable since the shop is a little small.

Jay E.

Yelp
If you like a multi roaster with solid coffee from around the world. This is your spot. If you wanna grab a glass of wine or beer later in the day so a good spot. But get there if you want a seat, it gets full quick

Mina B.

Yelp
Adorable coffee shop with a great aesthetic. But my hot chocolate was cold, so that was disappointing.

Sandy N.

Yelp
Among the best cappuccinos I've ever had (plus got it with oatmilk). If I lived in Asheville I'd probably break the bank coming here.

e m.

Yelp
Best new coffee/wine spot in town! Love to bring my book, snag a spot in the corner surrounded by plants and soak up the ambiance. Definitely get the ham and cheese croissant.

Liza S.

Yelp
Grateful they're open during COVID. Space is bright- architecture very modern, lots of green plants against white walls. Nice for working. Natural wines for sale by the bottle. Baristas are not friendly, unfortunately, which is a shame in this sweet town, so if that's a priority I'd head elsewhere!

Shanley V.

Yelp
I visited 3 or 4 times during a week-long visit to Asheville. Really nice coffee, very cool space. There is a very large window over the front seating bar that was always open, making the inside feel very outside-y and also covid-safe. Coffee is served in beautiful stoneware mugs. Also recommend the ham and cheese biscuit for breakfast. Dog-friendly.

Madison Y.

Yelp
Such a great spot! The staff was so friendly and the coffee was amazing. As someone who thoroughly appreciates and enjoys coffee spots -- this one is a winner. They even manually pull their espresso shots which is SO COOL!

Caleb C.

Yelp
Probably my favorite new coffee shop in Asheville. Great coffee, great service, great atmosphere. It's obvious they care about the details.

Cheryl N.

Yelp
Just what the South Slope was yearning for... a sweet, bright, calm coffee shop! I'm working my way through a scrumptious and creative porridge ( I know, lunchtime but couldn't resist). Local oats from Farm & Sparrow topped with roasted apple butter & toasted walnuts...I'll be making this a regular stop, maybe after Sauna House!

Cabell T.

Yelp
It feels like this business has been around forever. I can't imagine visits to Asheville without stopping by. The rotating list of guest roasters is excellent and I've yet to drink anything from Farewell that wasn't 10/10 . Must visit!

Emily K.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and an incredibly well crafted latte. They have a small patio seating and were open late so it was the perfect spot to grab an evening coffee. The barista was very kind. Love this spot and wish I could go everyday.

Gina D.

Yelp
Max is the best! He is so friendly and remembers customers names and orders and it's a highlight of my day to be able to go grab amazing coffee and chat with a friendly person. They have adapted to the COVID guidelines and are running so smoothly! The coffee is fantastic and it's a great environment! One of the best coffee shops in Asheville. Certainly the friendliest!! I don't go anywhere else.

R T.

Yelp
This business is relatively new. When I saw they were open I wanted to support during the current Covid crisis. There was an ordering counter with no inside access which was fine with me. As I approached I noticed to very entitled women who were too special to wear masks out in public. Not only were these women infringing on the entrance space but they remained parked at the ordering counter discussing the shallow nothing that consumed their days. Although I ordered my items ( which were not the least bit impressive for the cost) I found myself extremely disappointed that there were no boundaries being enforced for these inappropriate and intrusive women. I imagine they must like that sort of patron. Since I, being the type that follows the health guidelines, comes to make a purchase and then maintains an appropriate distance for the next patron was not honored by someone at the establishment enforcing appropriate boundaries then I assume I am not wanted as a patron. I will leave this business to the entitled, inappropriate and socially intrusive clients that is seems to favor because I won't be back. I will also add that I have been here several times and after this final insult my decision has been validated to go elsewhere.

AJ K.

Yelp
Super cute shop & great coffee. The guy working the register had a major attitude, which was a bummer, but other wise, great spot!

P L.

Yelp
This place is so pleasant. Amazing coffee. Great pastries. I had the ham and cheese biscuit, it had salt flakes I believe, I LOVED IT. The barista was so kind. 10 out of 10.

Katie R.

Yelp
This place is everything I could want from a coffee shop. Really cute, clean interior, interesting and delicious pastries, and good coffee. Also, not the most important thing in the world, but I liked the nice plates and cups they have for dining-in. Great aesthetic. As for covid safety, they have outdoor seating available and I appreciate the huge open window they have at the front of the shop, so lots of air circulation inside there as well.

Janaynay K.

Yelp
Great coffee shop! Latte with macadamia nut milk was so good. Nice ambience that was very airy and great service. Solid stop for coffee!

Taylor H.

Yelp
Great coffee and wine selection. I appreciate that there's usually a gluten free option in the baked goods cabinet!

Lauren K.

Yelp
I'm so glad they were practicing covid safety protocols here but the iced coffee lacked flavor and taste of anything but milk. The inside of the facility was beautiful though and I really enjoyed the aesthetic.
