I loved this setting in the hotel. There's an entrance from the street too. People were nice.

AJ M.

Google
The breakfast here is absolutely FIRE! I ordered the Elvis French Toast. It had Bacon, Peanut Butter and Banana slices. That was the best French Toast I have ever had.

Yesenia A.

Google
2nd time in bakersfield only this time our first time in downtown area and only coffee shop that popped in our radius. Coffee was excellent and their breakfast platter was great. I had a French toast but felt bread was too dense.

Jana M.

Google
Located in The Padre Hotel downtown, tasty casual breakfast stop. The area is sketchy, so take your belongings and lock your car doors. Strong espresso and satisfying food. Breakfast sandwich was super filling and highly recommended. The chorizo skillet was egg heavy and mediocre. The joint lost points because we specifically ordered the french toast with fresh berries and after a long wait for all of our food, they brought out pancakes. Bottled drinks and grab and go items available as well.

Google
The Farmacy Cafe and the Padre Hotel are one and the same. The food is AWESOME but a little pricey. It is well worth it though. This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant is absolutely perfect.

Shash K.

Google
White Mocha is my fave and pancake taste yummy forgot to take pics of food. Padre hotel is gem in Bakersfield.

Google
Coffee was good - but it’s the first time in my life I had an espresso in a mug 😂😂😂 Food is ok but our order took a long time to prepare. Not happy with the service, one of the girls was simply rude and should not be working in hospitality IMHO or needs to up her customer service skills.

Yongsoon S.

Google
I work walking distance, so I come in here occasionally as I do other places in the area. It’s definitely a nice safe, clean place that’s worth coming to.

Yelp
The food was good! The workers were so sweet! It took a while to get my drink so she upgraded it to a large. :) The cashier gave me a genuine compliment Atmosphere was fine nothing crazy, but chill. A little bit pricey just because everything was separate, but regardless it was still filling if you get it alone. Definitely recommend. Also found out that it's haunted yesterday on TikTok and I went two weeks ago, oh well. ‍

Yelp
Comfortable and inexpensive coffee shop located in the Padre Hotel. I found the coffee to be delicious. Good Value, service friendly and prompt,, and the place very comfortable with a nice Vibe. And thanks for buying about a dozen free newspapers in the morning

Yelp
Meh. For starters, pretty less than inviting person behind the counter. We told her it was our first time there and she basically just said "oh". You kinda expect there to be a "welcome and hope you enjoy". Coffee was good. Nothing special. Food was terribly bland. I had the Padre Skillet and was immensely disappointed. For one it wasn't a skillet size, rather a small bowl. Food was surprisingly bland and void of any flavor. My wife ordered bacon and a side of toast. Bacon was very good, toast was slightly warmed bread, at best. Overall experience bordered on a 1 or 2. I love The Padre for a night out before and after a concert, so I feel bad about a bad rating, but sheesh... you earned this one!

Cruzelena S.

Yelp
Excellent coffee! I'm not a big breakfast person so I just had a muffin, but the extensive breakfast menu looked delicious. One stands in line to order then you can choose to sit in or outside.
google avatar

McKenzie S.

Yelp
Five stars because it's one of the few places in town that has space to do work and has a lobby. When my manager came to town we were looking for a good co-working spot, specifically a hotel lobby coffee shop. Farmacy might be the only one in Bakersfield. If there's another, do let me know! They had plenty of coffee options, including alcoholic versions for those that need a little more than caffeine to start their day. Prices were also exceptionally reasonable. Two coffees for under $10 is a deal any day.

Yelp
Bright and open coffee and breakfast spot located in the Padre Hotel. Comfortable seating. Great place to grab a good coffee and enjoy reading a complementary local paper. Great service as well.
google avatar

James B.

Yelp
What a great dog friendly breakfast spot. Service was quick. Staff very friendly. Food was great and just what we needed. Avocado Smash probably one of the best I have had. Breakfast Sandwich was great and full of eggs and bacon and cheese. Ambiance was bright and clean.

Sara O.

Yelp
Service was great this was my second time having coffee here I had the latte with almond milk and Irish cream great on the stronger side my preference. The avocado toast was great, potatoes even better the best out of our experience. The chorizo burrito was good nothing wrong with it just something I probably would've chosen to make at home for cost efficiency. Our total was 49$ after tip. Both times I've been the ambiance has been chill, just people in their own bubble.

Yelp
Located on the first floor of The Padre, I tried Farmacy one day while staying at the hotel. The employees were very nice and welcoming. I decided to try something new and ordered a spiked Mexican coffee (tequila, cream, cinnamon). Note - if you order a spiked drink, you have to drink it inside (you can't take it to go as it has alcohol). The spiked Mexican coffee was good, no complaints. Not a bad choice for coffee/pastries if you don't want to leave the hotel!

Mireya M.

Yelp
Ordered an iced vanilla latte and it tastes like egg :( the after taste is so bad! Not sure if it's the milk or the type of coffee but I wouldn't recommend this at all
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
I am writing another review for the Farmacy Cafe. I usually would not change my rating of a business, however, I would like to make sure that everyone knows about the Farmacy Cafe. I want to change my rating from Five Stars to SIX, but I cannot. Everything I have had at the Farmacy has been GREAT. There was a problem with my breakfast the other day and it was immediately corrected. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I cannot say enough about my experiences at the Farmacy Cafe. GO, GO, GO! Everything is good. Everything is perfect. As a side note, the staff are EXCELLENT!

Yelp
Not what I expected (a breakfast diner)... but a fun surprise (a nice coffee shop with a kitchen to make some quality food options)! This is a coffee shop at the bottom of the Padre Hotel, next to the post office. They have some pastries in a case. And they have a menu of several breakfast meals (acai, oats, avocado toast, skillet, etc.) and sides (fruit, bacon, sausage, etc.). I ordered a skillet and was very happy with it. I tend to order skillets for breakfast, and this one was on the smaller side but it was adequately filling. This skillet is by far the most unique (in a good way) and flavorful skillet I've ever had! I'm gluten-free & dairy-free, and they didn't bat an eye about making sure my skillet would be safe for me. I also ordered a chai. They use Tazo concentrate, and offer alternate milk options. So this was another win for my gluten-free dairy-free self! It's a nice looking, classy (cloth napkins & quality silverware - yay!), and totally unassuming cafe. The drinks are great! The food is phenomenal! Price is nice. The service was friendly and quick. What more could I want in a coffee shop?! I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Good coffee, tasty and HUGE breakfast sandwich with potatoes on the side (I saved half and ate it later in the day!) Food portions were generous and quality good. Lost a star based on the uninspired service - no smiles, not warm and welcoming, seemed like I was bothering them. 4 stars for Farmacy.
google avatar

Bruno P.

Yelp
I can't tell what i like more, the water, or the butter. Food and ambiance lived up to the menu presentation and kept a nice blend of flavors. The country potato's were exceptionally crispy and the sausage links were different, but enjoyable with their unique texture and flavoring.

Yelp
First time visit. Located in the heart of downtown Bakersfield. Walking in through the door in H street, I was a little thrown off as to which area was the restaurant. Initially you will see a sit down dining area and as you venture further you will see a sign that will direct you to the Farmacy side. Both restaurants are connected although called different names. The Farmacy side is more grab and go however you can sit and dine. Brimstone side is sit down dining with a waiter/waitress. The gentleman at the counter (Christian) was very nice and informative. I placed our orders and had a seat. There was ample amount of seating in the small cafe. Our drinks were made and I just say although the matcha is the sweetened kind the latte was delicious. The tables are kind of cafeteria hardwood style as well as the seats. Our table was a bit unstable which made us guzzle a bit of out beverages so they wouldn't spill over. The ceiling are was a nice touch. Finally our food arrived served by a nice young lady who said we ordered her favorites. I am so glad that my husband enjoyed his food. He ordered the chicken and waffles. It looked delicious I had been wanting one of my favs chilaquiles. Unfortunately I did not have a great experience. The taste was not there. The sauce was like it was poured straight from the can. I told my husband it's missing something. Then we noticed no onions the only cilantro was the sprig in top. I then retreated back to the menu just to make sure and that's when I noticed most of the ingredients that make it more than eggs and chips were missing. I informed the young lady who brought our food and she offered the menu to try something else. I figured I'd play it safe and order the avocado smash. This was delicious. The toast was a bit blackened on the edges so I cut them off. There was a little too much taste of salt sprinkled on top but overall the creaminess of the avocado was great. The smash also comes with grapes. Although the substitute was less in price no adjustments were made. I forgot to mention you pay first at the Farmacy side which is fine but in a case like this umm idk if I like it. The manager did come by to offer his apologies and he said he did taste the sauce and it was missing some ingredients that needed to be cooked in and they were making the proper adjustments. So awesome to have someone own it (how else do we learn right) The staff, the location, the cleanliness was great! I may give them another try in the future

Yelp
A lovely place for a weekday downtown breakfast meeting! The acai bowl was light yet filling. And the iced latte with oat milk was refreshing. Parking directly in front was full, but there was ample free parking (with no time limit) just a block away. Service was friendly and prices were high average.

Yelp
I was a little disappointed eating here. The service was amazing and the ambiance was lovely. We sat right next to the big fire pit. Our coffees were really good but I was really disappointed in the breakfast burrito. It was wet like the eggs weren't cooked all the way. It definitely wasn't the best breakfast burrito I've had. My nana enjoyed her protein burrito and my 16 month old love the side of fruit. Would come back for coffee but I don't know if I would order food again.
google avatar

Tyler H.

Yelp
Two or three. Firstly, this place is dope. the ambience def has me wanting to stay at the hotel. The breakfast burrito slays. Really fantastic. Minus two solid starts because the coffee is total shit. Like reheated burned bad. And maybe a quarter of a star because the delicious burrito is a wet burrito that you can't eat on the run but thats a very circumstantial preference. So, go for breakfast, BYOCoffee and sit down to eat.

Adi C.

Yelp
Food at this place was exceptional! The girl at taking our order was very patient and kind. she brought our food and drinks out to us and made sure we were satisfied. Not to mention, the coffee and food were both a 10/10. The place was clean and had great ambience !! Will absolutely be back

Yelp
Following an excellent dinner at Brimstone, we decided to check out Farmacy the next day for brunch. I thought we'd be dining inside Brimstone, but brunch is at Farmacy, which is styled more like a quick service cafe. You order at the front, and everything else (napkins, utensils, jelly, condiments, etc.) is all self serve. My partner ordered a spiked coffee, and I got the dirty chai. The boozy coffee was only $8 for a really generous amount. And I enjoyed my drink as well. We decided to share the Breakfast plate, with an additional order of chorizo sausage. The eggs, toast, and potatoes were nicely cooked. We asked for extra crispy potatoes, and they were exactly how I like them. The only disappointing part was the chorizo sausage, it was incredibly salty, to the point of being inedible for us. I prefer my bacon thin and crispy, and the bacon at Farmhouse is thicker cut, almost a little chewy. But my partner seemed to enjoy it. Overall, I think I prefer dining at the Padre for lunch/dinner. But I'd could probably be lured back if they update their brunch menu.

Dale M.

Yelp
First and foremost it's the only place that I know of where you can get a vanilla latte 20 ounce for $5. The cashier was very nice. I also had the peaches and cream and I highly recommend it. It's just a nice and relaxing place to just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and people watch.

Yelp
I came in to get some tea and opted for the iced tropical green tea . I placed my order and sat on the cutest chair ever to wait for my order to be called . I waited about five minutes and picked up my tea. The tea itself tasted good , I could taste hints of tropical fruit I just can't place exactly which. My only minor gripe is that I guess it took to long for me to drink my drink and the paper straw got soggy on me and started collapsing on itself . Other than that I really enjoy the Farmacy, and look forward to visiting again .

Yelp
My family and I were looking for a spot to have some dine in breakfast during our mini vacation in Bakersfield. (Didn't expect it to be in another hotel but, this place hit-the-spot!) We got greeted and seated within a few minutes. Our waitress was quick to bring our beverages out and within a few minutes we had already decided what we wanted to order. Our food came out in a timely manner. Menu options were limited but we all found something we wanted to eat. Overall great experience. $$$$ was reasonable
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
This place is not like usual hotel breakfast restaurants. It is amazing with scones from the local Cornerstone Bakery and in house made bread for the toast. Both were delicious. The breakfast sandwich has a generous amount of eggs and the avocado toast is great too! Fresh fruit with both meals. Both are made on the house made bread by their baker. All types of hot and iced morning drinks are available. I highly recommend this place!!
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
Nested within the beautiful Padre Hotel, Farmacy is in the far back toward the left. They serve Bulletproof coffee and it's a great breakfast spot considering it's within a hotel. The big "W" for me is because it opens at 6am!
google avatar

Lea M.

Yelp
I have been craving the chilichiles for weeks! i had it once before with friends and it was so good had to go back. i did takeout and the food was ready quickly and not soggy. the hot latte was good as well. delicious!

Yelp
One of the few places in Bakersfield where you can get a "hip" brunch, it serves some cool dishes as part of a nice, contemporary downtown hotel. FYI, their menu changes throughout the day, so it can often overlap and can include some things and exclude others at hours that are kind of confusing for me (breakfast menu, brunch menu, lunch menu... etc). I ended up coming in and then returning an hour later just so I can try their chicken and waffles, which was served later in the day. The chicken and waffles were enjoyable, but I don't think good enough to justify the $14. The batter on the chicken had a nice herbal fragrance (rosemary I think), but the actual meat was dried out. Waffles were good, nothing special --- I did enjoy their maple syrup and whipped butter, for what its worth. I've also had their "Johnny Cake Skillet" (see image), which was something new to me. The two (small) slices of pork were amazing --- super crispy skin and very fatty, savory pork belly. This was served atop what amounted to be sort of like cornbread baked in a shallow pan to resemble a thick pancake(?). There was a nice crust and I thought it was well done. Cool to try and filling enough with the 2 eggs and potatoes. In terms of vibe, you can eat at the cafe or even at the bar across the hallway; a number is given to you at the counter when you order and they bring the food out. The seating by the window was kind of awkward for me and I ended up moving... the stools were way too tall for the tables here and you end up stooping over if you are trying to eat something. Prices are also a bit high. Overall, food was what I expected for a hip, downtown hotel. IMO, I think there's more value in going to Cafe Smitten a few blocks away for brunch instead.

Chloe A.

Yelp
We stopped by here and have only good things to say! We ordered Rojo Chilaquiles w/o chorizo and a white mocha. We were both pleasantly surprised by how delicious the white mocha was. Very smooth, creamy and not too strong and not too weak tasting. The food was also delicious and we finished the whole plate. Lots of flavor and a great amount of food.
google avatar

Cayleigh W.

Yelp
I spent a good amount of money on breakfast for two and one of the meals was lovely but the $14 Acai Bowl was not really etible. I had a couple bites a d threw away. It was advertised as coming with toppings like coconut and it was just scoops of solid acai, strawberry, and hard granola (like for cereal). Waste of money!
google avatar

Giovanni G.

Yelp
Whoever is reviewing this place highly must not have taste buds. The misses and I wanted to try something new and after spending $46 on breakfast we literally took like couple bites and left 97% of our food sitting on the plate. The eggs sucked, bacon might as well have been jerky, the "chorizo" tasted like dof food. Almost puked after trying it. The potatos were good and the coffee was good also but for $46 this place was absolutely not worth it at all. Will never return again.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to check this place out today and it was really nice! The decor inside was fancy schmancy and really cute!! Love the wall art as they support other local businesses. There were wall art of the Fox Theater, Wool Growers, The Padre Hotel, and many other businesses posted on their walls. I didn't know what to order because this was my first time checking the place out and I asked the lady at the counter for any recommendation. I wanted to check out the iced white chocolate mocha, but if she recommended anything else or if she thought something else was good. She said she usually puts a splash of hazelnut in hers and so I told her "let's do it!". The coffee was really good! It wasn't too strong nor was it too weak. It had the right amount of caffeine and the taste was great!! I also got a side of the snicker doodle muffin which was delicious! I don't like when muffins are overly sweetened and this muffin was just right! I noticed they have a menu for brunch and other Yelpers posted great looking food, so I definitely want to come back to check that out! Workers were very friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. They have cute sofas to lounge on and enjoy your coffee w whoever you come w. They had music playing from next door as I believe it's attached to the padre hotel, but it was not at all overwhelming since it wasn't loud at all. You definitely should check this coffee shop out!

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Front girls attitude is the worst! They don't have crap posted on here. Sooo be ready to order 1 out of 6 items which are flavorless, cheap, and skimpy. My cappuccino was half way filled. The food taste less. Don't waste your time here. Kidd made sure to tell me "Should've gone to Spencer's" sooo safe to say this place is mediocre.
google avatar

Dave L.

Yelp
Waited 25 minutes for a tasteless pile. No seasoning that I can perceive. Very expensive. I don't post reviews but I am so unhappy I must. Eat here if you have no choice I guess.
google avatar

Larry G.

Yelp
First time guest at the Padre Hotel. Nice rooms and clearly presents as a nicer hotel. Farmacy signs say it opens at 6 a.m. Perhaps, however not on January 30th, 2020. At 6:10, after seeing no one at Farmacy, I queried the front desk who told me they'd be open at 7:00 today, with some vague reason about them running late. Mind you, this is a hotel that caters to professionals and others paying $245 a night. Apparently Farmacy is run more like a lemonade stand that opens at various hours. Save your money and enjoy Cafe Smitten about a half-mile away.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
We ordered the breakfast tacos with ham and breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage. Everything is extremely fresh very good. The waitress and staff were extremely friendly and helpful . We came in on a Saturday morning about 830. Very open and fun atmosphere.
google avatar

William V.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Walked in the the cashier didn't even greet me to start. She said "it's going to be a minutes, I got several orders." After waiting 6 minutes, she says what ca.n I get you and I asked her about the coffee. She said "it's just your bland standard coffee." Very unprofessional. I just walked out and it will have to take this place being the last coffee spot this side of the equator for me to come back.
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Very below-average food for a high price. I ordered a breakfast plate that consisted of scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon & toast. The potatoes were actually good; crisp on the outside! The eggs were cold & the bacon was small. The wheat toast was the best part. What really got me is the coffee I ordered. I always order black coffee anywhere & everywhere I go. It's my favorite & always the least expensive. I ordered a large black coffee & it was $4! The best thing I can say about my experience here is that it wasn't busy & the food came out quickly for it being 9:00 on a Saturday morning. Not impressed with the food itself.
google avatar

Gabriela H.

Yelp
I was staying at the Padre Hotel and decided to have breakfast downstairs at Farmacy before heading to Porterville. I was unsure it you were waited on or if you ordered first then the food followed, so I ordered first at the counter. I ordered the chillaquilles and an iced chai latte. The chillaquilles were really good, so much cheese melted and the sauce added the perfect touch. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. There is a lot of seating in the bar/restaurant area where there is also a billiard table or you can sit in the lobby of the Farmacy cafe area there is a cute couch and a few tables on the side.

Jason S.

Yelp
Great location and look, but inside was freezing cold. Overall, the food was a let down. I ordered the French toast and it was served room temperature and was so dry it was difficult to eat without drowning it in syrup. Coffee was good - if I return it will only be for drinks.
google avatar

Maria F.

Yelp
I love coming here for breakfast. My go to is their French toast, but there are several other options. I also order an iced Americano, but beware it's very caffeinated. Overall, I've never had a bad experience.
google avatar

Ol V.

Yelp
Latte is mediocre at best and the guy and girl upfront aren't very polite! If someone says thank you.. "you're welcome!" Is a proper response!
google avatar

Michael D.

Yelp
Overpriced dirty bath water coffee, horrible. Charge for everything, possibly even breathing in there

Elena R.

Yelp
Walked here for a easy Sunday meal with the kids. Sat outside in the pocket park. There was no one ahead of me in line, but it still took about five minutes to get my order in because the lady behind the counter was making drinks. It took a solid 45 minutes to get my food order of two burritos to-go... Food was OK, too soggy to eat on the go. The staff was nice- it seems understaffed though
google avatar

Royce L.

Yelp
Cozy cafe type place in the lobby of the Padre hotel. Coffee, tea, lattes, etc. They also have food. Breakfast, choices were eggs, pancakes, toast, etc and lunch was sandwiches and wraps. The seating was limited but decor was nice. I arrived early and my room was quite ready and eating here make the wait a little more bearable. You don't have to be staying at the hotel to eat here either. Great place to stop in for breakfast.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Great spot to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. Full menu isn't served until later in the morning so we missed out on a couple menu items I was wanting to try. I enjoyed the standard breakfast plate featuring the thickest bacon I've ever seen. Avocado Toast was good (not spectacular) but the acia bowls did not disappoint and the coffee cake was perfection! My Americano was a bit watered down; not as strong as I normally like, so consider asking for an extra shot if you like your espresso to stand on its own. Service was slow but the kid behind the counter was very kind and I left him a big tip for how hard he was working all on his own. Definitely worth the walk from the convention center for a hip foodie-friendly breakfast.
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
It's ok....coffee is decent. Food doesn't have much flavor, no seasoning on the potatoes or the croissant sandwich I had. Girlfriend complained about the same thing w her protein burrito.
google avatar

Irene G.

Yelp
I've heard good things about this place so I tried it out for breakfast. I had the rise n' shine and an iced chai! My breakfast was okay, but not the best. I didn't eat my scrambled eggs, they had a funny texture to them and almost tasted like "fake" eggs + my white toast was very hard! The service was good, everything was clean and staff was friendly. Don't think I would return for breakfast.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast last Saturday morning. Good food and great choices for a coffee type shop. Coffee was top notch, ordered a great latte. Service was good, nice staff. I must say, I love the decor with the cow, moose & dog on the ceiling. Fun, hip, trendy feel. I'll definitely be back for breakfast and we weren't staying there!
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
I'm a coffee lover, I can tell what a good coffee tastes like at the first sip and I gotta give it to them they're coffee is by far one of the best coffees I've had in a while, if not ever. Brother got into a motorcycle accident around Bakersfield landing him in the hospital so my bro and I spent the night in the city, I couldn't sleep in so I decided to grab some coffee, I was originally going to just get Starbucks but I wanted to try something new since I wanted to relax and drink my coffee and not really feel the fast pace of a Starbucks in the background and this place did just that. Aside from the coffee tasting great and the place having a nice chill vibe, the worker was quite friendly. I got the espresso macchiato w hazelnut and almond milk (it's good if you like sweet coffee) also, it opens at 6am! And they got coffee drinks w booze in it which I gotta say is pretty cool.
