Bagel Maker Daily Driver Has Closed Its Cow Hollow Location in San Francisco - Eater SF

"Friends have launched a $20,000 GoFundMe campaign to support Sarah Deigert, owner of San Francisco's breakfast speakeasy and catering business Farm:Table. Deigert is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, including chemo and a double mastectomy, while recovering from the pandemic’s impact on the restaurant. The cafe remains open for breakfasts featuring lavender lattes, breakfast sandwiches, sourdough French toast, and more." - Justine Jones

A cozy little breakfast gem on the post street in SF Downtown. It's a good spot to sip a coffee & sandwich. Small indoor & outdoor dine inn space. About the food: They have limited options in their menu where all dishes are unique from regular restaurants. We tried the toast & skillet omelette both were okayish taste. I felt the veggies in the omelette were frozen or premade. it was a bit pricey ($23 for a small portion of skillet omelette is very high) They didn't offer or care to refill coffee. Plus they put some weird rules to not to use phone for calls / laptops.

Google
Such a cute spot! Across the street from the hotel I was staying at. I had the cinnamon maple latte. Perfect amount of foam on top! Customer service was super friendly and I even got a free taster of a chocolate cake “because they had extra”. It was buttery deliciousness! I would absolutely go back if I had the chance!

Google
Food was fresher than fresh, perfectly prepared, and the owner delightful. We went on a Friday and ate outside in the charming space. The traffic was surprisingly quiet and the street/sidewalks on the block very clean. Go here soon!

Google
The cutest spot for breakfast! We loved how dog friendly they were (they even brought out a little breakfast for our dog!) The daily toast was one of the best things we’ve ever eaten. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Google
I’m not sure whether this place deserves 4 or 5 stars. The granola is excellent, really good. The toast was good, but way too sweet. The coffee, especially the espresso was only okay-ish: a bit thin, not very intense. Why I decided to give 5 stars anyway? Because of the great service.

Google
Had the best experience at this cozy spot. We got a sunny little table outside and had a sweet brunch. The host was so sweet and welcoming which made the experience so special. I enjoyed the veggie skillet and the hot chocolate.

Google
The staff was few, but very nice. They were dog friendly and gave my pet some nice fresh meat treats while I looked at the menu. This is a restaurant not a cafe, so you either order to-go or for there… no sitting unless you’re THERE. The tuna salad on toast was great. The portions were a bit small. The side salad was awesome. The dressing was good and the vegetables were FRESH. It surprisingly hard to get a good quality side salad out here! There’s not a lot of indoor seating. This is mostly for outdoors. A great place for an outdoor sidewalk seating, coffee and bite to eat before the afternoon winds start up. I’ll be back!

Google
A perfect place to start the day! Cozy and inviting inside with lots of outdoor seating on the sidewalk with bistro tables and chairs with umbrellas. Drinks and food were so flavorful and fresh. Owner was running the show and making magic happen. She was attentive to everyone and gave us some great recommendations to explore in the city. Luckily we found this spot across from our hotel, we had coffee and breakfast everyday of our stay here.

Yelp
Is this the tiniest breakfast in the city? With a super mini latte and personal sized skillet, you get this cute but filling meal! The fresh and homemade ingredients add into all the yummy flavors (ask if they have their housemade spicy sauce available too). Aside from the comforting menu, the interior is a super cozy setting with the corner window area being my fave. This is more of a slow pace local spot, and they also have a no laptop or cell phone rule so come in ready for a chill break from the tech and city life. Be sure to check out their page for more updates on hours and community events!

Yelp
I didn't looooove this spot honestly. While I love the fact that it's farm to table (as is the name) and the blue matcha latte was pretty (my picture shows it after I took a sip already, oops) I can't say that the flavor of the matcha was very high quality or outstanding, and the breakfast sandwich on a croissant, while it tasted like it certainly was farm to table, didn't taste necessarily better than a non-farm-to-table sandwich. I would give this place another try, and it's a cute place with a few tables outside so it's a nice solo date moment, but it just didn't wow me. Perhaps it was an off day. But if you're looking for a quick bite and you're in the area maybe give this place a shot and see what you think. The service was kind.

Yelp
We discovered farm.table on a trip to SF and are so glad we did! We started with amazing lattes-my friend had the Nutella latte and I had the maple cinnamon latte-which was so good I came back the next day for another . We shared the French toast which was delectable and the frittata with added sausage which was super yummy. To top of off all the decor in the restaurant is created by a local artist and we were able to purchase some. Great souvenir from SF! Sarah, the owner is absolutely lovely. Check out farm.table!

Yelp
What a find, small restaurant in Haight Ashbury, sidewalk seating and dog friendly. They brought our son's dog a bowl of water and food, nice touch. They served us cappuccinos with foam art, along with a little cup of fruit. Service was very friendly and food came out as quick as homemade food can be made. I ordered the yogurt and homemade granola which comes with strawberry's and compote, awesome! I also ordered the daily toast, it's a "large" piece of brioche bread covered with marscipone and strawberries, my oh my, just fantastic. Also ordered was the avocado toast which my wife said was the best she'd ever had and an our sons ordered the breakfast sandwiches. It was unanimous that we'd all eat here regularly if we lived here.

Kalynn M.

Yelp
The cutest, coziest little breakfast spot. Everyone who works here is so friendly and everything is fresh. Highly recommend :)

Yelp
Delicious coffee, yummy food and great service. Whether you're sitting inside or outside, this spot is super cozy! It truly has a San Francisco charm to it from the music to design. Limited seating so be sure to come early or not mind a wait! Appeared to be a neighborhood favorite which makes it feel like home.

Yelp
The food and the coffee is very good, is a place to enjoy freshly prepared food and not for a grab and go, there are variations on the menu per days. Sarah also got nice recommendations of things to do in the city, so if you're interested make sure to ask. Will love to come back if in town again.

Yelp
Service was very slow, but my goodness was our meal and coffee good. This is the kind of place I've missed since returning to SF.

Yelp
This place is such a gem. My family of five was looking for a more authentic experience in SF and fell in love with this spot. The woman who served us was so passionate and attentive and patient with our family. I loved the avocado toast and she assembled our kids Nutella toast with adorable faces. 10/10 recommend for a full tummy and smiles!

Yelp
Went here on a Wednesday morning with my friend. I got the Merpeople Latte with oat milk and the Daily Toast, she got the Breakfast on Brioche. The servers were pretty nice and checked in on us regularly even though we were sitting outside. I was really disappointed in the Merpeople Latte. It didn't taste like matcha in the slightest, and kind of just tasted like watered-down oat milk. Ended up not finishing it. The Daily Toast was alright. It did have a good amount of fruit on it and the mascarpone was decent. The bread was really soft, which I liked. It wasn't anything special, though, and not worth it at all. What really got me was the prices. They're not listed on the menu, so you literally have no idea while ordering. The Merpeople latte was $7.10, the toast was $14, and the brioche was $20. Ridiculous prices even for SF, honestly. Won't be coming back. Wish they had prices on the menu.

Yelp
Very cute and quaint walk up coffee shop. Vegan friendly menu. Ordered americano and rose something latte. Owners were very friendly and welcoming. It was right across our hotel. Very convenient. They had a few outside seating along the sidewalk.

Yelp
I adore everything about this place! First of all, the model of using ingredients from local farms and having a more direct path to the customer is fantastic. My meal was fresh, delicious, and the maple cinnamon hot chocolate was the perfect drink for a winter morning. I also wanted to leave a review because it's not just the food and model that I love - Sarah cares about the community and it really shows. She dotes on customers' dogs, holds fundraisers for Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, and even gives out chew toys as presents! I always see her greet people by name and give delicious, human-grade food to her favorite dogs (ham, brisket, amazing stuff). Some things to keep in mind for people who are extra discerning: There is indoor and outdoor seating, but it's very limited (around 2 tables inside and 4-5 tables plus 3 window stools outside). The menu prices change according to the availability of ingredients, which I personally don't mind because ethical sourcing doesn't always guarantee regularity. It is a little bit on the pricier side as well, so perhaps not something I can have everyday (though one can dream!) Overall, I am more than happy to pay for the quality, love, and model shown here. Truly a neighborhood gem and a great place to stop by on quiet mornings!

Yelp
Server/owner was incredibly unfriendly, rude, and unaccommodating with each interaction. Do you even want customers? Sure didn't feel like it. We waited 20+ minutes for a latte. Not because it was busy, but because she was chatting with someone in front of us. No apology...just slammed it on the table at her convenience. No eye contact or thanking us for our business as we left. How does one keep doors open with such rude behavior? We are kind customers and this behavior was disrespectful and undeserving of our money and time. The chef deserves 5 stars. She was friendly, grateful, respectful. If you want friendly service and to feel like your business is appreciated, go elsewhere. Food is pricey and not everything has a price listed. I'm having a hard time understanding how the doors stay open here since there are several reviews mentioning the rude behavior. Bad day? We all get those...taking it out on customers isn't serving your business well. Maybe the chef should work with customers. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Yelp
I came for the daily toast but was very disappointed knowing that it wasn't available today. So I tried the eggs on croissant and added ham. It was surprisingly good! The croissant was toasted to extremely crispy and upon biting in, the crumbs fell all over my pants lol. The egg was cooked just right that it has the silky texture without flowing all over my hand. The egg white tasted as light as air. The egg, vegetables and the sauce inside made the sandwich very juicy. Even without their famous daily toast, this dish itself is a good enough reason to come back. I still wish they'll have the daily toast or at least post their menu online every morning. And it's be nice to have more bakery items in addition to the brunch menu.

Yelp
This place is great!! As for Ambiance its one of my go-tos for breakfast when friends visit. my favorites are the special: one time they have egg English muffin sandwitches that were the best English muffins I've ever had!!! any you order is quality!! Staff is always nice and accommodating !

Yelp
Came here early morning and I was walking up they were setting up their outdoor seating area...was a little chilly but not overly so I didn't mind eating out here instead of bringing it back to my hotel. I got an Oat Milk Latte which was pretty good. For Breakfast - Farm Table Vegan Scramble Just Eggs Scrambled With Chef Choice Of Veggies And Vegan Breakfast Sausage Served With Greens. Not bad overall would recommend it if you were staying nearby. Friendly staff and they began helping me prior to being all setup so I commend them on that as well!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! I've waited in the quintessential breakfast lines all over the city for meh food time and time again, but this place stands out and we didn't even wait in a line at 9am on Sunday morning. They're dog welcoming (provided my large dog a little blanket to sit/lay on under our table, and gave her a water bowl and brought her breakfast for free! Dog is used to going out with us and she believed she was in dog heaven with this kind of attention and treatment.) This place is small and the seating is mostly outside in a nicely appointed, clean and umbrella'd parklett Now the food. Wow. I had the beet hummus wrap which was phenomenal. Dining partner opted for the breakfast burrito which is reported to be fresh and light. We both had lattes which were also delicious. Farm to table is such a buzzword to toss into the culinary scene, but this establishment really embraces the concept. Its not cheap but paying for local, fresh quality. Most every ingredient is made in-house or grown/raised. Menu changes based on what's locally available. Farm: Table is going to be put on our regular City breakfast/brunch rotation.
google avatar

Sharon C.

Yelp
A cute and small place to eat breakfast/brunch. Every other place has an extremely long line or is super crowded and we were happy to find this place to have cute parklets that were available right away. Got the yogurt granola parfait and the burrata toast. Both were good and did the job of being a light breakfast food. Coffee was also okay, got the pug honey latte and cappuccino. Really cute how they provide free food for dogs. Came in a double bowl with water and the food. Our pup loved it.

Yen D.

Yelp
Came here since I read reviews about how great this place was for brunch. They didn't have any brioche toast with mascapone and fruit so I got the breakfast croissant with egg, greens and the owner gave me both house ham and avocado since I couldn't make up my mind. Even though I came 15 min to close, she didn't mind me eating there because she would be cleaning for the next 45 minutes. I was already hopped up on caffeine so I just needed water. The breakfast croissant hit the spot with the perfect combo of runny yolk, avocado, ham and greens on a toasted croissant. I saw someone try to buy pastries from here while I was eating and she sells out quickly, also not knowing what she will bake but decides about it later on during the day. She also offered me some leftover kimchi which I gladly took off her hands. It is made in house and is quite good. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Farm : Table is awesome! An unexpected gem on Post St, this spot is cozy and doesn't cost your whole wallet. Indoor and outdoor seating to choose from and fresh ingredients. This spot is accommodating, delicious, and makes me feel like I'm apart of the neighborhood community. The brioche bun for a breakfast sandwich, a cappuccino, and their quick and friendly service hits the spot every time.
google avatar

Dina M.

Yelp
Two days in a row back at this place . The Nutella latte is divine ! Love the lox bagel as well. It's the hole in the wall you've been looking for.

Heston L.

Yelp
The service was remarkably brusque and curt. We were made to feel rushed and unwelcome. Orders can not be modified (emphatically and unapologetically). Cell phones and laptops are strictly prohibited indoors (they call it 'mindful dining.' Wish they could explain it to the kids). Food is satisfactory, but be advised that no sides are served with your breakfast; so if you order a breakfast sandwich, your plate will have nothing but a sandwich on it. Maybe an alright option if you're on-the-go, but not recommended for a sit-down brunch.
google avatar

Diana L.

Yelp
A beautiful respite in a less than welcoming neighborhood. Sarah is no nonsense, but you can tell there is so much heart and care behind not only her food, but also the decor. She makes a small indoor space homey, filled with pictures of pugs (her favorite) and a themed ceiling that changes with seasons. The food is made to order, delicious, beautifully displayed and good portion size. The rose vanilla latte is on point! The French toast is covered with fresh raspberries. When the weather is warm, the outdoor seating carries the ambience out into the streets.

Jenny P.

Yelp
We had a delicious breakfast here. Very cute small neighborhood centered cafe. The owner was handling all the tables, drinks, food, and some business phone calls all at the same time. Lovely regulars jumped in to assist with water and menus. Even though she was very busy she was friendly and the food was great! A bit pricey, but what isn't in SF.
google avatar

Marie L.

Yelp
Very cute little place. Perfect for brunch. I would recommend getting here early as it can get busy quickly.
google avatar

Jenny X.

Yelp
A cute little place that gave a free bakery item when we went! There is ample outdoor seating in the park let and the service does take a while but I enjoyed the scenery and a nice Sunday brunch here. The egg avocado toast was really goood super savory and had great flavor though was on the smaller side. The daily toast had great bread but the persimmon made the dish a bit bitter and less palatable. Friendly to dogs too!
google avatar

Lizzy B.

Yelp
Good coffee and amazing breakfast options, small place with few tables but am always happily satisfied when I visit this cafe!!!
google avatar

Edward Y.

Yelp
If we were rating the food specifically, I would give this cafe three stars. The breakfast sandwich was the better option but not a fan of the breakfast burrito. The burrito was filled with potato, egg, and sausage then covered in a red sauce with pulled pork. The sausage inside the burrito was on the sweeter side which did not make it as appetizing. I was also informed they already made the burrito beforehand so I think they reheat it before serving it to the guest. The latte was delicious though. They have some really nice drink options! The staff was very attentive which is why I rated the cafe as four stars. Note that they do not list the prices on their menu so it comes as a surprise when you get the bill.
google avatar

Olivia G.

Yelp
The owner seemed overwhelmed and isn't great when it comes to customer service. I took my niece just 15 years old visiting from out of town. She said this lady is not nice. Her answers were short and she was rude. The food of course was still delicious. I will not recommend or come back. Which is a shame because I'm going to miss the toast!
google avatar

Anmol V.

Yelp
Unreasonably priced Poor service Bad food - they don't follow instructions on how you want your food cooked. Charged us $60 for two sandwiches and 2 coffees
google avatar

Vee V.

Yelp
It's as fresh as can get at @farmtable! They're a local SF micro-cafe specializing in mostly local, sustainable, and homemade ingredients. Majority of their items come from local businesses, such as chocolate from local chocolatier Dandelion Chocolate, coffee beans from Roast Co Coffee of Oakland, and chai from Pirate Chai company in Santa Cruz. Their menu changes everyday depending on what fresh ingredients they get that day and menu items are served all day until sold out! The owner, Sarah, is so kind and is such a great cook, she single handedly made everything you see here! Check out her amazing latte art skills. All the food tasted so amazingly fresh and it felt great knowing that you're supporting local businesses in the Bay Area. You HAVE to try their homemade granola cereal with homemade yogurt! They also have vegan items, even vegan free pastries, that blew me away with the taste. This is also the perfect place for a date with your dog because they have a doggie menu! I ordered: Yogurt Parfait: Homemade Yogurt, Key Lime Curd Berries And House Cereal Farm Table Breakfast Sandwich: Served On Croissant, Soft Egg, Cheese, Creme Fraiche With Choice Of Avocado Or Ham SALMON Toast With Creme Fraiche Pickled Red Onion Soft Egg N Greens Pastry Of The Day : Pancake Muffin Fruit Toast

Yelp
We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast this morning. Thank you to the owner Sarah for caring so much about her menu and customers. And yes your dog friendly attitude is a big plus +.
google avatar

Katie Q.

Yelp
Fair warning, when you enter the very small restaurant you are sort of greeted by the cook/waiter, she is salty and direct, but attentive. At first I was annoyed, but after we sat inside, most seating on the sidewalk, we had a good meal. Food and drinks came out fast. All the complaints here about no pricing on the menu has been resolved. We saw pricing. Not cheap, each dish for our party was well over 20.00 for each breakfast savory item. The food is good, they know how to make eggs, which is a big deal for me. Not too large or too small of portions, great greens with protein. I got the avocado toast with smoked salmon, my son had the French toast, and my mother got a croissant sandwich, all well done. If you are looking for amazing decor, friendly sweet service, don't come here. Oh and the comments about the area, it's completely safe, and urban. Sounds like some of the people commenting here need to go back to fisherman's wharf.
google avatar

Michaela C.

Yelp
Getting the honey late iced coffee breakfast toast and burritos can't wait. Serious staff but seems promising. Update burritos were amazing filling and HUGE. Love the range of hot sauces and the daily toast was so dainty and light def tasted pretty lol
google avatar

Roxy H.

Yelp
Had not been back in Years pre pandemic. The neighborhood has definitely gone a little down but the coffee and food was great we ordered a breakfast burrito with house made sausage and chili, a salmon bagel with house made creme cheese with add of Tomatoes. The daily toast as well, with two coffees and one latte. Prices not listed but that makes sense they source local . Overall great and in line with most pricing in SF. Local fire department even stopped by for coffee, very nice to see. Table service an added plus.
google avatar

Andy O.

Yelp
https://www.farmtablesf.com/menu.html there menu changes daily and they run out of bread so come early if you want the daily toast. The coffee is good. There's currently only outdoor seating.
google avatar

Rainbow W.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance, service and vibe. Highly recommend croissant sandwhich. Owner is a doll. Will be back!
google avatar

Evelyn L.

Yelp
I'm back.. 9 years later and this place is still amazing!! I enjoy the bagel and lox, daily toast, and honey latte. I will say that I did prefer when the items were simple- the extra things like salad, sausage, etc for me, is not needed. The service in terms of wait time could have been a bit faster - considering there were no people in front of us or sitting down -when we order.
google avatar

Ngoc My H.

Yelp
A pretty modest and small breakfast and brunch place in the city. This place doesn't get too packed on the weekends and is perfect for a quick bite or an hour sit down brunch with a friend. There's minimal seating inside--Probably 8 people max. Outside seats about 15 more people. The prices are pretty cheap and service is pretty quick. Egg on Croissant: Egg, cheese, ham, and lettuce inside a fluffy crossaint with mayo. To be honest, it's just average and kind of bland. Only the ham gives the sandwich taste. I was pretty disappointed. Matcha Chai Latte: Pretty good chai with only a little bit of matcha-- you honestly can't taste the matcha at all. It's not too sweet and I like the mellow flavors. Overall and pretty good place for a quick brunch but nothing special.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Good little breakfast spot. Super tiny and there's one table inside for group but the rest of the seating is outside and in the communal public seating areas the city built. Got the avocado toast which was just alright. It was more lemony than I thought it should be, and definitely needed more salt. We weren't the only ones who thought that as few others were grabbing salt, borrowing from from our table. The lavender latte was good but didn't really get the lavender taste. Latte art was pretty though
google avatar

Megan A.

Yelp
Right across from my hotel stay for Outside Lands, this small cafe truly provided the best breakfast sandwich to power me through each long festival day. Even though they were super busy, the staff was quick to take orders, provide water, clean tables, and have my food out in a jiffy. On top of that the Honey Latte was just so delicious. Hope to come by in the future when I'm in town for work!
google avatar

Sadie G.

Yelp
I was wondering what places had a good breakfast. I did a google search and this place had nice reviews. I walked over to try it out and they did not disappoint. I had water, the Nutella hot chocolate and the avocado toast. The pickled cabbage just took it to another level. Great service, and great food.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
This is a small walk up coffee, tea and breakfast stop just outside of the tenderloin. Small tables line the street area just outside. Tables are reserved for those ordering sit down. Lots of locals call this their place for their coffee fix! Friend staff and an awesome locally sourced and fresh ingredients. I can remember what is was called but it was spectacular and large enough for two people to share. If you're a coffee drinker, they have a wide variety of different types of coffees and specialty coffee's. I downgraded it one star because the chairs were uncomfortable but that's more my problem. Great staff, tasty brunch and you've got to try their Sparkling Blue Berry Lavender Lemonade. Out of this world! Next time we are in the neighborhood, we will be back to try some of their other menu items.
google avatar

Yelp
All I know is that when this place first opened it was open to 4:00pm? What's the deal with these early risers living in San Francisco? Not all of us moved out of San Francisco during the pandemic. Just saying....
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
Fresh food; funny people! Pleasant. Mostly takeout but a few tables outside! We had the vegetarian quiche and the Avocado Toast. Both came with a small fresh side salad of greens. Coffee was good too! Owner was involved with all the cooking and preparing! A tad pricey but hey I guess you need to get used to these prices in San Francisco!
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
Best quiche Ever! The Chef came out and shared her time generously with us as we asked about the history of this great spot which has changed hands over the years. The place runs with efficiency and is probably the only restaurant with a parklet pre pandemic! Thanks for sharing your story with us. The quiche was the best ever with perfectly flakey crust! Comoliments!!

Yelp
Met a friend here on a Sunday morning around 10:30am. It's such a tiny place, but waited a bit and were able to get a table outside. I got the Daily Toast (~$8), and it was beautifully presented with lots and lots of fruit. I loved the mascarpone spread, definitely decadent. It was a pretty big size which I liked, but definitely on the sweeter side from the fruit. My friend got the Egg on a Croissant (~$8) because she was told it was one of the most popular items. She said that even though it doesn't look filling it actually is. She also said the croissant was nice and flaky and the sauce went well on it! I got a Tumeric latte (~$5), which I felt was way too foamy and watered down. My friend got the Matcha Chai latte (~5), which I tried and liked it way better than mine! Overall, super cute spot and I'd come back here again.
google avatar

Glo T.

Yelp
Chill spot. It has a few tables on the sidewalk and a tiny parklet. I went early on a Sunday morning, so traffic (foot and car) was light. Service was good - efficient and friendly. I enjoyed the music - think French cafe. I had the Crème Chicken and Mushroom sandwich, actually an open face sandwich, and a cappuccino. Both were solid and hit the spot for me.

Yelp
Yelp 100 Challenge: 63/100 Having been eating very heavily meals during my weekend in SF, I needed some cleanse in my system. My friend came across Farm : Table and decided that we wanted to give this place a try since it looked like a healthier option. Keep in mind that this place only has a communal table inside their store that can seat ~6-8 people depending on how close you'd like to get with strangers, and approx. 4-5 more 2-person table outside along the building. Other than that, good luck, and hope that you can balance eating your meal on an interesting piece of artwork by the curb! I opted for the daily toast, which had lots of different fruits on a thick piece of toast spread with some custard cream. IT WAS AMAZING! I loved how refreshing it is, and that the toast itself is very crispy and it kept me full for a good part of the day. Not to mention it was very carefully put together and looked amazing!
