"The Cumbrian countryside, mere miles from Hadrian’s Wall, is the setting for Farlam Hall Hotel & Restaurant, a historical house-turned-hotel whose understated elegance is accentuated by a tastefully applied infusion of contemporary design and modern art. The rooms and suites are divided between the main house and the old stables; both combine classic-style furnishings with minimalist modern colors, and feel true to the house’s history without reproducing a specific era. The surrounding countryside offers access to no end of walks and other outdoor activities, while the hotel’s full name mentions one of its great strengths: the Indian-accented Cedar Tree Restaurant." - Tablet Hotels
We have just returned from a 3 day Christmas stay at Farlam Hall Hotel. The whole experience was superb. The hotel very clean and tasteful yet cosy. The staff were absolutely amazing and helpful and as for the food, Hrishikesh Desai the chef patron really worked his magic. The food and stay were faultless, and we were so well catered for as vegetarians. You really should visit this lovely place.

We went with two friends and the four of us had a very special time and enjoyed our stay immensely. We could not fault anything, the welcome was perfect and from then on everything was relaxed and very enjoyable. The place is super but then staff make it that bit more special. We enjoyed the food, breakfast and out two dinners were out of this world. We have no hesitation in recommending Farlam Hall and are looking forward to our next stay, probably in the spring.

Beautiful location, stunning hotel with exceptional service and food. Foodie experience package was perfect short break. Delicious food, exciting new tastes, loved the lamb, Scallop, Skate and the bread pairings (chilli sculptured butter) calamansi and Ugandan Vanilla. Such skill blending flavours. Thank you for a warm friendly delightful stay.

My wife and I stayed for one night on our way to visit family in the North.|We had a very warm welcome on arrival and were upgraded to room 14. This was a large comfortable room with great views of their famous Ceder tree !|They have several menus available for dinner, although you have to ask if you want the 5 course or the vegetarian. The default offering is the 8 course menu.|We chose the 5 and it was exceptional, one of the courses is simply bread and butter, but not like anything I have experienced before. The highlight was the scallop dish which would not be out of place in a 3 Michelin starred room.|The waiting staff were young and enthusiastic with a lovely manner.|The dining room decoration was a little traditional for my taste and there is a display niche with very harsh lighting, a dimmer switch is urgently required.||Overall our stay although brief was very enjoyable. I have given 5 stars, I would knock half a star off if I could just for the lighting issue.

My wife and I were there for the Murder, Mystery & Michelin Stars Evening. From the moment we arrived (being greeted by a member of staff in the car park) to the moment we left will be a memory that will stay with us forever. | The food was exceptional, something we have never seen or tasted before, the attention to detail was first class. The book readings from Mr.Craven and the food descriptions from Hrishikesh Desai were the icing on the cake to top off a fantastic evening.| The room we stayed in was wonderful and we even managed some breakfast the next morning. | All the staff made us feel very welcome and spoilt, each and every one of them are a credit to the hotel.

Once again a wonderful stay at Farlam Hall. A lovely welcome upon arrival and three nights of different experiences during the Diwali Celebration. A very enjoyable time with good company, delicious food, fireworks and a lovely walk to a nearby tarn. A celebration not to be missed.

A lovely evening meeting author Mike Craven and enjoying the excellent menu devised by Hrishi to complement Mike's readings from his books. We have stayed at Farlam Hall before and look forward to doing so again next spring. Cannot fault it!
