Farmsook Thai Kitchen Restaurant

Went here for a quick bite and got the drunken noodles. Flat, thick, chewy noodles covered with delicious drunken noodle sauce with fresh chilis and was piping hot. My only issue was that the sauce as a bit too sweet. This place also is a bit cheaper than other Thai places as well. Would come again.

Farmsook Thai in Rockville is one of my favorite spots! The food is super tasty and feels really authentic. It’s a great place to bring family or have a small party — the space is cozy, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. If you’re into Thai food or just want a chill place with good people and good eats, definitely give this place a try. You’ll have a great time!

Really good food. Plenty of options. Nice staff. Tom kha, papaya salad, and curries were very good. Only complaint was that the hot soup and curries were lukewarm when brought to the table. Needs to be brought in piping hot on a cold night.

I went to the restaurant right after a medical treatment because I was craving Thai food. The food was delicious, with many options to choose from. It’s a beautiful, clean restaurant with really nice staff. Good portions and reasonable prices. I’d definitely go again. They also have a bar, and it’s a great spot for a date night too. I tried the spicy fried rice with fried chicken, and the Thai fried rice, both were amazing

We were recently in the position of needing to feed 40 relatives and out of town guests following a family service on a Friday evening. Despite a last minute order, Farmsook had chicken satay, spring rolls and 4 full-size catering pans of food ready to go in just over an hour. We picked up the food which was plentiful, hot, delicious and a very reasonable price. Thank you for your outstanding service and great food!

Got takeout and every time I try a Thai I always start with Pad See Ew. Their is great - nice level of flavor and sweetness. Got tofu version since I'm vegetarian. Great service. Located in neighborhood with parking on street outside. Looks to be a nice place to eat in also, roomy dining area.

I am sorry to write a bad review. We loved Farmsook the first two times we ate here, but tonight the pad thai was awful. I would love to change my review because it was great prior, but I cant say we will giving them another chance. Not sure if there was a change in cooking staff or what happened. The dish made both of us feel ill after just a couple bites.

From the time we walked in, to the food, to the service, it was a 5 star experience for being a good neighborhood Thai restaurant. My favorite part was the service. Our waiter explained every food, it's significance in Thailand, and asked questions that made us feel welcomed. Definitely going back

Food was delicious and at a great price! I had the L5 garlic chicken lunch special and it was very flavorful. Staff was friendly and seems to be a local spot with a lot of regulars. I will definitely return when I'm in the area.

Nice big restaurant with lots to choose from on the menu. The crispy noodles weren't my favorite, it looked like a block of rice crispy treats. The kapow is bomb though - I would come back for that. Good service, the place is clean and lots of parking in the lot.

I was excited to have dinner here as I've gotten great food here in the past, but unfortunately, there are currently mice. Mice running from the kitchen and around the restaurant. This occurred this evening and I ended up leaving, because the sole server on the floor jumped up on a chair, and other staff didn't seem to be intervening either. I hope they remedy this.

Everything was so perfect! The service was attentive, professional, and fun all at the same time. Everything was clean and comfortable and warm and welcoming. The food was outstanding! We will definitely be back here many times. The tom kha soup here is one of the best I've ever had.

This business is consistently a 5 star experience. From the food to the customer service this businesses exceeds expectations time after time. I have been frequenting Farmsook regularly because I got my coworkers hooked on their $12 lunch meal which includes an entree and 2 spring rolls. The food is made so quickly and is always piping hot when I pickup and bring the meals back to work. Additionally Farmsook's hospitality is beyond compare. Once I was picking up 8 meals for my coworkers and they emptied a box for me to use to carry all the meals out to my car. They are so attentive to their customers and it has made me a regular customer. Their flavors are phenomenal and they have so many vegan options! All their meals except for their curries can be veganized. Their website even had a "make it vegan" button when ordering online. Additionally I have left notes about making sure my meal is vegan and they always read it and I have never been given a nonvegan meal. My most frequently purchased meal from them right now is the Pad Ka Pow Gai Sub with tofu. It is spicy, has bell peppers and green beans, and the Thai basil is perfection. I love how vibrant the flavors are and the portion size keeps me feel for my whole work day. Thanks Farmsook for being a great local business to support and cannot wait for my next meal.

Came in on a rainy day and my friend and I left so happy! Our friendly waiter was very patient with me and funny about choosing my order. He checked on us throughout and our Thai lesson was the highlight of our time. I have no notes. Great food and drinks with a casual vibe!

Really good Thai food! The flavors were authentic and everything tasted fresh. The portions were generous, and the spice level was just right. Great spot if you're craving something flavorful and satisfying. The service was a little slow (there were only like 4 people in the entire restaurant) so there's that. But the place was overall a good experience.

THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE!! Service? ON POINT Food??? OUT OF THIS WORLD DELICIOUS!! My mom and I went during a slow Friday lunch break and it was so savory ! We ordered the drunken noodles, Thai green curry, and papaya salad to start. The waitress was nice and kept checking in on us to ensure we enjoyed our food. The papaya salad can be ordered to spice level of choosing. We chose medium and boy, are we glad we did! It was perfectly spicy and I don't think we could've handled it any hotter. The Thai tea was delicious and not too sweet. The inside was nice and quiet and they were playing nice lounge music too. I will definitely be back soon !

The servers were polite and engaging, the food was beautiful and flavorful, the ambiance was calm and great for a date. I highly recommend the Panang curry with a fresh coconut juice.

Very flavorful Thai food in a calm, well decorated atmosphere! I stopped in for an early dinner and was greeted by a friendly waitress who led us to a table under a beautiful mural. She quickly brought us water and helped us with the menu (particularly the gluten free options). There was a lot of great options with almost anything being available gluten free! The Thai iced tea was sweet and refreshing and the pinot grigo was crisp. After ordering, our appetizers and food came out hot and fresh. The massaman beef curry was flavorful with tender chunks of beef and a tangy red sauce. My gluten free chicken and veggies was mild and tasty. Definitely a good experience worth coming back again!

Had an early dinner for my 1st visit to this establishment. It is located on the first level of an office building in a nice area, within walking distance from King Farm town center. I ordered to-go once I arrived. The attendant was so very personable and fun to talk to while waiting for my meal. I had the Massaman Beef which came potatoes and tomatoes, in a rich delicious sauce. I also ordered steamed mixed vegetables on the side. The beef was tender as mother's love and tasty, however, the dish is a little on the oily side. Take note that they give you a mini box of rice that might serve a child. I feel the amount of rice should be larger like every other Thai restaurant I've been to in Montgomery Co. I think rice is an important part of the Thai dish, if it comes with rice. So, if you are a rice lover, you are out of luck. The side dish vegetables were a mixture of sliced carrots, broccoli, green beans and cabbage. It was steamed perfectly, however, no seasoning or sauce at all, just plain. However, it was ok for me. I would like to visit again to try some of the other options on the menu. It is also very refreshing to have to someone so kind to wait on customers out front. I think her name was Tami. Kudos to her!

Came here for the first time after school with my friend and you honestly cant find any good thai food around thats affordable and delicious. I tried the valcano fried rice because im a fan for spicy food and when i tell you its SPICY it is lol, i definitely recommend that to those who are into spicy food it was so delicious. I also tried the ramen drunken noodles with fried chicken, it was really good aswell 10/10. The service was also great :) our server was really funny and nice and attentive to our needs. The place is nice aswell very spacious and comfy will be coming back and definitely recommend checking this restaurant out. I also love the parking infront of the store it is super convenient!

Still one of my favorite places in King Farm. The staff is amazing. The food is tasty and well-priced. And happy hour is back! Woo hoo! Try the Mattie's Mojito - sunset in color and supports the Mattie Stepanek Peace Foundation.

Was in Rockville for work and didn't want to eat at the hotel restaurant so decided to walk over to Farmsook Thai. I'm really glad I did - it was delicious! I took it to go since I had some work to do, but the rolls were still crispy and light. The noodles weren't overcooked and the food was exactly as described - spicy for what I ordered and mild for my friend. If you're in the area, you shouldn't sleep on this place!

Food is fantastic! Unfortunately they are VERY stingy on rice (which is a big part of eating Thai food, especially with curry dishes...) Expect a "happy meal" portion of rice for a child to come with the expensive dishes

Wow. Just wow. I normally don't do reviews until my third try, but this was THE BEST drunken noodles I've had in a very long time. The chicken was so crispy and the noodle flavor was amazing. Can't wait to go back!

I came for lunch on a weekday. I got the lunch special chicken pad Thai with fried crispy rolls. I think the portion was a bit small compared to the average lunch portion. The pad Thai was good and flavored well. The crispy rolls were good and not too oily, but next time, I'll get the regular portion as I wasn't completely full. There weren't many dine-in patrons so service was good. The seats and tables are covered so I was sticking to the seat by the time I left. There isn't much in the area, more residential and some work buildings. There is two hour street parking (Mon-Fri 10am-2pm). I would come back if I'm in the area and craving Thai food, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

I opted for an order of jasmine tea, Tom Yum Soup with shrimp and papaya salad deluxe. The Tom Yum Soup's broth is one of the best in this area. Perfect balance of hot and sour--zesty but earthy. The papaya salad is something I have never had before. So, refreshing and filling. Pleasantly surprised with the salad! The toasted peanuts mixed with spicy lime dressing was delicious. Plus, they serve the salad with sticky rice so you can soak up the yummy sauce at the bottom! ...or at least that is what I did, haha. "Farmsook" means happiness in Thai and this third-generation family ownership takes pride in serving you their family recipes so that the business continues running on smiles and full bellies (this family has been in the Thai restaurant business for 50 years!).

The flavors here are bold, fresh, and beautifully balanced. If you go, do not leave without trying the Volcano Fried Rice--it's a showstopper! Packed with flavor and perfectly spiced, it's unlike most fried rice.

I ordered a lot for carry out - pad thai, panang curry, papaya salad, kapow chicken, pineapple fried rice but they were all delish! overall I would say that the pad thai and panang curry were my favorite. They had it prepared and ready for me to take. Overall, very clear on the phone, making sure they have everything correct, and efficient!

My sisters and I ordered from here for takeout. When we arrived to pick it up, I noticed they had a full bar where you can sit down at. It was nice and clean inside. There was one table of people dining in. I saw my order on the counter but was waiting for a few minutes before deciding to ring the bell at the desk. A woman was at the table told me she'd get to me shortly, even though she saw me as soon as I arrived. After another 5 minutes or so, I was really irritated, but luckily another woman came out from the back and I was able to pay and be on my way. I initially ordered the tilapia, which was advertised as a basil dish. I requested it be as spicy as can be. It comes deep fried and came with broccoli and the "basil sauce" that I added onto the accompanying white rice. Unfortunately, I didn't like it at all. It was too sweet and there was not one basil leaf in the dish. I called them back and they were so gracious enough to replace my dish. I ended up getting the spicy Thai basil fried rice with beef, and the mango with sticky rice. I really enjoyed the spicy Thai basil fried. It was actually spicy and had a great flavor. The beef was tender and juicy. The mango sticky rice (not sure why it's green) was also really yummy. My sister just moved into the area. Besides the initial slow service, and me being ignored, I can tell this will be a regular spot for us Thai food lovers!

I decided to order carry-out lunch from Farmsook to help support a local small business. I ordered the chicken pad thai, grandma's fried rice and appetizers sampler. The appetizers sampler comes with 2 veggie rolls, 4 chive dumplings, 2 fried chicken teriyaki pot stickers and 3 wonton pieces. I ended up getting extra pieces in my order - thank you to Farmsook! The pad thai was delicious and not overly greasy. The noodles were nice and chewy. For carry-out the dishes pared well! Check them out and hoping to try more of their special dishes next time.

Lovely ladies and woman owned! Great food and great service. Not so great desserts. The Tom Yum soup is very refreshing. The noodles (Pad See ew and drunken noodles) have top quality ingredients.

A first timer to this restaurant after it was changed from Thai Farm. Prices were a bit high even though the food portions and tastes were alright. Seemed like management and employees changed. Our entree orders came in a timely manner by the staff. Had to request for some spicy sauces and chili pepper since the food items were not up to the spice level we had asked for. Lacked that flavor. Service was good.

This Thai restaurant is super interesting because their decor does not say Thai at all...it lowkey looks like they just kept all the same decorations from whatever business was previously there because it does not match the vibes at all. I was surprised at how empty the restaurant is because they have a ton of seating and people were constantly coming in to pick up their order. I guess it's just more of a carry out place than sit down...my friend and I were there from 5pm-close () so we at least enjoyed ourselves. Now to the food I really liked their pad see ew dish. Each dish is about $13, which is super reasonable. The portions are generous and actually lasted me 2 meals. Definitely going again!

I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu and it was delicious! The sauce and seasoning were very flavorful and I would definitely get this again. Ordering online was simple and picking up the order was quick too. I will have to try other things on their menu!

Let me start by saying that we absolutely loved the place. The place was not packed. Just a handful of tables with some carry-outs. No wait, and no reservations are needed. The place is nice and quiet so you can carry on a conversation without shouting. The service was exceptional, and the staff was very helpful. They were very knowledgeable of the dishes. We got an appetizer sampler. Delicious. Loved that we were able to try a few of different appetizers. It came with two different sauces. One of my favorite Thai salads is the Larb Gai, and it's on their menu. Bonus! I got 2 peppers, but I think I would go with 3 peppers next time. Nevertheless, it was on point. Just loved. Lastly, the Panang Chicken with added broccoli for an upcharge. It's delicious but definitely a little heavy on the coconut milk. They have a brown rice option, which is a plus for us. We were way too full to have any desserts. Maybe next time. We will be back.

Delicious food but waaay overpriced! Egg rolls should not be $8! Soup should not be $17. The most a chicken dish should be in this area (Gaithersburg) would be $14.95, not $20. Shrimp dishes should be, $15.99 -not $25! King farm is still GAITHERSBURG!!! It's not Bethesda! They need to lower their prices. I could go on and on citing this restaurant's crazy prices but instead, I'll just let my feet do the walking. Won't be back.

I sat by myself at the bar but had attentive service and a lovely meal - veggie potstickers, tofu Rama w homemade peanut sauce, and lively "purple rain" drinks. I'm surprised this place wasn't more busy because I thought it was delicious. 10/10.

My family and I live this place. OMG! The "volcano fried rice" is bananas. Make sure you ask for mild though. I went crazy and got it how the chef makes it and paid dearly. Got milk?

My friends and I love to come here for lunch special very reasonable price and yummy !! Pad Thai is very flavorful the sour from tamarind and sweet balance perfectly. This place is a must try if you came to this area

Happy Thai New Year! I was looking for specialty items for the Thai New Year and Farmsook Happiness Kitchen was the only one who had special menu items. Located in King Farm, they are easy to find and provide excellent service. Please, forgive my spelling, but Suchera took my order and was very welcoming. She made sure that the spicy dish had the sauce put on the side, so I could control the amount of heat in the dish. The food was very good. The restaurant was lovely with beautiful murals painted on each of the walls. There is an attractive bar area that greets you, when you walk in the door. We ordered the sticky rice and mango, The noodle delight, and the Kao Mun Gai Tod. They were warm and delicious. This was my first time trying Farmsook Happiness Kitchen restaurant, but it won't be my last.

Great lunch spot that my wife and I checked out a couple of weeks ago. Lunch portions were kind of small for the price, but what do you expect in these times of inflation. To make up for the portion we got the crispy noodles as a shared appetizer. This dish was the star of the meal. GET THIS!!! It's sweet and semi savory at the same time. Service was good. Our server was friendly and gave some insightful recommendations.

Loved the attention to detail of this Thai restaurant. It was Easter Sunday while visiting relatives, was so happy this restaurant had its doors opened for service. A woman owned business and can sense all the dedication and homely touches to this place. My mom and I were craving for a nice curry meal and some flaky roti canai pancakes with a side of rice after a long travel journey. We ordered the green curry (mild side) as graciously offered by our host and server. And our starters was the curry puff for two with a side of sweet vinaigrette dipping sauce. Very flaky, nicely steamed filling and at the right temperature. I would go all out and order all the classic Thai dishes because this place has so much to offer on their menu, even the rare Thai items that you would get at dedicated Thai restaurants. My guest mainly my mom isn't a huge portions eater so I had to be mindful of our order. But my foodie soul did cry on the inside because the other diners ordered satay chicken skewers with peanut sauce, rangoons, classic spicy noodles and Krapow dishes that looks so delectable to the side of my eye. Loved how attentive our host was each time my mom and I needed refills, tea orders, and recommendations on what dishes to try. A part of me thinks the host overseeing us may have been the owner as she did wanted our feedback on the dishes. I was more than happy to dine at her establishment for sure and everything was delicious to make me forget about my travel lag from my journey. I won't miss out another opportunity to order a feast and bring back guests who are dedicated foodies as much as I am. Splendid work on the restaurant, service, and our lunch for sure.

I decided to be a bit more adventurous today and try a different Thai place than my usual go-to and I am SO glad I did. Farmsook is by far the best Thai restaurant I've been to in the DMV area and definitely in the running for the best ever. The pad thai, drunken noodles, and curry puffs were all phenomenal. Deep, developed flavor with just enough spice (for the drunken noodles). They don't skimp on portions either! Doordash prices are definitely higher than for other Thai options, but I'd say it was worth. Since I did go for the delivery option I can't comment on the restaurant service or ambiance, but I will definitely be going soon!

5/5 everything! My favorite is their lunch specials for $10, which include a dish of your choice (out of like 4?) and you can add on a Thai Iced Tea/Coffee for $2. This seems to only be available on the weekdays, heads up! The vibe is my favorite part of this place. Not only is the restaurant very clean, but the decor and music is super lovely and calming, nothing crazy. I love how spacious it is inside, and the light comes through great! I feel like this place is kind of hidden because of the location, so I hope I can introduce my friends to the place! My favorite cuisine is Thai, so definitely a plus. The food always taste really fresh, and one thing that I noticed that might be subtle is that the food isn't overly salty. I have yet to try a bad dish! Will be coming here often, the service is also great! :) I love our women-owned businesses in the DMV!

I recently moved down from Boston and because I'm a lover of Thai food, finding the best Thai near me has been my mission. I ordered a chicken and shrimp basil fried rice from farmsook and the food was really good. They were also good about making it spicy. Whenever I pick up my order, the women at the front are friendly and welcoming. My only gripe is that they do not have any salmon options as far as any basil dish is concerned. The only fish option I recall is breaded which I don't care for. Other than that, the food is tasty and does not disappoint.

12/14/21. The last time I was here was over 15 years ago when it was named something else. I did a search online for Asian restaurants close to my office and it popped up so I decided to check it out. My friend and I ordered from the lunch bowl specials, which are available Monday-Friday from 11-3pm. There are five options to choose from priced at $10 each. You can add $2 and get a 12 oz. Thai iced tea or Thai iced coffee. I selected the Chicken Garlic Sauce Chicken with Fried Egg with a Thai iced tea. I normally get Pad Thai or Pad See Ew, but I decided to be adventurous and try something different. I am generally a harsh critic if the chicken that I eat is dry or overcooked, but it wasn't the case today. It was cooked just right and seasoned perfectly. Although my husband later told me in the evening that I had dragon breath. Maybe too much garlic, which I didn't taste. My friend got a soup and the Pad Thai. She liked it, but between that and the soup, she was stuffed and said her entree was filling. She didn't finish it. I just think she has a small appetite. Service was good, but it wasn't super busy as there was a fair number of patrons picking up orders at a table set up in the foyer. Uber Eats pick up was also set up at the table based on the sign. Having a bottle of hand sanitizer was appreciated during this ongoing pandemic. My favorite moment at lunch was while I was taking a photo of the restaurant, one of the staff said he would have posed if he knew I was taking a photo. So I did a retake, but he did a Superman pose, but didn't look at the cam. Lol Definitely enjoyed my visit and given the proximity to my office and the lunch specials, I plan to come back frequently perhaps next time for carryout.

Great local Thai restaurant! Came for lunch with a group of friends and we ordered a few apps and entrees to share. Everything was fresh and flavors were on point! For my appetizer I ordered the crispy chive dumplings, great flavors and textures and the garlic soy dipping sauce was excellent. For the entree I ordered the kapow basil with pork. The pork was so tender and delicious and the green beans were perfect with just the right amount of snap. It had a pretty good level of heat, which I prefer, so if you're sensitive to spice be aware. Being close to the holidays they even offered everyone at the table a small gift to choose from at the end of the meal! Talk about fantastic customer service! If you're craving some tasty Thai food then do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Only started coming here since the pandemic and so I have never actually eaten in the restaurant. So, this review is only based on to-go orders. In 2020, I was looking for a place to get some Thai food. I remember this place was here but had never been to it so I just decided to try it one day and have been coming back ever since. I usually get the same things (not on all visits though). Curry Puff - per Menu: A pair of pastries stuffed with chopped chicken, potatoes, and onions. Think savory pastry (although the dipping sauce is sweet) - I enjoy it each time I get it. Pineapple Fried Rice - per Menu: It is with onions, scallions, tomatoes, egg, cashews and curry powder. You have a choice of the meats: Chicken, Beef Pork, Shrimp, or have it with Vegetable or Tofu. Note: With the shrimp, it is served with the tail. I usually have them remove the onions and scallions from my dish. It is a big enough size for 2 people (I always have leftovers and I am fine with that...more for me). Mango with Sticky Rice = the sticky rice is green, and the mango is sweet (sometimes too ripe) - I don't have this dish often only because I get filled up on the other two dishes. Thai Tea - it usually is served with a lot of ice (however this is anywhere you get Thai Tea...not just here). I usually just get it with less ice. They have a few parking spots in the front (on the road) and more to the side (if facing the restaurant, it would be to the left). They do have chairs for you to sit in as you wait for your order. I enjoy the food and the service and so that is why I keep coming back.

I've eaten in a lot of Thai restaurants and Farmsook is a real standout, worth seeking out! On my first visit I sampled my friend's order, Pad Thai--and it was among the very best I've had. I've been eating Thai food fairly regularly since the 1980s--including lots of Pad Thai.) The dish I ordered, Ramen Kao Soi Gai, from Northern Thailand, was among the most delicious and satisfying meals ever. Highly recommended! The dining room was comfortable and the service was warm and attentive. I will certainly be returning!
