Another work day. Another work lunch. This time, we had Farm Burger brought to the office. I'd had a not-so-great experience at the one in Atlanta but I kept that to myself as the group decided on where to get lunch. New city. New location. It was only fair to start from a blank space, right? Right.
I thought that I'd make my order fairly simple so as to get the right feel for the place. Going fancy can go off the rails rather quickly. I ordered a #6 on a GF bun and an order of fries. Easy. For the uninitiated, the #6 is the double bacon cheeseburger. That's two 50/50 beef/bacon patties, cheddar cheese, more bacon, onions, pickles, and spicy mustard. Sounds good, right? This isn't the type of burger I'd eat regularly (cholesterol worries and such) but when in Alabama...
The bun was surprisingly good. GF buns tend to disintegrate when touched. This held up to the burger and lasted through every bite. This is rare. The burger... was dry. The combo sounds good in theory but the execution was a bit lacking. It was fine. I mean beef, bacon, cheese, and onions... we're starting at a high level. But the meat mix needed a bit more fat in order to make up for the extra time/heat needed to properly cook the pork. The ratio was off. What bumped this review up a notch to a four, however, were the fries. The fries were hot, seasoned, crispy (with just the right amount of bite), and there were a lot of them. I'm always pleased when fries are a true side and not a sad sprinkling of cold, limp potatoes.
YMMV but... fries for the win!
