"African produce enriches the cuisine, which is international in character. Wood carvings and trophies from the country where the dishes originated are interesting to look at." - Michelin Inspector

This boutique hotel is a very pleasant surprise in the German “country side”. The hotel has an African atmosphere that is brought to it’s guests with well selected warm colors, beautiful African decoration and Africa-inspired art.||On the outside, the hotel looks like a traditional German building. The entrance from the street is a door in the big wooden gate, behind which there is a nice closed Garden with a cosy terrace.|(If you want your car can be parked within the gates but there are usually free parking spaces on the street as well )|||The reception is small but immediately gives you the Africa vibe. ||The hotel has a limited number of named rooms that are all decorated differently, the website gives an impression of all of them.|I stayed in the Baobab room.||The room is not very big but very nice with beautiful decoration. It has a comfortable bed, a small desk to work, a Nespresso machine and filled minibar ( including Namibian beer 🍺).|There was also a JBL Go bluetooth speaker for playing your music 🎶 ||The bathroom was split from the bedroom by transparent glass but if want you can close the blinds. In the bathroom is a large shower and a natural stone sink. Together with the amenities and decoration it gives a luxury feeling.||Breakfast was served ( no buffet ) in the cosy restaurant / bar. Every guest gets a tray with fine meat/cheese and marmalade to use with the fresh sandwiches. An egg can be fried if wanted. And of course all of this with a nice cappuccino and orange juice.||The service was very good and friendly!||It was one of my best hotel experiences ever at a rate that was far from the highest that I’ve ever paid. Value for money is very in this hotel.||No need to think twice if you’re in the neighborhood; Go for it ! You will not regret it!

Wanted a comfortable, relaxing get away after a long overseas flight to visit family. The MAL D’AFRIQUE suite was a perfect fit for us. It has a beautiful balcony overlooking the quiet flowered courtyard. The suite's decor is calming, comfortable and full of interesting African art and sculpture. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay which included a comfortable bed and large private bath. ||||The traditional German breakfast was delicious and generous. Our host, the founders Grandson, was very friendly and he took the time to explain how this unexpected African themed hotel came to be located in a traditional German town.

The Farmerhouse lode is an African Style bed&breakfast / hotel. It seemed a bit rare to find such a place in the middle of Germany in a more or less small town. We however were positivly surprised about the wonderful designed interior which brings Africa into this place. Don't be afraid that you'll end up in a place were a collector has assembled African art and memorabilia. The design is consequently and thoroughly implemented in the whole house. From the walls, to the flooring, from the interior to decorative pillows and blankets on the bed, even the china does fit into the theme. The hotel has a lovely garden and you do have the opportunity to enjoy some time outside the building if you don't have a room with a balcony or terrace. We had breakfast there which was outstandingly good. We chose only the "small" breakfast which consisted of coffee, juices, water, breadrolls croissants, jam, butter, cheese and sausage...everything you need to have a good start into the day. Probably the best thing about that shiny new place which was just opend in November 2013 is the staff. We were personally greeted and the rooms was shown to us where we did find complimentary water and coffee. Great! Everybody was very attentive and we found the hosts genuine and truely hospitable. I'd definetly recommend to go there whenever you get the chance...it couldn't have been better! Thank you so much!

Had the feeling I am in Africa. So real and authentic. Very nice rooms. Very clean. Very friendly staff. Wanna escape the city, then that's a place to go. And since you are there, eat in their restaurant. Yes it's further away, but the drive you there and pick you up. Full service!

Excellent service, amazing breakfast and authentic decor. The Schodlok family have created a spectacular African sanctuary in the most unlikely place.

A pleasant experience. They thought about things twice here. The owner is willing to help you with all questions and prepares a hell of a breakfast. The rooms are all different
