This place is a one of a kind treasure! It's set in a beautiful beach side neighborhood and is quite romantic yet lively for family and friends. There is an incredible cozy pub off the lobby (it was an inn at one point) and then the large restaurant is spread throughout a few grand rooms/spaces throughout 1 level which makes the entire atmosphere more intimate and interesting. In the summertime, there is a wonderful stone patio set within the trees which adds to the atmosphere. The food is amazing! We always order wine because they carry so many authentic wines I can't find anywhere around here. I love their bread but always need to be sure to save room for dinner. We sampled several of the delicious appetizers family-style between the group (the calamari is a must and we had the famous meatballs) then moved on to some incredible entrees. My lamb chops were so tender and the portion was so big that I was able to enjoy them for lunch the next day! We were stuffed by the end of the meal but have learned to take home a dessert to share for later because they are THAT good. I love this place and am so glad it is so close to home. It's like Chicago (or Italy) are in my backyard!

Google
Beautiful setting for a restaurant! Service was excellent. We didn't find the staff as friendly as other restaurants in the area. The Branzino is outstanding is well as the Clam chowder. Wine selection is very good. Eggplant is just average. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves.

Nice hidden gem off the beaten path. I took my wife there for our anniversary for the first time and it did not disappoint. From the fresh bread, to the appetizer and main courses, the service was impeccable. The fresh ingredients and homemade sauces on our dishes made the meal memorable. I will definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone. Ed was a our waiter and on point all evening. Thank you for a great meal and a memorable anniversary, we both can't wait to return.

Google
Fabulous, and the servings were big - able to eat again the next night leftovers and the taste was great, maybe even better the second night . We had the lasagna and Old Neighborhood Platter. The lobster bisque was outstanding and the spinach had a wonderful taste. We will for sure return soon. Lovely anniversary dinner

Yelp
Incredible steak and fantastic service! The porterhouse steak was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were bold and rich. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious, and the grilled asparagus was spot on. The restaurant has a great ambiance, and the staff was attentive without being intrusive. I highly recommend trying their signature sauce it takes the steak to the next level!

Yelp
For the high end price one would expect high end food and service. We experienced neither. We tried it once and can't think of a single reason to go back.

Terry A.

Yelp
Way over priced Italian pasta food. The worse service I've ever had at a restaurant. Hair on the table, and a giant lemon seed in my Cab wine. Ambiance is like to say is nice, but not when there's these minimums running back and forth thru the kitchen doors. Too hectic.

Yelp
Love this place. So quaint, adorable, and perfect. Awesome ambiance and service too. We had the cream of mushroom soup, vodka penne and wedge salad. Also the cheesecake. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We make a reservation whenever we're nearby. Excellent homestyle italian -- gigantic lasagna! Their calamari is also delightful. Good service too.

Yelp
After Farina's re-opened after their fire we wanted to give them a fresh shot with a clean palette. Good decision. They were very welcoming and hospitable. The food was great and the ambience is just like you remembered it pre-fire. Kudos on a job well done, Farina's.

Yelp
It was my first visit to Farina's Supper Club. Our friend suggested the restaurant as he is a regular and it did not disappoint. We started with the Fried Calamari and we also had the Salad wedge, Chicken Parmesan as well as the Salmon. Everything was well presented and our server was Ed and he was very helpful. We were way too full to have dessert but we saw a piece of chocolate cake that looked amazing! We also had the pomegranate martini that was excellent. On a side note we saw an epic sunset over Lake Michigan on our way to the restaurant.

Yelp
First and foremost, the parking at this place TERRIBLE... We went to a dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday (party of 6). Our reservation was for 6 pm and we were seated right on time. Our server was very friendly and helpful. He was a true professional, very attentive. He took our drink order and when he returned, brought a basket of bread for the table. The bread was FANTASTIC... I started with their French Onion soup and to be honest, I really didn't care for it. The looks of the soup were very promising, but I thought the onions were slightly raw, not crunchy, but not melt in your mouth like you expect French Onion soup to be. I thought for the price, it should have been much better than it was. For dinner I ordered Chicken Parmesan, and my wife went with Linguine and Mussels. The Chicken Parmesan was HUGH, it was crazy big. The chicken was smothered in cheese and was browned to perfection. It was served with marinara sauce. The chicken was tender and juicy but didn't have a lot of flavors. The sauce was good tasting, but it was missing the side of pasta as stated in the menu. My wife's mussels were served on a huge platter along with a side of linguine. She said it tasted good but was not impressed by the price. For dessert I shared some chocolate cake, which was excellent, very moist, and wonderful. Overall, I was not that impressed by this place, compared to how everyone talked about it. I felt it fell a little short. The service was wonderful, but this meal took over 2-1/2 hours. I know this place was packed, but that is way too long for what was served.

Yelp
Our recent visit to Farina's was a bit of a disappointment - the food just wasn't up to par compared to previous visits. Their amazing focaccia bread was hard and had barely melted shredded cheese on it - it wasn't the garlicky, fluffy, crusty appetizer it usually is. We enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms but two of us ordered our favorite, Nana's Gravy but it seemed way over cooked - sauce was dark brown and rigatoni was flat and gummy. My husbands Joe Pesce pasta was cold and lacked flavor. Our friend ordered one of the fish specials and enjoyed it. Our server, Audrey was outstanding so no complaints on that front. We've been to Farina's many times and always blown away....not this time. We hope they were having an off night.

Yelp
When you first enter you may be put off by what appears to be a chaotic house party. But take a deep breath and give it a chance. You'll soon notice that the calm cool and collect staff have everything under control. Our server Mike was great. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, helpful totally on top of his game. He also made great recommendations. They have a nice sized drink menu with standards and specialty drinks. I went with their old fashioned and really enjoyed it. It was refreshing and strong. They have a good sized food menu with something for everyone. For a starter I had the Oceans 11 eggplant stack. Breaded eggplant, mozzarella, tomato's, roasted peppers and balsamic. The mixture of hot and cold, savory and sweet, along with the different textures of crispy chewy and soft made it a symphony for my tastebuds. Also it was filling but not overly so. Simply perfect. Everything you want in an appetizer. For my dinner I had Nana's Gravy. Braised pot roast in red wine crushed tomato sauce. Served over rigatoni and topped with ricotta. Hardy, warm, flavorful, perfectly cooked comfort food. Just delicious. For dessert I had the chocolate fudge cake. Creamy and sweet with a surprising lightness. All around fantastic dinner. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Wow! I am in love with Farina's Supper Club! On your first visit you will not be prepared for the location. Winding through a residential neighborhood of beach houses, it suddenly appears. There stands Farina's - a grand Victorian looking home. The outdoor patio offers a gorgeous backdrop for what feels like dining in the forest. You would never know the parking lot is just on the other side of all the greenery. The interior has a cozy feel steeped in history. We just knew we were going to have a nice time. It was a slow start at first, quiet and not too busy. Then the crowds arrived and our server Lido was fantastic. He was gracious, professional yet charming and personable. He was training someone who was equally kind. Although they were busy, the worked the tables like pros! Our cocktails were perfectly created, served ice cold and delicious. The bread is crunchy and chewy. We tried not to fill up on it. The Vesuvio Potatoes were incredible! I could eat them every day! I loved my pasta with red sauce. I asked them to add veggies and it was delicious. My friend had a seafood pasta dish. We were celebrating a birthday and the server saw the gift. So he surprised us with a birthday dessert. Very sweet! Yvonne & Joe are an incredible power couple on the restaurant scene. Joe is an ace in the kitchen and Yvonne knows how to care for her clientele. I am a true fan!

Yelp
With all the hype, I couldn't wait to try it on a warm September night. It's not easy to find, Tucktaway in a tiny private neighborhood and parking can be a challenge. but once you are there, it is a lovely spot. Got there early and was seated outdoors. The outdoor lighting on the trees was working and only one or two tiki lanterns were lit so it was difficult to see at times. At one point they turned outdoor flood lighting and that was way too bright. The drinks were outstanding! I had a Sazerac. But let's get to the food. The brussels sprouts appetizer was tasty, even though I would've preferred them to be a little more crisp. They have focaccia bread that they serve was absolutely the best I've ever had. Delicious. My entrée, linguine with clams was a mess. The clams were so tough I only managed to eat three of them. Each one as tough as the last one. I felt like I was chewing gum. The linguine was a huge pile that had not been drained properly so it was sitting in water. The wonderful marinara that I tasted on my friends dish was out of this world, but on mine it was water down and soupy. It was my birthday and even though I mentioned several times I was a vegan, they brought out a piece of tiramisu which I could not eat as it was full of dairy. it was also still very frozen but the gesture was appreciated. My friend said that her mostaccioli was perfect. One other slight issue was that a member of the kitchen staff was apparently very ill. The walkway from the kitchen to an outdoor refrigerator was right behind where we ate and we got to listen to this guy cough his brains out the entire evening. Even inside the refrigerated space he continue to cough. Then he spit several times right outside the refrigerated shed. He either had Covid or was dying of lung cancer. It was awful and he should not have been working around any kind of food. I'm giving it a four star review anyway because it is a beautiful spot and it was a lovely evening. And our waiter, Lido did his best to manage the whole outdoor area with little help.

Yelp
As an out of town visitor, I was thrilled to find Farina's! They handled our large group with ease and the service was quick and friendly. Our table loved sharing a few of the large Caesar salads as an appetizer. We also all tried the espresso martinis, which were delicious and well made. My spaghetti and meatballs were piping hot, flavorful, and extremely tender. The ambiance of the restaurant and the patio is romantic and comfortable. I will definitely return if I'm in the area!

Yelp
Let me say up front, that everything that we ordered was good. I was disappointed that they didn't have prime rib on our visit (just tell me that it's off the menu for the night, not that you're 'out' 90 minutes into service). The wine and cocktails were priced at the going rate ($12-$14/glass). I thought that $24 for a cup and a half of rigatoni "bolognese" was a little too high. Regarding the bolognese , I would just call it a marinara with meat, garlic and basil- bolognese is really stretching the description. The brussels sprouts appetizer and wedge salad were amazing. My wife enjoyed her chicken Parmesan, which was an enormous serving size. All of the food tasted good, but I would not say that things were anything resembling authentic dishes, maybe authentic Italian-American. Again, everything was enjoyable, just temper your expectations in this regard. The building is nice but the parking lot is very tight. We have been experiencing a good amount of rain lately, so the parking was also a little muddy since it isn't paved.

Calvin C.

Yelp
I'll admit - the food is excellent, will upcharge you to high heaven so keep that in mind. Parking is awful, impossible to back out if you drive an SUV. I had to do about a 30 point turn to get out, in a gravel lot that pools water. My wife's shoes were soaked. They do regularly have sewage back up in the basement so that can be a turn-off. The Inn part is closed (as opposed to when it was the Duneland Inn), used to have family book rooms there when they'd come visit but a waitress told me the owner keeps the Inn part available for family only now. Their decision, but a poor one. Definitely sends the wrong message.

Yelp
Dined here for the first time tonight and it was excellent! Our server Mike was incredible and he made some great recommendations. We had the Ceasar, Nana's Gravy and the lasagna. Everything was so tasty and the portion sizes were very generous. Ambiance and decor were perfection. Will be dining here again soon and highly recommending to friends and family!

Yelp
First time visiting this location. We made reservations earlier in the day, for our first date to meet in a central location for both of our commutes. We decided to choose Farina's because we were impressed by the menu, website, and good reviews. Upon arrival, my date was cracking jokes about the location, he was a bit concerned with the "hidden gem" and the appearance of the restaurant (he said it looked like a home converted into a dining establishment) and of course the parking lot. However, we decided to check it out anyways since we both traveled over an hour to get there and did not want to cancel our reservation. Upon entering we were greeted by a couple of friendly hosts and were seated immediately, (They even accommodated us with no hesitation when we asked for a bigger table, we came prepared to eat and wanted a bit more room). We were not disappointed! The appetizer portion of the Fried Calamari was impressive, lightly breaded, and seasoned, and quite, delicious! By the first bite, we knew we had chosen the right restaurant. My handsome date, choose the Prime Ribeye and I ordered the Whitefish Picatta. The portions were huge, our food was served hot, well-seasoned, and delightful! Although we could not finish either of our meals, we still ordered two desserts to try them out. We shared the Carrot Cake and a Limoncello Cheesecake, they were also sinfully delightful! The service was exceptional and impressively pleasant and we have already decided to return another day to experience Farina's again.

Yelp
Good fixture. Not as good as a Chicago place but very good for a MC version. A go to recommendation

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance was great. Having to deal with Patricia the manager for 2 months to get our credit card we left by mistake, was terrible. Weeks and weeks of lies and excuses from her every time. Then sends it to us without putting it in the envelope and sealing it at all! Not nice to deal with so don't forget to take your credit card!

Yelp
Dined with family at Farina's last Friday evening. The waiter was very good and tried his best- Carlos. The kitchen was obviously short staffed and the food was not prepared as well as it was in the past. The linguine with clams was not good- seemed like the clams were out of a can- and it was not hot. The place was so busy my fellow diner wanted to return his food- however he did not. The owner was obnoxious, and sat with a table and talked the entire evening- barking orders to staff and generally disregarding his other diners. The brick chicken came out and was below average, the peas were dried up and tasted like they were cooked days ago. The owner claim''s hes from Chicago- how did he land here? His place wouldn't make it a week in a large city. I travel the Country and have dined in every big city - this place is not up to par. The prices are too high and the drinks are really expensive $360 for 4 people

Yelp
I received a recommendation from a friend to go here. When you drive up the restaurant is located in a charming neighborhood off the beaten path. The place is visually stunning. Interior design is unique and compelling. That is the end of anything outstanding I can share. First, they are limited by real estate and there is not enough parking. At the bar it took 15 minutes to get drinks ordered and we had to ask for assistance to make that happen (its a 10 seat bar). The same was true for the people seated next to us. Once we had our drink we waited to be seated for our 7:45 reservation. We were seated 20 minutes later, a waiter did not come to the table for the first 15 minutes and then just like the bar, I had to ask for assistance. We placed our order and the first food did not arrive for another 30 minutes. So in all, 70 minutes after our initial reservation. Both entrees appeared appetizing but both kept Morton Salt in business with the amount of salt in the food. Simply put, they were not eatable. We had an oyster appetizer which could not be over-salted, so that was good. At the end of the day, the place looks great, comparable to any fine dining location in Chicago. The problem is that the staff was either understaffed or under trained. There was no real sense of hospitality, customer service and a total lack of polish. I fear that coming out of Covid that mediocrity is the new standard for what is acceptable and that's a shame.

Yelp
I was staying in New Buffalo and heard about this place from all my Chicago Friends that I had to try it. I didnt know what to expect. I started with the burrata which was delicious one of the best I have ever had. My entree was the Brick chicken which was perfectly cooked. I can see myself driving from the city just for this dish.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times now on my trips back home to this neighborhood, and I'm super-happy to see Duneland Beach now has a legit dining destination. The portions are definitely Italian-style huge, while the prices are fairly Chicagoan. They do a great job with their calamari and salads, which could almost be a meal on their own if you wanted. My favorite has been the Wedge, but they have good options to choose from. I believe they make most of their own pasta, and again there are a lot of combos and options. The Nana's Gravy is a standout. While none have been the best pasta and sauces I've ever eaten, they're definitely very good for Indiana. One of the nicest parts of the large menu is that there are a lot of ways to mix and match so it's possible for anyone to find something they want on any night of the week. From the meats, I've only had the pork chop, which was excellent. Only concern is that for these prices, I'd expect them to be a bit more transparent on the menu where they get their meats from. Only saying USDA Prime doesn't mean squat to me if it's coming from just another Cowschwitz. The place has been packed on the few weeknights I've been there, and even though they expanded the parking lot, cars spill out into the nearby streets on summer weekends. I'm glad they're doing so well. Service has been pretty so-so, even a bit frustrating. One night our server seemed like the only one taking orders on the patio, which took forever while there must have been 10 other employees there just doing other small tasks or standing around inside. Also, two of the times I've been there, the garbage disposal truck has shown up around 6:30-7, loudly backing all the way into the parking lot next to the patio to pickup the trash, which then wafted a gross aroma of waste across everyone on the patio for a bit. I can't believe the restaurant manager allows them to pick up during service hours. All in all Farina's is a nice spot for an Italian meal close to the beach, whether you live nearby or not.
google avatar

Z N.

Yelp
The food is good, but that only matters if you can be seated. This is a small community in Indiana. This is the second time we have walked out of this restaurant after waiting nearly an hour for a table for 2. A party of over 16 was seated exactly on time as we stood waiting. Their table was booked for 8:00pm. Ours was booked for 7:15. We were really looking forward to a nice meal after a long week of traveling for work, but instead we stood around in an over booked, over crowded waiting room for a table for only 2. Never again will we attempt to eat at Farina's on a weekend, and that's very disappointing because we literally live around the corner in Long Beach.

Yelp
Took my wife here for her 50th birthday celebration, just the two of us. Wow, what a meal. Ambiance, clientele, Mike the General Manager, Michael our server, all five stars! We ordered drinks. My wife a Chianti and a Johnny Black for myself. Great vibe. Bustling waitstaff was extremely courteous. Crowd was cozy and happy to be there. Starts with the complimentary garlic bread and scrumptious red sauce on the side. You can make a meal of this itself. We have the brussel sprouts appetizer, they were cooked perfectly and the red onion and bacon added just the right flavors. My wife had the spaghetti and two giant meatballs. I had the linguini with red clam sauce. Both dishes were delicious and plentiful. Desert was cappuccino and coffee with a tiramisu for two that was to die for. My wife and I devoured it!! The food was amazing. Cannot say enough about our experience here. It's a bit out of the way, but we'll worth it.

Chris C.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service was lacking. Help at the front were hoity-toity. Took my wife out for a date. They sat us outside. Was a nice summer evening. Unfortunately there was a strong sewer smell. Not very nice. Won't go back.

Mary A.

Yelp
We were very disappointed that we weren't seated for our 7:30 reservations until after 8:30. We never planned on eating our dinner until 9:30. Utterly ridiculous!! The service and food were good, but changed the whole evening with the delay! I doubt that I would come back to this location, but will go to their other restaurant.

Yelp
Get the Brussel sprouts. I'm not a huge fan generally. But OH MY GAWD. This was divine.

Yelp
Can't recall how long ago we tried Farina's but my husband and I loved everything--the interior was very beautiful and meal terrific.

Yelp
Food was excellent! Our service was poor, we were there over 2 hours waiter never checked on us, didn't ask if we wanted another drink or dessert. Never refilled water pleases. We did follow up with the manager. Beautiful restaurant!

Yelp
Ate here tonight, on a Wednesday evening. The food was very good but the service was almost non-existent. The server never came back to fill drinks or ask if we wanted more wine. We asked for more bread that finally came when we asked for boxes to box our food. We then waited 35 minutes to get our check and finally had to ask the hostess desk to get it. The server finally brought the check and it sat on our table ready to pay for another 15 minutes. Dinner should not take over 2 hours of just waiting. Very disappointing service.

Yelp
Great food and service...highly recommend the calamari. The mile high lasagna was awesome

Yelp
Ambiance is perfect. The interior design is enviable. The food was delish. Our server was so cool. My bf and I were both super hungry after sitting on the beach all day, so the slower service was a little hard in the beginning, but once we had an appetizer in us we could appreciate the ease of the dining experience. I love a slower meal where you can appreciate the food and conversation and don't feel like you're being rushed out. I felt like I could enjoy my time and whatever was being served in front of me. The bread is KILLER. The sauce that is served is so flavorful. We had the sausage and peppers, which was more of a treat for my boyfriend than I. I enjoyed them greatly, but he ate 3/4, so I'm assuming he loved them more than I could ever. I had the gnocchi and it was so yummy and I even had enough for another meal thanks to the leftovers. My bf had the crab and chicken with a side of pasta, he had to stop conversation because he was enjoying it too much. They forgot to bring out the pasta at first, but the server was so kind and quick about bringing it out. In the midst of a dinner rush, all of the servers kindness and attitudes were so impressive. We then split the tiramisu after I won the coin flip versus the NY cheesecake and I am so happy I won. I rarely have tiramisu, but I was so impressed with it. It was big enough to share as our server said, "it's a tiramisu for two!" I probably could have eaten the whole thing, it was so tasty. Was so yummy and fun, I can't wait to come back again!!

Yelp
We had a wonderful family dinner at this beautiful supper club. Everyone loved their food and service. I ordered the brick chicken with velasco sauce and I was very pleased. Also the meatballs at this place are amazing! The homemade cavatelli is also wonderful. We look forward to going back. Oh and it's worth mentioning that the cocktails we on point as well.

Yelp
My wife and I wanted a special 32nd wedding anniversary on last Friday. What a great meal, with perfect service. As soon as we sat down, we were given a plate of Farina's garlic bread. The bread is huge and dot over toasted. Obviously, it has generous butter and parmesan, the kicker is the delicious marinara sauce. It's also very filling. As we started to get our menu, our water Michael let us know he would be right with us. He was and asked for our drink order, we also suggested some appetizers: Calamari (grilled or fried) and Brussell Sprouts. Our wines were delivered chilled, and we ordered the suggested appetizers. I should note that the wine list, though not long is excellent and they happen to have a handful of my favorites (a French Sancerre, Darioush from Napa and others) They brought out more garlic bread, which was good because both of us are Greek, and it's hard not eat bread lol. The Brussel Sprouts were perfectly grilled with a touch of balsamic. They weren't mushy or over spiced. It was the perfect combination. The grilled calamari was in my top three. It was grilled perfectly, not poached first, and it had a surprising, delayed heat. All went great with my wine. Next up was dinner. I went simple, and ordered the 8 oz filet. My wife chose the chicken Milanese without capers. I mentioned to Michael that I was going to switch to a red for my steak. Next thing I knew, I had three samples to help me choose. I didn't ask, he just did it. That is above and beyond. Our entrees came and the bride loved her chicken, she had to take it home. My steak was cooked to order, and I did broccolini instead of a baked Potatoe. Fresh and spot on for the evening. We then got desert, carrot cake and coconut cake. Both were really good. Overall, it was a perfect meal. Michael rocked as a waiter, always checking in on us, conversing with us, and the food was spot on. The place was packed, and we never felt rushed. We will be back soon

Yelp
Food is really good. Connor the bartender is fantastic probably their best employee. But the service is ridiculously slow. I was in disbelief when the people that sat down 45 minutes after us got their food before us after we waited 1.5 hours! We couldn't leave because we were starving and didn't have anywhere to go on such a crazy busy night. And while I understand kitchens can be crazy- there was no owner or manager there making sure things got out and our server couldn't even look us in the eyes to apologize for the delay or see how we were doing. It was a total mess. And if this was the first time, I'd probably just let it go but this happened our last time there. I want to like the place! And like I said the food is really good but for experienced restauranteurs I am shocked at what a total mess it is.

Yelp
Tomahawk steak was perfectly cooked and presented. Baked potato and asparagus as well. Great place for special occasions. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We went here with a party of 7 for my bachelorette party. You only get one bachelorette party ever. I worked in the restaurant industry for a long time so I have a lot of patience with challenging restaurant situations. I have never had such terrible service at a nice restaurant. Vibe was great. Food was delicious. We asked to remove meat from an appetizer but it came with meat. We did not receive traditional wine service for the wine we ordered. The server brought a wine we didn't order. Most of our party received their meal but several in our party didn't receive their meals for 20 mins, after everyone was else was done eating. The manager took several items off the bill to try compensate, which was appreciated. But then our server complained loudly about how terrible of a tip she was going to get from our table while she was cleaning the table next to ours. Do not recommend. I have a lot of patience if the kitchen is off or if the restaurant was very busy, but that was not the situation here. Honestly, this poor experience put a stain on my bachelorette party weekend.

Yelp
The food and service for our 50th wedding anniversary dinner for 14 guests was amazing. Each of our guests selected their own drinks, meals and desserts, plus we ordered several appetizers to share. The delicious food was plentiful. Carlos took excellent care of our large table, and executed his care with perfection. Thank you, Farina's, for a delightful, delicious evening of celebration in your cozy ambiance. We will be back.

Yelp
My husband had the Sinatra pork chop which filled his plate and was very tasty. I had the Veal Sambuccia which was also very good. Our waiter was good and a nice ambiance,

Yelp
Food was great. Lovely patio and great service. Portions were large so you can take some home and enjoy a second time.

Yelp
Not a fan. The waitress was not very nice. The food was slow. No real creativity. It's in a good location if you're staying nearby.
