Ahhh I was hoping to give Farmacy a better review! If I could I'd rate Farmacy 3.5 stars for having a 100% plant-based menu, plus a lovely interior, although the food didn't quite come through execution-wise on my second visit.
For our first visit, my sister and I made a reservation for a Friday evening around 7:30--the tables were mostly full. It was a hot day so I ordered a refreshing cocktail, the Forager's Martini (11 pounds). Okay yum. Honestly my favorite part about this place. This drink included gin, blackberry, cranberry, and lemon juice. I could have gone for a second, and a third... but self-control! My sister's Berry Punch mocktail was also super good (6). Her beverage contained raspberries, lemon juice, mint, ginger, strawberries, pineapple & grapefruit juice. Now just add some alcohol to that! ha.
A sweaty day called for something lighter and cool, so the Pad Thai Salad was a great choice (16.5). This dish included rice noodles, roasted tofu, rainbow garden vegetables, roasted peanuts, mint, coriander. No it wasn't authentic per se, but I enjoyed it enough. The portion size was about right too. I also got a couple bites of my sister's Garden Pizza (15). The pizza was composed of a fermented GF base, tomato sauce, celeriac puree, roasted aubergine, olives, and fresh rocket. It was okay, I've had better vegan pizzas and would recommend ordering the Pad Thai Salad instead.
We enjoyed our first experience enough, so we made another reservation a couple weeks later. The space was a lot quieter during our second visit (also a Friday), but it was an hour or two earlier, so maybe that was the reason. People do tend to dine later in Europe!
We enjoyed the same beverages again, I highly recommend both! We wanted some veg action so we split the Charred Broccoli with almond butter (6). The broccoli was served as a big hunk with a pool of sauce/almond butter on the side. This dish had potential. But didn't quite hit the mark. The broccoli would have been better charred and served in bite-sized pieces/florets with twice as much almond butter, spooned on top. Just sayin. For mains I went with the Got No Beef Burger with fries (17.5)--portobello mushroom, beetroot and walnut burger, pickled onions, tomato, lettuce, Farmacy secret sauce, goji ketchup. Again there was potential. The bun was too charred so the entire burger tasted burnt when I bit into it. The burger minus the bun tasted good though. The fries are a nice thickness although not all that crispy, and I prefer regular ketchup. I know they would have gladly given me a new bun, but I was feeling too shy/lazy/hungry to say anything. My sister's Falafel Waffle was pretty but she said it was just okay (17). I had a bite of the falafel waffle part and agreed it could have used a little more seasoning/lemon. She enjoyed the aubergine (eggplant) sambal component the best.
Service is decent, no complaints there. Would I recommend trying out Farmacy? Yes! At least to get some delicious drinks. The mac and cheese did sound good too..
