Farm Bar, and its Midwest-focused offerings, are coming to Edgewater | Eater Chicago

"A Midwest-focused restaurant and tavern that debuted in 2011 in River North, I note that it sources many ingredients from the owners' farm in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. The menu and bar emphasize comfort fare—stellar cheese curds, burgers, and roasted chicken—paired with draft beers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Their cocktails are heavy on the booze (their signature Old Fashioned is called out) and are described as perfect for a harsh winter night; they also serve their own ciders." - Ashok Selvam

The service was truly great! The staff was super attentive and really very kind. The steak was cooked perfectly, exactly how I like it, and the salads were also great. The pasta was decent, but I would definitely stick to the steak next time. It would be nice to have a bit more variety in the wine selection, but overall, I had a really good experience.

We spent a week in Branson and decided to have breakfast here one of those mornings. It’s difficult to get to the restaurant, but that isn’t this restaurants fault. Parking and traffic around Main Street absolutely sucks. It was a nightmare as it was raining that day as well. The restaurant is small, very cozy, very comfortable. There was a bit of a wait as every time I drove by this place there was a line out the door. We were eventually seated and our server was fairly prompt considering the crowd he was dealing with. Our food came out quickly. It was hot, made exactly as we requested and very, very good. I love breakfast and this was one of the better meals I had all week long. I really could not find fault with anything what I had. It’s a great way to start the day and be able to walk out side. The restaurant turn right and go shopping. It’s a great little couple of blocks of some very neat little stores that the Farmhouse restaurant fits into very well. So skip some of the big chain, restaurants, support local, and go eat at the farmhouse restaurant

A truly fine experience on our drive from Indianapolis to Chicago. The farm environment is really a view, so we stopped there. We were warmly welcomed and seated in a really nice barn style restaurant. Our waitress Maryann really did everything to make us comfortable, nice recommendations and top friendly service. Their menu offers a great selection of dishes. Had the brussel sprouts starter and the fried chicken and loved it. A real "honest" and hearty meal in my opinion. I am traveling a lot and the food quality here was way above average from what I get in the US.

We reserved an igloo to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was amazing! It was the closest and snowiest day of the year but the staff made it a wonderful experience. The heaters work wonders! He had the cowboy Ribeye and said it was so juicy and delicious. The chocolate cake and ice cream were so good too. I highly recommend coming to so the igloo dining. We will for sure be back. And thank you to James for being a great server to us!

Google
HORRIBLE service, and the food wasn't even edible. Spent over 50.00 for a lunch we couldn't eat. We let the server know about our burnt chicken, hard as rocks cold biscuits, gravy that was like paste and scrambled eggs that were halfway raw. She just shrugged her shoulders. I asked if they had some jelly or butter that I could use on the biscuits since gravy was too thick to even pour and was super spicy, had to use a fork to scrape the gravy. When she brought back the jelly, it was solid, opened a few packets and they were all either solid or like a thick honey. Showed the server and she said "its probably because they're generic and old" and then she was nowhere to be found for quite awhile. After bringing a refill but bringing the wrong drink. We were just wanting to pay and leave. She finally came back and when we told her about the drink she started laughing, saying oh well that was my fault. I'll take the drink off your bill. I had such high expectations and have been wanting to go here for awhile, will never go back. Was such a disappointment. They restaurant wasn't even busy, so no reason to have bad service and bad food.

The experience we had at The Farmhouse was the perfect ending to a perfect day. We got married today on a whim and drove 4 hours to this destination. We booked the Igloo Experience Dinner. We were greeted by our waitress, Brandi, with a smile and with personable conversation. She knew we were newly weds and congratulated us. We reached the igloo and saw amazement of the lighting and table setting before us. The food was AMAZING. Especially the Filet Mignon. Cooked to perfection and was SO TENDER!! At the end of the meal, Brandi surprised us with an amazing dessert with the words “Just Married” written in chocolate. ON THE HOUSE. To say the least this experience was well worth it and we do not think we could have had a better waitress! Thank You for making our wedding day extra special. An experience we will never forget.

Google
It looks like the good reviews are for their dinner service. We had lunch. It was 3xpensive and just not worth it. First of all, the table was covered in crumbs. I had the Reuben. Worst reuben I've ever had. It was mostly cheese. Way too much cheese. The corned beef had no flavor and was cold in the middle. Husband had deluxe grilled cheese. All of the food arrived like it sat for awhile. The good menu item was the beef cabbage soup. It was hot and tasty. The drinks were expensive and small. My coke zero was flat. The decor is lovely but you can see into the kitchen which looks like a factory. Also, I could see how long our food sat there. NOT WORTH IT!!! AVOID FOR LUNCH!

Google
This is a great little restaurant for the setting. It's looks fancy, but it's 'down to earth' pricing and a family friendly menu. It's a sweet place with kind people. Happy to support a great business with lots of heart, doing so much good!

Yelp
My family of 5 showed up a little after 8:30 on Sunday (they closed at 9) and they were extremely accommodating. We didn't feel rushed at all, but felt welcome and wanted. Our server Sabrina was the absolute best, so attentive and sweet. Our kids loved her! The manager even came by to make sure we were well taken care of. And even being the last table of the night, the kitchen sent out incredible food that made it feel like we were VIP. This restaurant has become a tradition for our family over the last 6 years and we will continue that for the foreseeable future. Also, the holiday decor was absolutely on point this year. It's so beautiful and cozy!

Yelp
My friends and I had such a good, leisurely dinner here. At first, our server seemed a bit disgruntled with us. Some friends ordered drinks while we waited for the last member of our group for a while, but once we all had sat down and ordered entrees, she treated us better. Staff was knowledgeable about gluten allergy and dairy needs, which helped me a lot! There were several options I could have on the dinner menu and I ended up having a burger (no fries--no dedicated fryer) and a salad with chickpeas. Both were excellent! The atmosphere is interesting. It gets busy in there and it's a pretty open space, so can be kind of loud. But you can watch the kitchen a bit from certain tables and there's a large fireplace on one wall. If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely enjoy another dinner here!

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks! The chocolate cake changed my life just as the waitress said! The Moscow mules were also very good for any flavor you choose. The steak was cooked well, the charcuterie board for an appetizer was small for 4 people but perfect for 3. They use the cheese that is made from their cows. The restaurant itself was very cute inside with the holiday decor and the big fireplace. The hall is very tall though so it got loud and echoey with a lot of people. The kitchen has a window to see the cooking happening which was interesting to see. Would come back again for dinner!

Yelp
My husband and I just celebrated our one year wedding anniversary on October 11, 2025 at Fair Oaks Farm. Our stay has been from October 10-13th. We absolutely love Fair Oaks, and we especially love the Farmhouse Restaurant! Our first server was Chris, and she is absolutely amazing! She made our dining experience one to remember. She was friendly, attentive, and surprised us with a deliciously made dessert. She was so thoughtful and kind. We really appreciate how wonderful she was with us! In addition to Chris being wonderful, Chef came out to greet us and surprised us with the delicious ooey gooey cookie skillet! He was so nice and friendly! We loved getting the chance to meet him and tell him how much we love the food! Another evening at dinner, my parents surprised us and came over to visit us during our stay. We all had dinner together again at the Farmhouse. Tammy was our server and she was lovely! Very patient, kind, and welcoming. She helped make our family dinner so incredible. While finishing our dinner, Chris, surprised us again with a trio of yummy ice cream. What a surprise!!! Everyone at the Farmhouse is great. Our experiences from checking in, to cleanliness, to atmosphere, this restaurant is a MUST for us and we love it so much! We hope to continue to visit FOF and the Farmhouse Restaurant. Thank you for a great wedding anniversary weekend! We'll be back next year very soon! Sending our love!

Yelp
We were passing through on a family trip and stayed at the Marriott next door, so we decided to stop in for brunch before hitting the road. The place is super spacious with lots of seating and a big cozy fireplace really nice atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, though service was a little slow even though it wasn't super busy. We had the biscuits and egg dish and the apple French toast, and both were excellent! I'd definitely order them again. Next time we're in the area, I'd like to come back for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Stopped by Fair Oaks farm on one of the many road trips we go on. We had passed by the farm plenty of times and wondered what it was like. After exploring the farm and picking apples from the orchard, we thought we would grab some food from the Farmhouse Restaurant. Everything we got from here was surprisingly good! I have to say I was a bit skeptical of a restaurant off the highway in rural Indiana. But it was classic comfort food and hit the spot. We got the cheese curds to start (a fan favorite and perfect to dip in the marinara sauce). We tried the farmhouse burger and cilantro roasted chicken for dinner. The burger was perfectly cooked. The cilantro roasted chicken was big and could easily feed two! The chicken was well spiced and quite moist. I especially liked the brussel sprouts which were well roasted and not too bitter. We couldn't forget dessert so we got the cookie skillet with ice cream. I mean you can't go wrong with a gooey warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream! Overall, I would certainly go back again when passing by on another road trip. There are plenty of things to do on the farm but you can't miss a good dinner here.

Yelp
Great spot for comfort food matched with great service! I really enjoyed their brisket chili, cheese curds, and fried chicken with green beans. The portions are pretty big, so you'll most likely have leftovers or a meal to share.

Yelp
Self serve fountain drinks needed. Additional staff training needed. Should have an app to order as well.

Yelp
We had lunch 5 years ago when it was a sit down restaurant and the food was good. They now have "fast" casual food. Not sure they understand fast, but the food was not good at all. They were out of chicken, Ruben sandwich, pizza. How are they out of chicken?? Next time we go, we will eat first. Surely won't waste money on what they serve.

Yelp
I think I need to stop talking to people about restaurants before I visit them. I've had family members rave about Farmhouse Restaurant, so I went in with high expectations. And it's a restaurant on a farm, so I'm thinking farm-to-table goodness. And the restaurant is beautiful and gently lit, so I'm also thinking it's a place with good taste. My experience was fine, but not as good as I had built it up in my head! I got the French onion soup, and it was a little too salty for my taste. The cheese was more congealed than melty, and I really had to concentrate on chewing it and swallowing, because it felt like bubble gum in my mouth. I also got a Caesar salad, which was good -- probably the best part of the meal. I do love a good Caesar salad. We also got a baked potato with everything and a wedge salad, but the wedge salad never came out, and we didn't see our server for a while, so we just gave up on it. Fortunately, it wasn't on the check. My children got burgers and fries and grilled cheese and fries, and they loved them. I tasted some of their fries, and they were indeed good. Everything was fine but nothing stood out. I guess I was expecting more from a restaurant on a farm, so maybe it's my fault for having disproportionate expectations. That said, Farmhouse Restaurant is probably the best sit-down restaurant in the area, so if you're looking for a place to eat in Fair Oaks, you should visit.

Yelp
I will start off saying that the staff are friendly and the place looks amazing especially all decorated for Christmas. Unfortunately, the food kinda missed the mark. Wasn't bad but the sliders are cooked very well done and the beet salad didn't have very many beets in it. The salad is basically all arugula. The cornbread muffins have jalapeños in them which was a disappointment for me at least. Although, the gravy for the biscuits was beyond delicious so maybe we just didn't order the right items. Would still come back as it is super cute and great for the area.
google avatar

Joee L.

Yelp
The food was really good but I wasn't blown away. The cheese curds were delicious but living in Wisconsin for years they didn't blow other cheese curds out of the water that I've previously had. My biscuits and gravy and eggs were also good but not amazing. My son's quesadilla was surprisingly a highlight. The ambience was the best part of the meal. I definitely recommend coming here for an experience.

Yelp
Tired of the same old fast food spots off the high way? Do yourself a favor and stop into Farmhouse Restaurant and treat yourself. That's just what we did during a family roadtrip recently. We, six of us, stopped in and had a very enjoyable meal that filled our spirits as well as our stomachs. The place is BIG and can seat A LOT of people of varying group sizes. The main dining room truly is a great room (haha) and with the fireplace it feels so homey and welcoming. The staff reinforces this by maintaining cordiality at all times. The menu and food complete the experience by offering a little bit of everything and being tasty to boot! We all had a little something different and not a single person had a complaint of any degree. What a delightful meal! And what a delightful place! Like I said, break out of the fast food rut, take a little extra time, and enjoy a real meal at Farmhouse Restaurant.

Yelp
Disappointed This Time Around This isn't our first visit to Fair Oaks Farms--but it might be our last. I wish I had left a review in the past when the experience consistently deserved 5 stars. Back then, everything felt excellent--great food, great service, and an all-around great vibe. But today? Totally different story. Now you have to stand in line like it's a fast-food joint just to place your order. After that, the food is dropped at your table with zero service--no utensils, no condiments--you're on your own. Want something else? You'll need to get back in line again. And don't expect fries. Most entrees come with a bag of chips (yep, literal Doritos or Ruffles). What happened to the delicious sides this place used to offer? To top it off, they don't even serve their cheese curds at lunch anymore--only at dinner. But I won't be back to find out if dinner's any better. Really disappointing experience this time around.

Yelp
The Grounds, buildings and presentation was impressive! But....,Wow, what a disappointment! Reading their website, you are lead to believe their "Farmhouse Restaurant " is next level. The creamy chicken soup was not creamy at all. NO chicken in it at all. Slightly thicker than the thinnest broth at best. The ham sandwich was ham & not very fresh tasting cheese slapped on white bread. It was assembly line food, rivaling a 2 star gas station. We had to get mayo packets from a condiment station. I only downloaded Yelp to warn other travelers. Needless to say, we do not suggest stopping there!

Monica

Yelp
check the menu because it has changed to a fast food type place with no waitress, limited menu, paper service. The old menu was very nice. maybe things will go back to old menu when fire at visitor center deli will reopen next door

Yelp
The food was delicious! We were driving home from a short weekend getaway and made a pit stop. It's a cute and quaint little spot off the exit so it's easy to get to. Our only hang up was the amount of time everything took. It took a bit long to get our food and drinks hence the 4 stars instead of 5!

Yelp
We were really hoping for some true farm to table vegetarian experience. They have a lot of options on the menu but we were a little disappointed with some. Vegetable bisque soup - we asked if it is vegetarian and were told yes 100%. It came to the table via another waiter saying "soup of the day" and I said we ordered the vegetable bisque and he said "oh the soup of the day is always vegetable bisque" and so we had some bites and then discovered BEEF chunks in it. We asked our waitress and she said that is vegetable bisque but let me confirm and the one who gave it to us said oh it's vegetable with meat... wtf?! They clearly have no clue what's in their food and we religiously don't eat BEEF! Other than apologizing there was no remedy or stop by from the manager and we gave it back and it still showed up on our receipt which I had to get removed. Just for clarification, we went with a party of 7 so we were going to spend money there. The fries are awful like potato chips thin. The mashed potato was good. The green beans were good. Kids quesadillas awful - no sauce only dried cheese and chicken in one. Comes with side of fruit if fries. Fruit was watermelon pineapple melon grapes. My kid did not get some of those fruits. The salads were good sized - we got the beet and chopped salad but the dressing was not enough so we had to ask for more. We also noticed it just sitting out after being made for about 10-15 mins. Not sure what the hold up was bc we didn't order any burgers or entrees. Cheese board was okay. The apple chutney is like apple pie filling - Not a chutney and not enough crackers. Cheese curds good - can't mess that up. Vegetable flatbread with rotating vegetables and cheese - but it has pepperoni which wasn't written on the menu. Rotating vegetables was mushroom and onion haha... what happened to the vegetables on the farm?!?! It was a round dough with pasta sauce. Nasty... Ambience okay. Flies indoors. Outdoors was beautiful but not sure if you want to dine and smell manure at the same time. Overall, we got the experience and didn't enjoy it very much. If we had just the ice cream at the parlor next door, we would've been happy with that alone.

Yelp
Fabulous bar area and ambience. The service was fast (for drinks) even when it was busy. My old-fashioned is delicious. No flaws. I got the eggs sampler platter, which was surprisingly whimsical. It Included beet eggs with mustard and two bloody Mary eggs and two BLT eggs! Took forever to get dinner & placed was packed. I got 3 small sliders with different flavors. They were OK, but they definitely did not seem like farm fresh beef as promised. I think the place is enjoyable, but I would recommend not eating at the bar. The bartenders were fast, but got more stressed out as the evening went on, and it seemed as if their hands were tied, and they were encouraged not to serve dinner to anyone at the bar, which really sucks if you were traveling by yourself like I was. If you sat out in the main restaurant, there were fireplaces and Christmas trees. It looked cozier. I need to lower my expectations for such a busy kitchen.

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
What a major disappointment. Been here many times before for lunch. Now it's all changed...and for the worst. Had to stand in line to order. No small menus available. Girl taking order was rude. Ordered a chicken quesadilla....no chicken. Chili had almost no brisket. A lot of fat. And very watered down. Portions have shrunk. Went to sit outside (seat yourself) all tables were dirty. No salt or pepper shakers. Used to stop here on a regular basis traveling to my sister's. But now.....never again. There goes another good restaurant down the tubes.

Yelp
So we stopped here on the way home from a family funeral in another state. We we're seated very quickly. The restaurant in the summer is kept chili so bring a sweatshirt or jacket so you don't get too cold inside is very open high ceilings. I had blueberry bacon jam, burger I wanted to try something different and this didn't disappoint. It was full of flavor and definitely something worth trying next time you if you want something different.
google avatar

Yelp
Classic fried chicken was good. Steak was just ok. Our waitress was friendly. However I did not appreciate getting seated by the entrance when there many seats in the middle of the room. Soon after another Asian people got seated next to our table. Was this intentional or coincidence?

Yelp
Awful experience! Spent a few hours on the Halloween trail, made a reservation, wouldn't accommodate us any earlier. Fine. Finally sat down drinks and apps came out timely and then that's it... after an hour plus in a half empty restaurant (2pm) our food finally comes out, kids(obviously starving at this point) meals are all ice cold and clearly been sitting for a long while.. our entrees were all not fresh at all and definitely not tasty. Manager helped slightly but it was an overall horrible cap to a decent day. Never would recommend this cluster to anyone ever
google avatar

Cindy P.

Yelp
The Farmhouse Restaurant is just as amazing as the entire farm! We had a great experience from the time we walked in and were greeted with a smile to the time we left! We were offered seating in the bar which was quieter and we gladly accepted! The main area is a little loud and echoes with the high ceilings but it was packed the entire time so completely understood! Service with Brea and Sarah in the bar was great, both were super friendly and perfectly attentive. For being so busy, they were definitely on their game! The food was fabulous! We started with the bacon sampler which was to die for! Delicious! The brisket chili is thick and rich with a generous amount of brisket and the wedge salad is huge, eats more like a meal! I had the chicken pot pie which is amazing with flaky crust on top and bottom and hubby had the fried chicken with huge portions of tender juicy chicken. Hands down 5 star experience, highly recommend and will definitely return if in the area!

Yelp
Bartender judging people she doesn't even know. Sunday afternoon, barmaid says we're closed when we asked for menu. Order drinks, she asks how many I've had. Does it matter when my wife is driving? For the record it was 4, oooooh! Come to find out, they were serving appetizers but she was too lazy to get us a menu. Loved going here but after this it won't happen again. People need to quite judging others and this country would be much better off

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I thought the food tasted especially fresh and really good quality. Brisket and cheese curds were A+. Really appreciated the friendly service too!
google avatar

Yelp
We liked our stop at the Farmhouse Restaurant. The farm was hosting a farm princesses weekend, so lots of the tables were filled with families, princesses, and tiaras. The staff seemed a little frazzled, but we were seated quickly without a reservation. We ordered the bacon sampler and that was the best part of the meal! We were served two strips of the three kinds of bacon. We each had the ribeye, baked potato, and zucchini medley. I added the sautéed mushrooms. The quality of the food is higher than other farmhouse restaurants, and the portions were enough for two meals. Overall, we enjoyed the stop and the family-friendly environment.
google avatar

Dan B.

Yelp
I was not impressed with the menu or the food. The staff were all polite and attentive. But the steak quesadillas were bland and the three sliders were not very good. I just didn't see a lot of great choices on the menu unless she wanted to spend extremely big bucks. I will say that the fries were pretty good. The drive and the cost are not worth it. Sorry. I wanted to love it since it was my pick for date night.

Yelp
sadly we didn't have the ice cream... the cash registers at the the gas station/shop were on the fritz so no ice cream for us :( we did dine in the massive restaurant - the farmhouse - with THE best service - our server was truly passionate about what they served and had to offer as a restaurant and experience. it's tough being a vegetarian on a farm ;) my husband and boys could not decide on the bacon sampler and the cheese board so they got both! it was beautifully presented. i shared the cheese and got a side of delicious brussels sprouts. huge portions -- we were staying in town for a baseball tournament and were able to make a mini charcuterie board in our hotel room to go with a night-cap the following evening!

Yelp
We've visited the cafe next door dozens of times but this is the first time we've been had time to visit the restaurant (also we didn't have the dogs with us). The vibe here is very 'mountain lodge' which is cool. The ceilings are very high which adds to the feeling. The bar area also looks like a great place to chill and have some beers. The food is very good and fresh (as expected due to it being owned and run by the adjacent farm).

Yelp
This place is SO disappointing!!! After hearing mixed reviews we decided to try it for ourselves. Walking up to the door you expect something a little nicer. The ambiance totally weird/confusing. With a name like The Farmhouse, one would w expect a warm, homey and well decorated room. Not an inviting spot in the entire dining area (which is only a fraction of the building that you walk into). There were speakers, but no music. The place is a huge echo chamber! The tables and chairs were quite worn and somewhat junky. The kitchen is behind a glass wall (much like the other exibits). The food was OK but not well presented. Definitely not going back. They need to hire a good interior designer and give them a big budget.

Donna U.

Yelp
I wanted to come to The Farmhouse Restaurant for my birthday. The girl who took my reservation asked me if we had a special occasion... Never received any food. A drink arrived as we were leaving. We did not get seated by the fireplace because the hostess said they were dirty. (Ambiance) The experience was very disappointing. Donna Utley (219) 765.3839

Yelp
We were passing through during our travels and thought Fair Oaks Farm was a fun place to stop! We decided to eat at the Farmhouse Restaurant, and we were pretty disappointed, to say the least. The dining room is spacious and can host many parties, though there were only a handful of guests. The hostess and our server were both polite and attentive. My first impressions were great, but it went downhill from there. I ordered off of the specialty menu- a burger. The wait for food was long, and upon receiving it, my burger was incorrect. At this point, I was starving, so I didn't request they fix the order. The burger was okay, but nothing special. The server was slow to check on us throughout the meal, leaving our drinks empty and needing refills. I also feel the food was overpriced for what it is. While I probably wouldn't eat at this restaurant again...the ice cream in the next building over is worth it!
google avatar

Laney J.

Yelp
The food is absolutely delicious. I ordered a peach lemonade and holy moly, I need to know where I can get that all the time by me. The cornbread at the beginning is fantastic, and I usually don't even like cornbread. I could eat this everyday. I had the farmhouse burger and a side of mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was fabulous. Best I've ever had. I can't speak to the burger...yet because I was so full from everything else that I couldn't eat it. It's beautiful in there and the service was great. I didn't think it was that expensive in comparison to restaurants near me in Lake county, Indiana. I thought pricing was very on par, but the food? Way way above! We will definitely be back! There was not a single dish ordered at the table that was short of amazing so go and try everything!!

Ryan H.

Yelp
This place is acting like a fine dining establishment but in reality it's a crappy hotel restaurant. The tables are wobbly, the service is slow, the food was overcooked and under seasoned. They brought out the entrees before we could finish the salads and apps. The knives weren't sharp and couldn't cut the rough steaks. For a place with cows, you would think the cuts of meat of would be better.

Barb L.

Yelp
I so wanted to give this place a better review after the last time I was here. But sadly, I actually rated it lower this time than a year ago. First of all they changed their menu so what was online was different so when I got here, I was a little disappointed with the fried chicken dinner. It comes with four pieces of chicken, which tasted good but nothing special. It came with bread and butter, pickles, and some hot honey sauce that I told them to put on the side.... I did not use it. I ordered garlic mashed potatoes as a side. They were stiff as a board and ice cold!! The waitress was very sweet and quickly replaced them with hot, creamier mashed potatoes. However, they had zero taste! Even after dumping a bunch of salt and pepper on them, they were very bland. Overall, just a very disappointing dinner. The weight staff was extremely nice and of course the ambience was great. I think Farmhouse Restaurant should consider the Amish to cook for them. It's just the kind of vibe this place gives off but when you get here, it's not at all what you think it's going to be. I think people equate this place with good home cooked meals, but it's anything but. The butter pecan ice cream was great!!

Yelp
Okay and Overpriced. Our group had lunch here. Food was okay for late night bar eats. You order at counter and food is delivered ("served would be exaggerating) to your table. Get it yourself for napkins, condiments etc. Restaurant clearly considers itself to be fancy or at least better than others. But, for better food, better service and better value, I suggest going elsewhere.

Yelp
I stopped for dinner at 4:45 pm on a Wednesday and there were only a couple of other tables in the whole place and this is a large restaurant. It is very clean and well kept, it was very large in size. I was seated right away, and my server came over after a few minutes. She gave me a menu and took my drink order. One thing I have to say is that this menu is surprisingly small. There is not a lot to choose from and I feel like some farmhouse favorites might be missing. I really think they could have tried harder to lean into the "farmhouse" theme on the menu. Everything on the menu was on the expensive side. I guess this can be expected, considering it's part of Fair Oaks Farms but with the combination of a small menu lacking "farmhouse" favorites and the price of the menu items, it was shocking... I almost got up and left once I looked over the menu, I was that disappointed in the food selections. I did decide to stay, I figured for the price, the food must be outstanding. After a short while my server came back with my drink and took my order. After about 10 minutes I was served my meal. The plate consisted of a wing, thigh, breast, and drumstick. It was crispy but lacking in flavor. The thigh and drumstick were juicy, but the breast was dried out and outside of the skin, it wasn't good, especially considering the price they charged for this meal. The mashed potatoes were ok, and I didn't try the coleslaw. I then waited at least another 10 minutes for my server to bring me my check once I was done with my meal. My server told me that they gave her the bar to run as well, and this didn't make much sense, there were plenty of staff waiting around because this place was not busy at all. This will be the last time I come here. Unless they change their menu, I am not interested.

Yelp
Food was average. Got burnt fried chicken. Prices are ridiculous with everything separate. You can pay $50 for a steak with no sides. Very disappointing. Have tried them a couple times and same. Will never go here again.

Yelp
We had a bit of an unfortunate experience at the Farmhouse. I feel that the food is a very big hit or a gigantic miss. For the price of the food, I would expect it to be a hit all of the time. The good: The farmhouse has the best french onion soup ever. It is perfect in every way and I loved it! The bad: Every time I ask for a medium hamburger, it is served to me very well done. It is very unfortunate that this has been my experience every time I came. We ordered dessert and it was stale, which was super unfortunate because the ice cream was so delicious. I think the service is okay, but I would only come back once in a while for the amazing soup.

Yelp
The French onion soup was wonderful and the asian salad was very filling. Waitress (Janet) was very professional. Highly recommend! The fire place was lit and it was very clean.

Yelp
For a restaurant on a dairy farm, you'd think they'd excel at dairy. Cheese curds were tasteless; the caprese pizza was cardboard; and -- most egregiously -- their touted shakes were seemingly soft serve with artificial flavoring. No evidence of a black bean was in the vanilla bean shake; there wasn't a seed to be found in the strawberry shake; and the chocolate shake was clearly blended soft serve with syrup. Even the butter was bland compared to anything non-generic at a grocery store. Dry meatloaf. Bland mashed potatoes. Gelatinous gravy. Slow service [2.5 hours for a non-tasting menu?]. Save yourself the $200+ tab for a family of four if you're traveling from city to country looking for a real farm to table experience. Your local Whole Foods has better product on site 365 days a year.

Yelp
I had high expectations for this place and it lived up to them! I wish I would have taken more pictures. The complimentary jalapeño corn bread was delicious and a great start to the meal. We sat next to the kitchen and could see them preparing all the food. From my observations, the portions are huge, especially the chicken pot pie! I got the breaded pork tenderloin and was not disappointed. It was a large chunk of meat and nicely breaded. My son got the pizza and it was delicious. I will be getting a pizza of some sort during my next visit. Whatever cheese they used was amazing. Service was quick and friendly. I will definitely return or stop by next time I'm driving by on I-65.

Yelp
Nice non fast food stop. The salad and salmon option was a welcome me treat. The steak special was also solid. The staff were friendly and helpful. A good stop when traveling through the area.

Yelp
We had reservations for the Farmhouse Restaurant at Fair Oaks Farm. The restaurant was not real busy and there were plenty of workers. We were sat at an unusually shaped booth which made talking to the other 5 people at the table REAL hard! Our server was pleasant but would disappear for LONG periods of time and appeared not to be waiting on other tables. When our food came, the food presentation was non existent-a sandwich and fries were tossed on a plate. The french fries were cold, the chicken sandwiches had no taste except for hot honey on the side, the pork tenderloin sandwich was over fried, and the mac & cheese was bland and was not eaten. The ice cream tasted like a grocery store generic brand. This is not the home/farm cooked meal that we had hoped for.

Yelp
We thought that after boasting about their farm raised food that we would be in for a treat. Sadly, this was not the case. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy with bacon and eggs. The eggs were over easy. The bacon... tasted so fake. Considering they have a pig farm you'd think they'd care about the bacon. You can buy more flavorful bacon at gas stations. The sausage in the sausage gravy was almost nonexistent. The sausage that was there tasted like Walmart brand precooked sausage. They also didn't spice the gravy. I'm not joking; gas stations have better sausage and bacon than this place did. I had the New York strip steak and eggs with country fried potatoes. I ordered it medium rare, it was more like medium well. The steak had little flavor and looked unappealing. It could have used at least a little seasoning. The country fried potatoes were dark brown and dry. Again, no seasoning. For the price you'd think they'd be able to put some effort into it. I work as a cook in a nursing home, and I would feel ashamed if I handed something like that to one of my residents.

Yelp
It was good. We both ordered the pork tenderloin. Delicious! It's thicker than any tenderloin I've every had, not pounded flat. Usually on a tenderloin sandwich, the breading is thicker than the meat, but not here! It's served with a Dijon mustard sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickles. The bun was warm and lightly grilled. Served with crispy fries and a small ramekin of a tasty cole slaw. For dessert we shared a double dip of chocolate ice cream... so good. If you get a double dip in one dish, it's $5. Two single dips is $4 each.

Yelp
Cute little spot for a casual dinner. Their reservations fill up fast so plan ahead. We chose to walk in and were told it would be about an hour. No big deal. It was only about 30 minutes. BONUS. The service was decent and the food as well. It was a bit pricey but like I've said many times before, I don't mind spending good money on good food. The place was clean as were there bathrooms and there is a lot for parking.

Yelp
After a LONG and well, LONG, flight to Chicago, we were heading south to the motherland. Fair Oaks is our usual pit stop for either a meal or a grab and go as we get back on the road. As I mentioned, we had a LONG travel day & wanted a quick welcome home meal. Other half ordered fried chicken with upgrade to Mac & cheese instead of slaw and I ordered the beef brisket sandwich with fries & slaw. Fried chicken- good! Mac & Cheese- good! (A side is very shareable) my brisket- fine. My sides- tepid fries and ho-hum slaw. Plus, my entree came 5-7 minutes after the fried chicken eater. Late Sunday evening stop, 4 tables in restaurant. Inordinately lengthy wait for meal. Price for the the 2 entrees + tip- $60. Scratching the restaurant off our list for future stops. We'll hit the cafe in the future.
