Top Philly Farmers’ Markets and Outdoor Food Shopping

"After years of experience in urban farming and vending at pop-ups all over Philly, Christa Barfield, founder of FarmerJawn, took over a 128-acre farm in Westtown just a stone’s throw away from the city, with plans for a second location underway. With a mission rooted in sustainability and environmental health, her Westtown location and store are now ready for shopping or check out its website to join its CSA." - George Banks-Weston

The Sunday drive stop at FarmerJawn was perfect, and it was a bonus to meet owner Christa Barfield and her team, who are so dedicated to their craft. The fresh and delicious bounty from the market just tasted better and better with every bite!

FarmerJawn grows the most amazing produce— delicious, organic, nutrient dense, feeding the soil, mission-driven, & feeding the community! Doing incredible work. Keep it up! Grateful to have you here.

I purchased a few items and everything was good! The selection was slim, but I also visited in the last week of September… so… 🤷🏽‍♀️ I plan to go again soon for the flowers! I got coffee beans, a watermelon,Pickles, ginger root, blueberry, pancake mix and these tomatoes that look like little watermelons ☺️

I am a small farmer that sold my products through farmer jawn. They have owed me money for over a year that I have been desperately trying to collect. No response to emails or calls. I am not the only one who is owed money from them and have been told by several other small farmers they are in the same situation. The majority if not all of what they sell at their store comes from other small farmers that they are ripping off. It's a shame to see someone win so many awards and talk about empowering small local farmers and then treat them this way. Don't trust them if you are thinking of selling your products there, they over price it through the roof and then don't even pay you!

I have purchased a few things here...great fresh veggies and baked products...especially the pumpkin 🍞 is amazing!!!!! The owner is kind, courteous and professional. Please see and support this young lady as she changes how we eat and care for our body in terms of what we put in it.

I stopped by there today thinking that it was still under the old owners. My heart jumped and I was so excited that I gave her an applause that she owns this business now. And she's a farmer, a BLACK FARMER! Please support this business especially if you're African American. I personally will be going by 2 see if there's anything I could do to help her. She has my number and she has to do it, call me. I will definitely support my black former. Call mom
