Farlam Hall Hotel & Restaurant (Brampton, Cumbria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Cumbrian countryside, mere miles from Hadrian’s Wall, is the setting for Farlam Hall Hotel & Restaurant, a historical house-turned-hotel whose understated elegance is accentuated by a tastefully applied infusion of contemporary design and modern art. The rooms and suites are divided between the main house and the old stables; both combine classic-style furnishings with minimalist modern colors, and feel true to the house’s history without reproducing a specific era. The surrounding countryside offers access to no end of walks and other outdoor activities, while the hotel’s full name mentions one of its great strengths: the Indian-accented Cedar Tree Restaurant." - Tablet Hotels

We thought about many superlatives to use about The Cedar Tree and Farlam Hall but ‘perfect balance’ sums it up. |Staff- a perfect balance between friendliness and efficiency. |Rooms - a perfect balance between comfort and little extra touches, such as the lavender sleep bags. |Waiting, bar and wine staff - knowledgeable and proud of what they serve. |Food- but oh my! Here come the superlatives!|We have been fortunate enough to eat in many fine restaurants both with and without Michelin stars. In our opinion, The Cedar Tree is THE BEST yet! |Chef Patron Desai and his team created a tasting menu in which every course was delicious, inventive, full of flavour and surprises. |How lovely it was to be able to say thank you to Hrishikesh and some of his team in person. ||Why The Cedar Tree has only one Michelin star is surprising! |We are looking forward to visiting again. |Thanks to everyone who made our visit so special.

A beautiful hotel, with an incredibly considerate and friendly staff. We only stayed for one night but felt at ease, relaxed and welcome from the second we got out of the car and was met by Wendy who was the most attentive host. We treated ourselves to the Journey tasting menu which was unforgettable. The skill of Hrishikesh and his team was remarkable, the presentation outstanding and surprising, and the taste - wow, just wow. Can't wait to go back, whenever that may be.

We continued up country to Farlam Hall Hotel, where Hrishikesh Desai as the Chef Patron, it’s a wonderful hotel and superb restaurant service…. Rooms are beautiful with all you need especially the Dyson hairdryer!! Staff were very accommodating where nothing to much trouble, breakfast times excellent, with a typical menu for a 5 star establishment, but superbly produced and served. |The evening restaurant service is something else, great cocktail bar inside and with outside area, restaurant menu is excellent with lovely twists, that only Hrishikesh can do. The tasting menus plus wine flight is a beautiful way to enjoy an evening after cruising the local countryside and towns, ready for a wonderful nights sleep in a quiet peaceful location….

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Farlam Hall. A beautiful Boutique Hotel in perfectly manicured grounds , it certainly is an oasis of calm only twenty minutes max from the motorway . | From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome as a member of staff came out to greet us and show us to our room . Our room was sumptuous with a delightful sitting area all overlooking the front lawns . Dinner was fab, great selection on the menu . Cooked to perfection , mouthwatering taste and the presentation , a work of art . Thank you chefs ! | The waiting on staff all played their part in providing first class service . The Head Waiter knew the menu and gave good recommendations for both food choices and wines that would pair with one’s choice . Breakfast service equally as good , the ladies in charge were very personable . To be served an A La Carte breakfast is a rare treat these days , again choice superb . | So our thanks go to everyone , this hotel going forward deserves to do well . It’s very well run and you can tell there is a mutual respect amongst the staff and they genuinely care about delivering an excellent service and experience for their guests . | Much appreciated and thank you for allowing us to bring our toy poodle . He loved his stay too .| The Gilchrists . 🐾

The setting was perfect in every way for my wife and I to celebrate our 52nd wedding anniversary! The room, service and food were all 5 star. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful in all aspects of our stay. We would not hesitate to return.

The food was amazing, elegantly presented and subtly spiced. I have an issue with mango, this was no problem and a different dessert wss offered. I was surprised that breakfast didn't have a spice twist. Our room was well appointed but did become very hot in the night. The walking booklet provided by the hotel was a nice touch, allowing us to leave our car and enjoy a morning walk.

Very comfortable and enjoyable two night break. We stayed in a classic room with a view over the gardens. Food in the bistro was very enjoyable. Chef made a special for my husband, who is pescatarian, as there was no different alternative on the second night of our visit.

It was like stepping back to a bygone age where the door was opened for us and we were welcomed in, lead through to the dining room. Tables were well spaced throughout the room, with floral decorations. Menus were exciting and different to the run of the mill Sunday lunch. You could have 2 courses for £50 or 3 for £60 drinks were extra. Being a celebration we went the whole hog and had 3 courses. The food was beautifully presented and tasted even better, lamb was a little too pink for my liking but I plowed on. Only thing we could pull it up on was the carpet, it looked fairly new but had quite a few stains and hadn't been vacuumed properly as there were lots of bits under my husband's feet. Apart from that we had a thoroughly lovely time.
