Farm Bar, and its Midwest-focused offerings, are coming to Edgewater | Eater Chicago

"A Midwest-focused restaurant and tavern that debuted in 2011 in River North, I note that it sources many ingredients from the owners' farm in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. The menu and bar emphasize comfort fare—stellar cheese curds, burgers, and roasted chicken—paired with draft beers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Their cocktails are heavy on the booze (their signature Old Fashioned is called out) and are described as perfect for a harsh winter night; they also serve their own ciders." - Ashok Selvam

The service was truly great! The staff was super attentive and really very kind. The steak was cooked perfectly, exactly how I like it, and the salads were also great. The pasta was decent, but I would definitely stick to the steak next time. It would be nice to have a bit more variety in the wine selection, but overall, I had a really good experience.

A truly fine experience on our drive from Indianapolis to Chicago. The farm environment is really a view, so we stopped there. We were warmly welcomed and seated in a really nice barn style restaurant. Our waitress Maryann really did everything to make us comfortable, nice recommendations and top friendly service. Their menu offers a great selection of dishes. Had the brussel sprouts starter and the fried chicken and loved it. A real "honest" and hearty meal in my opinion. I am traveling a lot and the food quality here was way above average from what I get in the US.

It looks like the good reviews are for their dinner service. We had lunch. It was 3xpensive and just not worth it. First of all, the table was covered in crumbs. I had the Reuben. Worst reuben I've ever had. It was mostly cheese. Way too much cheese. The corned beef had no flavor and was cold in the middle. Husband had deluxe grilled cheese. All of the food arrived like it sat for awhile. The good menu item was the beef cabbage soup. It was hot and tasty. The drinks were expensive and small. My coke zero was flat. The decor is lovely but you can see into the kitchen which looks like a factory. Also, I could see how long our food sat there. NOT WORTH IT!!! AVOID FOR LUNCH!

We had a great experience! The Dining Hall is very open with high ceilings providing a grand feeling. As for the food, the Brisket may be some of the best l've had as it was moist and in sufficient quantity that I could not finish it even with help from my wife. She had the chicken with a blackberry glaze on the side for dipping which complimented the chicken perfectly. We will definitely be back as we live less than an hour away and like their Backyard concerts.

Omg!! Fair Oaks Farm Restaurant is fantastic! There’s truly no better feeling than dining at a place with great service and delicious food! I’d rate it a solid 10/10. The wait wasn't long at all, which is always a plus, and the staff are just wonderful. Rena out waited was fantastic! They all were friendly, attentive, and really made me feel welcome. The menu has a great variety, and everything I tried was bursting with flavor. It's clear they use fresh ingredients, and you can taste the quality in every bite. I haven’t experienced service like this in ages, and it really enhanced my overall dining experience. If you’re looking for a place with both amazing food and top-notch service, I can’t recommend Fair Oaks Farm enough! I’ll definitely be coming back for more!

Food was wonderful! service was friendly but slow or forgetful - we went to the restaurant twice during our stay and both times the children’s meals took longer than the adults’, which made for hungry toddlers and sad kiddos - also multiple times the restrooms were out of toilet paper or soaps; recommend they hire more staff to keep up with their busy season, but I understand given their remote location that might be difficult.

It's a beautiful atmosphere but service is very slow. Waited 40 minutes for take out consisting of 2 burgers and fries, brussel sprouts and a loaded baked potato. The dining area was less than half way full but still told we would have a wait for a table. Very bizarre. I got the Brussel sprouts and they had a nice char but were swimming in honey. It was gross. Loaded baked potatoe was very dry and bland. The burgers were good.

Here in the area for training and it was suggested by a coworker.. The service was fast and friendly. The food was amazing with huge portions . The only down side was I didn't have room to try a desert that looked amazing.
