2 Days in Kraków

"MICHELIN-recommended Farina Restaurant. Polish flavours meet Provençal sun and warmth. Seasonal dishes and a wine list that includes many of the wines they import themselves." - The MICHELIN Guide

Farina

"A pretty little restaurant in the heart of the Old Town; the dining area here is divided across three cosy rooms, each with their own character and blending original features with more modern furnishings. The simple cooking eschews fussiness in favour of reliably enjoyable dishes that allow the core flavours to shine. Seafood is the speciality, with fish arriving from France several times a week and then cooked whole over salt and herbs. Dishes to share are a feature." - Michelin Inspector

"As its fish-and-sack-of-flour logo suggests, Farina serves fresh seafood and homemade pasta, prepared with seasonal ingredients to the very highest standards. In addition to Mediterranean fare, chef Monika Turasiewicz also offers a small selection of traditional Polish dishes—her pierogi ruskie are among the best in town—and a special seafood menu Thursday through Sunday. No matter what you order, your meal will start with the restaurant’s signature appetizer of truffle-and-mushroom pâté, served with scrumptious little rolls that are baked in-house. Farina also has a solid selection of wines, plus a sommelier to recommend the ideal pairing."

Yet another Michelin recommended restaurant which is not at all bad but also not great. The zucchini flower we had was not bad, but it was paired with a spicy salsa that is overpowering for this part of the vegetable. My main dish again was not bad, it was called ravioli but was more like pierogi. It was quite dry and not that flavourful, plus I had pierogi at the bistro at my hotel (H15 Luxury Palace) and much preferred it for comparison. The thing that really threw me off is my dad's pasta. He chose the seafood pasta which was undercooked (for reference, we like our pasta al dente) and the shrimp he was given was barely bigger than the shrimp you use for shrimp rolls, and smaller than cocktail shrimp to give you an idea. Usually, in seafood pasta, the seafood is sort of the star of the dish and you expect to get a certain quality. For a michelin recommended restaurant, this was disappointing. Overall nothing bad, but nothing great. The service was wonderful though.

Farina in Krakow was the perfect choice for celebrating my 41st birthday during our trip last May. We found it through the Michelin Guide, and it absolutely lived up to the recommendation. The service was flawless—warm, attentive, and thoughtful from start to finish. A fantastic Austrian wine was suggested and paired beautifully with our dishes: tagliatelle with lobster, tuna carpaccio, and asparagus with cheese, all prepared to perfection. As a lovely surprise, I received a complimentary ice cream dessert for my birthday. It was a truly memorable evening and an unforgettable dining experience!

Very nice enviroment, very good lobster and zucchini, friendly staff but we would have liked more detailed presentations of the dishes. Overall, very good restaurant.

Google
Amazing restaurant. We had goats cheese mousse and snails to start, followed by the sharing seafood platter, the best we have ever had. The service was amazing, checked on us regularly and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is beautiful, real character. Would highly recommend, we will definitely be returning.

The food is nice and fresh. The lobster pasta was very good and the plating looked great. Prices are a bit higher than other places in town.

This restaurant truly is one of a kind! Wonderful atmosphere, people and service. The food is in a league of its own, everything we ate was top notch and perfect. Struggle to find words, but truly a culinary experience. I highly recommend Farina, will totally be coming back in the future!

Google
We visited this place tonight while looking for a quiet and cozy spot to celebrate an important anniversary together. We had an amazing experience: there was no wait for a table, the hostess was charming, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had a medium-rare steak, and my girlfriend ordered the seafood tortellini. The wine selection was excellent, and the desserts were simply outstanding. The prices are a bit on the higher side compared to the average in Kraków, but the quality and atmosphere make it well worth it.

Our family came here during our visit to Krakow and had a fantastic time. The food was incredible, atmosphere was lovely, and Martin & Alyse were the best servers. 10/10 would return!

Yelp
Good seafood restaurant, very nice ambiance (albeit formal, if that is to your liking). I started with the tuna carpaccio, which was not what I expected. Normally carpaccio is thin slices, this was more of a tartare. Then I had the turbot with asparagus, turbot was nice but did not blow me away. The side salad was good though drenched in dressing, that may or may not be to your liking. Overall I was glad I went but not blown away.

Yelp
Beautiful dining room, professional service, cheffy fish and accoutrements. I hear the fish is flown in daily; it was fresh and expertly prepared. Fish is the focus. I had Siberian sturgeon caviar that came with toast, butter and sour cream, but also this night came with an additional two breads and a mushroom and (truffle?) puree. Each item brought a different flavor to the party. For dinner I had a whole fish and a nicely textured side salad. Continuing the indulgence for dessert I chose the classic creme brûlée with a 1979 port. It's that kind of place. My only complaint is that there were no olives in my Hendricks gin martini.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance were perfect. I particularly enjoyed the zucchini flower appetizer. A nice touch was they allowed me to eat my seabream, on the bone, as I preferred. Simply a very good meal. Very little to complain about other than the zucchini side dish being a bit salty.

Yelp
If you have ONE restaurant to eat at in Krakow, scratch that, Europe, make it Farina. We stumbled into Farina for lunch and went BACK THE SAME DAY for dinner, that's how amazing this restaurant is. My mother, sister, and I went to Europe (5 cities) over 2 weeks and Krakow was one of our stops. We were staying at a hotel near to Farina and were wandering around trying to find a place for lunch when we just happened to pass by Farina. We looked at the menu and quickly wanted to have lunch as the menu looked AMAZING. We were greeted by this very bright-smiled guy who escorted us to our table and proceeded to recommend great Polish wines for us to try which my family LOVED. We started talking and had such a lovely discussion about food. He studied in Paris so he had a lot of insights of where to go and eat on our entire trip. Our waiter arrived who was equally as pleasant and I will tell you that both of these gentlemen made our trip to Poland so special. He recommended dishes that were out of this world such as the stuffed zucchini with ricotta cheese. We literally ordered another one it was SO good. I'm also obsessed with Kir Royale drinks (champagne with chambord or creme de cassis) and I quite rarely see this on the menu. This was the first drink on the lunch menu. I knew it was a match made in heaven! More with the food... I knew that Dorado was a great fish (which we don't see much of in the US) but he recommended that I try the turbot. Out of everything we had, this was the second best (after the zucchini stuffed with cheese which was just OUT OF THIS WORLD). Then I would say the steak was third. We tried so many dishes as we came for lunch and then went back for dinner we had such a good time. They both recommended that we eat at a place in Warsaw called L'Atelier Amaro which also did not disappoint. Make sure you try Farina!!

Yelp
Came here on the recommendation and wasn't disappointed. Wonderful ambiance and every meal was delicious. Service was on point and cannot rave enough about the food. Truly one of the better dining experiences I've had. The prices are a bit more compared to other locations but it's understandable once you step foot into the restaurant. If you're in the mood to have a nice, enjoyable and relaxing meal in krakow this is the place to do so!

Yelp
From start to finish, delicious. Fresh ingredients, delicate but flavorful, and portions are just right. Every dish was exactly what you'd expect from Kraków, flawless. The service was great and even though we walked in 20 minutes before close the staff was very friendly and willing to make sure we had a great experience! Another amazing fine dining restaurant in old city Kraków that you need to check out for dinner and drinks! I will be coming back without a doubt!

Yelp
Wow. Single woman traveling alone looking for a nice meal. The reviews were good and this was very close to my hotel. The service was outstanding and I was treated to friendly smiles, perfect English and great recommendations. The bread basket came with a lovely pate with truffle oil. It took a taste or two before I realized it was mushroom. Yum! The sea bass was perfectly baked with garlic and herbs. Not too salty, which is a pet peeve of mine. I asked for a side dish recommendation and the spinach with raisins was amazing. A glass of Riesling completed the meal. This is not a cheap meal, costing me 146 zloty with tip. But that was still under $37 for an outstanding meal that would cost twice that at home. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Perfect dining experience every time, every year. From the moment you enter to the moment you leave - it's a celebration. Beautiful flower compositions in an elegant interior. Quiet, great for conversations. Friendly, professional service every time. In addition to seafood they offer several types of dumplings. Ate my first snails here! I find it amusing anyone from the West would complain about prices here considering what they are getting.

Yelp
This should be a 5 star rating and would have been through our entree. After that the service fell off completely. I can accept the fact a restaurant was out of the wine we ordered and the server forgot my wife's side order of rice but to be ignored at the end of the meal because another larger party was seated is unacceptable. The food is wonderful. We enjoyed one of the best soups we've ever tasted in the mussel bisque. The turbot and mussel entrees were superb. Can't rate dessert because we were no longer in the mood after having to ask for the menu when it was obvious we were no longer welcome. The restaurant needs a dining room manager to ensure all guests are being taken care of. If our server was busy, which she was, another person who wasn't, which there were, should have stepped in. Can't recommend as there are so many other excellent restaurants in Krakow.

Yelp
High class place with an almost Scandinavian feel to it. Great seafood selection. Best place in Kraków so far! We've been to Cyrano de B. (2nd) and Enoteca Pergamina (3rd) and some other places. It was delicious and tasty. Don't miss this place!!

Yelp
I am seldom mislead by reviews. But Farina surprised me in a negative way. Restaurant is well located and has nice inferior, with very original roof. By the food was poor and prices way too high. The supposedly fresh fish was the size of minimum 700 grams for over 20pln per 100g. Nice trick, if you end up paying around 150 PLN for fish alone, plus almost 50 PLN for sides... and moreover it was far from tasty, dry and without any idea how to serve (no sauce). Service was somehow kind but they tried the old tricks how to snatch money from customer. When the waitress poured wine,l for everyone, she miscalculated one glass of a person who tried. Then she opened another bottle to fill it up. Simple? Simple... and so unprofessional.

Yelp
The food is fantastic!! We had Frito Misto and whole baked dorado.... All seafood was fresh and prepared just perfectly..., amazingly surprising in the middle of Europe.... coupled with a bottle of Chardonnay, nice service and limoncello.... Keep it up guys!!! Highly recommended...

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Krakow. Ive been to Poland 7 times and I make it a priority to eat here eat time. The steak wasn't a good choice but the shrimp are huge and the pastas are all wonderful. The service is also the best I've experienced in Krakow.

Yelp
It was a very fortunate evening we stumbled upon this delightful little restaurant. The staff were wonderful and friendly and oh my gosh the food! I had the mushroom ravioli which I can honestly say was the best I have eaten. Homemade with fresh wild mushrooms, just superb. Can't recommend highly enough, a must visit!

Yelp
Outstanding. This restaurant, not cheap by any standards, would fare well in any major city. The service, choices, and preparation are world class.

Yelp
Really nice restaurant in the heart of Krakow. Had a nice mix of traditional polish dishes and also Mediterranean style of food. Impressive menu from sallads to meat to fish and deserts. Try it!!
