Cobbler Mania - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Inspired by the recipes made by her aunt, Shae Seward founded Cobbler Mania in 2004. Selling directly at farmer’s markets, she began offering a variety of baked goods “so good you’ll (want to) slap somebody,” including ones sweetened with agave and filled with white peaches, blueberries, strawberry-rhubarb, and pear-apple — all while never using artificial preservatives or flavors. You can find Cobbler Mania at the Torrance, Culver City, La Cienega, and Hollywood Farmer’s Markets. Follow their Instagram." - Kat Hong

Live on the east coast. In town visiting my 91 year old dad. Purchased two beautiful belts. Friendly and helpful. Reading previous reviews, must have been the previous owner when they said he was rude!! I’m going back to Boston to gather my repairs and bring them with me on my next visit. So incredibly hard to find a good shoe repair back home.

Google
I have pretty low expectations of shoe/purse repair as I’ve tried 3/4 places throughout west LA to only have items returned in a “meh I guess it’s better than before?” condition. Not here! I wish I had before photos of my purse! The handles of my vintage Gucci were ripping off from the body of the bag and the zipper was coming undone. My purse looks as good as new, if not better! Worth the very reasonable price I paid to have my purse in amazing condition again. Will easily last me another 10 years of daily/weekly use. If you have to wait a little while, it’s only because he’s so busy cuz he’s a pro! Be patient the results are extraordinary.

Google
Great job fixing my Gucci Loafers. A hard to repair tear in the fronts was done much better than I could have expected ! Very happy ! Their prices are incredibly fair as well.

Khalid is awesome! He repaired my sandals and they look like new now 😍. Before that they were cracking in the insole and looked almost like ready to be trashed but I loved them so much I thought I would see if they could be fixed! He added a new leather insole and rubber sole! Excellent work and a great price as well. Thank you so much! I’ll definitely be back and refer you some customers!

Google
Amazing service. I have been in with shoes for which I have had very particular issues and they have solved my problems. Everyone who has helped me has been so pleasant, intent on good customer services, knows their craft and has a good sense of humor too.

Google
This shoe repair shop is awesome! In addition to fixing shoes (they fixed one of mine that was giving me a blister), they also sell handmade sandals, boots, and purses. The stuff is so unique. It's a really warm and welcoming space. I highly recommend this place -- Khalid, the owner, is incredibly knowledgable and helpful!

Google
Highly suggested. They did a great job repairing my four-year-old leather cowboy boots and bring them back to a new life. Spent $75 and was well worth it. Any shoe repair I will always come here in the future

Google
It was pretty good service before but it's even better now. Very detailed and professional work with reasonable prices. Definitely recommend it.

Yelp
I brought in a pair of buffalo leather workboots that I have had for around 30 years, yes, 30 years! After tons of use, they needed the Vibram heels replaced. Farmer's Market Shoe Repair did exactly what I wanted! They ordered the specific Vibram heel for these boots and did a great job! My beautiful logger boots are refreshed and ready for decades more of enjoyment:) Thanks!

Yelp
I brought my two pair of loafers and a pair of cowboy boot to new sole metal taps three and half weeks ago - was told it would be three week for the SOLES on the loafers had to HAND SEWED... Upon arrival ... I had one metal tap on my cowboy boots and it was a used one .... Not even new.... It pissed me off... secondly the somehow BUFFED the boots taking away the leather texture away.... It pissed me off that they ruined my leather boots look.. The loafers were to have a new sole "Hand sewed" process done.... They hadn't even started the process. Again upsetting me tremendously... DO NOT GO HERE FOR SHOE SERVICE.... I'm completely upset at there lack of attention to details Roberto Gonzalez No stars...!!!

Yelp
Glad I found this place at the farmers market. I brought in a run down pair of Clark's leather slip ons. The heel and soles on both shoes were in bad shape and the leather was beyond tired. Here's what they look like now. Wow. Great job folks!

Yelp
Writing review for my Wife... She had a Marni bag that was older and discolored and brought it here. The guy was a gentleman, suggested that he dye the bag rather than other not proper fixes. My Wife got the bag back and loved the work and the price too. She was so pleased that she requested I write the review.. So... Five Stars! Thank you Sir! We will be back!

Yelp
I have been going to this shoe repair shop for the past decade and I truly am grateful for the quality work they have given me. I have brought several boots in to get resoled. I have also brought my over the knee moto boots to have the metal zipper fixed. I also bring in vintage designer bags to get fixed. If you are pieces that you love and have sentimental value and are not easily replaced with a shopping spree, bring your pieces here. Prices are reasonable but the quality of work is just superb. Not sure what the turnaround time is but I bring my boots or purses in and let them know that I am in no rush. I tend to get them back less than a week. In recent years, they have been selling handmade leather goods such as huaraches and totes, as well as shoe accessories and care kits. Farmer's Market Shoe Repair is one of the longest running business in the Farmers Market and I would love to see this business stay as long as they can. It's a gem LA needs that supports to support a sustainable lifestyle.

Yelp
They're always so nice. A little expensive due to location but great stuff. They have lots of handmade shoes.

Yelp
This Gentleman has a very nice selection of high quality polishes, brushes and just about anything you need to take care of your shoes. I wear dress shoes for work in varying shades of brown, and they have every shade of polish here. I was also able to purchase a natural bristle brush made in Germany for less than $9. This is my go-to shoe care supply store.

Yelp
I've been going to Khalid's shop for about a year now when I've needed several of my shoes and leather goods repaired. This last repair/makeover was the most impressive. I have a vintage pair of platform sandals that are hard to replace given the design of the heel portion of the shoe. The straps, sole and inside of the shoe were all in desperate need of a make over. . The results speak for them selves. I couldn't be more happierwith his work. Khalid is not only talented and creative in his work, he is kind and professional. A winning combination. I highly recommend him for your leather good fixes, repairs and in my case makeover. Thank you Khalid!

Yelp
They fixed my (beautiful) boot and for that I am very grateful. Yet they charged me twice what I was quoted when I brought it in. Also it took a very long time. The end result was not bad, but still noticeably repaired. Not a bad place, but did not WOW me

Paula S.

Yelp
I had Foot surgery in December and was told I can't wear normal sandals for at least a year. I purchased a pair of sandals from Khalid's shop and they are perfect. The more I wear them the softer the leather gets. Thank You Khalid. I will be purchasing more sandals especially the red, white and blue for 4th of July which are coming in soon. Please excuse the lack of a pedicure, since I haven't had one since March.

Yelp
I am soooo happy with my newly repaired boots!! He messaged back on my inquiry here within minutes and when I brought them in and showed his what I needed he matched the quote that was made and also suggested heel repair (not as an up sell but as a necessity!) I quickly agreed and was so happy with them upon pick you! Will definitely be going back for every shoe and boot cleaning and repair I need in the future. Thank you so much!

Yelp
You gotta go see Lonnie. He owns this spot. If you're a first timer he'll bust out the album of celebs he's hooked up when he worked at LAX. He's got classic photos in there. He's a little quiet but let's his elbow grease do the talking. Gary is his partner. Kind of has a raspy voice. He'll be open with you and talk about being on dialysis. Both of these cats are pretty cool. Lonnie however can bust out a mean spit shine that can last at least five days. Good set of guys. They are located straight across from Zara right underneath the long stairwell.

Yelp
So satisfied with the service here - I went to another shoe repair place closer to my apartment (Abe's in Hollywood) for a hiking boot repair, but it didn't last more than 2 wears! I brought my boot to Khalid at Farmers Market Shoe Repair and he was able to diagnose what went wrong with the last repair and what would actually be needed to keep my boot together for the long term. He was friendly and kind and it was pretty affordable. Definitely coming here for all leather repair needs in the future! Absolutely earned my trust and he even went above and beyond by trying to match the leather color to the interior of my boot even though no one would see it but me.

Yelp
Farmer's Market Shoe Repair has been my go-to since moving to Los Angeles in 1982. They do amazing work and I love the old school approach to being a small business. Support your local businesses. Take all your shoe issues to the shoe repair in the Farmer's Market. It's the only place to go in LA. I love these guys.
google avatar

Kelly J.

Yelp
I'm so happy to find this place. Not so happy that it's in the Farmer's Market where parking is impossible, but I will find a way. The nicest father and son team who have been here for 30 some odd years warms my heart. The fact that they do excellent work and charge $8 for a shoe shine endears me even more. I picked up 2 pairs of flats this morning and dropped off all my winter boots to be spiffed up.

Yelp
The man that runs this place is rude. I went in with a broken zipper and he told me he couldn't fix it. I asked how long it would take to fix and he said he was a busy guy and he had no time to service me now or ever.

Abigail A.

Yelp
Khalid the new owner is awesome! I brought my leather purse in to be fixed and he charged a fantastic price and fixed it so that by the time I ate lunch it was finished and ready to go! He takes pride in his work, he showed us the leather boots he custom makes. I love supporting hard-working, local, businesses like this one. Would definitely recommend!

Omar F.

Yelp
Worst customer service ever. No people skills. A very grumpy old man. I took my business elsewhere. No stars on my behalf!

John K.

Yelp
Khalid was terrific. Did amazing work, friendly and professional. Highly recommended! Will be a return client.

Kristin B.

Yelp
Great shoe repair shop! Quick turnaround and really good prices. Will absolutely use them again.

Yelp
Gary has brought over 10 years of Shoe Shine experience from LAX, and it certainly showed when I desperately needed him to do his magic while visiting from outta town around 4:30pm on a Sunday afternoon of memorial day weekend. My initial reaction was to head straight to Nordstrom's, as they usually have staff to shoe shine, but that day their normal shoe shine guy had the day off! I asked if there was another place nearby, and sure enough, I was redirected to Farmer's Market just a stroll down from the Grove Mall. Just beyond and around the corner of the Bath & Body Works shop, you'll find Gary working the shoe shine high chairs. He doesn't do shoe repair, although after looking at the Farmer's Market Directory, I didn't realize that there also exists a shoe repair business by a similar name at the other end of the Farmer's Market. Guess I know where to head to when I need my clubbin' boots to get shined at... Farmer's Market!! Back to Gary though, his shine is the best shine my boots have ever received at a Nordstrom's and anywhere else for that matter. He conditions, dyes, shine, and paints the trim of the sole's edge like nobody's business. His secret technique involves applying everything by hand. No applicator necessary, as it doesn't quite do the job of getting into all the fine lines/crevasses of my boots according to Gary. His prices are cheap and on par with Nordstrom's. Around $5 for shoes, $7 for boots. His job on me deserved a $10 as his last customer for the day, and a returning one for the foreseeable future at that! Tell him "LOO-es" sent ya 'cuz I wanted to be his first reviewer on Yelp! and help spread the word. See you back on July 4th, Gary!

Jeanne M.

Yelp
I had absolutely no issue with the previous owner, however can also recommend the new owner Khalid. I've been there twice and he has done a great job at a reasonable price. The convenience of the location is a big plus, too!
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
Really friendly service and an excellent shine tucked away near the Grove entrance from the Market. I was killing time and in need of some TLC for my shoes, so I figured I would try them out. I am very happy I did.

Yelp
This review is for the shoe repair place in the old farmers market. It is still there and it is amazing.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
Not really much to say other than fairly priced, fast service, and did an excellent job. A bit hard to find if you've never been, it's hidden Away in the Farmers market by the produce section. Go get them shoes looking fly!

Christina P.

Yelp
This man is extremely rude and disrespectful and unprofessional. I only went to him because the show I work on shoots next door. And I bring the actors shoes to get cleaned. But I would honestly drive further out to get better service as a paying customer and better workmanship. The boots he repaired looks like no care or skill involved. And the shoes he cleaned I asked for his opinion and his answer was "i dont know". He tells me he prefers cash then when I ask for a receipt, he forgets all about asking for cash. I hope he retires or gets a new person to ruin his store. Avoid this place and go somewhere else. Not worth it

Rebecca K.

Yelp
This shop does leather goods repair as well as shoe shine. I got my belt repaired here. The turnaround was very quick (less than a week) and they did a great job. The repair is seamless, with the right thread color and everything. It's an old two-tone Gucci belt, and while I could have just bought a new belt and used the buckle, I liked this one, and I thought the chance of finding another two-tone belt like it was nil. I'm glad I went here. Oh yeah, and the repair was only $9. I'm definitely not finding a vintage Gucci belt for $9 anywhere, so it was absolutely worth the price.

chris k.

Yelp
Take note gents, ladies notice two things off the bat; a nice pair of shoes and a decent watch. A good shoe shine is one of the few remaining civilized male activities (it also protects your investment in a good pair of leather shoes). Sadly, it's hard to find many shoe shine stands so you're reduced to doing a substandard job by yourself (possibly using a sharpie to fill in the scuffs). Go check out Farmer's Market Shoe Shine on your lunch break. Get a quality shine ($5 shoes/$6 boots) while you read the paper or check out the passers-by (read: cute girls).
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
Awesome shine! My dirty, but well-loved boots look BRAND NEW! Service was quick and friendly. Will return often.

naz h.

Yelp
The guy here was so nice, he put a snap on a jacket for me and when I tried to pay him he didn't let me. It made my day.

Rawson T.

Yelp
Lenny (not Lonnie) runs the place now. He's great. Friendly, professional and his services aren't too expensive. They're open from 9-5pm 7 days a week (unless it's raining). Only place I've found in the LA area to get your shoes shined while they're still on your feet!

Matt R.

Yelp
I had an interview yesterday so I needed a good shoe shine. I looked this place up when I knew I was going to be at Farmer's Market and I'm really happy that I did. They looked great and my interviewer even commented on how good they looked.

Corey Todd J.

Yelp
This is a great location to watch the folks pass by, and also notice how they admire your primping. Highly recommend. Very nice individual.

Magda M.

Yelp
Really fast service and super reasonable prices. Will go back for all my shoe repair needs!
