The perfect afternoon location for a delightful meal. Started off with some cocktails - an East Brothers Oatmeal Stout (along the lines of a lite Guniess) for me and a Cool, Pom & Collected (vodka, pomegranate, lime & mint) for my wife. Both excellent choices! We then split the Asian Chicken Salad 2.0 and the DG Burger, while Mom enjoyed a large plate of Prince Edward Island Mussels. Our food was perfect, our server, Chris, was excellent, and the smell of nearby roses made for a perfect afternoon. Reservations are highly recommended, especially with perfect SoCal weather!

This restaurant is fantastic! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and because the food and atmosphere was so good, we definitely will be going back. We started with our cocktails, the Petal & Thorn and the Palm & Prophecy which were excellent (very sweet!) We split the pizza of the day which featured prosciutto and peaches and we hope it becomes a staple because it was our favorite dish. Then for our entrees we had the grilled albacore tuna sandwich that came with the best version of sweet potatoes I’ve had in a long time, and the spaghetti squash enchiladas which was fantastic. The staff were also very nice! Highly recommend!

Enjoyed lunch here! So glad to have a nice space and good restaurant in La Canada! Restaurant was really cute, modern farmhouse chic. Food was tasty, really enjoyed the mussels with a side of fries and a bottle of rose. Husband enjoyed the roast pork tenderloin! Lots of vegetate selections too, keeping with their farm to table vibe! Beet salad was gorgeous! The passion fruit cheesecake was a great finisher!

Reservations were made a week ahead. Every aspect of this restaurant is exquisite. The open entrance, the lighting, decor, and music, and the hostesses whom escorted guests to their tables. All that was ordered was artisan, and delicious. Our party of five enjoyed a lunch on a weekday. We were seated on their outdoor patio which provided beautiful views of tall trees which filtered the sun. The acoustics perfect. Our waiter was spot on. Classy, unhurried, knowledgable, patient, anticipated our needs. He also removed our plates as needed prior to being asked to do so. The indoor seating looked inviting with the warm lighting, and decor. The high ceilings made it look upscale,

Came here for an anniversary date. We had the pizza special and the peach margarita, a beer, the burger, and the apple cobbler. The dishes overall were simple but extremely tasty and well executed. Some very very minor things we would tweak on the food (pizza could be a bit easier to eat, cobbler was a bit difficult to share) but overall, very good. We ate outside on the back patio, which was lovely, and the service as well was delightful. Clean and spacious bathrooms. Just a really pretty environment, and we will definitely be returning for special occasions.

New fantastic restaurant and big. Tables inside and some booths. They take reservations and there is a full bar with seats so you can order food there. I came with three others ladies and we were celebrating a birthday. I loved Emily our waitress who was right there bringing all our drinks and food as soon as she could. The food is fresh and has a French twist of many things on the menu. I loved the DG burger and fries. Someone else got us an appetizer of shushito peppers with fresh string beans and an aoili that was delicious. A friend got the Salmon meal. Another got Herb Chicken and my mom got an Asian salad with chicken in it. All was delicious. I tried the cauliflower enchiladas with tehachapi blue corn tortillas but the sauce overwhelmed the flavors of the other parts so I was pleased they allowed me to send it back and get my DG cheeseburger. We loved the two desserts and it was quite a great meal! Kudos to the chefs and the sweet lady hostess at the front who sat us at a nice table. I recommend reservations.

We went here for a work dinner event and had a wonderful time. My coworker and I were early to the reservation and we loved the bartenders Darren, Bianca, and Jon so much. They truly made the experience warm and welcoming with their wonderful drink recommendations. The food was outstanding and we were lucky enough to get a table visit from the chef! Everything was so good it quickly became everyone sharing their plate because we had to try everything. Already planning on visiting again!

Overall the food was okay. However a few things: Service: When it came time to seat us, the attendants at the front told us we would wait 10 minutes before those with a reservation which was fine. It didn’t make any sense because the place was empty and continued to be even an hour after we finished. Our personal server was very sincere and accommodating however I saw a lot of other servers waiting around, singing and chatting like they had nothing to do. The food didnt come out immediately so it tells me they’re just not busy enough or don’t care enough. Food: We ordered the beet salad. The cheese came smeared on the side like someone just didn’t know how to present it. The arugula was wilted and there was barely on the plate. Maybe worth $10-15 because of the portion but we were charged $21. We also ordered the enchiladas. Maybe I have a bias here but the portion of the enchiladas was small, and the entire plate waaaay too bland. It was mostly grilled vegetables and flavorless. I ordered the short ribs. Again, maybe being Korean and having been to the best bbq places in LA make me expect more. The short ribs were thin, somewhat charred and tough. The portion again was thin. The cilantro was also not fresh and wilted.

Another magical amazing evening at The Farm - great food, balanced and healthy. Forgot my card; Mitchel immediately called and held it until I came back.

Farmhouse @Descanso Gardens Real Food. Real People. Shout out from Kara Handy... The most special dining experience...no surprise this Indoor/Outdoor setting is beside La Canada Descanso's Garden of Good Fortune A must for anyone who loves to spoil themselves and people they love. Any dish on the menu exceeds expectations. Just fyi table 14 is mine, my favs are the soup starters, pizzas, burgers, steak with the lightest ice cream end cap. If you happen to meet Chef Adam & are greeted by MiMi, served by Josh -aka: bounce in his step...and introduced to Bryan, you won the lottery! Los Angeles, CA dining at its finest.

The food was excellent. The location is beautiful. The service was poor. Front of house staff seemed morose. There was a 25 min wait for drinks with no explanation. The waiter seemed very inexperienced. Unfamiliar with basics like clear plates or bringing silverware when food is served. A couple of things we asked for like a fresh plate for a second course never came. Surprised and disappointed.

This was a nice little find at Descanso Gardens for the night we went to the Enchanted Forest event. Service was very good, and the place is pretty cute. It's not extremely comfortable with oddly shaped and sized furniture, but no big deal. The bar is very cool, but drinks were just okay. Decent wine list. The food was very good, but I felt like the chef the chef maybe is trying too hard to be creative and a mumber of dishes just had way too many components. Major case in point was the cornbread dessert that sounded interesting, but was really disappointing. Both fish dishes were fresh, so that was nice! A good option in the area!

Located in the front before you enter the garden. Nice indoor and outdoor patio dining. Highly recommend their Apple and Maple Stuffed French Toast!! And Be sure to order a side of bacon to get that sweet and savory combo. You will also want to get an order of their sweet potato fries!! They were so good with the papaya mustard sauce! If you like Bloody Mary's - their has the perfect mixture, a nice spicy kick and big piece of bacon and celery. Beautiful spacious bright restaurant - restrooms are right out the front door. They offer complimentary yummy lavash bread and small bowl of hummus. Service is great- the Korean short ribs appetizer had some dried pieces that were hard to chew and they had no problem taking it off our bill.

5 location, can't beat it! Especially when the only other nearby option is El Pollo Loco lol! 5 design architecture decor! They use trees that have died to make the furniture, super dope! 4 for the food, was missing some seasoning and flavor but my blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar count thanks them lol. We had the pan seared salmon which was good, the halibut the same, but both needed flavor and were a little dry. For most it's probably just fine! The burger was dry and also needed flavor. The fries were a bit sweet almost like a white sweet potato so I loved them! The appetizer mushroom thing was not my jam. It was cheese on top like French onion soup, mushrooms inside like a lot, kale in this supply kind of base. With arugula on top. The beet goat cheese candied walnut salad with arugula was delish! The short rib appetizer with the lettuce and spicy sweet sauce was good. The peppermint tea was standard and the tea with lavender and various other things was not the best. The service was amazing, waitress could not have done better! Very nice woman. Next time I'll try the cornbread cake with homemade buttermilk ice cream!

Date night with the hubby brought us to our first farm-to-table restaurant, and Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens did not disappoint. After a quick Google search and checking out the solid Yelp reviews, we made reservations. When we arrived, we were seated immediately. We started with the grilled Asian beef short ribs. For our entree, my husband ordered the Asian chicken salad and I chose the pizza. Wow--everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The short ribs came with butter lettuce, green papaya salad, pickled Fresno chiles, and a sweet-and-spicy dipping sauce--basically lettuce wraps, and they were delicious. The biggest surprise for me was the pizza. It featured Pink Lady apples, prosciutto, pesto, arugula, and a balsamic drizzle, and it was one of the best pizzas I've had. All the ingredients paired perfectly. Although it's listed under "Starters," it's definitely large enough to be an entrée, which is exactly how I enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered the warm cornbread with seasonal grapes, plumsicles, caramel corn, and buttermilk ice cream. Just reading the description, I thought it might be a bit much, but it was surprisingly very good. We also ordered a couple of cocktails: Autumn's Up (mezcal, lemon, Montenegro, and Aperol) and Cool Pom & Collected (vodka, pomegranate, lime, and mint). Both were refreshing, not too sweet, and well balanced. Service was good, though a bit slow at times. Overall, it was a great dining experience, and we'd definitely return.

This was an opportunity to try a new restaurant with my wife and daughter. They are located on the Descanso Gardens grounds. A very casual but farmhouse style layout with high ceiling and plenty of light and windows. For this evening, we decided to order family style and share everything. We started with the grilled Asian beef short ribs starter, the Asian chicken salad, the grilled pork tenderloin and grilled grass fed hanger steak. The Asian beef short ribs with the lettuce wraps were refreshingly light, tasty and presented nicely. The Asian chicken salad was okay but there were too many items and kind of muddied up the plate. The flavor was good but not great. A case of less is more here. The grilled pork tenderloin lacked flavor and was a bit dry. The grass fed hanger steak was really tender and cooked to perfection. For our dessert, we shared the warm cornbread and pear tart. Both yummy. Our server was very polite, gracious and attentive. Overall, a very good experience but a few dishes fell a little short.

I've wanted to try this restaurant since our last visit at Descanso Gardens. This restaurant was the destination and we didn't visit the Gardens today. Made a reservation which I highly recommend especially if you're planning a visit during peak hours. Ambience is beautiful. The restaurant has a rustic charm with modern touches. You definitely feel like you're enjoying a meal with the tamed nature surrounding you. Update: we've been here 10x since. This is one of my favorite "Farm to Table" restaurants.

La Canada, CA What a surprise! I noticed this restaurant last week when we visited Descanso Gardens. The restaurant is located before the main entrance to the gardens. Althought there is a fee to visit the gardens, there is no entrance fee needed to dine here, nor is there a parking fee for the restaurant or the gardens. We were told by some garden members that Farmhouse is newly opened... It's so funny because last week I thought the name Farmhouse was familiar and possibly borrowed from Farmhouse at Rogers Garden, Newport Beach, CA. Fast forward to yesterday, I was walking into the restaurant space and I noticed a familiar face in the kitchen, it was Chef Rich Mead from Farmhouse at Rogers Garden, NPB! I think he was just as surprised to see me as I was to see him, and it all clicked. Had I glanced at the menu last week I would have made the connection. He makes it up here three times a week to oversee operations. I have yet to dine here. We are fans of Chef Rich Mead's Farmhouse Restaurant in Newport Beach, and we've dined there dozens of times. The Newport Beach location has received several awards and is quite well known for its ambiance and farm to table cuisine. This newly opened space is beautiful, somewhat of a modern rustic look. The tables and bar top are crafted by a local craftsman with wood sourced from oak trees that fell in the storm earlier this year. The craftmanship is absolutely beautiful! I hope this restaurant achieves the same success as in Orange County, CA!

The Famehouse is a cute spot. The Descanso needed a restaurant and this fit the bill. The ambiance is charming. We ordered the prosciutto and arugula pizza. The crust was amazing! The dough was crispy, chewy, and light. We paired it with their seasonal soup which was butternut curry, with a dollop of crème fraiche. It was heavenly! However, we also ordered the mushroom, braised green, potatoes gratin. It was disappointing. It was dry, difficult to eat, and lack flavor. I didn't taste wild mushrooms, carmelized onions, chimichurri, or Parmesan cheese. "Braised" is method of cooking greens. The description on the menu didn't state it was collard greens. The collard greens were tough and discolored. We didn't touch it after one bite. We definitely won't be ordering it again- Our waiter was attentive, and the other staff also made it a point to fill our drinks. Ambiance was perfect! While we did sat at a table, the craftsmanship of building and bar were stunning. I will definitely go back.

Food was very good. Service was good but interesting in how many different servers we had over a two hour span...all were attentive but it was slightly choppy to know who to request from. We had a party of five and reservations. The roasted pork loin with chorizo stuffing was excellent and the pork was moist. The corn cake dessert was amazing and I am not big on desserts. It wasn't overly sweet but very flavorful and rustic. The cocktails were on point with fresh ingredients and not overly sweet. The ambiance was nice but a tad chilly on this day. I requested a booth that helped with the noise level but initially the seating arrangement was with one person sitting into the aisle which never would have worked in the space but the table accommodated moving two people to one side with ease. The only thing that needs a huge correction is the parking. There is no designated restaurant parking and as it was a hugely busy day because the Enchanted Forest with lights was still there and decorations were ended up circling the parking lot several times and finally parking on the street. Supposedly they had valet but it was not up and running. The other thing that needs work is signage for the restaurant pointing guests in the right direction. Will we be back? Yes. This is a nice treat for the areas in an upscale setting.

I have been here several times to have their specialty cocktails at the bar. Their bartenders are all helpful & attentive. I love how their cocktails have some fragrant flower as a base or as an accent flavor. The whole restaurant/bar opens seamlessly to the outdoor space, making it very welcoming, warm & full of positive energy. I had my birthday lunch there & the portions there are solid. The food is good & worth taking the trip there instead of going to the usual restaurants in places like Pasadena. I look forward to bringing my out-of-town guests here in the very near future!!

We've been waiting for the Farmhouse to open at Descanso. Finally able to visit and it didn't disappoint. The design is simple gives you farmhouse vibes. Love the variation of tables made from trees at the garden! Great menu from pizza to salads and burgers. They even had a porridge perfect for cold weather. We'll definitely be back to try more as I'm sure the menu will vary.

I've eaten here twice already and both times I've enjoyed the food thoroughly. The carrots, Brussels sprouts and mushrooms were delightful, the ribeye cooked perfectly, and the chicken was moist and flavorful. Service was excellent, the cocktails were spot on (our party had two gin martinis, a pomegranate cocktail and something called a train ride or some such thing)--all nicely presented and very good. The room is pretty with beautiful tables made by an artist from felled trees at the gardens. The bar takes center stage and is actually a nice gathering place for cocktails if that's all you want. Bonus: Parking is plentiful and FREE. All in all, I would say it's worth the time and effort to drive there. Expensive for your average weeknight John Q. Public dinner guest? Perhaps, but not unapproachable. Thumbs up.

Farmhouse at Descanso has been on our foodie group's list for a while and after visiting three times now, it's clear that it's become a favorite. We were seated by Mimi, the amazing hostess, who was warm and welcoming. Across our visits, we ordered a variety of dishes to really experience the menu. We started with the cauliflower steak, which was well seasoned and the pine nuts on top are just divine. The grilled Asian beef short ribs were flavorful and delicious especially with the spicy sauce and peppers. The Brussel sprouts were shaved with Parmesan cheese on top and the roasted carrots were good but not my favorite. For mains, we tried the prosciutto & pear pizza, but requested it without the prosciutto and it was so good. The sweet-savory flavors held up, and nothing felt like it was missing. The Japanese sweet potato fries were crispy and lightly seasoned, Since we were celebrating a birthday, we were treated to their birthday ice cream with crumble, which was simple and really well done. We also ordered the chocolate cake with pomegranate, rich without being overwhelming. One thing worth noting: the menu keeps changing, which we actually loved. Each visit felt a little different and Sunday brunch is a completely different menu, giving us another reason to keep coming back. Overall, Farmhouse at Descanso offers fresh ingredients, evolving dishes, and a menu that's ideal for groups who like to try a little of everything. It's a great spot for celebrations, brunch, or a casual foodie night out.

Made a reservation and was so happy to go here. We love Darren, the tall and handsome bartender. Our waiters were a sweet girl named Prissy and a handsome young man name Jonté. We had a wonderful pizza made with sliced apples and delicious cheese and arugula and some kind of great meat..see my photos. Two of us got the hot chocolate with whipped cream. We all had different dishes but mine was a DG Cheese and Bacon Burger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, purple onions and a fat patty of delicious beef. The sharp cheddar cheese was delicious. My mom got a chicken salad and my friend got a chicken meal woth veggies. Look at my photos. We left fat and happy. The seats were very comfy and the table made from downed giant trees.quite special!! The ceiling full of tall rafters made the room feel large and wonderful! Met the manager and told him how happy I was.

We have been members of Descanso Garden for years. After our usual 2 mile walk and hour of sitting by the Mulberry Pond, we were leaving and decided to look into Farmhouse for our late lunch/early dinner. The menu has many choices and I chose the Albacore sandwich my wife ordered the DH burger. The restaurant wasn't too busy on a Monday afternoon but it was relaxing listening to the music playing over the loud speakers. Our meals arrived and both were plated nicely and looked appetizing. My wife enjoyed her well done burger as she had ordered it that way. I could see ordering it myself but with less cooking. My Albacore sandwich with the sweet potato fries was delicious. The shaved ginger and the pickled purple onions were a good complement to the sandwich and gave each bite a nice crunch. The service was attentive and Jonte made sure we were happy with our choices. I know that we will be back for a casual meal in a special garden and memorable place for us.

The Farm House Restaurant is such a chic addition to the Descanso Gardens. It has elegant and relaxing vibes. The menu includes numerous savory and vegetarian dishes, in addition to indulgent desserts. The staff was very nice and genuinely warm. The chef told us that their ingredients are fresh and come from local farms. I ordered the following; -summer Pasta 5/5 It has roasted tomatoes, anchovy, olives, and ricotta cheese. It was very flavorful and the amount was generous. -Warm flourless chocolate truffle cake 5/5 It has seasonal fruits, balsamic gastrique,, cocoa nibs, pistachio, and delicate cheese. It was very decadent -Warm corn bread, caramel corn enhanced by the creamy buttermilk ice cream 5/5 - Iced Latte 5/5 A refreshing silky and has a creamy texture drink. Customers can enter the restaurant without purchasing the admission ticket. The restaurant is a must try.

After a lovely morning at the Gardens with family, we happened upon this incredible restaurant. Location is gorgeous with inside or outside seating. The menu has something for everyone from meat to seafood to vegetables. Our server was so attentive and kind, with two of us allergic to a few foods, the server checked with the kitchen and prepared a couple dishes to confirm to dietary restrictions. I'd come back in a heartbeat as the food was so delicious and the service fantastic!

Located inside Descanso Gardens - lovely setting- indoor and outdoor seating- courteous wait staff- attentive service- good variety of menu selections - fun cocktail choices. Food was delicious and portions appropriate. Sides for entrees ordered separately if desired. 2 all gender restrooms located outside- were spacious and clean. Free parking.

Okay, first things first--the service was great. My husband works in the restaurant industry, and we both agreed that the service was top notch. The food however? Yikes. For context, my family and I come to Descanso Gardens every year to see the Enchanted Forest of Light. The kids get a big kick out of it and it's a lovely way to spend the evening. Normally we'd have dinner based on what they sell in their to-go food section, and it's pretty good. However, this was the first year that Farmhouse was open, so we made a reservation and decided to try it out. The ambiance is really lovely. We were sat quickly, and our server Alex was really kind and accommodating (we're a family of six, and the kids were pretty hungry). In total, we ordered the Chicken Jidori, 2 DG burgers, a kids chicken tenders, and kids pasta. I ordered my burger medium and my daughter ordered hers medium-well. Her burger arrived burnt. Like completely blackened and charred on the outside. So we kindly asked for it to be remade. It came back just as burnt and charred as before. It was inedible. she ended up taking her fries and putting it inside the bun and eating that. My burger was fine. I've honestly had better burgers. It was dry and didn't have any kind of flavorful taste. The same could be said for the fries. The dessert was where things really went sideways. My eldest son ordered the cheesecake and my husband and I shared the warm cornbread. The cornbread had grapes served with it. And not even like firm grapes, but cold mushy grapes. I didn't think grapes have any place in a dessert before, and I certainly don't now. I couldn't even eat them because of the texture. My eldest son usually really loves desserts, but I noticed he was having trouble eating the cheesecake. I tried a bite. It was mushy? Cheesecake is one of my favorite desserts and I don't understand why people keep trying to reinvent the wheel? Cheesecake should have a relatively firm texture. Overall, I was really hoping for more, especially given the prices. I don't think we will be dining here again.

Fantastic location and easy to reserve on open table. Save room for dessert! I'm a creature of habit so it's the tuna sandwich ( substituting salmon for tuna) Skip the sweet potato fries. They look good but are oily.

The great room's decor is a nice combination of upscale and relaxed. It's quietly warm and inviting. The booths are definitely my favorite as they provide a little privacy. As for the food, it's professionally good. If you've eaten Patina group before you know what to expect. I'll just say the mussels were a steal at $25. Fat and full of fresh herbs.

Came here with a friend for brunch. Sat outside which was beautiful. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Food was very delicious especially the pumpkin French toast. I am not a big fan of pumpkin but this French toast was delicious and the pumpkin taste was not over powering. We also go the pizza of the day and cauliflower which was also a good choose. Only negative was the ice vanilla latte. Seemed watered down and not much flavor. Other then that we had a great experience.

This restaurant is located outside the entrance to Descanso Gardens, meaning you don't have to pay for admission to the Gardens in order eat at the restaurant. But you absolutely should make reservations. After spending time in the Gardens, my wife and I had lunch here. We had made reservations a couple days prior and were seated immediately at our designated time. The interior is on the small side with a covered patio attached. Walk-ins can sit at the bar, which is enormous, if no tables are available. We decided to order two dishes to share: the Asian Chicken Salad and the pizza of the day, the latter recommended by both the hostess and our waitress. I also asked for a house-made lemonade. The lemonade was excellent, a perfect mix of sweet and sour. The pizza was made with pesto, prosciutto, balsamic, and sliced peaches with a good amount of arugula on top. It sounds odd but it was really good. It reminded me of a Hawaiian pizza but the peaches added a more subtle sweet flavor than pineapple (and less acidic). All the flavors combined for a tasty pizza which I really enjoyed. The crust was soft but crisp around the edges and had great flavor. I had to use fork and knife for the first piece until it cooled a little and the crust stiffened up. The salad was excellent. The shredded chicken pieces were tender and flavorful. The finely chopped ingredients - cabbage, red peppers, carrots, red onions, baby bok choy, sugar snap peas, cilantro, mint, mandarin oranges, and crispy wontons combined for a wonderful blend of flavors. A sesame vinaigrette was the final touch to make it a perfect salad. Service was personable and attentive, and the prices were, happily, quite reasonable. Our only issue was what can often be expected when you are seated on a patio - an uninvited, occasional pesky fly. Luckily, one of my manly skills is swooshing away flies.

We hosted our holiday dinner at the Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by Elise and Natalie who immediately made us feel taken care of. The service through the evening was attentive, polished and genuinely inviting. Chef Adam and Bryan the GM came out to greet us and took the time to check in. That level of hospitality says everything about how this place is run. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect for a group dinner and the entire staff made the night feel special without being stuffy or rushed. Our entire team had an amazing time. Highly recommend for events or a special night. We will for sure be back - I for one will be back for a lavender buzz!

Farmhouse is the latest iteration of a sit-down restaurant at Descanso Gardens and the best so far, in my humble opinion. I was fortunate enough to be treated to lunch by my friend for a special occasion and was impressed. We scored seats at the bar, where our delightful server Morgan kept us in drinks and conversation. We started out with cocktails; my Peach Margarita, the seasonal offering, was outstanding. The peach garnish was perfectly ripe, with a dash of Tajin, and the tequila/peach combo worked well. We then moved on to a non-alcoholic drink created by our server, Morgan: The Watermelon, made with fresh watermelon and a melon basil shrub (shrub is also known as a drinking vinegar). It was perfectly refreshing and delicous on a warm summer's day. We split the pizza of the day (peach/prosciutto) and a market salad. The pizza crust was absolutely delicous, yeasty and chewy; the toppings screamed summer and were perfectly seasoned. The salad ingredients were fresh and lightly tossed with dressing. A perfect summer lunch. We finished with a Meyer lemon tart, which was just okay but arrived with a candle to be blown out. Once it became known that we were celebrating my birthday, more restaurant staff came to express well-wishes and to verify my astrological sign. Now, this is California, and so there are many people that believe in astrology; I am not one of them. I didn't make a fuss, though; my friend wisely commented that the staff was just trying to make a connection. Point taken. Reservations recommended. Free parking in the lot.

Located just inside the entrance to Descanso Gardens, this restaurant is a true gem. From the moment we arrived, I was struck by the warm professionalism of the entire team--from the hostess to the bartender and our server. It's rare to encounter such consistently attentive and polished service across the board. Despite the restaurant being fully booked (reservations are definitely recommended), the service remained efficient and friendly throughout our visit. I ordered the grilled albacore tuna sandwich, which was flavorful and well-prepared, though a bit messy--eating it with a knife and fork worked best. My friend had the DG Burger and described it as exceptional. The drinks menu is extensive, and their martinis are expertly crafted. With a seasonal, farm-to-table menu that changes regularly, I'm already looking forward to returning and trying new dishes.

We ordered pork tenderloin, ribeye, burger, mussels, ans sweet potato fries. They all taste very good. Service was efficient. Environment was excellent. We went for the enchanted gardens and had low expectations for dinner. We just wanted dinner there because it's convenient. But we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of foods. We frequent the gardens quite a lot so we definitely will dine here every time we visit the garden.

Located at the Descano Gardens, this restaurant offers a refreshing taste of healthy food! The style seems to be a farm-to-table type, and the name suits it. You should make reservations if you are coming here on the weekend. The inside is so pretty with wood interior and hanging lights. It feels like you're in a huge cabin. Overall, the food and the vibe here make me wish I lived a lot closer so I could enjoy a nice meal! The salad that we ordered was nice and refreshing, the sweet potato fries were gigantic, the chicken was delicious and of course, you should order the mussels! Our party of five enjoyed everything and we shared all the food. Would come back and would recommend it.

What a great experience for my daughter's birthday! Tastefully done, craftsman decor, and a delicious farm to table menu make this place a stand out for me. The ribeye was perfectly done, and the roasted beets were delicious as a starter. Nice selection of beer and wine as well. Server was friendly and did a great job. Everyone in our party agreed that this place was an awesome surprise!

Met my girl friends for lunch earlier today. The ambiance here is amazing. Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful setting. Right by the entrance of Descanso Gardens. I had made reservations so we didn't wait to be seated. We started with coffee and as usual I ordered an iced coffee which didn't take like coffee. More like iced water. We shared a few dishes. The Chinese chicken salad was delicious. Perfectly balanced with veggies and the dressing. The pesto pizza was good too with figs and balsamic. The short ribs were a bit dry but very flavorful and we enjoyed it by making a lettuce wrap. The steak was probably our least favorite cause it was very chewy. Served with delicious veggies .... Customer service was ok , not the friendliest but not bad either. Overall we had an awesome time here at the Farmhouse. Will be back again to try other items from the menu.

Free mocktails with brunch was a new wave. I had the pomegranate and mint which is great for zero sugar beverage. I mean after a good frolic through the enchanted Descanso Gardens and feasting here at the delicious Farmhouse restaurant becomes a wonderment along with the great service and I repeated my order from last time. Thanks Chef Cheney for looking out!

My partner and I ended our Saturday with a late afternoon stroll through Descanso Gardens and decided to try the new restaurant, Farmhouse. I'd been excited to experience this new farm to table spot, and it did not disappoint. After walking among the roses, we arrived at a beautiful, chic space, a stylish lounge with an oak bar made from a tree that had fallen during a storm in construction. The service felt handpicked, thoughtful, attentive, and clearly from people who know exactly what they're doing. And the food left us wanting to try everything else on the menu, especially those carrots again. We started with the coriander & cumin spiced carrots, which our incredible server Franny told us was her favorite dish. I don't even like carrots that much, and I couldn't get enough. They were absolutely divine. We also had the French fried satsumaimo sweet potatoes, perfectly seasoned and delicious with the papaya mustard dipping sauce, and the mussels, which were solid. My partner had the DG Burger and really enjoyed it. The drinks? Wow. Both the cocktail and the mocktail we ordered were some of the most beautifully balanced drinks we've had, layered, complex, and genuinely memorable. Huge thank you to Franny for her warmth and great recommendations, and to Carol, the general manager, whose presence and care made the space feel truly special. We can't wait to return, and yes, we'll be ordering those carrots again.

BEAUTIFUL NEW RESTAURANT AT DESCANSO GARDENS ============================================= Descanso Gardens members were given the opportunity to make reservations on Open Table before they opened up reservations to the public. I think the restaurant opened at the end of May and I made a reservation for Monday, June 2nd, for lunch. The hostess took my friend and I to a big booth for six in the corner of the bar area. Next time I would like to sit at the bar right at the corner. John, the head bartender, told us that was the most popular location so far. My friend and I both ordered a salad. I chose the Farmhouse Market Salad for $17. There were lots of things inside. See my photo of the menu. It was really good, but it seemed like the salad had salt on it. This was without the dressing that I held on the side. I don't salt many things, so I noticed that. My friend chose the Roasted Beet Salad for $17. She really loved that, however they brought her salad out ten minutes after they brought mine out. Both should have been delivered at the same time. I ordered a Stone Delicious IPA and they brought out a can. I guess this one was not on tap. They just opened and I am sure they are working out the kinks.

I'm a member of the gardens and I was PUMPED for Farmhouse to open. After about a year or more of anticipation, Farmhouse finally opened its doors in May 2025 to members only, followed by to the public in June 2025. For those who are slightly turned off by their not-so-elaborate menu, don't give up on them just yet! Their menu may not be the most exciting but their food is fresh, tasty, and worth the visit. We asked the staff whether they plan to expand, and they said they eventually will, so I will continue to keep them in my rotation of local restaurants. Farmhouse is beautiful both in the interior and exterior. They have a good amount of tables both inside and outside, and I bet it'll be very cozy outside during the warm summer nights. The interior has tall, farm-like ceilings that feel very inviting, along with hand-painted murals of different trees on the walls. It's truly stunning! I liked how the bar area connected the inside and outside. They played volume-appropriate easy-listening tunes and it was easy to have a conversation. Ambiance was casual yet chic, intimate, and rustic. I absolutely loved it! Here's what I ordered: - Asian Chicken Salad - what a pleasant surprise! This was fresh, flavorful and a good size. I loved the wonton crisps and the dressing was spot-on. I also hear that the Farmhouse salad is worth a try. - DK Burger - cooked perfectly medium, burger was very good! Can't say it was the best I've had, but worth a try. I liked the house-made ketchup and really enjoyed the pickles! The fries/potatoes were slightly undercooked in my opinion, but not a big deal - (Cocktail) Palm & Prophecy- recommended to me by our lovely bar lead, this gin-based drink was what I was hoping for. Pineapple-infused but not too sweet, it was a wonderful blend of gin and sweetness of pineapple. I enjoyed this! The only few disappointments were that there were quite a few items that were sold out, including the 'pizza of the day' and certain beers. But given they just opened two weeks ago, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and realize that they are still figuring things out. Gives me another reason to come back :) The staff here are friendly, attentive and helpful. They checked in at the right times and items came to our table in a timely manner. Way to go Farmhouse! I look forward to seeing what additional items you'll add to your menu :)

Came to visit the gardens on a Tuesday and it was surprisingly busy! We were there by 11am Restaurant opens at 1130am and and my girlfriend and I were able to snag the last couple seats at the inside bar, which is first come first serve. I had reservations at 1230p just in case, which was the earliest available a couple days before so definitely plan ahead if you are not flexible on the time. Once seated our bartender was very knowledgeable and explained that the menu is seasonal and changes often. I opted for gin based cocktails on this day and all were delicious but the petal & thorn was my favorite; a little sparkly and citrusy which are two of my favorite things. They offer an extensive drink menu with many tea and non alcoholic options. The bartenders description of the seasonal pizza had us hooked so we ordered the peach, prosciutto and pesto pizza and it was a 10/10 absolutely delicious. I would definitely order that every time it's offered. The menu is so good and different that you could probably try something new every time you visit, which I love. The inside bar looks out to the entrance of the garden which offers a beautiful view and it's just a different vibe than anything around. You do not need an admission ticket to visit the restaurant and parking is free so if you have not visited this hidden gem you must!

I came here with my girlfriends to check out the new restaurant at Descanso. First off, as stated above, the restaurant is located at Descanso, which is already an automatic plus in my book. As expected, the restaurant is beautiful, airy, and a great place to meet up with friends or perhaps have a celebration (like a bridal/baby shower... if they allow that). Second, the food is actually pretty good! My friends and I went on the first day for members and we thought the food was quite yummy. I hope the food stays consistent! :) The price is a little on the high side for what the food is, in my opinion, but I assume we're paying for ambiance. I got the chicken (very juicy). My friends got the burger and tuna sandwich, and we all were satisfied with our meal. Finally, bc this is at descanso, parking is free and plentiful!

Pretty underwhelmed! Pizza was outstanding. Spare ribs pretty good. Carrots good. Mushrooms? Took them home to combine with the chicken rice. On their own wasn't that exciting. Service was marginal. Took some time to get seated even though there were plenty of open tables. Bartender was cool though. I will return for the burger some day, maybe

It is located in a fantastic garden setting in Descanso Gardens in LaCańada it has a nice calm aura "a great place to unwind " we had lunch with a old friend and it is not hurried or fast paced our waiter was at our table as we were setting down with water and drink order we had the soup of the day salad the large bacon burger with fries all came with out much wait I was impressed they will cook the burger to your desired temp the food is definitely upscale in price as well as ingredients and care in preparation it was a good eating experience would definitely recommend it to you

Stopped by here for dinner on the way to Descanso Garden, and the food was so fresh and delicious. Loved that they had a kids' menu, and the wine was great too.

Farm-to-table magic in the middle of Descanso Gardens. Farmhouse at Descanso Gardens is a gem. My wife and I went for date night and felt like we'd escaped LA without leaving town. The setting inside Descanso Gardens is stunning -- big barn-style interior, outdoor patio, and a bar made from salvaged trees. Total NorCal lodge vibes. Service was warm and gracious. We sat at a table crafted from a fallen tree, which had a plaque about its story -- such a thoughtful detail. Food was excellent start to finish. The mushroom gratin with ancient grain bread and garlic butter was unforgettable. My steak came with crispy potatoes and a rich mushroom puree, while my wife's pork tenderloin with chorizo cornbread stuffing stole the show. Dessert cheesecake with passionfruit and sesame kataifi was the perfect finish. The manager Bryan, and chef Adam, stopped by to chat, making it feel even more personal. Genuine, classy, Michelin-worthy -- we'll be back with friends!

Amazing restaurant with super inviting ambience and the nicest staff imaginable. Every meal we've had here was great, and very fresh. Highly recommended!

Have been curious to try this restaurant located in the picturesque Descanso Gardens Came for brunch on a Saturday. We requested a table outside and surprisingly patio had mostly families with small children/infants. Ordered the steak salad and French toast which servings were enough to share. Both dishes were exceptional. As other dishes were coming out to other patrons tables they looked equally good . We paired dishes with a sparkling rose and rose Pinot Service also deserves mentioning. Joshua was our server and very attentive/professional. Another staff member approached our table to check in, which was appreciated. I'm interested in returning for dinner which hopefully may be a tad quieter.

The food was great. The service was horrible. We put our name in before our walk around the garden and was told 1 hr and 45 mins. We came back at 1 hr and 40 mins and was told our table would be ready in 7 mins and they would text us. Waited another 20 mins with not text. Went to the front to ask and they said they could seat us right then without looking at the reservation list. We then saw the "head chef" tell a table that they tell everyone 1.5 hr wait. Sounds like a bunch of BS. No refills at our table without asking. Really should work on their customer service.

Love going here! Good food, great service and delightful location! I've been back and will go again!

Beautiful interior and cozy patio. Food was delicious. Fresh. Albacore tuna sandwich was one of the best I've had. My friends ordered a burger and seafood pasta. They were very happy with their order. Our server Molly was so nice, very attentive and made sure we have everything we needed. Thank you for a wonderful experience. We'll be back again.
