Top Brewpubs and Breweries in South Jersey | Eater Philly

"When you visit Farmers and Bankers Brewing in Woodstown you’ll be treated to limited tap releases, such as the porter on bourbon/rye and porter on port offerings, and a robust selection of daily beer options, including a juicy double IPA, farmhouse saison, and American hazy style pilsner. This South Jersey brewery is also an excellent spot for special events, such as comedy nights and arts and crafts events." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Spacious and welcoming, Farmers & Bankers in downtown Woodstown nails the balance between historic charm and modern comfort. The taproom is bright and open, with tons of natural light streaming in through the front windows and its spacious enough for larger groups. Outside, there’s a fenced-in turf beer garden with picnic tables, giving folks a nice, casual spot to enjoy a pint. Beer-wise, they’ve got a solid lineup across multiple styles, so there’s something for everyone. We especially loved the creative chalkboard art above the taps, and the old bank vault turned gift shop is a fun touch. Our favorite pour was the Golden Gramms White Stout—a smooth, roasty blend of coffee and cacao nibs that packed rich flavor into a deceptively light-looking beer. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Fun place with great beer! They take cash or credit. Sorry no checks, but you can drink the Czech, Pilsner. The merch is so valuable they keep it in the vault. Have fun.

Ever my beer we had was excellent. The beer-tenders were very knowledgeable and friendly. Great small town brewery with lots of flavor. Will definitely stop in again.

Fantastic little brewery in south Jersey, with a wide variety of styles. Megan was an absolute joy to both speak and deal with behind the counter.

Had another great time at F&B! This time we stopped in as part of the Brew to Brew train ride on the Woodstown Central Railroad. The warm weather had the beer garden full, plus some great pizza from A Touch of Basil to complement some tasty brews. I went with Steam Locomotive #9, a porter, since we did ride a train! Beertenders are very friendly and knowledgeable, they can definitely recommend something to like! Brand new brewery! Right in downtown Woodstown in the old bank building. There's plenty parking in the back. I like these type the best you can look out the windows, enjoy your beer and watch the world go by! Great indoor space, impressive bar, small beer garden out back for those nice days. The vault is filled with merchandise! Staff was incredibly friendly and most importantly the beer was cold and good! Not an IPA fan so I tried Angry Pig (pale ale), Wolverine (wheat), Gateway (American Pilsner) & Short Change (Czech Pilsner) I'll be ordering all of them again but my favorite was Wolverine.

Farmers & bankers brewing should be on your list of must visit breweries in NJ. The beer selection is excellent, with a variety of styles and flavors. For a young brewery to have the number of selections they have, and new varietals coming out on an almost weekly basis is almost unheard of. The cow tippin stout is one of the best stouts I've ever sampled. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledge about the product they serve. If you aren't sure what you like, they're happy to guide you and find something you will rave about! Beautifully finished inside, and a nice outdoor beer garden make for the perfect atmosphere.

This review is one I have wanted to be able to leave since I first laid eyes on the old First National Bank building in Woodstown over 15 years ago. I always dreamed that a restaurant or brewery would take over and give new life to this corner of our town and Farmers & Bankers Brewing has done just that. The atmosphere in the completely renovated tap room is so warm and inviting, while incorporating the details of what this place used to be. The brews are fantastic! We sampled four of their initial offerings and we can't wait to go back to try the others. I will be a customer for life!

What a great addition to Woodstown, NJ. Great beers in a great atmosphere. The people that work there are welcoming as are the patrons. We had a great time and I think tried every beer thanks to the flights.

Yelp
This is an excellent brewery in Woodstown, NJ with so many incredible beers on offer. My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon. While here we counted through all of the NJ breweries we've been to and saw this was #48 for us. The place is really big considering it is on the main street of such a small town. It's in an old bank so it has super high ceilings and an old bank vault that now functions as their merch shop. I got the nicest flannel shirt I've ever owned from their shop and can't wait to wear it this fall. It was pretty empty when we arrived (but was packed when we left just as Thursday night trivia was starting). We sat at the bar and the woman working there asked us if it was our first time there. When we said yes she welcomed us with such warmth and sincerity! The sheer variety and quantity in beers was impressive. 16 beers + 3 seltzers + NA sodas. Each beer has a detailed description on the menu of flavor profiles, hops used, IBU's, etc. I appreciate the attention to detail. There are so many different styles on offer, including plenty of IPA's, a saison, a Pilsner, vanilla porter and milk stout (both on nitro!) and the pièce de résistance: a scotch ale, which from our experience is a very rare find in South Jersey breweries. Variety and quantity mean nothing if the beers aren't good, but I can honestly say every beer we had was seriously delicious. I had a flight and two individual pours, including the amber lager, the joint account DIPA, and the Belgian strong ale. We absolutely loved everything we had. We live about 45 minutes away but will definitely make the effort to come back soon!

Yelp
Neat-Clean-Simple That's the perfect description for Farmers and Bankers. Rolled in early on a Saturday afternoon and while there were a steady stream of people going in and out, in never got too crowded. We found our couch in the corner and hid over there amongst the plants. A few necessaries to keep in mind: No issues with parking here. F&B has some of their own spaces and if worse comes to worse, there is a public parking lot across the street by the diner that has enough spaces to probably cover whatever is happening in Woodstown. No food here per law but there are several restaurant options close by and most if not every Saturday there is some type of food truck parked out front. No table service, but it's no biggie. Up to the bar and place your order, pay right there or give them a card to open a tab and if have it settled when your done. Philly Hop Bomb - CranApple (aka Crapple) Seltzer Both were good for what they are. Nice subtle smooth cranberry flavor and a very upfront citrusy hop explosion. Also kudos to the awesome tune selection. The volume is quite loud but when we walked in they were blaring The Boy In Bubble from Paul Simon's Graceland and 38 years on, that's not a song you here anywhere. Nice. Overall, we had a very good time and while we are really never in the Woodstown area (it's business - nothing personal), if the whit and whimsy of life brings us back, F&B is definitely on the itinerary for round II. farmersandbankersbrewing.com/on-tap

Yelp
Good beer, good vibes, and good times is what you want from a brewery. Farmers and Bankers offers all of those things. When you walk in, you can grab a table or sit at the bar. There is no table service and you have to go up to the bar to order a drink. You can order a single beer or you can do a tasting. If you are not a beer fan then they offer two incredible seltzers to choose from. They do not offer food but there are so many great food places around there to choose from, and sometimes they even have a food truck. Another great thing about Farmers and Bankers is they sell their beer and seltzer to go! So if you find one that you love, you can take it home with you. If you are in the area and are looking for a great brewery, then this is the place for you!

Yelp
The pizza here is in out of this world! I got the white pizza with honey drizzle, definitely a good choice if you like honey! I loved the American amber. No many breweries around here have a good amber ale option so i was pleasantly surprised. The bartender was very attentive and nice. We requested March madness be put on and he very quickly made that happen for us. It is so spacious in here and definitely a very cool hang out spot! If i have any recommendations it would be to add TVs.

Yelp
I visited Farmers & Bankers shortly after they opened and once more recently over the holiday season. Both were generally good experiences. They have a wide variety of styles available, from hoppy beers to seltzers, and flights are available if you want to taste some different ones. They also have a non-alcoholic root beer that is very tasty. Prices are reasonable and service is friendly. On my most recent visit, there was a food truck parked out front, so that was cool, especially since there are limited restaurant options in Woodstown. It does get loud in there when full. On my most recent visit, there were more kids than adults, some of whom were running around uncontrolled, though that seems to be brewery culture everywhere these days. I'd return if in the Woodstown area and in search of a good beer.

Yelp
I was super impressed with this brewery! While the beer menu is relatively small they hit the marks for eveeyones taste across the board! No one in my group had a complaint about a drink. The inside is huge and maintained well. The rail road addition is a cool idea for the brewery and I hope it catches on. They had a few bartenders working that all were knowledgeable in the beers which is always helpful!

Yelp
I have traveled all over this continent, and visited every brewery I have found . I don't know if it is brewing skill , the water or luck . But I found the best ipa I have ever had at this little brewery! rarely do I return to a brewery ( with so many to visit why limit yourself?) but this place ,with this ipa. I have to go back to see if every batch turns out this perfect worth the trip.

Yelp
We had a great afternoon here. I'm not a big beer drinker but loved the sour on tap and their seltzers! What a cute downtown and awesome historic building! Great gear and game selection too.

Yelp
So awesome to have a cool place like this in Woodstown! Convenient to Mullica Hill, Glassboro, & Swedesboro as well. Love the Nitro brew!!!!! They also have flights, so you can try a bunch of locally-made beers, with clever locally-themed names. PS - If you try the Cow Tipper Nitro (frothy with chocolate notes), drink it *as soon as it's poured* for the best experience (and if you order it in a flight, *don't* save it for last... even though it's the best! Wink)

Yelp
Went with my wife to try this brewery so we both were able to sample about eight of the beers. My wife had the 4540 Gateway Pilsner, Short Change Pilsner, On the Road Again West Coast IPA, Marked Money NE IPA. I had the Angry Pig Pale Ale, Wolverine Wheat, Broke Bloke English Pub Ale, Cow Tippin Stout. Our favorite by far was the 4540 Gateway Pilsner. The rest of the beers for me had the essence of what they are (IPA, English Pub Ale, etc.) but were very watery for the lack of a better term. The servers were super friendly and the place itself is nice, but could use more decorations on the walls. The lighting was cool and the bank vault store was awesome.

Yelp
Nice place to stop and enjoy a beer. The only problem is NJ law doesn't allow them to serve any food. There are a few places around to order takeout and bring it in. Staff was nice and informative on brewing process.

Yelp
Beer is OK . Nothing special . I'm a stout and porter guy and they mostly cater to ipa beer .

Yelp
Came in here on a whim while visiting family in the area and I will totally be coming back next time! Amazing service, great ambiance and of course, the most important part, excellent beer. The space is large and industrial - there were probably 30 other people in there when I went in but still plenty of space and tables to sit at. They are kid friendly and were very welcoming about it. There are three very clean bathrooms and a water station in the back, along with a small souvenir shop inside of what looked like an old safe?! The lighting was also really nice. Even though they don't serve food, there were lots of people who got takeout from some local spots and brought it in. At one point a door dash guy even came in, called out a name and delivered it directly to the couple's table. As for the beer, I got a flight - my favorites were their wheat beer and pale ale, but the pilsner and IPA I tried were also really good. They have a great variety including some stouts so there is really something for everyone.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere with plenty of tables, hightop tables, bar seating, and couches. A great selection of beers, including delicious root beer, on tap. Free street parking along with a free parking lot behind the brewery. Definitely check this place out!

Yelp
Such a delight to see this iconic building brought back to life in the center of Woodstown! Plenty of parking, have never had a problem parking my huge car. I am not a huge beer drinker, but I still did the flight and found some new favs. I really liked the frozen lemonade drink as well as the raspberry seltzer. My husband and I had a quick date night there, ordering food from the Woodstown Hotel for delivery, so that was AWESOME! Looking forward to our next trip back. The swag is a fun addition in the vault too.

Yelp
Meh, not great, beer was watery and lacked depth. The place was nice but the town is meh, nothing else to do or see.
