Discover cuts you can't find in stores anymore, coupled with customer service, variety, and the best quality. You can't go wrong with FFT! Real butchers worth getting to know!

Google
Farm Field Table has the absolute best beef products I’ve ever had locally. Their short ribs, ribeyes, ground beef and tenderloins are all phenomenal, and their whole chickens are absolutely delicious. Their brats and polish sausage are also significantly more flavorful than your typical grocery store counterparts. In addition, their staff is incredibly knowledgeable. I’ve learned so much about beef and pork anatomy from my conversations with the staff, and they’re always eager to recommend things based on your particular tastes or cooking methods. This is a local gem, and the ONLY place I’ll buy my local beef products.

Andrew Kughn

Google
Owner/butcher Matt and his team have procured an incredible variety of locally farm-raised meat, including pork, beef, rabbit, lamb, etc. all butchered on site, and their staff have an incredible wealth of knowledge that they are willing to share! We've already had tomahawk pork chops, rabbit, breakfast sausage, and will be enjoying a rack of lamb tonight! I can't encourage you enough to check this place out - satisfaction is guaranteed!

My husband & myself made our first visit to FF&T yesterday to purchase a couple of dry aged steaks. The gentleman behind the counter was super informative, friendly & patient with us. My hubby was just delighted with his t-bone & bone-in strip steaks. The andoullie sausages we got were too greasy to be usable, which was a bummer. We will be back, nonetheless!

Google
Super good customer service with great meats. Love that it’s pasture raised and local.

Google
It has significantly dropped in quality over the past couple of years. Worse quality and prices keep going up. There is no reason to get meat from here with other local butchers offering better product for cheaper.

Google
Already home with my goodies! Struck gold with a roast for Xmas- they supply the finest restaurants so we feel like we’ve saved lots buying and cooking our own! Gorgeous grass fed strips tonight- these folks know their stuff!! They were all incredibly helpful...ya gotta go👍

Google
I am giving a 2 star review in hopes that my FROZEN $169.00 Turkey tastes yummy. We have been ordering turkey’s from FFT for the last several years and they have not been frozen, but fresh. It was pretty surprising to have a frozen Turkey show up on the doorstep! The order form said fresh. This place should be called FARM FIELD FROZEN. I think of how many frozen turkey’s I could have bought from Kroger! FYI there is a great Turkey farm in Livonia called Roberti’s that raises the birds and they are fresh not frozen.

Yelp
Great information, good looking meat, respectable sourcing and now I know which days to come for even better selection.

Yelp
Meat is great! And the shipping service is great! I have yet to be disappointed after a year of going there!

Matthew C.

Yelp
Great cuts of meat. I bought there for a brunch we were hosting. Big hit. Will be back!

Yelp
I ordered a $100 gift card as a gift online. I received the confirmation, etc. but no gift card. When I called, emailed (twice), filled out the contact form on their website (twice) I didn't hear back. I finally got a hold of someone on the phone and she said she couldn't find my order and wasn't sure what to do. Based on my experience I wouldn't recommend going here. I am still hoping to hear back or I will dispute the charge with my credit card company.

Yelp
Placed an order for some bacon for me and femur bones for my dog. Went and did a pickup. The order was ready when I got there. The was wrapped in paper and the bone were in a ten pound bag. The young lady at the counter was super friendly and very helpful. While I was there I placed another order to pick up a week later. This is a very good place to business with.

Derek F.

Yelp
Farm field table is cool, if you love your meats and you want the best come to Ferndale and check out this place. Their choice beef and pork they have is very good. They are really helpful and can point you in the right direction selecting a cut of meat. And I liked the fresh made then frozen sausages that they had and their freezer. Oh and they had some sliced brisket that I took home and it was great. The meats that they offer are a little pricey but I enjoyed all the selections that I went home with. I won't hesitate to come back and spend some money on the good stuff. If you love your meat come check this place out I'm sure you'll find something you'll enjoy.

Yelp
I am ordering product wholesale because of what I do, but this is a small place and they take great pride in checking the product of their meat, and they also have a cheese counter. They do sell retail but they butcher it all themselves. They have been great to work with. They take time for any questions you have. The only thing since starting with them they've had a staff turnover in the wholesale sept and that gets a bit annoying. UPDATE: 4/20/18 I placed a 30lb order of bacon sliced thin. I'm told they will be ready today. I go to pick up and only 18 lbs is done and it's sliced thick instead of thin. Staff very friendly no doubt. The invoice clearly said sliced thinner than normal. They are going to deliver the remaining 12 lbs to me so I don't have to drive out. Good quality but first order did not go smoothly even though very nice to work UPDATE 9/6/19: Now that I am a regular I see how they do things and their level of customer service is excellent. I deal in wholesale so it's a bit different process. Excellent quality meat. Worth the money!

Carter N.

Yelp
As you can see from the pictures below the bacon was a joke. I also bought a steak from the store which I did not think was very good. I guess that is what happens when the store picks out your meat for you. Steak was tou How can you explain that much fat on bacon? The cheese from the cheese side was very good.

Mark F.

Yelp
I like it because it's local, close to me, and nice people. They rotate in and out a ton of stuff, so if you need something specific, call to make sure. I usually go in and then pick a few things from the big selection. And the Thanksgiving Turkey from there was great this year!

Donna V.

Yelp
What a delightful find. Fresh ingredients, nice service and a brilliant yard bar. A+ environment and just outside the hustle and bustle of Traverse City. Also superior house made beer and wine.

Pete G.

Yelp
Tried to order online, received e-mail confirmation but that was it.Waited for weeks and and not only did I not receive my order, I got zero response to multiple inquiries about it. Cancelled my order, and STILL got zero response. Deeply unimpressed.

Allyson M.

Yelp
It is such a pleasant experience every time we visit Farm Field Table. Staff is not only welcoming and charismatic, but they're also extremely knowledgeable about what they sell, and they don't make you feel embarrassed or awkward if you don't know what you're doing! This is such a special place because of their commitment to sourcing meats from humane, local, sustainable farms that they have real relationships with. I feel so lucky to have access to this shop because I know many people have to resort to grocery stores and factory farmed meats. The prices are absolutely reasonable, too. I highly recommend Farm Field Table if you want the best meats at the best price and you want to invest in your community.

Yelp
Sound the horns! This place is pretty awesome. I recently had a Groupon that expired and they allowed me to swap it for a new one. I punched in restaurants and this came up under a sub category. 25 for 40 less my trade in Groupon and less a 20% coupon. Hold up! I wasn't quite sure if this was for me. I reached out to a few Yelpers that had gone because nobody posted any prices on their reviews. I got great feedback (Thanks Yelpers), so I went to their website. When I look through their offerings, I notice just about everything is sold out. I call to inquire and the guy on the phone explains that what is on the website isn't what they have in house. Their physical store has much more and changes almost daily based on what they purchase. I head to this place on my break. It was a bit difficult to find the first time, not real difficult but I want to whine a bit today. I see a somewhat small counter packed with different cuts from lamb to pork to beef. They also have Waygu steaks front and center in the display case for 37 a pound. The guy at the counter couldn't have been better at educating me on cuts and favorites. We are talking a good 10-15 minutes of me asking questions. Customer service is above and beyond here. As I get ready to buy some meat I look at the chalk board behind the counter displaying: Lamb Shanks 7.99 a pound plus 10% off and Boneless beef shanks 7.99 a pound plus 10% off. Now my decision gets tougher. I settle on two Waygu steaks, which wipes out my Groupon plus some and 1.5 pounds of boneless beef short ribs for around 8 a pound. They Waygu was pretty awesome. We cooked them just under medium rare and no knife require. We haven't cooked the short ribs yet but will soon. What I did like about this place, besides the services, is that you can spend a little or a lot and based on the day you go you may see animals or cuts you haven't had before. Overall A+

Bob N.

Yelp
OMG, I found out from my neighbor about FFT so i went right there after work. I was looking for beef ribs and boy did I find them, see the pic.I also purchased some of the best pork chops I've had in years. Old school heritage pork you know the kind with fat and flavor. In the same space is a cheese monger whom I also purchased a nice raw cheese from.

Bill M.

Yelp
So I love small local businesses and support them whenever I can. I've shopped at FFT several times and the experience is always good. I am a little disappointed today because I checked the website and it showed that pork butts were available. I want to buy a couple for the smoker for tomorrow. I drove 6 miles and showed up at around noon on a Saturday. Nice lady inside greets me and I ask for a couple bone in butts. " Oh, I'm sorry sir,we've been out. The butchers are here Monday through Friday and we always run out of pork butts and ribs on the weekend " . Guys - it's noon on a Saturday in August where everyone BBQ's and you run out of butts and ribs every week? Early on a Saturday? Just a friendly suggestion but perhaps it would be wise to stock up on stuff like this for the weekend? I love you and I'll come back but please be prepared to sell me some basic stuff when I make the effort to drive that far. Thanks

Julie B.

Yelp
Awesome customer service! I went in not knowing what I wanted and walked out with Waygu Sirloin Steaks, beef bones for soup and ground beef. The steaks were amazingly tender and moist. It was a very difficult decision everything was reasonably priced. Once I got there, they had lamb, pork, and I think turkey. Next time I want to try the chorizo. Everything is fresh and not frozen and hasn't been pre-frozen. When I asked for the bones the butcher went straight to the back and cut them for me. I will definitely be going back!

Anthony K.

Yelp
Bought a 2-pack beef filet (no choice, prepackaged) advertised as 2 8oz steaks. They didn't even look like the same cut of beef. One weighed 9.5 oz, the other, 7.5 oz with a strip of fat or connective tissue running down the side which was disguised by the package label. If you would have ordered 2 filet dinners in a chop house and were served these two pieces of meat, you would have surely sent one back. Many cuts are prepackaged here preventing proper inspection before purchase, distorted view of product, and no choice in quantity. Instead of enjoying a special meal, had to spend time apologizing for ridiculous portion difference. If you prefer an unobstructed view of what it is you are going to eat and be able to decide for yourself how much of it you want, you may wish to shop elsewhere.

Yelp
Ordered a subscription bundle 6 weeks ago with multiple promised shipping dates and still have not received anything. Good thing I had delayed the subscription for 8 weeks, I'd be waiting on 2 now. I would be hesitant about using the walk-in service if they take care of the food like they do their customers. Have tried to call several times with no luck. Tried to leave yet another message but the mailbox is full.

Jalisa S.

Yelp
Super friendly and knowledgeable. I've really enjoyed all the meats I've gotten from here. If you can I would join the Facebook page, they post when they refill the case which is really helpful.

Heather G.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I have been here twice in the past month. The first time I went to pick up some filet's because my boyfriend and I were going to have a nice dinner. My boyfriend is super picky and ONLY likes filet. Unfortunately, they were out of filet. However, Frank put me on something called a ribeye filet? Long story short it's basically if a filet and ribeye had a baby and you got the best of both worlds. Frank even relabled it for me as "filet" so I could trick my boyfriend and get his pretentious opinion without being influenced by thinking it was anything but filet. I also ended up just getting some scallops, which they don't have all the time. O MY GOD. These may have been the best scallops I've ever eaten. Sweet and perfect size. I just let them rest of the counter for about 15 min with paper towel and lightly salted and peppered both sides. Put them in a hot pan for about a min each side. Second side I put some butter, I got from the store attached to Farm Field Table, and basted them while they finished cooking. I finished it off with a squeeze of lemon and holy cow. OUT OF THIS WORLD. I called on whim today to see if they had any and THEY DID! I work midnights and wasn't able to get there right away to pick them up so Frank let me place and pay for an order over the phone. Frank also recommended some hanger steak for a stirfry i'm making. I showed up at about 7:05pm (they close at 7) to pick up my goodies and Frank was there waiting with them. Such a nice guy. This is my new go to meat place!

Patrick R.

Yelp
Super cool local butcher shop with some farm fresh meats and sausages. It's the guys from the mulefoot gastropub in Imlay city. They have a great sense for flavor and for quality meats. The meat is if the highest quality, and although higher than a grocery store, the price is still reasonable. Finding the business is a bit of challenge since it's in the mostly industrial area between ferndale and pleasant ridge...but it's worth the effort. I expect fun and exciting things as they work to establish themselves in the area.

David W.

Yelp
Went there for the first time yesterday. The selection was low but this is due to COVID-19. What was available was still excellent looking cuts. You may also order online to get what they do not currently have in the store. We bought some beef jerky (EXCELLENT flavor), some filet mignon, which my son is cooking right now, a whole chicken, some swordfish, and some hot links. Had the swordfish last night and it was a superb steak!!! I would recommend them to anyone who wants superior meat and service.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Wow, this place is wonderful! They have a vast array of pork, chicken, turkey and beef. Considering this place is relatively new, it was pretty busy on a Wednesday afternoon; definitely a good sign. I was craving some good ribeye and they carry dry aged ribeye and wagyu. They didn't have the dry aged ribeye in stock but they did have the wagyu. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try the wagyu. They said the wagyu is dry aged longer and the marbling on the meat is amazing!! My husband cooked this on the cast iron and it had an amazing crust while it melted in your mouth. Most definitely one of the best steaks if not the best I have ever tasted! They freshly cut the steak as requested; 1.5 inch thick with bone at 1.75 pounds each! The total was very reasonable considering wagyu is usually almost double the price for thinner, smaller steaks. I will definitely be back soon to try their other meats and their regular dry aged ribeye. If you want high end restaurant quality steak, definitely try their steak!!

Wayne H.

Yelp
Went to FFT this morning (May 3, 2019) looking to pick up a couple of nice steaks for the weekend. It's a bit hard to find, buried behind a house on Woodward Heights; but once I found the place I was not disappointed. Frank took care of my order. His passion for what he does is contagious and it's clear from the start you're dealing with someone who believes in the adage "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life"...for Frank, this isn't work, it's an avocation. Warning: If you expect Meijer or Wal-Mart prices, go to Meijer or Wal-Mart. I expected to pay premium prices, and I was not wrong. But the gorgeous pieces of meat I was shown were beyond my expectations...I immediately proposed marriage to them. All in all...when I have a little extra cash and want to spend it on high quality meat, this is the place to go. Thank you, Frank, I'll be seeing you again!!!

Yelp
Convenient location. Free parking. Delicious food. More of a take-out place but has plenty of seating. We had soup and it was delicious and filling. We also grabbed a few things to take back to our room for dinner and were equally happy. We will go back when we visit Traverse City again.

Rebecca P.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this place. My husband and I found this place from a google search after deciding to take our health seriously and stop putting sick meat full of antibiotics and hormones into our bodies. We have now been coming here exclusively for all of our meats for around 5 months. We both feel better. Less bogged down after meals, less bloated, more energy, on and on. The quality of this meat is superior and it's noticeable in the taste. It's also got me to branch out and try new cuts... I've even started to like bacon (weird I know but I hated bacon until I had bacon from here). If you need directions on cooking a particular cut just ask Frank (I always do) he always has great ideas and is happy to help. I'm so happy I've found this place! (Try the bacon, bone in pork chops, and any of their steaks - I like the Denver and the Chuck Eye ... you won't regret it)

Greg B.

Yelp
This is my first stop at the farm field table. What a great place to get good information as well as fresh meat and awesome cuts. They say you should always know your butcher and I believe that's true. Frank helped me out today. This was my first time to buy beef bacon, and I didn't truly know how to cook it right. Frank helped me out by giving me suggestions of the proper way to cook the bacon so I can enjoy the flavor to the fullest. I will be back it's a small town butcher right in Ferndale.

Caleb Y.

Yelp
Very nice spot! I am excited to know it is around now that I have used it. I am sure I will be going back - I ordered a chuck eye roast 8 lbs. for an Xmas dinner and the quality of the meat was fantastic. I am happy to know they do whole animal butchery in house and source all meat from only local MI farms. I am a please customer!

Joe M.

Yelp
Pros: Knowledgeable and friendly help. Advertise a wide array of cuts. They have the absolute best pork shoulder for smoking, when it's in stock. Cons: They've been out of stock of pork shoulder every time I've tried for the past couple months. I got burned twice in person and have called 4 times with no luck. This isn't an exotic meat or cut so I'm not sure if they're having business growing pains or what. I have no problem driving far out of my way and paying a premium for good meat but they have to have it in stock. I love to cook and host often and they've lost hundreds of dollars in business from me alone by not stocking what I need. I really want to love this place but unfortunately I've had to find a new butcher, hence the low score.

Joe B.

Yelp
Really great quality. Staff is super friendly. It's awesome to have a good local butcher in our area. Definitely will be back to try more of the offerings. Great job Farm Field Table!

Heidi G.

Yelp
Great place for extremely fresh meat and very knowledgeable people. They can custom cut for you as well. Highly recommend... it is hard to review. Look for wolcott

Scott W.

Yelp
Just heard about this place a couple of days ago. I'd recommend using navigation to find it, because it's very unassuming, tucked in a small space in the industrial area of ferndale. It's small, and totally adorable (totes adorbz for you youngsters). They won't have a mile of meat like a Kroger or Holiday Market, but they do have locally sourced, high quality meat. You'll pay a little extra, but it's worth it. I just got a bird that weighed about 4.5 lbs. cost $18. That's only a couple bucks more than a bird from holiday (which is shipped from Indiana). They also have Michigan wagyu beef, they had pork jowels, different cuts of lamb you can't get anywhere else, maybe aside from eastern market. All of their product is fresh, which really helps the meat retain all of its flavor. The dude who waited on me seemed to really dig his job. Super nice guy. I will be going back for sure, and when I do, I may be picking myself up a cutting board that they have for sale, as well as one of their dope ass bottle opener wall hanging thingymajig.

Adam C.

Yelp
Very helpful and awesome cuts of meat. The wagyu is worth the price Salami sticks are great too!

Dana W.

Yelp
I was looking for Lamb Chops for my Easter Dinner. My husband suggested I go to a local butcher. I went into yelp and found Farm Field Table. This little gem is tucked back in an industrial park. You'd never think to look here. All I have to say is they are a must try. I got eight thick center cut lamb chops for about $57 dollars. I will be returning for future buys.

Zack B.

Yelp
I've been tracking Matt and his brother since the start of the Mulefoot Gastropub in Imlay City. Farm Field Table is the next great thing from them. The products and service are unmatched. Can't wait to go back!

Niles A.

Yelp
Vegans Keep Out! Lol Hidden Gem in Ferndale Michigan! They got it all Wagyu Steaks, Kobe, Tomahawks, Whatever. I bought 4 tomahawks on a Saturday, thought I'd cook them Sunday for dinner but didn't get to it till Wednesday and they were still fresh! The guys were very helpful there! Thanks, will be back soon!

Bob S.

Yelp
Go and you'll be glad you took the time.. Learn and enjoy how MEAT was meant to be happily enjoyed..

Joel E.

Yelp
My wife and I found this place with a Groupon. We selected a variety of sausages, meats, and steak. I used our ground beef to make a late lunch of cheeseburger sliders. Delicious. The meat was tender and juicy - without that grocery store "greasiness". The staff were helpful and friendly. This was our first time, but definately not the last. Another outstanding "Ferndale Find"...

Bernice T.

Yelp
I had a GREAT experience shopping at the FFT. I bought Pork Shoulders and Bacon. These guys are amazing to care about local Farmers and us Customers. It's comforting to know I have somewhere to buy clean safe Fish and Meats. The service is fabulous.

Max F.

Yelp
Went to pick up some picanha (sirloin/rump cap) and they had two left, I picked up the one that had some of the fat cap missing, healthier and cheaper than the other, lol. It was very good, as someone who grew up in Argentina and had lots of picanha this sits high in terms of quality.

R. M.

Yelp
I went here with high expectations based on the reviews. I am a pretty knowledgeable food consumer and have been buying direct from producers for a while... We have dry cured our own bacon, made sausage, cleaned our own chickens, etc... The customer service was fine. The selection was slim. That could have been because it was a weekday... They were butchering whole animals in the back... My real complaint is that the value added products were not very good. The "Italian" sausage was not "Italian" at all. It tasted like the sausage served in a Texas BBQ joint, which is fine but not "Italian" . The breakfast sausage we sampled and threw out. I have an adventurous palate and it was gross. The Cottage Bacon " it will taste like ham" had a very strange flavor profile. That too got tossed... To me, the place felt like a processing facility for their restaurant needs and for some of their friends in the food service business. The consumer business was secondary.

Peter L.

Yelp
Such a pleasure having these guys in Grosse Pointe. Extremely knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. Looking forward to picking up my turkey on Wednesday.

Michele M.

Yelp
Super friendly employees, great product, reasonable prices. I just wish it was closer to Troy! We loved the bacon and steaks. Will definiltely return.

Joseph I.

Yelp
I went in on a Saturday 2-17-18 about 4:00 PM there was one person working. After a 45 minute wait, I left without any product. The customers in front of me were getting a $9.00 piece of sausage they wanted to be sliced there friends came in and asked for the same thing. He grabbed them a piece and went in back to slice it. I waited for a little longer then left empty-handed. Too bad, I planned on buying quite a few items as they are not close to me. I'll just stick to Hefflings their probably better anyway...

Peanut Q.

Yelp
Life changing experience ! Amazing store! The meat is fantastic, cheese is amazing, and they got chocolate too! This is the kind of store for foodies like me. I consider myself as a decent cook and a picky grocery shopper. Better quality meat than plum market, way better priced . The staffs were very helpful, they love their business , and know what they are doing. Definitely going to be a frequent costumer !!

Mike R.

Yelp
Great location, quality meat and cheese, and super nice, knowledgeable people. Kind of pricy though. I paid about 2.5 times more than I would've at a non-boutique butcher. That being said, it's packaged nicely and the cuts are quality...plus they had cheese!

W S.

Yelp
The only place I will buy my meat, I have been coming here just about as long as they have been open and everything I have bought has been amazing. The beef is as fresh as it gets and is grass fed and not raised in a factory farm. They made a slab of brisket in to a corned beef brisket for me recently and I can not wait to cook it up and try it. They also have bones for dogs and last time I stopped in I was able to get a pigs tail for my dog and she loved it. I very highly recommend that if you love beef that you try this place out its worth the little bit more money for the great quality not to mention its way better for you as well. They also have pork and chicken as well, and have amazing bacon and sausages as well.

Michele A.

Yelp
You will never eat better meat. I got a ribeye and it was the most amazing thing I ever ate. I will never be able to eat other meat. The flavors were so fresh and amazing. My husband and I split the steak which we cooked in a cast iron pan (its not BBQ weather ) and it was great. I cannot wait to come back, the staff was so nice and friendly. Eat local and taste the difference.

Aaron R.

Yelp
Love, love, love, love this place! Very knowledgeable people and a wide array of cuts. I don't want to go anywhere else!
