Compass Rose Changes Course As an All-Day Global Cafe | Eater DC

"True to its name derived from the Arab word for market, this more grown-up, all-day global cafe in a historic D.C. townhouse keeps the exposed brick and family photos while shifting to an order-at-the-counter, third-space vibe with comfy leather couches that encourage lingering from morning to night. Opening with breakfast and expanding to an all-day menu, it leans into traditional Lebanese mornings—za’atar toast, pistachio buns, labneh with granola and apricots, and a platter of feta, manoushe (flatbread), Persian cucumber, and tomatoes on labneh—alongside a bacon, egg, and cheese and an everything-spiced croissant. A Lost Sock Roasters coffee program features drinks like a fig leaf latte and ginger–tamarind espresso tonics. Inspired by the salons of France, the space transitions into a lively wine and spritz bar with small plates such as an extravagant shrimp cocktail, Kirby Club’s signature chicken wings, and potato chips loaded with cherry peppers, prosciutto, anchovies, and Parmesan. The all-day bar spotlights natural wines and the Go There Wines label supporting small, independently owned producers from lesser-known regions, and a retail corner sells za’atar from Rockville’s Z&Z, Maydan’s cookbook and rib-eye rub, and tahini imported from the Middle East with plans to expand into a true world market and bottle shop. Most importantly for longtime fans, gloriously gooey Georgian khachapuri is back—and available all day." - Tim Ebner

Farmsook Thai in Rockville is one of my favorite spots! The food is super tasty and feels really authentic. It’s a great place to bring family or have a small party — the space is cozy, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. If you’re into Thai food or just want a chill place with good people and good eats, definitely give this place a try. You’ll have a great time!

I went to the restaurant right after a medical treatment because I was craving Thai food. The food was delicious, with many options to choose from. It’s a beautiful, clean restaurant with really nice staff. Good portions and reasonable prices. I’d definitely go again. They also have a bar, and it’s a great spot for a date night too. I tried the spicy fried rice with fried chicken, and the Thai fried rice, both were amazing

Got takeout and every time I try a Thai I always start with Pad See Ew. Their is great - nice level of flavor and sweetness. Got tofu version since I'm vegetarian. Great service. Located in neighborhood with parking on street outside. Looks to be a nice place to eat in also, roomy dining area.

We just moved to the neighborhood, looking for some authentic, tasty Thai food and we found it at Farm Sook! Leo, our waiter, was so friendly and nice (and knowledgeable about the area). The food was fantastic. We got drunken noodle, pad thai and the duck roll and will be back for it all AND MORE.

Absolutely a local legend!! Their food is extraordinary and their service staff is amazing! Excellent lunch specials and always a great experience! Definitely recommend their Tom Kah, drunken noodles, gang (yellow curry) and I have literal dream about their cloud coffee!!!

Great place to have lunch, whether ordering takeout to pick up or for an office/team lunch outing. Good flavors and portions. Appreciate all of the options that are or can be made gluten free. Different spice level options for those with different palates. For delivery, it’s always been a very very quick turnaround which is always appreciated!

Stopped here for the first time today and had a great experience! The restaurant was super clean, the lavender drink from the bar was so tasty and fresh and the food was just fantastic! And somehow the customer service provided by my waiter Leo seemed to top it all. He was so attentive, personable and had a great sense of humor. I really enjoyed my lunch here that I also placed a togo order for later. 10/10 would recommend!
